Congrats for starting the journey to TK! It's a blast! Post lots of pictures and ask lots of questions - we are here to help. You will want to get a Imgur or Tapatalk or... whatever account to host pictures. The forum does not allow a lot of room for images. Here is a link for Imgur. Tapatalk can be more buggy (in my experience) but you can post directly from your phone.2 points

Small update: New vs old neckseal: Gluing the ab buttons on, hope they look alright. Once on I can line up the belt properly. Some of the buttons on need to be repainted though like the top left one.2 points

Forgive that these pictures are a bit out of order. I took a number of pictures that I failed to post updates for. Also! I realized recently that I bought gloss black, not satin black... I do not know how I managed to make that mistake because I did check out the paint references... So I will need to get some of that before I dig into the painting. After removing the masking from the plasti-dip spray, I found some of the spray had leaked out to the other side of the frown. I was able to remove this by gently rubbing / peeling / scraping the excess. On the inside, I removed the excess gently with an x-acto. The spray missed a couple spots. Just under the little ledge at both ends of the frown, and a little bit underneath one of the hovi-mix recesses. Easy enough to remedy with a brush, or can be left as is. Some parts of the helmet where the plastic is thinner show up darker now on the outside (will include a picture later). I’m not sure if pre-painting the inside with a white base before doing the plasti-dip would have remedied this, but the layer can easily be pulled off and redone. I may end up removing some for the lens mounting and potentially reinforcing the inside of the hovi-mix recesses (the plastic is especially thin there). Inside of the helmet. Bottom right underneath the hovi-mix recess shows a little spot where the spray missed. From where I stand, with the brow in place, I’ve got about 2.5cm from the top of the brow to the top trap line on the left side of the helmet. On the other side, I’ve got about 2.5cm on the front side, but closer to 3cm on the other. I’m going to do a little more looking about. I can either trim this side, or I can pull the brow down a bit across the board to make it even, or I could leave it a little lop-sided.. It seems some helmets do show this side’s trap being a little asymmetrical. Ok, ok, I'll put Mr. Hyde away, lol. That's why I only cut the one side at an angle. Flipping it around brings back that straight cut. Looks like that edge could use to have the edge straigtened up (though I know I will likely need to pull in the cut line).2 points

Hi! Sick of photobucket being a slow, bloated piece of bantha poodoo (that now apparently charges you insane amounts for external hosting)? Wish you could just upload some images to your build thread to show off your sweet-an impolite person testfit of your armor after you've done all the strapping and not use 50% of that time closing popups? FEAR NOT! PSA: Keep a backup of your images! No one can predict the future, Imgur may not always be around (or may hold your images hostage like Photobucket). 1) CLICK THIS TO GO TO IMGUR.COM (Or you could click the mouse wheel, which opens any link in a new tab) 2) Make an account: 3) Fill in your stuff or use Facebook/Google whatever: 4) Go to your images: 5) Find your awesome picture: 6) Drag and drop your awesome picture right onto Imgur (or use CTRL C+V): 7) Click your newly uploaded picture: 8) Click the Copy button on the BBCode section: It will flash green and stuff, welcome to the future! This baby's almost ready for paint! Pretty painless! It also has albums, ability to auto-resize, you can even select several pictures from your folders and just drag them all onto Imgur. Pictures are hosted on imgur, and you are merely linking to them by posting them using this method. If you remove it from imgur, it will be removed from anywhere else you posted it using the link. Here's what all the sections do: Image Link: Links to the image, but on Imgur. [EXAMPLE] Direct Link: Links directly to the image, and nothing but the image. [EXAMPLE] Markdown Link: Formatting for Reddit comments, disregard this one. HTML: For embedding your picture onto your website. HTML Code. BBCode: For embedding your picture onto forums (like FISD and 99% of all other forums). Linked BBCode: Same as above but with a clickable picture that leads to the picture on Imgur. [Example below, click it!] HOW TO RESIZE YOUR PHOTOS FROM YOUR SMARTPHONE/CAMERA IF YOU HAVE BANTHA POODOO INTERNET CONNECTION (WINDOWS ONLY): If you're like me, you have a sub-par internet connection and a "regular" smartphone. Smartphones takes pictures with a large file size and it is not optimal for us with a bad connection wanting to upload it for web viewing. 3.5mb takes a long time to upload, so let's shrink those files while still keeping it high quality for the web. 1) Open up the pic in MS Paint Right clicking the image and clicking edit should open up the selected pic in Paint. If you highlight multiple images and do this, it should open an instance of paint for every selected pic. 2) Resize in Paint Click the "resize" button in MS Paint. You'll see this: Click TAB once and it should highlight the number, making you able to type into the field. I usually resize my pics from my Samsung S8 by 40-50%. Press OK (or just hit enter) and it should resize. Now you can go to File->Save/Save As.. or simply just press CTRL+S to overwrite and save to the file you opened. Now it only takes a few seconds to upload a picture, instead of a minute. Time saved that you can use on removing excess E6000 glue from your coverstrips If you have any questions i'll do my best to answer them. Ensi out!1 point

It started a long long time ago - 1977 to be exact. It wasn't far far away- just Albuquerque NM. But I saw THAT movie - and those white gladiators on the screen - never-mind they often seemed to be getting blasted and didn't shoot very accurately. I was hooked on Stormtroopers! That shiny white armor - the cool grimacing frown... That summer and fall, I cut, shaped, rolled stapled and painted cardboard pieces into makeshift armor. I was in 3rd grade and built a very crude TK armor set for Halloween that year. My only regret is I don't have a picture to share (moms Polaroid was out of film). Ok, Ok - i'm dating myself here, but the point is I've wanted to be a Stormtrooper for a long long time. I married young, and money was always tight - so the cost of armor kept it out of my reach, until this last Christmas. Thanks to a generous girlfriend - I was gifted an Anovos TK kit. She found it second hand on Ebay. Honestly, i'm not even sure it's an authentic Anovos kit. But it arrived in early Feb - and I've been tinkering with it ever since. I fully intend to join the 501st, and have connected with my local garrison. They have helped along the way, and I'm grateful for the input. I always find myself checking back with here as i over analyze the details. So today - I finally said F%@K it. I'm going to put myself out there and post pics of my progress. I'm getting close with the body armor - but have left the helmet to last. So i'm here for feedback, guidance and insight. I'll post some back pics of progress, and get myself current on my build. Then I can post pics of this helmet build. Here are the pics of my BBB. As I said, I'm a ways past that day - and thanks to threads from Justjoseph63, UKswrath and CableGuy to name just a few- there has been serious progress. More photos to come. Looking forward to sharing. Thanks in advance for you patience with this old dog wanting to learn new tricks.1 point

Just thought I'd show my build for the Anovos Standard line FO Stormtrooper helmet. I've seen a lot of builds for custom helmets and the FO TK fiberglass helmet, but I'd like to see if anybody else has a similar build to mine. I used black plasti-dip to coat the inside of the helmet first. Then I placed helmet padding inside to insulate the amount of space inside. Big thanks to ukswrath for his FO Audio System and Cooling kit...super simple to install and works awesome. I think it turned out well...just need to find a set of armor to go along with it and then apply for the 501st!1 point

Wasn’t quite happy with the fit of the shoulder bells, so decided to do a hot water bath and try to widen them a tiny bit more. Left went pretty well, but I ended up warping the back of the right bell a little bit! This was annoying, but after getting some good tips from troopers on the FISD Facebook page, especially from @Rat, I managed to smooth the warping out a little bit. It’s not perfect, but neither is any other part of the armor so I’m happy enough with the result! Been debating glove options for a while and I finally decided to go with the rubber glove/elastic strap combo for the hand guards, since it’s allowable in the CRL and I think it looks nicer. Got my chemical gloves from Amazon last week. and with those + some other fit adjustments popped the armor back on to see if the arms were looking better proportionally. Not happy with the gap at the wrists, but that’s partly because the hand plates kept slipping down. I’m thinking either Velcro or magnets to keep them in place on the back of the gloves...1 point

Well, I think I can finally finish this armor. I tried to work with the MIMIC armor for the upper body but it is too rigid. I have already cracked the abs just by putting it on a couple of times. As a result, I have ordered the remainder from KB Props, so my entire set (minus the helmet) will be KB. Once this comes in, I can finish. I did just notice that all of my URL links have expired so my new pictures will need to come from Imgur.1 point

Advanced Tactics Awards EIB - The March To 1000 Fire Teams Merchandise Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD On 24th of April 2020, Bill Early Jr (TX-2062) passed away. Bill’s tour with the 501st Legion began in 2007 with the Midsouth Garrison. Later he found a home with the Bluegrass Garrison 501st and the Derby City Squad. Bill was known to coordinate many charity events during his career and the JDRF One Walk supporting juvenile diabetes research was a personal favorite. Bill was an award winning model master and a well-respected fixture of the model-master’s mecha; WonderFest. Bill is survived by his loving wife Barb (TS-52162), daughter Denise (TS-8760), son William, and step-son Lee. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. "Buckets Off" On the 24th of April 2020, Santiago Giro (TK-25953) passed away. Santiago was 501st Legion Garrison Argentina’s first Incinerator Trooper, a source of pride for both garrison and costumer alike. Santiago was well liked and trusted within his community. When he was not helping others, or improving his costumes, Santiago could be found trooping. As often as possible. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow troopers I hope this newsletter finds you all safe and well. Now that we are 3 months, or our first quarter in to the term, lets do a Detachment plan health check. As per our proposals in the election we are working towards making good on as many of those promises as possible considering the current global situation and its impact on some of the staff and our members Merch: The FISD 5" shield patch interest thread has closed and we have our initial quotes. Once we do a little more due diligence the approval will be sent off to legion and LFL and we wait for the sign off. Soon enough we will have a sales thread open and all systems go. Work is also underway designing our special piece for us to celebrate 1000 Expert infantry approved. That number is fast approaching and we are excited. New Visual guides for Level 2 EI, and Lvl 3 Centurion: First off, allow me to congratulate Jeff, TK-50297 (wingnut65) for the amazing work he has put in, not only updating the existing visual guides for ANH Stunt and Hero, but also creating new guides for ESB, RotJ and the HWT costumes. But wait, there's more.... he is also working on even more of these visual guides for our other costumes, there is no stopping this guy. These guides don't take 5 minutes to build either, Jeff has put in some serious overtime referencing CRL's and some of the specifics the DO's look at when doing approvals. Yep his OCD focus is why we love his work. Thank you Jeff on behalf of the entire detachment for making life easier for all that dream of building their armour to higher levels. DL's Blog: This was kicked off in late Feb, giving some transparency of what your command staff are discussing and planning behind the scenes. It also allows a platform for minor updates between news letters. These will continue throughout the year. Forum clean up and archiving: This is as you can probably imagine, a rather large task. There are years of threads images and topics to sort through. Some of that information is now completely out of date and in some cases no longer relevant. For the record, we aren't deleting anything, it all gets moved to the archive section and kept for historical reference. The aim is to de-clutter various forums and make the effort to find information a little less daunting. Not much has been moved yet, but it has started and we will keep you updated on what we do move to archive. Other Forum maintenance: OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT As I have mentioned in the DL's blog recently, there will be some forum maintenance taking place in the near future. We will be relocating some sections (not archiving or deleting), and this first phase of this has begun. With this brings the official announcement of the newest dedicated section to our forums It gives me great pleasure to officially open the First Order Battle Group! What is the First Order battle Group why have we created it. This is your one stop home for all things related to the First Order Stormtroopers. What you will find within these corridors: CRL's, Build threads, vendors and accessory lists, Howto guides, plenty of recommendations & valuable resources to get you up and running ready for battle. This section has been designed to keep it simple when researching your first build or adding to an existing costume. No more digging through countless pages of OT TK threads to find all your First order needs. This new section will continue to grow as we relocate FO specific information into this truly dedicated section of our forms. Our First order members and newbies are a very important part of our community and as promised in my Election speech, we are moving froward in giving them an easier path to costuming excellence, a much more visible and dedicated presence, and as the section statement expresses, no more digging through tons of OT stuff you don't need, to find what you do. I really hope this does make life easier for many from this day forward. If you wish to view the First order section as its own forum, simply click or double click on the gray bar at the top in the forums section and it opens with the above graphic and header info. We have plenty of other plans to start on as the year progresses, and we will continue to re-assess these each quarter as life hopefully returns to more normality for everyone in the near future. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. Other program notes: • Helping remotely, giving advice, or taking payment in exchange for help does not account, all work must be voluntary and without expectation of compensation. • The assistance must be for a period of 30 minutes or more. Spending 15 minutes tweaking someone’s fitting or taking photos does not count. • "wins" can be retroactive, e.g. if you helped 5 people in 2017 already, those can count as long as they are fully documented. Award Levels • 5+ “wins”: FISD Armorer Badge • 15+ “wins” FISD Senior Armorer Badge • 25+ “wins” FISD Master Armorer Badge The process • Person applying for the award will create an application thread to track the help they give. • For each “win”, they will list the person they helped achieve Expert Infantry status by copying their EI approval thread. • For each “win”, the person who was helped will validate that this person helped them. Basic guidelines: Stories read need to be copyrighted Disney/LFL material (i.e. Star Wars kids books or short stories) Reader should introduce themselves with their club ID, and not their character name only. I.e. "This is TK-123 from The 501st Legion's ABC Garrison". Not "I'm a Stormtrooper from Star Wars". Background in video should be neutral or Star Wars-centric. Doesn't need to be totally blank/neutral, but just be mindful of what shows up on the screen. Videos should be shot horizontally and saved in mp4 format Audio/video does not need to be in English. Subtitles would be a plus for the hearing impaired and English-only speakers. Length should be short-ish (keep child attention span limits in mind). Maybe less than 10 minutes? Room for adjustment as this program evolves. Our aim is to have at least one in each and every Garrison, Squad and Outpost in the entire legion to be the eyes and ears of the FISD on a local level. A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. Being active on the boards on a regular basis , welcoming new members and helping out where you can is, though. Some of the benefits: 1. Access to exclusive Attaché merch., including patches, etc. 2. Having the Imperial Attaché title under your name. 3. Being a part of the team that welcomes new and prospective members of the FISD. 4. Being the "go-to" person in your Garrison, Squad or Outpost. 5. Exclusive access to the Attaché HQ area, Imperial Propaganda Machine (newsletter) and merchandise discussions. Hope everyone is doing well, we are all here if anyone ever needs to get anything out, times are tough we all need someone to talk to. As for the FISD community.....First off we’ve seen Sebastiano (TK37015) become the first new attaché of 2020. Sebastiano Reached out to me and requested to step up into the attaché roll. Sebastiano will be a great help to the new troopers in his home town of Sicily Italy. Then we saw Mario (TKSpartan) receive the Attaché Achievement Award. Mario has been very helpful in giving advice quickly when questions are asked. He’s gone the extra mile to help people out online and it’s been noticed. Lastly but most recently. Mark (TK-42134) was also given the Attaché Achievement Award due to his exceptional work with last years shirt run. Between paperwork and running to the post office these merch runs Can be time consuming. Mark put a lot of time and effort into it and the run ended well. We appreciate him stepping up to such a big task for the community. Speaking of stepping up to merch runs you may have noticed the upcoming shield patch run. Just want to say thank you to Anthony (Redforce) for volunteering to take this run on. There is no doubt he’ll do a great job and it’s appreciated. Myself and the command staff are truly thankful for everything everyone does to help this community. We see Attaches stepping up, people aspiring to be Attaches, and even new people passing on information they’ve recently learned. This community just keeps on giving. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forum. This area lists all those who have gone above and beyond basic approval toward screen accuracy. FOR April - May the 1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment would like to congratulate: Expert Infantry Badge Award: Gaines Tidwell "Vengeance" TK 3437 EIB 963 Ted C. Now that many of us are unfortunately stuck at home and boredom is beginning to take it's toll, it's time to wipe the dust off of that armor bin and become a part of FISD history! Instead of binge-watching re-runs, we are suggesting that you put the D.O. Staff to the test and spend some time on that white armor you miss wearing so much by applying for your Expert Infantry badge! As you may be aware, we are aiming to have #1000 approved by the end of the year. We only have 35 to go, so in order to reach that goal we are asking that you read over the CRLs for your particular armor, (this thread will help) make any necessary adjustments and post up your submission! Photo Checklist- Link here Apply Here Questions: 1. Not sure if I have what it takes to get my EI badge- You don't know until you try, and you have not only the D.O. staff but an entire Detachment to help! 2. I need some repairs/fixes first- This is why we are here! We honestly want you to succeed and are here to help in any way we can. 3. I am happy with the way my armor looks, so why bother?- It not only makes you look more screen accurate, it instills a sense of pride and "esprit de corps"! 4. What if I don't make it? No worries, we will provide detailed suggestions on how to reach your goal! Benefits: 1 Bragging rights for being one of the "Original 1000" 2. You get a cool badge under your name here on the FISD. (Street cred). 3. Access to EI rocker badges (coming soon) to go above your FISD patch (also coming soon)! 4. Access to coin runs for EI awardees only. 5. Certificate for your accomplishment. 6. You'll be one step closer to Centurion! 7. Most importantly, having a more screen accurate looking set of armor!! Know that the entire Staff and those who have reached Levels 2 (and 3) are here to help in any way we can, and that you are more than welcome (and encouraged) to ask any and all questions you may have here on this thread, or contact myself or Sha Sha. There will be a very special piece of merch available for when we hit the 1000. Something to celebrate this auspicious occasion. It is already in the design phase, and will honor the old and the new. It will be a one off run as we only get to celebrate this milestone once, and I know you wont want to miss out. You can do it, Troopers. Let's turn this "anno horribilis" into a banner year for the FISD! 35 and counting Greetings Troopers. The Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. Because Fire Teams are unofficial groups, they cannot have any 501st or FISD markings, including 501st Legion, 501st, Legion logos, Vader's Fist etc. on their branding or logos. However, Teams will be allowed to use any unique markings at informal events provided they follow these guidelines. Guidelines No 501st or FISD markings. Period. Any active Legion member with a valid stormtrooper costume in the specified geographic area can join. The Team can create a name, logo, backstory, etc. for itself (names usually contain Fire Team, though this isn't required). A list of each Team (with their specific "Teams Name") with a current list their members will be kept in the Fire Team sub-forum on the Detachment website. A Team member must troop at least twice per year to maintain status as a member. Two or more Team members must troop together once per year to keep the group active. Merchandising Again, no 501st or FISD markings. Merchandising will only be limited by the imagination of the Fire Team. Any merchandising should be submitted to the detachment, or through proper Legion channels. A master list of all Fire Team merchandise (with photos) will be posted in the Fire Team sub-forum. If any of these guidelines are violated, the group will be disbanded. Here is a link to the Fire Team area: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/130-fire-team-area/ 501st membership is needed to view this area. This is a great program that is strictly just for fun and it also allows fellow TK's get to know each other better. I would love to help any Garrison/area get a Fire Team started, just let me know what I can do to help. If you would like to register a Fire Team here is the link In other business, just a reminder, if you have an addition, removal or any other change in you Fire Team's status, send me a PM and I'll get you all squared away. I trooped with my Anovos for 2,5 years and it still is in good shape. It has some cracks and chips, but that’s normal and can easily be fixed. you should check, with what the armor was glued together. If it was E6000 or similar you can still refit the parts if they don’t fit you. if super glue was used, it could be a bigger problem refitting stuff.1 point

I had a similar problem with an anovos Shin, what I did is to apply hot bath and bend the pieces a little so the get a better shape., hope this can give you and idea of what to do. Cheers1 point

Build materials: Tools - Lexan Scissors- Curved and straight, for cutting ABS/fiberglass. Example Exacto knives- (large and small) For those detailed cuts. Example Steel ruler- (At least 18 inches long). For use as a cutting guide on straight edges. Example Rare earth (neodymium) magnets- SUPER strong, used in lieu of clamps in hard to reach areas. Assorted clamps- (The more the merrier). You can't have too many of these. Example Pencil- For marking cut lines. Cut resistant gloves- Especially helpful if you are prone to cutting yourself. Available online for about $12.00 Example Dremel (rotary) tool- with plastic cutting and barrel sanding bits- The name brand (Dremel) is great, but there are many other brands available for less. If you're really adventurous and $ is no object hand held and bench mounted belt sanders. Glues - (ABS and 3D printed armor) Zap-A-Gap - CA (super) glue. Used for armor assembly and can be sanded, though not recommended as a filler. Example Zip Kicker- Instantly sets CA glue. Available in aerosol or pump. Example E-6000 - Can be used in specific areas, but due to it's flexibility it is only recommended for attaching greeblies prior to or after painting, IMPORTANT! NOT SUGGESTED for seams requiring filler or paint. Example Flexible Fiberglass armor - E-6000 - OK for assembly, but not suggested for seams requiring filler and paint If you have the funds available, a Plastic welder with dispensing tool and extra tips is suggested Plastic Welder- High Strength MMA Adhesive- Example Dispensing Gun- Example Nozzles- 3M Static Mixing Nozzles Example Paint related - Sandpaper- 400, 800 grit wet & dry Example Sanding blocks (same grit as above) Sanding pads- 3M Scotch-Brite General Purpose, Ultra Fine and Light Duty types- Example Painter's tape - Blue type, 1 and 2 inch widths Spot putty - 3M Acryl Putty, (white) Example Spray Paint- 12 oz Rust-Oleum 2x gloss white - Example Primer -12 oz. I'm making the last changes to my armor just have to wait for my new helmet and should be in the position to be approved and join EIB! Hopefully I can get into the first 10001 point

The last two pics are from my helmet and I literally went to Michaels, grabbed some blue fabric from the clearance area, and glued it in there. Just try to get something breathable so air can get through it, if you grab wool or something, you are going to have a bad time.1 point

I used velcro on my armor but only for comfort when putting it on, I'm close to half a century, and it's hard to bend down. But if you want the highest screen accurate level the correct method is using clips and eyelets.1 point

Here in Spain, we look out the windows and we applaud at 20:00 p.m. every day, to the doctors, nurses, policemen..., who risk their lives for us ... I always go out with my helmet ... It is not like going down the street with my helmet on, but it is a good start...1 point

Hi future trooper, the velcro on the backs of shins is aceptable for all levels, you can browse the EIB and Centurion request sections. For the stuff you're going to need , the following section can be useful. Cheers1 point

All ANH helmets are held together with 4 rivets. 1 on each side behind the ear caps and 1 on each side at the base of the ear caps, as in the photo posted above.1 point

Hi Ben, Personally, I use Satin black for mine for a slightly aged look. Here’s the process I use; That’s part of a full series of helmet building and painting videos so I hope they help. :-) Best wishes Dan.1 point

Good work. I bought a 3d printing pen for the same purpose, soldering iron is a good idea too though.1 point

So today I took this: And turned it into this: This was mostly just a case of sanding all the seams with 120 to get them flat. Then super gluing as carefully as I could, 1 or 2 could be better but even then noting serious. Some Superglue accelerator really helped on the first few sections, it speeds up the set so you can let go but it does mean you need to be accurate lining stuff up. At this point I couldn't resist a fit test. Not in an under suit but I am really happy with the size, it just about perfect. Once that was done I went along and "welded" all the seams on the back. This involves using a soldering iron to melt in some additional PLA+ to weld the parts together. The tip is a pretty chunky 4mm ish one. My iron takes standard 900M tips so I bough a cheap pack on eBay with some big tips in. Just make sure you remove the pre-tinning solder first. Fortunately I practised on some scrap sections first as one is covered in solder. The jist is melt some extra filament into the seam and then sort of press it in. It's a bit fiddly but like anything gets easier and neater as you go. It's not perfect but I'm getting better at it. I was running my iron at 400C which seemed to work well. Before: After: I used some of my sizing test parts as a practice so I went and stress tested one. Flexing "out" as it trying to get it on the part flexes quite a long way, far further than I'll need. No cracks or nasty sounds heard. Flex it "in" towards you and it fails catastrophically very quickly. However the welds hold, the breaks shot off down a filament line and de-laminated. Pretty happy with this result. I'll sand the seam with some 120 to remove the sharp edges too. I am still thinking I'll run some fibre glass along them as well. The Last think I want is the ab plate to split into 2 or more bits trying to get into it. I also assembled the rear TD plate and did the same to that. There's a small lip at the bottom. I assume to hold the plate on but I suspect I'll end up removing it, leaving the top hook, and just use velcro or something along those lines.1 point

Hi Peter, I think all of us were nervous and amazed when see all those plastic pieces for the first time. My case I haven't build nothing never but finally did it. Here you can find tons of info about the armor build process and our very experienced Troopers are willing to help. I would recommend to watch some videos about Stormtrooper Armor Build on YouTube so you can figure out what the process involves. The following is about RS Prop Master Armor but you can search many others. Don't be shy and make all the questions, we are here to help. "TROOPERS HELPING TROOPERS"1 point

Hello Peter...There are easier things and more difficult things, but with the help of everyone in Whitearmor, you can get it... I don't consider myself very skilful, but I got it, it wasn't as difficult as I thought. Always keep in mind, before cutting anything, always ask... The decision is yours... Here we are for what you need...1 point

It's a valuable tip you've got to hung parts that are ready to be primed. Whenever I see someone painting something that isn't hung-up, it drives me absolutely crazy! How are you supposed to evenly paint the whole piece in one go, and make sure to reach all the areas, and don't get dust lifted from the ground, and...... Huuuh.... I could go on for hours. Personally when I don't have a suspending point, such as a hole, or something similar, the way I do it now is to bondo directly the wire to the inside of the part. You basically need to grind it with a dremel when comes the time to remove it, but the good thing is that it allows to suspend heavy parts as well. I remember one time, having finished to lay the final coat of gloss white to something that was quite heavy, leave the area, only to hear a loud thud minutes later. I went to see and found out the part on ground with a huge crack running its surface. It had been suspended for a couple of days (priming and white paint) and its weight had finally managed to break the tape that was holding the wire to the part. Needless to say that was quite the bummer!1 point

Welcome to my world, Cricket! Amazing job so far, but I have one question: Are you taking commissions for the full size version? (Just kidding). I think we need to change your FISD Kudos title to "Best SW Mom Ever"!1 point

What do people think of these as far as hole postioning? I printed a test "hole" and 1" + 2mm works for the width and 3mm works height wise. Allows for a 1" tab of 1.5 Aluminium and also some 25mm elastic with some Velcro on (I dug through my left overs and tested it would fit)1 point

So I was talking to our DL and he encouraged me to post my story here. 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and went through surgery and three months of chemo therapy. With that therapy came a long time of being pretty much inactive, while eating all sorts of crap just to be able to actually taste something (for instance a normal slice of bread with cheese would taste like mushy cardboard, it still makes me sick thinking about it). And unlike what you'd expect, my appetite was pretty strong! So obviously I gained quite a bit of weight. Being the lazy butt I was, I never felt motivated to get up and do something about it even after I was through with the chemo. In fact it got even worse with me picking up an office job and joining a team with a virtually endless supply of sweets and other treats. So instead of losing weight, I kept going up. The sad peak was just before (and during) our last trip to Disneyland at the end of February this year. I was at 89kg (196lbs) at 173cm (5'8"). Way too much... I still felt okay-ish, but seeing pics of our trip made me realise something needed to change. This was right around the time Corona got serious and counter measures were being taken. Which meant the bus I usually take to get to work was - and still is - not operating that early in the morning, forcing me to walk 3.5km each morning to catch my train. Instead of feeling sour about it, I used this as motivation to do even more. Now I've been doing 15,000 steps on average each day for roughly the past 2 months and simply stopped eating non-stop like a pig. And it shows! For the first time in 5 years, I am actually below 80kg (79.2 for the last couple of days, so around 174lbs), meaning I already lost a whopping 10kg! My goal is to lose a couple more kilos still, but it was an amazing moment kitting up in my classic TK (built to the original RS suit size) for the first time in such a long time and actually fitting into it again (although it was still a tight squeeze... but we're working on that :)) So yeah, this is my little story. Shows that all it takes is determination and a little self discipline and it is entirely possible to get back into TK shape!1 point
