Hey all! So, I won't be able to purchase the armor until next year, but I was able to get a bucket kit and get started! I've recently finished a TIE helmet for a build that's nearly done, and that was an absolute nightmare (An unfortunately soft pull and ABS that was far too thick. It was a Tambo Fett kit, who usually does fantastic work.) So I hope this is a little easier as I've at least hand painted a TK bucket before. I have a huge library of screen references and guides, so I think I'm ready! Wish me luck!

Aww, thanks, troopers! Still working on filling small spots and sanding armor. It's too hot and humid to paint (grr!), so I get to focus a little on detail prep work. Today I'm working on kneecaps and ab boxes. Nothing exciting, but it's progress. Since I don't have any pics to share of my work, I thought I'd share a video of the event where Cameron donated his armor. Hi there. I’m new here, but not to costuming, I have a 501st approved (UK Garrison) TD and am currently building the Remnant Incinerator Trooper from the Mandalorian. I have received my R1TK kit from 850 Armor Works, and am printing a Nico Henderson lid. I am also printing the flamethrower and backpack. I have ordered the following to finish off the parts list: - Boots from Crowprops; - Gloves from Endor Finders; and - Undersuit and knee gaskets from Darkside Closet. Any tips or advice would be greatly received and is there likely to be a CRL available in the near future? I am following the R1TK CRL at the moment.

Last night I continued addressing some issues I'm finding with my build. As noted by Glen above, getting my rear shin cover strips to close with velcro was going to be a tall task. The cover strips were just flaring up too much as-is. I did a quick test with the hook velcro to see if the tensile strength was sufficient to pull the cover strip closed. The answer was a resounding no, so I tore the loop velcro off my cover strips and will water bath these shins, looking to bend the cover strip to create a slight curve. On that note, I'm using sew-on velcro. When pulling it off the E6000, it came off more easily than I expected. Have others used this velcro with success, or do most people use velcro with adhesive and supplement with E6000? To continue my theme of going backwards, I pulled apart my second thigh and trimmed down the front return edges. Another 30 min of removing glue, re-sanding, gluing and clamping resulted in one more internal cover strip completed. Finally, I joined the pieces of my other thigh with my previously glued internal cover strip (as I'm typing this, I'm realizing "internal cover" makes no sense). Let's try again. I joined my thigh with the previously glued internal strip, getting me all set for shimming the back when my materials arrive. All-in-all, I'm still having fun and have been enjoying checking this forum way too much, so things are going well. I'm now far enough into my build to slow my pace to something more measured, but I still can't wait until my armor is complete and I can troop with you all.

As a professional painter for many years I hear ya' about removing tape while wet, but latex is a different animal than enamel. Enamel dries a lot slower, and if you lift it off too soon "strings" from the paint can come up with the sides of the tape and fall onto the edges of the stripes. I did this on purpose (lifted the tape while the paint was wet) as seen in the pic below, which sort of defeats the step of adding the white paint first. That's where Goo-Gone comes in mighty handy.

Hi Lindsay and welcome to the FISD! Captain Phasma may be a tough build but they are amazing costumes when they are finished. Take a look around the forums and soak it all in.

Finally close to finished... decals on tonight and S-trim. Just need to install mesh behind frown and helmet padding. Wasn't sure I would get to this point on the build. Next time to suit up and take pics with the finished armor and helmet.

Oh that flamethrower looks amazing. Look forward to seeing this build

Hi Jonathan, that torso looks great, well done. Certainly the notch is not needed for high levels , as you can see in some reference photos it's present My personal opinion and for sure what I would do, considering what you have pointed "the left side still has part of the original notch left over after trimming... But I feel it might be safer to not make the torso any smaller and to just make the notches and trim a few millimetres of the butt plate on each side. " I would make the notches trimming those few millimetres and be more accurate. Hope this can give you help. Cheers.

The plasti dip will come off if you try to sand it I don’t recommend sanding you should be able to peel the whole thing off easily and paint again if you need to

Did some vent holes today. I'm pretty sure with the final 3D print these will be spots that will want to needle file some more for better appearance. The blue behind is just a plane to show how it would look, but I'd probably recommend using some other material for this rather than 3d printing something to put there instead.

Old whitearmor forum member here, but not 501st member. Still I donated a small amount of $ to help.

Issue with Velcro is you don't always get it on in the right spot every time, snaps or rivets you do

You can always put snaps and velcro if you want, and if it doesn't work well, change it to permanent rivets ...It would be a very easy fix.

Once when playing laser tag having to crouch down to youngling height behind a barrier I did make sure the belt conformed to the armor, this way there is no tension on the snaps so haven't really had any other issues.
