Heaviest option would be a deactivated Sterling, followed by solid rubber castings (like Praetorian Blasters or the above mentioned THG). Less weight with the resin kits (like DoopyDoo's or Phoenix Props). For the same reasons that you have and out of curiosity I am planning a new build for early 2019, focussed on lightweight. Beginning soon...3 points

Ugh why is everyone in the 501st so elitist! Yeah he's missing a few minor details but geez, we gotta stop being so hung up on that!2 points

Lorelei looking back at your male snap plate placement. Something to keep in mind, the more space you have between snap mounts (between sections) generally leads to these sections overlapping one another just standing there or during troops. This is a very common concern we see at EIB and Centurion where overlapping is not allowed. IF... you should run into this problem later reducing this space will be your solution. Keep up the good work2 points

Got wire and created new brackets for the chest piece edge that are 1/2 inch longer so the chest sits lower. Added outer edge elastic straps to hold the butt plate flush with the lower back. Tapered the forearms around the wrist by 2cm. Any more and I'd have a hard time getting my hands through. Trimmed the front thigh cover strip to be 20mm instead of 30mm. Used the 2nd belt cover, trimmed the corners less than the first and added the raised rivet covers vs the sunk covers on the old one. AB button plates, square the edges and touch up the button paint. Merry Christmas to all. We can only hope Anovos does the right thing and satisfy it's customers.1 point

Merry Christmas to you all as well. The FOTK was no surprise but none of their other items that were set to ship by the 21st went out either and no communication as typical Anovos.1 point

This is just amazing. Information like this was meant to be shared, gracefully. As has been said already, you bring light to many and we are thankful for you sharing all of this. Wow, to hold a real one. Truly a holiday gift.1 point

Looks good David and I'm with what Dan pointed out. As soon as I seen the stripes I knew the stripes police were gonna show up. I had the same thing so I fixed them. Happy to see another TK join us in the old CCG. You'll be EI and Centurion soon enough. Good luck with Jason and his review. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk1 point

Really nice job on that build, David! As Dan mentioned, the final approval is up to your GML, but I personally see no problems that would hold you back from getting your official 501st TK number. Good luck, and keep us informed!1 point

Mine is a hybrid/mashup. Resin Doopydoos kit, but I replaced the magazine well, folding stock (functioning), trigger guard, entire front end and rear cap with accurate aluminum replicas to keep authentic look high but the weight down. I did use a real Sterling magazine though. The whole thing weighs in at just a little over 2 pounds (about 1 kilo). One thing you will need to consider is that very often on a troop you will be asked "Can I hold your gun"? (Mostly kids). For those that carry Hyperfirms/rubber models this is not a problem, since it really can't be "broken" if they should drop it. However, since mine is mostly a resin build, I decline by saying something along the lines of "The Emperor forbids it" or "It's against regulations".1 point

Hi David. Great job! Personally, I can’t see any obvious reasons why you couldn’t achieve basic with minimal additional effort. (Of course, the final decision comes from your GML). For me, the main thing I’d suggest is to bring those shoulder bells in as tight as possible to the chest. It looks like your right shoulder bell elastic could come in by around 1 inch and the left by perhaps half and inch. And watch the alignment of the coverstrips (legs in this example). You’ll also need to paint your side rivets and thigh ammo pack fixings white. If you’re aiming for the higher clearance levels down the line, or just want to go the extra mile, there are a few small things which would help to elevate your armour. Starting from the top, the brow trip seems a little uneven from one side to the other. Also, Anovos have a habit of applying the tubestripes quite low down the cheek. Raising these to approx. a no.2 pencil width from the cheek would be more screen accurate. The frown paint can also be extended past the in-drilled fifth tooth. This shot shows the frown and the spacing of the tube stripes; With a little bit of adjustment here and there, it looks like basic and possibly EIB are easily in reach for you, Trooper. :-)1 point

Oh. Maybe I mis-read their September 21 email? When they said they were 'pushing the first wave of delivery one more season' I assumed that meant 'one more season' from their previous update (on June 5th) which had promised shipping to be Spring through Summer 2018 (March 20 - September 21, 2018)? So I'd assumed that 'one more season' meant Fall 2018 (ending Dec 21)? Do you think maybe they meant one more season after the the season in which their email was sent? You could be right but that's pretty sneaky - as it's really a TWO season delay from their previous update. Either way - there's no armour been shipped - and even as I type this (as self-therapy) I realise - it doesn't really matter WHAT Anovos say, or how I interpret it... their emails have no bearing on when we'll actually receive anything... Just would've been a nice Christmas present to hear that they'd actually met their (most recent) promise and started shipping... On a more cheery note - I hope everyone checking in on this thread has a very Merry Christmas, and that there is much Star Wars in your stockings and under your trees. MTFBWY.1 point

Yeah I have a THG solid rubber mold and it's pretty hefty. I'll have to look into something lighter eventually. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk1 point

Thanks, Jeff! It's a lot of legwork, but a lot of fun, too. I definitely can't picture myself actually looking like a tk someday though. There's a strong link between me and the piles of white plastic, black elastic, and tools covering the floors of two rooms, but only a tenuous connection between those piles and actual tk armor. On another note, I just saw your USB fan sales thread. Tempting. May be PMing you later.1 point

Not to try and call you out or anything but come on really? All that? You may be somewhat of a legend here amongst the TKs but you obviously know nothing about Sith Lords. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

There's no need to apologize to anyone, it's not like you're replicating it for sale. This is a rare piece of history. I for one appreciate the photos. I have a TD back pack I've been meaning to upgrade the radio a bit but the photos I do have aren't very clear, and there's definitely no measurements to refer to like yours. From me personally, thank you1 point

If you use something other than paint designed for plastic, it would be a good idea to use a coat of primer that is designed for plastic, just to get a good bond on the plastic.1 point
