How could we forget the “airline dinner tray TK” from Solo?7 points
-
Ooooh, it's been a while since I posted. Had a slew of activities then 30cm of snow fell! Being in doors and between snow shoveling...managed to get the bulk of my power cylinders completed. Some notables is installing a small square nut on the base plate and countersunk hole underneath. All indicative of how the cylinders were lifted out off 50s British military equipment (History and Analysis PDF, Andy) I was going for Shape A for the backplate but in somehow messing up the final central capacitor installs, had it riding up too much and feared breaking the resin if made curve more pronounced than I had it. I didn't want to risk breakage as I'm having the doopydoos resin back and bottom plate holding up my upgraded aluminum outer cylinders. I got inspiration from Andy to create the ceramic tubing the way I did it. Pretty pleased how they turned out. Installing of the resisters was a bit tricky. Had to measure out insulation sleeves before soldering the supporting metal wires to the wires of the central capacitors. Had to consider angles and functionality of the sleeves purpose of keep metal wires from touching. But man!!! This was really the most micro project of the entire blaster I think. So many tiny considerations to carry out. As you can see from some photos...it is a bit lop sided but I'm hoping it isn't all that noticeable when installed on top of the magazine housing. ....apart from paint touch ups...am I missing anything? Please give me a shout and cheers! Thanks for dropping by. Sent from my SM-G390W using Tapatalk6 points

I can definitely help you out with an exact replica, including all the correct hardware and strapping used in Luke's armour. Here is one of my hero's I built to movie specs (not a Luke replica).3 points

Nice work overall, just a couple of things to really compliment your build, your bottom ear screws look a little high on the sides, but may be ok for the DL's. You could paint the rims of your mic tips white A few of your black lines are a little wobbly, a good tip is go over with a permanent marker to help straighten them Knee ammo strip could be a little higher at front You could also trim the curve section out of the top angle of the sniper plate so its a little straighter. You could also drop your forearms a little, there is a bit of a gap there at the gloves, will allow a little more movement at the elbows. Good luck with approval2 points

I bought my Lepage version at Canadian Tire; they also have the pan-head screws and E6000 (made in USA).1 point

Great result Jesse! Your power cylinders look awesome.1 point

LePage has a similar product which can be found at most hardware stores. CrappyTire has it.1 point

It's my hope that this post will reach other Vets that are out there wondering about Joining the 501st and have PTSD / Anxiety issues. I had my 1st troop the other day. My wife came to be my spotter and get suited up. I'm not gonna lie, excitement and anxiety was kicking my @$$. We got suited up and headed to where we were doing the photo shoot. Mind you I was not expecting the amount of people that were going to show up there or be in the Venue after we came in. (Roughly 500 per 30 min if I remember correctly) we were in there for about 2 and 1/2 Hours taking photos of the 20 of us in Armor against the Icy back drops of the park we were in. Not to mention the 100's of others that we took with people. I will say that it's the largest crowd that I have been in the past decade, with ZERO Heighten alertness going off and almost no Anxiety (Except for falling and busting my 4th point of contact on the ice.) There is something about the anonymity that you get looking through green lenses and your head in the bucket. I cannot tell you how rewarding of an experience this was for me. To be able to get out in public and not feel that crushing anxiety and have your body go in to overdrive. If you are a Vet and are wondering about getting a shiny white white suit, 2 words DO IT!!!!!1 point

Here's what I used for the AP rubber gloves and flexible handguards that Mark sent: https://www.amazon.ca/Loctite-Plastics-Bonding-Activator-681925/dp/B000Y3LHXW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550245899&sr=8-1&keywords=loctite+plastics+bonding+system Amazon was the only place I could find it in Canada. It was recommended by many and seems to be doing its job well. :-D1 point

It will not affect your EI submission, but they should have a silver/chrome finish:1 point

Normally it does, for some reason, this pic was the one time it wanted to play hide and seek1 point

Hi James! Nice work on that armor sir, and thank you for your submission! One of us will be with you shortly, but in the meantime can you post up a few more photos for us? 1. Helmet right side. 2. Cod/posterior plate connection showing the rivet/snaps (inside and out). 3. Action shot with only you in it. 4. Close up of your bottom ear screws. Many thanks!!1 point

It's a real shame they're out of business. Imperial Boots is the biggest game in town, now. Good boots... but I miss TK Boots. They were slightly better, IMO. But many Chelsea boots will be just fine, once painted white. Your GML can answer, if there's any question. And they're the one who needs to approve them, so definitely the place to ask.1 point

5'7 should not be a problem at all. You may need to trim a bit off the bottom for length but not much. I say go for it! ANH Hero is pretty cool.1 point

We do have to thank them for this, though, because now we know how that suit was constructed for our CRL.1 point

+1 on TM. Paul is absolutely fantastic and will get you what you need.1 point

Great job. Good luck with your application. Hopefully we will see you submit for Centurion next?1 point

Great looking armor, Jennifer. And as a plus, with that chromakey-friendly backdrop, you can easily put yourself into any Star Wars background! A.J.1 point

When I first started out, I was determined to just buy a ready-to-wear suit, but much research lead me to build my own. It's truly not hard and there's a ton of info available (both already posted on here, and yours to ask for). It's also a source of pride to know that you did it yourself, kind of like those Jedi scum who build their own lightsabres. What's your height/weight (if you don't mind me asking) as that can determine what sort of extra work might be required. I think it's all been addressed before so the info is out there to make the suit fit.1 point

I second Jordan's advice! Building wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. It's more cost effective too, if budget is a factor. There are countless helpful, experienced troopers on here that will ensure you stay on the right track and that your armour comes out awesome. Just a thought! :-)1 point

Unfortunately I'm not sure your timeline is going to work if you want something that is ready to wear. I might be wrong but I think there is only 2 company that make ready to wear and they have years of wait time. You should buy a kit and build it yourself. You could have that done in a few months. Just my advice Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk1 point

I get a lot of flak for waiting as long as I have. I hate I sold my alpha as early as I did now, but hopefully I'll be up in a few months with any real luck.1 point

It’s become a reverse race for me, what will arrive last, my Anovos Kylo or Anovos FOTK. Apparently either way I loose. Lol.1 point

So everyone is aware, Jason's design needed a few tweaks to get it patch ready - legible fonts etc. This is the design that will be sent for approval/patches:1 point

The boots took me a little longer than anticipated... but I'm still waiting on armor, so that's OK. I received my neck seal and am ALMOST finished with boots (unhappy with some messiness around the soles, but getting close). Some pictures throughout the boot journey... Post-acetone rub: Taped up and ready to go: Layer 1 of approximately 1 billion: A few more layers in: All painted, acrylic layer, and fabric paint on the elastic! So now to fix the couple of smudges, make some magnet satchels, and continue researching...1 point
