  1. You can also use a piece of fishing string, just saw back and forth (like floss). Wrap the ends around a piece of wood (to use like a handle)

  2. A little more progress. Got the thighs cut as well, so will try and glue a cover strip on those today as well. Once these pieces are done, I think the hardest will be behind me and I can start attaching it all together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. As state above you need to follow through the following: Apply for 501st access on the forum Apply for and get Level 2 EIB clearance https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Apply for and get Level 3 Centurion clearance https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ At Levels 2 and 3 you will need to show evidence that you meet the required standards to earn these awards. If you take your time and listen to the advice then generally this isn't too hard.

  6. Approval photos sent in! Let me know if you notice anything that could hold me back from basic/EIB/Centurion I'll have to make the bracket/slot system for the kidney->ab sides to make them stay put. Also maybe lower forearms a bit I think.

  8. Hi all. Rather than me posting on specific threads, I thought I’d make a post about the correct use of the “Dave M” style decals/templates for ANH Stunt lids. If it is deemed worthy, perhaps it could become a sticky. I will then try my best not to mention it on individual posts (as the last thing I want to do is upset anyone). As the name “Tube Stripe Police” was bestowed upon me, I feel it’s my duty to try and spread he work to keep up the high standards of TK screen accuracy. I hope I have not become a nuisance by flagging it. So, here are some shots of the Set for Stun, or “Dave M” helmet from ANH. These pictures are from the excellent website www.starwarshelmets.com My interpretation of these stripes are that they were intended to look like vents on a curved surface. When viewed from straight on they should naturally curve with the tube. Here are some shots that I put together (using my old SDS lid, hand painted stripes using Dave M style templates/stencils from Mike at Trooperbay). For obvious reasons, I won’t show pictures of those that have been applied the other way around as they are not mine to share and I don’t want to alienate people. Should anyone wish to share, please feel free. I hope that all makes sense. Any comments of suggestions to improve this thread, please let me know. Kind regards, Dan

  9. Sounds like you need the industrial strength 100% acetone, like others mentioned. Available at pretty much all hardware stores. Use a non-plastic bowl, such as coated ceramic, because a plastic one will melt along with the ABS. The smaller your ABS pieces, the easier it is. Pour way more acetone than you think you need, let it sit for a minute or so and then stir. Continually agitating will help the bigger chunks melt down. Add more acetone as needed. It will evaporate quickly, so if your paste is too runny, just let it sit and it will thicken up. You may also have to add more acetone as you work, depending on how long you take. I like using popsicle sticks because they're disposable and can spread paste well.

  10. Yep, Rat is correct about those returns! No need to rebuild them at the kidney/butt connection if you're not planning on installing brackets. You could trim from the bottom of the back plate and leave the entire kidney intact, though. I'm doing that with my current Hero (Luke) TK. It's kind of a challenge for me to build the suit to look more like Luke's; he has a cut chest and back plate- and no returns on them whatsoever. The kidney, ab, and butt plates are all full-sized. I've trimmed my latest build in this manner, and it is coming along nicely. Much easier than cutting down the cod and kidney, that's for sure. Just another option for ya!

  11. Is the plastic not dissolving? I would start by going to Home Depot (or equivalent) and getting industrial strength acetone. If that still doesn't do it, you may not have ABS.

  13. Okey...I know there`s a Troop log for this stuff but as a Sandtrooper I have one on MEPD - Tour of Duty - as it`s called. But as this was my first outing with the TD I´m still pumped and want to share This Troop also raised 2839 USD for Childrens cancer fund, A record amount for this particular event - Heroes Comic Con in Stockholm Sweden! Blurred the faces as I didn`t have the opportunity to ask permission, didn`t know we would get the pics for ourselves..kinda takes some of the momentum out but I guess you can imagine the facial expressions and if you don`t - they were priceless Especially on these three faces Just one more - we love pics right ACTION!

  16. I removed a coverstrip with a standard butter knife. Just take it slow and gently slide the knife to break the bond. :-)

  17. I'm not sure what the hold up is. I thought they were at least good at knocking out helmets. It's going to be a long Winter, though - since Winter goes all the way until March 19th. 21. Some great advice there for you, Ivan! Once you get your official 501st TK #, I suggest studying the photos and comments of the submission threads in the EI and Centurion request areas, which will give you a better understanding of what we look for. If you have any problems or questions, just ask! 22. Hi Marcel, thank you for your patience for your ANH-Stunt EI application. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required submission photos have been posted, and I am very pleased to announce your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. On behalf of the D.O. Staff, congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Great looking set of RS armor here, sir, and thank you for taking care of those TD issues so quickly! I know that weathering is an important part of E-11s, but you might want to dial back the brass color on your scope a bit. Reference image For closer screen accuracy, your scope rail should have a 90 degree angle where it inserts into the barrell. Reference image Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Just a few small issues that should be easy to address, sir. The gaps on the left and right side will need to be closer. As per the CRL, "Ideally there is no gap between the abdomen and kidney armor". SImply tightening up your belt should help a lot. Reference image Reference image You will need to remove the writing on the bottom of the TD by either using a PVC safe solvent, a light sanding or painting it entirely. Reference image You may have to move the snaps holding your canvas belt to your ab, but the middle button needs to be more centered; CRL: "... three square buttons, one centered in the middle..." Reference images Congratulations on a well deserved Expert Infantry badge, Marcel, and we hope to see your Centurion submission soon!

  26. As frustrated as I am, I have no doubt that Anovos will deliver.. eventually. I don't believe they are corrupt, or lacking integrity (not that you are suggesting that IM778). I do believe they want to deliver their product despite the challenges they are having. What astounds me is the lack of communication. I have never, ever, encountered a company that is SO terrible at communication - whilst at the same time purporting to have customer supply liaison staff (I'm looking at you Reggie) who job is apparently to, and I quote :be vigilant and continue to monitor the progress of this production run and update you if any new details arise" ... Despite the support desk saying an update would be received by the end of August and us hearing nothing (did you all see that tumble week roll past my window..) it is now 5 days until they are at the end of the shipping quarter for this item. So one way or another I am confidant we will hear something very, very soon. The optimist in me hopes that it will be another forum member advising they have received their BBB.... by the realist in my says Reggie will appear in his 'helpful' manner as usual apologising for another delay... I wish/hope Anovos would subscribe to FISD and read our posts (and if their is an Anovos lurker out there reading this - please, please just communicate). In the mean time I'm heading back to do some more work on my F-11 from the 5th Horseman...

  27. Update, I applied the clear coat and hung the rifle to dry. Next, I wrapped the “D” gasket and put the sling and tac light back on. I do not like how the “D” gasket looks so I will be looking for a different solution. But my Rogue One T-21 is done for now. If I change out the “D” gasket, I will post an update; otherwise, the gun is done. Thanks for the interest.

  29. Well, I had my first (unofficial) troop last week with the wonderful folks with Garrison Excelsior! I had a blast! Was nice to get out in public fully suited up. They even helped me take some pics to send to the GML. And just last night got an email approving my 501st application! I am beyond PUMPED!

  30. Hi Aaron, Mark’s right - you can get much better blasters from other sources. Based on your location, I’d perhaps check out Praetorian Blaster, Quest Design (Canada), Hyperfirm or (if you fancy a DIY build) the DoopyDoos kit. :-)

  31. There's bit a pieces of the build that will come off of this. clamping, magnets, Having to resize everything to fit a smaller frame, E6000 (I already hate this stuff) granted its all not the same, but it adds to my skill set as a whole.

  32. Thanks Tino! You may recall you played a big role in helping with my blaster - sold me a completion kit, helped me with some important questions along the way, and the greatest manual ever created - the E-11 B;aster Reference! Thanks again I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Regarding the internal strapping, I took a lead from one of the Ukswrath builds for the permanent split rivet side. I just added the long tabs and slots to help keep the shape and marry the sides up, seems to work great. For the single snap side I also took a lead from others (Pandatrooper et al) but instead of installing one big slot I decided to do 2 tabs and 2 slots., then added some snaps and webbing for security, As with most of us on here I owe everything to those that came before me!
