  1. No need to worry. There is also distinction in being part of the second wave. Our ultimate goal is 40% of the Legion TK's as EI, which is the same percentage as MEPD. For 5686 TKs, that would be 2274 EI. Apollo 12 was not the first to land on the moon, but they certainly had fun doing so and it was a solid event. Millennium Duo (or Secundus, or II) certainly will have it's own personality and distinction. So while this is a very big victory for FISD and the Legion membership as a whole, it is not the end. There is still much more to come

  6. Nice work trooper, a couple of suggestions before the DO's get here: Your belt could come up a little, also watch the rotation of your forearms and left shin Backplate appears to be overlapping your kidney also your right shoulder strap is sticking up at the back Could trim the excess belt material as it's covering your holster rivets Looks like your right thigh has been trimmed offset at the back and coverstrip is not central Shins are not level on the rear Butt plate sticking out on right side Looks like there is some unpainted areas on the ridges on your vocoder Sniper plate doesn't appears to be following the shin ridge, you could also remove the curved area (note using your EIB photo as one wasn't supplied in this app) You have some return edge on your thigh ammo strip top and bottom Hengstler/counter could be closer to the magazine Also appears you are missing a cocking lever Button cover does not appear to be in the middle (top to bottom) could also be closer to the end of the belt Could also remove some of the curved return edge top and bottom Could you also add an image of your shoulder strap elastic The plastic shoulder straps need to be held down in the back via a white elastic band to the white fabric that connects/bridges the chest and back piece. Also a close up of your "Han" snap A single male snap on the top right corner of the ab plate is present. Beautiful work on the helmet internals, I bet that is fun to put on Good luck with approval

  7. A little more info: "Stormtroopers, were the elite shock troops of the Galactic Empire. As members of the Stormtrooper Corps, an independent branch that operated under the Imperial Army, they served as frontline assault forces and formed the backbone of the Imperial Military. Indoctrinated to support the ideology of the New Order, stormtroopers were fanatically loyal to the Empire, making it impossible for them to betray the Imperial cause. With their signature white armor and the E-11 blaster rifle, stormtroopers became the face of the Empire on the countless worlds they patrolled throughout the galaxy." Although not seen in the original trilogy: "Rank was determined by a color coded pauldron worn over the right shoulder, with orange or red representing the rank of commander, black indicating an enlisted trooper, and white representing a sergeant." First order ranks "While in armor, the rank of a stormtrooper was indicated by the color of their pauldron: red was for officers, black for sergeants, and white for squad leaders."

  11. Hi David, and thank you for your EIB application! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armour. *************************************************** Starting from top: Your Brow Trim appears to be a little lower than screen used, as you can see in the reference images, we suggest to bring it up a bit to ensure more accuracy. Reference Images Although it is not detailed in the CRL . The small buttons plate needs to be taken back a bit. The sides should not extend over the raised ridges, but should sit inside them and have no rounded corners. This may take some work but, take for sure it makes a big difference in the overall look. Reference Images The angle on the top of the sniper knee plate. It's close, but for a better look we are recommending that you trim it down to closer match the reference images. This is an easy fix. Reference Images We noticed that your thigh ammo belt needs a small shape adjustment, as you can see in the references, they have a right angle cut , not rounded. Reference Images *************************************************** Centurion Requirements; In this section we prepare you for Centurion. Because Centurion photos show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. Crl L3 : There should be a minimal gap between the shoulder armor and the chest/back plates. For L3, the tops of the shoulder bells must touch the shoulder strap. Your shoulder bells are almost fine, I think only a few adjustments are needed. You can try shortening the bells-shoulder connection straps and checking if you have removed all the lower return edge from the bottom of the bells Reference Images Centurion Level is all about details, not only CRl requirements but screen used armors references to help you look the best. Looking at your larger Ab buttons plate , it should have a rectangle or plastic around the plate and no rounded corners. Reference Images This can be fixed by adding a piece of ABS plastic behind and filling the gaps with ABS paste and sanding. Crl L3: The top of the ABS ammo belt should sit at or just above the bottom of the central and vertical abdomen button panels.Your ABS belt is riding a little low, and needs to sit "...just above the bottom of the ... ab button panels". Adding some Velcro behind it and an the bottom of the ab-plate should correct make the trick. Easy for you mate. Reference Images That's all David, congratulations for being part of the EIB 1000 and we hope to see your Centurion request in a near future Trooper . ***************************************************

  14. Many aerosol paints can be clear coated, most of my armor and weapons are painted with acrylic aerosol paint and clear coated. That being said different chrome paint behaves differently depending on the clear used, I looked into gold paint once before, there are some clears that are used specifically for gold and chrome, I would check with the supplier of the chrome paint to see what they specify or recommend. Some helpful videos, check out his channel as he has other videos on different makes of paint and clear he has tried

  15. Thanks Tony for the suggestion! I agree that it was too crooked and will probably slow down my approval with the GGG. Since my thighs overlap inward, I'm trying to keep all of my overlaps in the same direction. I spread E6000 across what I'm calling the front of the biceps, so the backs also overlap inward. Clamped the ends and put double stacked magnets in the middle. I tried wiping away some excess E6000 and a little gloss white came with it Good to know that happens, hopefully when it's cured everything holds on well, but I haven't yet had problems with E6000 on the satin side. I'll probably lightly spray those spots later to touch them up. I sprayed satin white inside the cod and butt. I E6000'd some snaps in the bells. I'll use 2" elastic to hold them on the shoulder straps, so I placed the snaps horizontally. I'm waiting for a test fit of everything above the waist before I add snaps to hold the biceps up. Prepped a few more snaps, double-wide this time. Time to order more! And then I primed the shins and sniper plate. I didn't look yet, but hopefully not much left to touch up... I sure do get a lot done when I'm not applying putty and sanding!! I'm probably taking tomorrow off, since I've got a tee time during my armor time

  16. Very happy about the release date for second season of the Mandalorian... ...but I got pinged 10 times by my coworkers within the first hour of work. Including by one of the SVP's and by the head of HR. Share stories of how you know you are THE Star Wars person at work! As for myself.... Colleagues give me SW themed Valentine's Day and Birthday cards. When I showed up to work on Halloween in full armor, my boss looked at me and was like "...I'm 95% sure that's Jessy in there." (My reaction was "who's the other 5%?!") New hires are told to find me from all the Star Wars toys on my cubicle. The day after the season finale of Clone Wars dropped, I got like 5 pings of people asking what my reaction was. When places started closing down due to the pandemic, someone stuck the meme of General Grevious on my desk.

  17. I’ve always been a Star Wars fan ever since that summer in 1977 when I saw ANH in the theater with my family. I was nine years old. I can still vaguely remember talking to my younger brother in the back seat of the car after the movie about how neat the “guys in white” were! I was hooked! 43 years later, I’m still fascinated by the Star Wars universe, the great story and the rich imaginations of the creators of the characters, the ships and their interactions. To me, the series universe goes unrivaled in the science fiction world! I’ve always had an interest in development of a quality set of armor (I know COSTUME isn’t the preferred term) and I’m certainly not getting any younger, so why the heck not? Another strong reason why I want to peruse this endeavor is a personal incentive to loose some weight and become become healthier! I’m 52, just under 6 feet tall and around the beginning of March of this year I weighed about 286 lbs. and am of pretty stocky build. About eight weeks ago, I began a physician assisted weight loss program And have lost about 18 pounds so far! I’m proud of my efforts and am sticking to my program faithfully. My blood pressure is down and my diabetic blood sugar numbers are better than they’ve been in a long time. I certainly feel better. I am committed to becoming an Imperial Stormtrooper one day soon, but REFUSE to be a FAT one! I have more respect for the character than that. I suppose I could just be an X-Wing pilot (Porkins, Ha!) until then. But, I’m committed to get to around 200-210 at least, but I’ll never be a screen actor sized 176 lb stormtrooper! I’m a general dentist from Lubbock, TX and have been in practicing for 19 years. Three of those years was on active duty USAF (dental corps) and also deployment in 2003 for the air campaign of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I am proud of my military background and experience with them. I have also been an active radio controlled scale modeler since high school. I build and fly RC Jets and WWII scale planes as my passion for that hobby. With my hand skills and eye for details as both a dentist and long-time modeler, I am very confident in my capabilities in assembling my own armor sets from vacu-formed pulls and fitting parts to my frame. I have already seen many online videos about kit assembly and expected quality for upper level acceptance and approval to 501st and FISD levels. I just need detailed photos and I can “make it look like that.” I am also very interested in 3D printing accessories as well, but am a complete novice at that. Please accept my interest and goals of becoming a proud and active member in time. Looks like I have a lot of work to do! Bryan

  19. With the strapping for my build, I doubled up on the fabric. Basically taking a 2x2 in nylon piece, glue it, fold it, and have the folded edge face the direction where it will have the most stress. Also glad I could help with your build by providing the link, it is a very good thread

  21. First off best to try on your undersuit when fitting, normal clothes can make a difference but in saying that it's looking pretty good, you may find you may have to bring the ab/cod up a bit once you get your thighs on but time will tell. Just with the TD it normally sits just over the belt so that may have to come down a little. Nice work, keep it up

  23. While I’ve been sanding, filling, sanding, priming, and sanding, I’ve redone the tears/traps with a fine point sharpie (as compared to the ultra-fine sharpie I used before). I think it’s gotten a bit better. It doesn’t look great up close, but from 3 feet out it looks acceptable, IMO. I’ll use the new tape I purchased to tape off the grey and repaint the rest of the helmet white around it. Hopefully it looks decent. I’ve also done the rank bars, but I forgot to take of picture of it afterwards, so just use your imagination here. They’re currently taped off.

  29. Thanks Jonas! When are you applying? The bells were a complete pain and still not perfect, but best I can do for now. To anyone reading, I'm hoping I didn't come off as a pain in my response above for the fixes. Just want to make sure I don't go overboard when it isn't required and to clarify points. Cheers to all. 31. Thank you everyone for the suggestions, guidance, and approval! I hope to address all of the improvements requested in the near future to shoot for Level 3 status. Special thanks to @gatetrooperfor inspiring me to not only finish the build, but to do it with higher levels in mind. He not only helped me finish the build and get approved, but he kept up the pressure with his semi-regular announcements of the March to 1000 campaign progress. When I started the drive there were 40 spots left. This has been inspiring!

  32. Hi Brandon, and welcome to the FISD! I assume you are (hopefully) looking for armor that is acceptable for entry into the 501st Legion. This thread shows our "vetted" (tried and true) suppliers and how to get in touch with them: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ This thread is also a good read, and gives you information on where NOT to buy from: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19329-where-what-and-whom-to-avoid-when-buying/ If you have any questions, always feel free to ask here on the forums and we will be more than glad to help!

  33. Next, I took on the hand plates, and was able to pull clean shapes out of the blobs of white plastic. (The one in back is how it came from KB, the front is starting to take shape) (pencil more marks added to help define areas to tune in more) Now, how to do the pill opening... I started with sanding the back side down (not pictured), and that made the center thin and easy to cut through. And then I used a small drill and rat tail file to finish the shape. now to make the second one match. Photo of me using the drill to clear the slots. and they are completed. [those are some of R2’s body door parts and a bit of leg details to the right, as I also continue to work on him as well]

  34. colleagues know it at my workplace, too. Desk end is used for a TIE-pilot helmet. and at one troop in february i had my armor bin stored at work to avoid a trip back home. colleague tried to do some phone terror to get me to wear tne armor at the department meeting. Nope'd out with a "return false" (programmer humor). funny thing was that the department boss saw me in armor at the troop. it was a concert where he already had tickets for (he had bought them before i ordered my armor) and he didnt connect the dots until after. i only found it out at next day due to office talk.

  38. Right, I have some ideas but people who do this regularly to pick their brains might be a good thing. Just as an update, my TK kit ships from Florida tomorrow gang. Next weekend hopefully it'll be in hand. If it arrives sooner I'm seriously going to have to fight the urge to tape the helmet pieces together and wear it prior to putting it together. Kid with a new toy. Sick almost all weekend, slept for most of it after Saturday, got me a stomach bug somehow or another. Any suggestions on any items that I might need to pick up to get started? Was talking to Justin he was saying do just a few things a night and sooner or later it'll be completed. Think with masters and long work hours I might have to kind of go that route... Haven't had a chance to look through the build thread everyone's been sending me to.... will though. -Wayne.

  39. Man you are picky! Totally LOL I guess I didn't provide some of my updated build and completed pics. Thought they were present in my EI build. That seems so long ago.... I don't want to be a "CRL Lawyer", but I want to make sure I am not carrying out or overdoing unnecessary fixes with the possible chance of damaging/ruining something just to make it absolutely perfect. Yes, building perfect armor is desirable, but if something is not mentioned in the CRL, do we have to fix it for Centurion? I just want to do the best I can and also help those who follow. Examples: Belt and thigh ammo pack return edge: The belt just has a very slight rounded top leading to a very minor (about less than 1/8mm) return edge along some of the back. The entire bottom does not have an edge. the return is not mentioned in the CRL for the belt. Only the forearms. Same for the thigh ammo strip return edge. Allot of the thigh ammo belt has no edge, only parts. My belt has cracked in one area, and I think a slight return edge may help prevent further cracking due to thicker material on the edges. Does it need to be fixed? "Minimal overlap" is allowed between the back and kidney. This may have been me not standing properly for the pose. I'll have my handy assistant make sure things are hanging properly for next pics, but is there anything that states what "minimal" is? Belt return edge and crappy repair Minimal return edge HELMET For the vocoder, original ANH helmet shots attached : Does the entire "vertical bumpy" area need painting? My vocoder matches the hero one in pic 1 fairly well, and is even closer to to the one in pic 4, including the slight downturn of the black edge between the outside two stripes and the middle three strips. Maybe my 2nd outside stripe can be slightly taller. Notice distinct differences between vocoders in Pic 3. The one on the right (stunt) seems like a big black blob and yet if you look closely the paint does not reach all the way to the top of the bumps. If I painted the entire vocoder bumpy area then I'll also have a big black blob. Then it wouldn't match the left helmet in pic 3 which is a hero helmet. The helmet pic in the HERO CRL is not great and is only a 1/4 view. It does not show the vocoder well. If this is a picky area, a better example should be added. My helmet Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Elastic pics added. Right one adjusted with hair dryer... The pic you have of the top of the both calf armor being misaligned (wood flooring in the pic) was a simple dressing error for my EI application and corrected later on. If you look at my back new picture with the carpet floor, both are aligned. Single male snap is pictured and commented in OP. Left elastic Back edge of right shoulder strap is floating about 6mm off the back armor. It's very stiff due to me having to put a reinforcing strip on the whole bottom. The shoulder strap has snapped twice on me... Other fixes: Cocking handle for E11. The right thigh back cover strip: The cover strip is centered over the split opening. The raised ridge area (seen at extreme right of your red box) is only prominent to the right of the cover strip. On the left it is actually fairly smooth with no step. If I trimmed off this raised area, I would lose about 1" material, which is HUGE. It would then be much skinnier than the left thigh armor, and may be difficult to put on. Sniper plate can be fixed to a certain degree, but as many know it can be a beast to fit exactly. Trimming it should be easy, but changing placement will be hard due to the contours of the plate and shin. Easy fixes: Belt fabric trimming, Belt button plates, vocoder paint, butt armor sticking out, placement of belt higher near ab button plates, dressing issues (rotation of arms and shims) And yes, it is tight in the helmet, but doable. LOL Some adjusting to be done to make it sit better on my head and give me more mic room. As always, you are awesome Glen. Thanks for looking and commenting.

  42. Alrighty, I've adjusted the vocoder and it's looking better now - might need to thin the second strip. I attempted to clean up the teeth, but I think the paint needs to cure a little more. I'll work on this again tomorrow, then apply another coat of paint once everything is cleaned up and meets CRL.

  43. Hi everyone! I'm Matt from Portland, OR. I am very excited to be finally be making real moves towards joining the 501st. Star Wars has been a huge part of my life and I am really excited to share my love of the franchise with other people. I've been wanting to join the 501st for a long time but recent events have allowed me to make the final decision to get my first set of armor. The biggest event was that I got married in March, 2020, and my wife as a wedding day surprise to me asked members of the Cloud City Garrison to come to our reception! I was completely blown away by the appearance and it really made our wedding even more memorable (we also got married right as the COVID pandemic was beginning in the US, good news was no one got sick). The members of the garrison who came were incredible and brought so much excitement and fun to our wedding reception. Additionally, the Garrison's appearance helped raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, in memory of my mom who I lost to breast cancer in 2017 (my wife made a large donation in her memory and on behalf of the 501st). My wife has been extremely supportive of my love of Star Wars and my interest in purchasing a set of armor, so after a lot of research I made my purchase this week from RS Propmasters of a commissioned set of ANH armor. I decided to go with preassembled armor given my lack of experience and craftiness but I hope to later build another set myself in the future. The armor should be arriving sometime around the end of October, beginning of November. I am excited to give it a check and hopefully get 501st approval so I can start trooping sometime in 2021. I'm really happy to take this step and I know how incredibly supportive this community is for new members just getting started out.
