  1. Dave was really quick to respond! I never realized he offered so many options! I told him I’m interested in the basic kit, but I am very excited for him to reply. And thank you for the welcome Scott! I’m glad to see someone from our garrison on here! Also thanks everyone for the warm and quick welcome! I now just need to find some soft bits like the under suit, boots, and neck seal and then get the supplies like magnets, E6000, and ABS paste. I think I should have the rest.

  2. We’ve got a few initiatives planned for the year. The one which has already kicked off is the GCOs Challenge: 12 in 20. Simple really: he’s challenged garrison members to do 12 troops during the year. The obvious math is one troop a month. Troopers sign up for the challenge and we keep score. Simple really. We’ve probably got about a third of the garrison signed up. It hasn’t brought many of those troopers doing their mandatory one annual troop out, tbh, but it is encouraging to see those that average under 10 signing up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Keep it up man. I am absolutely in love with my ATA kit. He did an excellent job with it. I would suggest adding more strapping to the kit itself. From kidney to butt plate, I have 5 straps. It may be excessive but if one breaks off, the plate wont shift as much. Keep it up and ask lots of questions!

  4. Hi, my name is JR and I'm 22 years old. I've been looking to join the 501st for years, having met some members from the Dune Sea Garrison (I live in Arizona). I'm currently waiting for approval to be able to access the Dune Sea Garrison forums so I can ask various questions about the garrison there. In the mean time I was hoping to get some advice from here. I've been following TK 1636's videos on youtube to get a better grasp of the building process among various other youtubers. I'm a bit of a larger lad being 6'1 about 240lbs with a 38" waist, gonna try to cut that down a bit though in anticipation to eventually trooping. After doing research, deciding on the armor, then doing more research and settling for a different kit, only to do more research... I think I have come to the conclusion that I would like to go for an Armor Master ANH derived TK. I've read that it suits larger troopers and fairly easy to assemble for noobies such as myself. I wanted to get some opinions before I take the plunge and send the email. Thanks!

  5. While waiting for my R1 armor, I felt a little bored. So I ordered a complete Kit from T- Jay, including his completion kit. It arrived just one day later ( we both were a little surprised) Along the build I always checked References and his blaster build. Unfortunately the Doopydoos kit is not 100% suitable for the R1 blaster. I had to improvise. But the grip is complete off. Anyways, I made changes where it was possible. All fotos can be seen Here. I was that busy, that I only took pictures on the way and didn't post it. But now I'm nearly ready to paint and weather . Feel free to comment and maybe critic

  6. Armor has been purchased, need to wait another day to buy the boots. But other than that, I think I should be all set and just wait for everything to come in

  7. Thanks for the info and very helpful links! Haven’t quite found those yet on my own I just ordered the soft bits and finalizing my order with AM, the transaction should be finished by today hopefully. Once BBB day arrives a few months from now, I’ll get started on that build thread. For movie accuracy, I ended up buying the padded gloves from Trooper Bay, so I’ll have some spare hand armor laying around. All of this is just too exciting!

  8. We instituted a program this year where troopers were eligible for bronze/silver/gold pins after 10, 25, and 50 (I believe) troops a year. Seems to have helped with participation.

  12. A little late to the party here, but welcome, JR! I have a thread here that may help with the soft parts. ABS paste is something you make yourself, and only if needed. Kman has a great tutorial here. Looking forward to seeing your build thread, and don't be shy when it comes to asking questions!

  13. Welcome JR! To FISD and to the Dune Sea Garrison (very soon i'm sure). Definitely post up a build thread here on FISD. You will get excellent feedback from people who know all about the white armor and if you have any problems there's always someone able to help you out. Just remember to take it slow whenever you come up on anything that makes you scratch your head.

  17. AM is a great choice for taller and fits a six pack as well as beer keg abs. Thick plastic with a glossy shine makes Vader smile. Check out all the build logs for AM, some are very detailed. Welcome to the madness!

  18. Welcome. I'm about that same build and I can tell you that I wish I had done the research you did. My ATA armor is just a bit too small for me. The folks in my squadron are helping me out, but I'm worried I'll be cutting, chopping and extending for a bit. Good Luck!

  20. @BTCost74 can you post a link to your 501st profile rather than that photo. I removed it as it had your email in it. edit: actually don't worry I did it.

  21. More photos! I shortened the back to kidney straps and it looks better to me This is also the most the shins could come down, the shoes I got with the armor ARE a bit big. I will have to use thick socks later. I also tried to drag the thighs down some cm: I know they are a bit uneven in these photos but try to go after the right one with the ammo pack. I pulled them evenly later. Also something I have realized is that my neck area may be to big, the shoulder straps are too far from the chest I took a look at some references and all of them are more closed up i.e:

  22. Welcome aboard! Regardless of having anything to work on, be sure to check out the build party your Garrison is putting on. Seeing the armour first hand is a huge advantage. Good luck with your build - keep researching all you can!

  25. Thanks for the welcome! I'll definitely be forming my own build thread when the time comes! The local garrison will be having a building workshop event going on this month, perhaps I'll be able to attend but I to have a sort of sponsor there as well as a kit to work on, so I'll probably have to wait a few months for another one to come up. Hopefully I'll be able to access the forums soon.

  27. Looking SHARP. Anthony, and glad to hear that you are headed toward Centurion level! For level 3 I wouldn't fret about the bottom of the ears being under the S trim, as it will not affect approval for Centurion. Depending on how close you want to get to screen accuracy, something to think about is moving the tops of the ears a bit more forward (if possible). Ideally the center of the top round part should sit directly below the rear of the trap above them, and the screws should (again, ideally) be lined up as seen below. Not a deal breaker for Level 2 or even 3, but something to think about.

  31. I agree, Wilson’s SLA printings are hands down the best! I have the pistol as well, and now the F-11D. Just waiting on the latest Blastfx kit before building. Absolutely minimal sanding if any at all...
