So hey, I'm Art. I'm addicted to all things Star Wars. I've been building costumes and props for a while (I actually have a degree in it, but I do it for fun now) and am just getting started with the 501st. Looking to order a kit from Mark at AP. I am looking forward to assembling this with my daughter. Long story short, she developed cancer and we ran into a those trooping at a Cancer benefit from the Carolina Garrison and I was hooked! She's on her last chemo run and we are excited to get started!4 points

Known for his many roles in the films of Ingmar Bergman, Sydow had kept busy in recent years, as well — turning up in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, portraying an elder who comes under scrutiny by Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren. As well as a role on Game of Thrones, as a recurring character called The Three-Eyed Raven. Sydow also, of course, starred in The Exorcist as Father Lankester Merrin, and is a key figure in one of the most iconic moments in horror film history as a result: Our condolences go out to his family and friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow Stormtroopers Welcome to the first newsletter of the new term. I would like to start by thanking everyone that took the time to vote, not only in the detachment but garrison and legion elections. The Q and A’s can be a monumental read but it is your legion and is an opportunity for all to play a small part in the direction it takes. We have a lot to cover off in this addition so I will start with the staff changes. We will work with the staff and members to make this place better for everyone. If you have ideas, please feel free to reach out and talk with any of us and let’s see if we can make sure FISD is the premier detachment, and forum everyone talks about for the right reasons, and a place that others want to visit. The future There will be several new initiatives throughout the term of which a couple will kick off in March. One I launched just over a week ago with the DL’s Blog. The newsletter is our mainstream mass mail out to keep everyone up to date on a monthly basis. The DL’s Blog is to keep those that frequent the forums up to date on what the staff are doing behind the scenes. It’s a means for me to give you the goss and updates on how we are tracking. It may not all be exciting to everyone but its aim is to offer more insight and transparency. CRL Translation Team We have moved into the test and benchmark phase with a small team of attaches to start translating our CRL’s into multiple languages. Once we have a good indication of how long each one will take this team will continue to change so we can bring more languages online. The most difficult aspect of this will be keeping all the languages up to date when changes are made to CRL’s as does happen almost yearly, but we do intend to be the first detachment with a high count of countries covered. This is a big project and I expect it will continue through the year. For the sake of boring you all with an even larger wall of text, I shall conclude here. Until the next edition, here’s to a HUGE year for FISD With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Hey fellow Troopers Ukswrath here, welcome to another fantastic year with the FISD. First I'd like to thank all those that elected us to serve you as staff, and to everyone else I hope we earn your trust and respect as the year goes on. Also, thank you to Andrew for all his hard work and efforts to get us here, and to the rest of the staff your willingness to serve others. Members, as you may have noticed our team has hit the ground running. From CRL additions & updates, up and coming events like the SWC Anaheim, to march to EIB 1000 and merch, this is going to be one incredible year for all of us. This section will allow future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. Other program notes: • Helping remotely, giving advice, or taking payment in exchange for help does not account, all work must be voluntary and without expectation of compensation. • The assistance must be for a period of 30 minutes or more. Spending 15 minutes tweaking someone’s fitting or taking photos does not count. • "wins" can be retroactive, e.g. if you helped 5 people in 2017 already, those can count as long as they are fully documented. Award Levels • 5+ “wins”: FISD Armorer Badge • 15+ “wins” FISD Senior Armorer Badge • 25+ “wins” FISD Master Armorer Badge The process • Person applying for the award will create an application thread to track the help they give. • For each “win”, they will list the person they helped achieve Expert Infantry status by copying their EI approval thread. • For each “win”, the person who was helped will validate that this person helped them. You can find the master award area here https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/182-fisd-master-armorer-program/ “Hey troopers, The replica section of the FISD has had some interesting discussions in the past. It’s a great area to discuss the finer details of the original stormtrooper suits, including strapping, how parts were cut and fitted, lots of little details that make the original suits so special. However, traffic has been a little low in recent times and the section has been under-utilised. So, it’s time to give this area some attention and add new tips and tricks for those that are looking to follow the original suits and helmets more closely. I’m Dan (CableGuy), and will be working together with Daniel (theSwede), to update this section a little more. We both have a keen interest in building highly accurate Stormtroopers, always using original screen caps for reference. As former FISD Deployment Officers, we both have keen eyes for detail and take pride in sharing accurate information to new and existing builders. Of course, there are some amazingly knowledgable members of the FISD and we welcome and encourage input from the community. As well as the replica section highlighting features of the original suits, we’ll also aim to show some of the processes for troopers to use when creating their own screen accurate Stormtrooper armour and helmets. Our aim is to have at least one in each and every Garrison, Squad and Outpost in the entire legion to be the eyes and ears of the FISD on a local level. A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forum. This area lists all those who have gone above and beyond basic approval toward screen accuracy. Request your free EIB certificate here Centurion Badge Award: - - - - - - - Outstanding job on reaching Centurion, Troopers! Request your free Centurion certificate here If you see any of these Troopers around your Garrison or Squad, be sure to congratulate them! As many of you are aware, the FISD is currently in our March to 1000 program. Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal and have just reached the 953 mark! The amount of approved submissions is increasing thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help. You can also contact myself "Frank75139" or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you! Greetings Troopers. The Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. Because Fire Teams are unofficial groups, they cannot have any 501st or FISD markings, including 501st Legion, 501st, Legion logos, Vader's Fist etc. on their branding or logos. However, Teams will be allowed to use any unique markings at informal events provided they follow these guidelines. Guidelines No 501st or FISD markings. Period. Any active Legion member with a valid stormtrooper costume in the specified geographic area can join. The Team can create a name, logo, backstory, etc. for itself (names usually contain Fire Team, though this isn't required). A list of each Team (with their specific "Teams Name") with a current list their members will be kept in the Fire Team sub-forum on the Detachment website. A Team member must troop at least twice per year to maintain status as a member. Two or more Team members must troop together once per year to keep the group active. Merchandising Again, no 501st or FISD markings. Merchandising will only be limited by the imagination of the Fire Team. Any merchandising should be submitted to the detachment, or through proper Legion channels. A master list of all Fire Team merchandise (with photos) will be posted in the Fire Team sub-forum. If any of these guidelines are violated, the group will be disbanded. Here is a link to the Fire Team area: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/130-fire-team-area/ 501st membership is needed to view this area. Hi! My name is Ana. I'm from the general Seattle area. I've been in love with Star Wars since I was 5 years old when I saw ANH for the first time. As a child I was not encouraged to be a full fledged nerd, because "girls don't like Star Wars". Thankfully I met some pretty amazing people in Garrison Titan, and I can confidently say I have found my tribe. I've volunteered with Garrison Titan at Emeral City Comic Con a few times, and I enjoy spotting for a good friend of mine who is an ROTS Vader. After seeing TROS, I've absolutely fallen in love with the Sith Trooper armor, and I am extremely excited to begin the journey becoming apart of the 501st. My friends suggested I start here, and do lots of research. Needless to say, I'm super stoked and cannot wait to troop!2 points

Hi Mike. Here is the link to my build on that part. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28778-bulldog44-dd-e-11build/?do=findComment&comment=368348 Sorry it’s not well documented in detail but I did record saying it was .8mm thin aluminum sheeting. It’s merely a cosmetic faceplate to look like the bolt but it does move back considerably like a real bolt. It’s held in place with the help of the cocking pin & to the parts underneath. It rests against the spring so it has a bit of recoil when pulled back. Not entirely durable but it works as I intended. If you want me to shoot a quick video I can do that for you. it was a a fun mod to do but took a lot of resin carving out and patience. The .8mm aluminum plate was easy to bend over a metal pipe. And easy to cut, sand to shape. Happy to answer mor e questions if you have them. Shoot me a PM or reply here. Cheers Tino! . It’s good to revisit some of these mods as it’s been a long time since I did them and could use a refresher.2 points

Hi trooper, Great work so far. :-) If you are removing the should bridges again, here’s a little accuracy upgrade that you could consider. As below, the original screen used shoulder straps had nice, square corners. This ‘could’ be a little tweak for you, if you fancied that extra nth of accuracy. :-) This is not clearance related, just an optional upgrade. :-) Best wishes Dan2 points

I finally had a chance to get together with my squadmate Scott who also ordered Jim's FOTK. We are super exited to be working on them together! After 2 hours of sanding inside the pieces with 220 grit sandpaper we were impressed by the amount of progress we made! Nearly all the pieces were sanded, just a few more left! I also ordered a FOTK Squad Leader Pauldron from IG - hoping it shows up soon. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk2 points

Big weekend for progress on the kit - took several steps forward (and a few back), but it's coming along! The big step was finally adding additional resin to the backsides of all the armor. This kit is my first time working with fiberglass or resin, so it was a learning experience forsure. After prepping the inside of the panels by scuffing with 100grit sandpaper, as previously mentioned, I went with FibreGlast 1110 vinylester resin, which is catalyzed by a mix of 1.25% MEKP. I bought a quart of the stuff along with their basic mixing kit that included several gloves, measuring and mixing cups, and stir sticks, and I ordered several extra cheap chip brushes. I did a test run to ensure that the resin would bond to the existing fiberglass matting/resin and would remain flexible, while adding strength (it did, though I must not have added enough MEKP or mixed properly, as it took a looooong time to fully harden). For the first full batch, I used a syringe I had laying around (for refilling fountain pens, not anything nefarious haha) to precisely measure out the proper amount of MEKP and mixed it into 300ml of resin, then stirred (trying not to mix in bubbles), and transferred to another cup to work out of. It turns from a light pink to a light brown when properly mixed, I learned. You can also use what resin is left in your cup as a gauge for how cured the rest of the resin is. Using the chip brushes, I applied a thin layer of resin to all of the inside armor surfaces (except the arms... I'll do a final 100ml batch for those and any other pieces later). I definitely mixed up too much the first time - 200ml is all I could probably use before it started setting up and became the consistency of like Jell-O instead of maple syrup like it was. I ended up tossing about 100ml of hardened resin in the cup, but live and learn. I mixed up another 100ml and used that to do a second coat on higher-stress areas like the shoulder tabs, chest armor neck line, and posterior armor. If it isn't obvious already, wear gloves, cheap clothes you don't mind ruining, and for god's sake, PPE in the form of a ventilator. I already have lymphoma, I don't need lung cancer too. While I was at it, I did a little repair on one of the belt boxes - it had a super thin spot in the wall that had already cracked, so I mixed up more of that flexible bumper filler and added some in to ensure it was strong, then a little more resin. The whole adding resin adventure turned out supersuper well over all and I would definitely recommend what I did to others. It helped add strength to all of the panels as well as "sealing" the open fibers that were super itchy and rough, but maintained a firm flex. You can see the smoother, glossier finish on the below shot. Next up, I sprayed all the insides of the panels with a flat white for good measure. (Ended up waiting on the thighs, as I wanted to split them and add a little more resin before painting the inside. Also, I just so happened to run out of the rattle can I was using after spraying everything else). I split the back of the thighs later in the day using my Dremel cut off wheel, then a 60grit sanding block to smooth my cut lines out. I'm a slimmer guy, so it'll be nice to overlap these and size em down a bit. I'll add a little extra resin where I chopped them when I coat the arms. After cleaning up any stray resin droplets (what I get for not masking anything) on the front sides of the armor, I sprayed several panels with flat white primer as well. I also sprayed the helmet after giving it a quick wet sand with 400grit and allowing it to dry fully. I'm going to have my pro paint guy paint it for me, but I figured it wouldn't hurt - and it came out surprisingly smooth. Aaaaaand here's several of the main panels, with both sides successfully in flat white 2X primer. I'm pretty darn pleased with how things are going so far, but there's lots more work to be done! Next up is more wet sanding, then a couple final coats of high gloss white! Doing my final chemotherapy infusion this Friday the 13th, so likely no progress until the weekend after, but we'll see how I'm feeling!2 points

I have moved in back into university. So my build will continue but at a slower rate. I have tried to work on my helmet more but ended up ruining my ears I don't believe I can get my helmet to standards by myself. I am planning to buy a pre-built but keep my original helmet to work on it over time after my build maybe for a present for my dad. Hopefully over the next week or so I will receive my backpack with ABS that matches my Armour. I am also resizing my thighs so they look a lot better they are pretty large after trimming working on this ATM. I have also looked into @husky68 build thread for his ab and kidney plate strapping. It is an amazing way of doing it and this might be the best for me after a hot water bath on my kidney armour.2 points

WOW, William... looking GREAT! I don't see anything holding you back from Basic approval, but as you mentioned you might think about raising the biceps a bit more to stop them flaring out. Let us know when you get your official TK ID!!2 points

Just got an update that my blasters are being shipped next week. Pretty excited to get these. Plus I’ll be getting the latest BlastFX kit. Also, as a side note. I have ordered Teresa’s shiny shorts. I was wearing my stormtrooper undersuit and the latex (or whatever it is) is already peeling off. I like the suit just fine. But I obviously need the shiny material for approval. Would I buy the suit over again? Probably not considering you can’t really see it and the shiny part comes off. But it is comfy and the shirt and pants stay together since it’s a suit. First and foremost... There is no one 'best' armor. There is a 'best' armor for *you* depending on a few factors: 1) Your budget 2) What your body size is (yes, different armors lend themselves for different body types) * 3) How experienced are you at building armor 4) It's not the kit, it's how it's fitted to the wearer that counts * While FISD does not endorse any particular armor maker, below are sellers who have proven themselves time and again in terms of customer service, honesty, and quality. All makes below can be made to be both 501st and FISD acceptable. MATERIALS Armor is made from either HIPS or ABS. HIPS --- Pros: generally less expensive, easier to trim. --- Cons: needs painting or serious polishing to look shiny. Most HIPS will not be as durable as ABS or take the stress of ABS --- Suitability: will hold up fine for regular trooping ABS --- Pros: no need to paint, high durability --- Cons: may lack the detail of HIPS, usually harder to trim --- Suitability: will hold up fine for regular trooping plus take a lot of abuse OTHER TERMS Untrimmed: means the kit comes untrimmed and you'll have to trim the parts before starting assembly. Trimmed: parts are pre-trimmed and you can start assembling right away ANH Derived: traces back to a screen used helmet. Armor came from an incomplete ROTJ suit that was supplemented with parts from a tour suit, with this base being modified to be more ANH accurate in detailing. Parts will need to be butt joined with a finishing strip glued on top. * ON SIZING ANH Derived armor (TE2, AP) was sculpted for a typical UK actor circa 1976, e.g. 5'10" and 165lbs. While good for smaller body types, it has been successfully made to fit people as large as 6'4" 235lbs though requires a bit of shimming to pull this off. 1. If you are taller or larger in frame/girth, you may want to consider AM, RT, or TM armor makes for easier fitting. 2. If you are shorter, while ANH derived armor may lend itself to your size, even FX armor has been made to fit and look good on people as small as 5'6" and 115lbs (and smaller!). 3. RT has upsized his helmet by 4-5% which makes it equivalent to the size of the old FX but is more accurate in appearance. So, while it's true that every kit has a certain ideal body type, every make has been made to fit every body type and still look good. WHO TO AVOID 1. Be aware that this site - http://www.stormtroo...s.com/home.html - is not considered commercially available. It is run by a person selling recast parts, and at a healthy premium over what you can buy direct from vetted sources. You've been warned... 2. Do not buy from e-bay - kits are over-priced, the quality is often dubious, and always recast. 3. Also see this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19329-where-what-and-whom-to-avoid-when-buying/ COMMISSION BUILDS Please be aware before purchasing a "commission build" (assembled by any of our vetted sellers listed below) or a completed costume sold by reputable members, does not mean an automatic pass at our higher levels of approval. As with all costumes, the armor will be under the same level of scrutiny as one you assemble yourself. It must fit well and follow correctly the requirements as set out in the current CRL. Please also bare in mind, you could be requested to make modifications and corrections when applying for Expert Infantry and Centurion levels where additional reference materials are used over and above what is written in said CRL's. Some example are sniper plate positioning, rivet placement and the finer details scrutinized at Centurion. VETTED MAKERS While there are many other sources for armor, the list below only contains those who have proven track records of honest business dealings, quality craftsmanship, and that are free from recast debates. You are certainly free to buy where you will, but if you vary this list we strongly encourage that you at least do your due diligence inquiring about the seller's quality and reputation before parting with your money. === ANH DERIVED ARMOR === Type: ATA (Affordable Trooper Armor) Sadly Unavailable until further notice Country: USA Contact: Kit: ABS (HIPS by request), untrimmed, ANH derived Availability Assembly: Armor needs to be trimmed, parts butt joined with finishing strips, HIPS needs to be painted. Comments: The armor is ABS, not bright white and glossy like FX. Due to material thickness lines are a little softer than some other makers. Should shine well with Mr Sheen. Type: WTF (Walt) Country: USA Contact: Walt on FISD Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/612005498911674/user/1145629985/ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/612005498911674 Kit: ABS, untrimmed, ANH derived Availability Current wait times are 6-8 weeks. Comments: No issues with quality or service reported to date. === ANH FAN SCULPT === Type: RT-Mod (RT) / RT-Panda Country: Canada Contact: [email protected] Kit: ABS, close trimmed, fan sculpt. Updated bucks for the majority of the armor and helmet in 2018 to meet Centurion level standards (separate ab button plate, kidney notches, etc). Availability: Currently about 8 month wait. Assembly: Parts are "close trimmed" (a thicker return edge is left on all parts for those seeking more accuracy for strapping brackets etc. Final trimming is far less work than "untrimmed off the buck" armor. Designed to be easy to put together (regarded as one of the easiest kits to assemble as all "halves of lumbs etc. line up to one another without problems). Designed for butt joined limbs with a formed ridge with cover strips. Some parts can be formed without ridges present. Helmet comes as a kit as of 2019. Options: ANH stunt, ESB hand armor Comments: Designed especially for taller/larger body types and has more capacity to fit these troopers (without shims) than most makes of armor. There are 2 sizes of back armor, 3 sizes of thighs, 2 sizes of shins / calves, and the ab / kidney will accommodate approx 40" waist without shims. The thighs are wider and can accomodate a wide range of sizes. Female troopers often order thighs / shins to accommodate wider hips etc. The armor and helmet are sculpted at 4% larger than an original kit. The difference is subtle but makes fitting/sizing much easier for taller/larger troopers (has been worn very easily by troopers from 6' to 6'5"). Type: AM (Armor Master) - Dave’s Darkside Depot Country: USA Contact: [email protected] or https://www.facebook.com/Daves-Darkside-Depot-1188080927989611 Kit: ABS. All body armor components including face piece and ear pieces are .090 ABS. The one piece dome/back is formed using .125 ABS, as this piece is formed over a rather deep mold and anything thinner can cause thin regions which can eventually crack or fracture. White .060 ABS blanks included to cut as cover-strips. TD clips, rubber gloves and black Nomex flight gloves, flexible hand guards and all Centurion level hardware included. Availability: Normally 4-6 weeks or less. Assembly: Comes trimmed out of the box, but you will still be required to adjust for proper fit to your body size. Good choice for large troopers, but can be cut down. Can be ordered completely pre-assembled for an additional fee. Comments: Chest and back molds have been updated to address past concerns, and are now acceptable to Centurion level. They are now including a custom, die-cut Imperial cog themed helmet liner for the helmets, mounting Velcro included. Hovi tips are professionally cast aluminum. Hero helmets are now available. Type: MTK (NOW SOLD by Imperial Surplus) Country: USA Contact: https://imperialsurplus.com/contact-us/ Website: https://imperialsurplus.com/product-category/armor/original-trilogy-armor/ Armor is made of .70 gauge (1.778 mm) satin gloss white ABS and will withstand the rigors of trooping. Kit comes trimmed for shipping and requires final trimming/fitting. Kit comes with: All ABS plastic required for assembly to include helmet, body parts and joining/cover strips. Helmet accessories include lens material, rubber S trim, Hovi tips, helmet decals (choose between ANH, ANH Sandy & ESB versions) screws, rivets, washers and screen mesh for the frown. Gloves This kit does not include: Blaster, under-suit, holster, boots, Velcro or any instructions but many of these items are available at trooperbay.com Kits can be built to Centurion level when following the correct CRL Availability: Kits generally available on request, spare parts also available and on hand. === ROTJ ARMOR === Type: CFO - note this is for ROTJ armor only (ideal for ROTJ, TK Commander, or Incinerator Troopers). ABS is standard and screen accurate. We can make the armour in any colour HIPS with a 25% deposit. Kits come complete with all plastic parts. Helmets come with resin mic tips cast from an original, black rubber trims, decals and lenses all subject to availability and stock. Availability: Kits available at all times with approx 4 week turnaround time. We have a US distributor who will be able to ship kits within the USA. Assembly: Parts are trimmed and designed to be easy to put together - along with RT is the easiest kit to build. Comments: These suits are cast from original therefore there will be warps, lumps, bumps etc. present on the plastic. The original suits were made to fit actors in the region of 5'10" and 180lb.... there is some flexibility as with all armour which is down to assembly. This armour is no way sanitised or idealised, it is a true representation of what is seen on screen in STAR WARS "The Return Of The Jedi". Other Notes: Hand guards O2 canister/detonator detail and end caps, belt, knee belt and shoulder straps are own sculpt. Necessary/minimal sharpening was done to the moulds to attain the correct level of sharpness lost from the original fibreglass moulds obtained from Cameron Oakley. The original shape and contours are intact and the details and edges have been sharpened as documented in various threads on the FISD and other prop forums. === ROGUE ONE (Mandalorian / Obi Wan / Ahsoka / Enoch / Night Trooper) ARMOR === Type: Jimmiroquai Country: PI Contact: email [email protected] Kit: Kits are lightweight flexible fiberglass. Hi all, Firstly, I’d like to say that Low and higher brow heights are perfectly acceptable and all members are welcome in the legion. I would just highlight that some appear to reflect Stunt or Hero/Promo troopers. The intention of this post is to share educational reference photos with new and aspiring troopers. Based on watching ANH, viewing the many reference photos and additions behind the scenes and historic photos, there is a clear direction regarding various brow heights in ANH. In the spirit of the CRL, this guide would help improve uniformity across the legion. For those that favour a low brow, I would highly recommend checking out the Hero* or Promo Trooper as an ideal option. *please note that not all Hero helmets had a low brow. Below is the Promo Trooper. This features a hero helmet (this is different to the Stunt helmet) and is an iconic look, featuring a low brow (brow trim essentially ‘on’ the top of the eye sockets). There is essentially zero gap between the bubble lenses and the brow trim. There were just six hero helmets made for ANH, made in gloss ABS, intended for close up shots; Luke has a very similar look; Han, on the other hand, had a clear gap (seen here left of shot) 50 Stunt helmets were made for ANH. These were made from green HDPE plastic, then primed and painted. The majority of TKs seen in action and group shots in ANH were Stunt helmets and had a visibly different appearance, including a longer painted ‘frown’ with (for the most part) 4 ‘teeth’ either side, 3 screws per ear rather than 2, flat lenses rather than bubble and (for the majority seen on screen) had a consistent gap between the top of the eyes and the brow. First up is a photo taken outside Shepperton Design Studios and shows approximately half of the 50 Stunt helmets primed and ready to send to the studio. The brow height is consistent across these helmets, each having a clear gap between the eyes and the brow. Note below that perhaps 2 or 3 of 26 helmets have a slightly lower brow. On to screen used, there are a few lower brow stunts featured through ANH, however they are certainly outnumbered by the conventional look. Note the same scenario from ESB (re-using ANH Stunt helmets for the most part); Even quite a few Hero helmets, including Han’s, had the usual gap. I hope that these reference photos help to show the difference with various helmets. This post, and the information included, comes from a passion for the wonderful character that is the Stormtrooper and is not intended as a negative view on those that choose the low brow. Both have their place in our character lineup. I would simply suggest considering the hero or Promo Trooper as an option for those that prefer the low brow. Best wishes Dan NB - credit to StarWarsHelmets.com for a lot of this information. I’ve learned a lot from there over the last couple of years.1 point

OK Troopers, it's time for our annual design contest for Celebration! For those of you who have a creative mind and mad design skills, it's time to step up to the plate and possibly have your original artwork used as the official logo by the FISD to commemorate the biggest SW convention in the world in Anaheim, CA. this year! We are starting this contest early (in case there are delays in shipping) as we want to get these in your hands in time for the big weekend in August! The winning entry will be made into a patch, which will be worn and traded by hundreds (and seen by thousands) at this event. It will also be available as a T-shirt to show off your FISD pride! So how do you enter? Glad you asked! Here is the low-down: 1. The contest will be open to all members. If you can see this post, you can enter! 2. The competition will begin on March 9th and will run until April 9th. After that, a poll will be opened so that everyone can vote on the design they like best. 3. The number of designs you can enter is only limited by your imagination. 4. You are welcome to use any FISD logos in your artwork. 5. Shapes can be round, chevron, or custom. 6. Design MUST include full Detachment name (1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment), 501st Legion, date (Aug. 2020), Anaheim and LFL. Exact dates (27-30) are optional. 7. All entries become property of the FISD/501st Legion. The winner will be announced in the April newsletter and will receive two free patches and other cool swag (to be announced) as well as some serious bragging rights! The finished products will have their own sales thread(s) once the designs are approved and ready to order.1 point

I have a BFA in Technical Theater from UNSCA. One of the studies as part of the degree is props. I used to be in backstage theater. Now a pastor. So now I use it all for fun and enjoyment! (and the occasional sermon illustration!)1 point

I wouldn´t use an exacto to make the mobility cuts, a dremel would be my go-to. Not really except making sure it won´t go past the ridges. To make it more comfortable (if not cutting for mobility) and also stronger is to leave a couple of mm of the edge and glue som strips of abs on the inside and sand it smooth. That way even if there´s contact it won´t hurt and you can be more foreceful when climbing those stairs without damaging the armor. All within reason of course1 point

the extreme racing undersuit is good winter warmth for parades. i wore underarmour heat gear shorts and t-shirt in my fotk. cloth gaskets, i cant imagine the speed it would get toasty with chocolate scented floor mat gaskets :-)1 point

Well maybe if going full throttle with a tin snip there´s a risk but if beeing careful or using a dremel there´s nothing to worry about. Either way the choice is yours1 point

Gotcha - most of us are using X suspenders to hold our barrels up, so I was curious if you were gonna double up or what haha Strapping is more similar to FO's on these builds than ANH it seems like, so it's been interesting to figure out. Keep up the good work!1 point

Hello Art, Welcome to FISD, best wishes for your daughter's recovery and good luck with your armor.1 point

Looks great, good job on all the suggested changes! Should be an easy approval! (Biceps could use some adjusting as mentioned but that's minor!)1 point

I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding , my english skill are not good enough. But, the advantage of using E6000 is that you can remove the piece, clean the dry glue , adjust and reglue again. i'm sure you're going to do it great. cheers1 point

Awesome to see you keep it up my friend. I did the same thing with my thighs and sized them down too. Makes the world of a difference.1 point

Your quick work on this continues to impress me, and makes me think my 9-month TK build is as slow as your extra 100ml of cured resin. Looking forward to seeing the progress, but more importantly, I wish you the best this week with your treatment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

search Galactic Academy, sign her up, and she gets her own GA Id number just like Dad. Any costume counts, they are all about the experience not the details. if assistance technology is prevalent, there are lots of cool ways to incorporate things. make a project out of it, include her, sign up on the detachments that cover a costume she likes, or the rebel legion or mandos, and when she turns 18, give her a TK box :-)1 point

Don't know yet - I'm not sure if i should cut more or cut less? (the two photos I posted have been shopped to give me an idea of what my cuts would look like - replaced blue tape color with black) I think I should cut more (2nd picture) - I think I won't care about the butt pinching as long as I'm styling' Update - Based on your comment, I took it as a good-to-go so I cut along the lines of image #2 - Currently drying some return edge reinforcement and prepping the seams for ABS paste so I can't try it on right now - hopefully it fits well.1 point

Well, it only took me two years to circle back to this build. I ordered a Hero helmet kit and grappling box kit from Troopermaster during the holidays, which will be here very soon. Until then, work resumes on the other stuff! Got Joseph’s all-new Hero hand guards, in matte white (which is a closer match to the film ones): I used plenty of E6000 to get them glued to rubber gloves (stunt gloves for reference):1 point

Fantastic William, you did a really good job! Congratulations trooper!!1 point

The biceps seem loose on you just add some foam padding so they are snug and stay in place. Mark (AP)1 point

Great improvement. If I can offer two cents, not sure if required for basic but further improvements. The biceps could move a little more up or I would try to strap them to sit more straight. They give a off balanced look from the photo. I’m curious about the right side ab/kidney as it has a sharp point? It normally is level like your left side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

As a side note, your drop box elastic appears to be a little too short in that photo. The elastic is pulling the drop box up under the belt. If you can make them a little longer, the drop boxes should hang just below the belt, just touching the bottom of the plastic ammo belt. Example images;1 point

You are going to have to remove the 3 square rivet covers on the plastic belt, if you have glued them already. I hope you used E-6000 if you did. Drill out the pop rivet head until it pops off. The rivet will fall apart easily. Separate the plastic from the canvas. Redo your snaps. Reassemble using the same holes for your rivets. Reapply the plastic square rivet covers.1 point

I assure you that it is my pleasure to help in any way I can, Jonathan. Looking forward to the rest of your build!1 point

Just a small update about the Grappling Hook Box amp mod... It worked flawlessly. I spray painted the end of the mic cord with black vinyl paint so it would blend in better. I was able to be super loud while at the con! It was really nice to not have to repeat myself when talking to people. I was able to even get trooper's attention in a loud parking garage at the beginning of the DragonCon parade (I was wrangling a bunch of us TKs into canon formation). At some point at DragonCon, I spotted another con-goer dressed as a Jedi in an outside patio area. I was about 40 feet away from him, and I said (in a normal voice), "Ugh, rebel scum." I was very surprised when he looked over at me, waved his hand, and said loudly, "There are no rebels around here!" And I replied, "Huh. There are no rebels around here. I'll move along," and I walked away from him. Everyone in the area erupted in laughter. It was awesome to be so easily heard. Very, very happy with this hack to my Grappling Hook Box!1 point
