  1. I can sit in my 1.5mm ABS armour with original strapping without it cracking.

  2. Does no one own a decent camera anymore? Most the images I've seen aren't exactly the best quality.

  5. No, they were made from regular gloss ABS like I use. The problem with most of the 501st armour is it way too rigid and they like to use 2mm or thicker ABS for some strange reason. If you use thick plastic and webbing strapping systems with interlocking hinges and whatever else I seen used, you'll never get to sit down without cracking your armour. The movie strapping works extremely well with the correct ABS and I highly recommend it to everyone

  6. No they broke too, here´s an example of a posterior plate come loose and a snapped sniper knee.

  7. Oh, sorry to hear the handle broke - and at the same time glad to see you found a solution that fast.

  8. hahaha no no no, I used the same suit for my EIB and Centurion. But whatever changes I made during all of the EIB and Centurion process, I made those changes in my back up suits as well. My EIB and Centurion Suit are my EIB and Centurion Suit.

  13. I ended up using the elastic stirrup idea. I tried using velcro, but it didn't feel secure and it made a really loud scratching/grinding sound when I walked. The elastic works really well. Almost too well. I feel like it almost pulls it down too far. Well, now my suit is completely finished. Maybe a few tweaks here and there, but I will probably always be continually modifying it. Can't wait to take this baby out for a spin, but it's going too be a bit too hot out for the next few days. I just need to see how it holds up to prolonged walking. I also need to find a suitable travel box. I bought a rolling footlocker from Wal-Mart, but it was too small. There was this really big rolling tub there too for the same price. I guess I'll try that next.

  15. Wasn't satisfied with the triming ... I've trimed the guard again under the sun light (more visibility) ... The result is better ! Next steps : - T-tracks, - disassembling, - primer, - paint.

  17. Right I did notice that. I also noticed that the right ear on some of the hero’s is straight while the left ear is angled and that’s how I have mine set up.

  18. Awesome thank you for that. I’m almost done with my hero set up. I’ll be posting it as soon as I can for EIB and then to Centurion after. Appreciate it.

  21. So the rumors are true... You've an eagle eye for nearly invisble details:

  22. So we're the suits that Han and Luke used specially made to be flexible? Because you see Stormtroopers in ANH with cracked armor and duct tape repairs all throughout the movie. Wow! That is some awesome armor Paul!

  23. What material used for the strap is up to you, for EIB (and higher) the posterior plate has two male snaps visible and the cod has one split/single cap rivet

  24. I measured mine off of the casting, if you've put stuff slightly off then any measurements we give you will be off.

  30. Didn't expect this much discussion early in my build (especially after I posted in the main threads... oops), but I'm glad to hear from future fellow troopers. It's awesome to hear more ROTKs are in the works! As I've been neglecting this thread a bit, updates are in order (pictures coming once I clean things up a bit): I've got most of the armor assembled and strapped in a semi-permanent fashion. I wanted some adjustability, so I used more velcro than I initially anticipated. After reading Jeff's thread, I decided to try velcro on both sides of the shins and forearms, which I like so far because it makes it much less stressful (for me and my armor) when they go on and off. I liked how Jeff strapped his thighs, abdomen and arms, so I used a similar method(s). I bought some Flex seal (easiest to get) to test and it seemed to cover everything nicely, but like Michael said, I had difficulty gluing anything to it (Loctite glue worked...ish, but was stiff and brittle). I plan on sealing exposed parts once I am sure on my strapping. As for paint, I was leaning toward Rustoleum automotive primer/filler and spray paint, but I'm not sure yet. I don't have the equipment or ability to do a professional job, but I'll give it a go with what I can get. All in all, I'm pleased with the general fit so far, though I'll be interested in feedback once I do a full suit test.

  37. Yeah they do! The lining is great. But yeah I feel they may get a little hot fast. Ahh no string on mine, but they do have the opposite velcro on the back of the hands. I really hope our helmets come in tomorrow. Lol

  42. Front sight guard finished. It was difficult to trim it : I didn't want to remove to much material but I wanted to keep accuracy. Not perfect but I'm pretty happy. Paint will mask the excess of material. And the front sight guard is stronger.
