  1. Hey Troopers, So I participated in a photo shoot for fun that used smoke bombs. As a warning to all TKs and other white armor wearers, smoke bombs are not friendly with ABS at all. The pigment in the smoke bombs deposited into my plastic in such a way that required 220 grit sandpaper to remove it! And the pigment ended up on every piece of my armor. Gah!!! This kit in particular is going to be converted to a Sandy in a few short weeks, but I need it clean and white for an upcoming high-profile troop. I would have welcomed the yellow damage that occurred with the smoke bombs, but I need this kit clean. Ah well. The pics turned out pretty cool, so at least I have that. These are just a few pics from the shoot. There is some nice slow-mo high def video of things as well (upcoming in a few weeks).

  4. Hey party people, Justin "TheRascalKing" R. here. My Anovos ANH-S TK is starting to show some wear and tear after 3 years of trooping in it pretty frequently, and I've decided that it's finally time to start moving towards retiring it. That being said, I'm a stormtrooper through and through (Centurion #396, TK Mentor for SCG, working towards Armorer), so I knew I had to replace it with something else white and shiny. After some research, (at time of writing) it looks like Jim Tripon ("Jimmiroquai") from the Philippines' kit is the only high quality one currently available (aware of 850AW soon at least). But I liked the idea of flexible fiberglass and I was very impressed with some of his Praetorian Guard suits that SCG members have. Plus, it looked most similar to the material used for the suits I saw on set (recycled from R1 and Solo). I already knew shipping from the Philippines was expensive and group buys were the way to go, so I started reaching out to others in my Garrison to see if we could get something going. Turns out another member was already starting to do the same and we were able to get together a group buy of at least 7 suits! Parts are starting to come off the line and Jim has been great to work with. I'll post back with more when BBB day comes, but I thought I'd start a thread and get things going. I'll do my best to document our build, as there isn't much out there on these suits yet. We have some experienced builders and we plan to loop in some master Clone builders as well, as this almost has more in common with a Clone or FO build in many ways. Teamwork makes the dream work. Planning on getting Jim's undersuit and having it tailored if needbe, and having a friend who has his own paint business spray the kit for me (he mostly does motorcycles, but has sprayed helmets in the past for me and does top notch work). Boots from Imperial Boots, gloves from Endor Finders. Excited to get started and I'll post more soon! Thanks for the interest and keep checking back!

  6. Hello everyone I'm about to begin my first armor build and I'm working on gathering the necessary supplies. I've been reading through the build threads and so far have gotten some very helpful tips! Was wondering about the belt/ammo belt. The CRLs say that it is to be made of a tight weave nylon/cordia and be 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" wide. What are you guys using? The best I can find so far is 2" webbing. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

  7. Hello fellow and future troopers. I have been away a bit, due to me enrolling in online courses for college. I have decided to go back and earn a Bachelor's Degree in History. I had to do a ton of paperwork, and make lots of phone calls. I was accepted into a University out of Nebraska. I'm about 3 weeks into my first class, and feel that I have been in a decent groove balancing work, school, and everyday life. I'm looking forward to catching up on what has been going on here on the forums.

  11. RascalKing, I made the harness myself out of 1" nylon webbing and some 2" elastic. Kind of made it up as I went along. If I had it to do over, I think I would have gone with 1.5" or 2" webbing but the 1" is what I had on hand at the time. As time permits I may do a more detailed breakdown of the suspender system.

  12. @11b30b4 Any chance of us getting a link to the suspender/harness you used? Thanks man! Amazing build.

  13. Hey Bradley, talk about a ”super-Trooper” Here’s the general guidline for approvals 1. You must have started (and documented) your build here on the FISD prior to June 1st. 2. You will have until September 1st (approximately 90 days) of this year to submit for Expert Infantry and then Centurion if you opt to go for higher levels with that particular set of armor. 3. We took into consideration that an average set of armor takes approximately 3 months (or less) to build and that "life happens", but if you find that it will be taking longer than the 90 days, you will be required to contact the D.O. staff if you are aiming for EI or Centurion and explain your situation.

  17. Well, I’m fine with Anovos selling at those prices as long as it means we still keep third parties. I’d still prefer to go support a reliable third party for a better price. However, as we keep learning, reliable, is the key word too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. You may need to drill more holes but you can always reinforce the thinned ABS in that area by using a scalp thin piece of ABS glued behind if the holes are too close together. So almost anything can be easily fixed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. Testers semi gloss grey primer is a very similar colour to the traps and Abbas button colour, and it comes in a small spray can. Local hobby stores generally carry it, but as Glen has mentioned a grey primer with gloss clear coat will do the job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. Correct, or any light grey, I used light grey primer and clear coated, worked well and it's what I had on hand.

  27. LOL Yeah, weathering is still on my long term list. At the moment I switch between regular TK and HWT too often to do any substantial weathering that takes real effort to reverse... and I don't want anything too loose that'll make everything else filthy. (including my pretty bin LOL) Besides, you have to think at SOME point they were clean, right? LOL Brinkhouse did a run of T21s some time ago, which he made all himself I believe. There was a sales thread here at one point, but I think he stopped making them. Mine was one of his first models.

  29. "He's already a legion FOTK" could mean he was previously approved with another armor make??? If he's approved with this set of Anovos armor then it would come down to the GML who approved him and how well he/she knows the costume and CRL requirements, it's an old issue about being consistent throughout the legion when it comes to costume approval which is brought up on many occasions on the legions forums, we see some very different levels of costume throughout the legion

  30. Updated pack. Added some light weathering and removed the blaster mount. I’m 3d printing a DLT-20 and I have the files for a -19 that I’m doing next for my BFG. I have 2 homemade ammo pouches and one cheap but serviceable one from amazon (costumebase, I think) that I’m going to use until I can save more money for another sheet of leather. Thanks for all of your feedback! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  31. Yeah, I’m stuck in a research loop (chronic perfectionist) and just need to stop stressing, get off my an impolite person and do it. Not something I want to buy pre made. I know I can do it...hell, I’ve built my own 12’x12’ shed from scratch. Not sure why this is stressing me out to get absolutely perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  37. Glen you should send a photo of this to someone at Disney advertising. You never know it might land you a contract making or designing stuff for them, or get free goodies, or maybe even a trip to GE . Disney LOVES fan based anything that promotes their products. They thrive on it.
