I added this adjustment to my Centurion thread, but it should go here too: Just an update, I made the couple of finishing touches that were recommended in my Centurion approval as "nice to have" additions after it was approved. First up was trimming the thigh and cod area to give it a bit more black, and probably a bit less chafing on a parade troop: Updated. I can always trim more, but trying this for now: And then the classic "trooper butt" issue: @gmrhodes13 had a simple solution, and I decided to make it. He suggested they go out on the sides, but for how my armor was popping straight back, I found the ideal location was more toward the 1/3 points. I took some card stock to figure out the size I might need, and then took some of the cover strip plastic [EDIT: black plastic would be more ideal, because these clips will just be visible in the crack - I plan to paint mine black in that gap], and cut two rectangles, 3cm by 7.5cm. I used @ukswrath's focused heating technique, where you use a couple of pieces of wood on either side of a bend spot, and heat just that gap, for a more controlled bend. On mine, I needed about 1 cm of arch on the inside for it to work: Glued on one side with white E6000 (for this to work, it just gets mounted on one side. That way you can still detach the armor, and it can slide side to side a bit for some movement. These clips just keep the bottom from being able to pop out further than the other plate). I placed them 4 cm from the edges of the back rectangular detail. I tried it on, and it worked perfectly! No more trooper-butt! Thanks for the suggestions, team!3 points

As i have seen in so many builds the posterior pushes out from the kidney. So I made some of those clips and glued them to the posterior. I used CA glue for this one. I wanted a definite solid hold. Good to go.1 point

Hi Mario, Many thanks for taking the time to review my suit. Good points raised - I’ll be sure to have a look over these. I’m proud to reach EIB level with this suit. :-) Thank you (and Glen ;-)) for the tips on the rear traps. I’d followed a Sandy with the rounder lower corners, but, you are quite right that many TKs have the sharper corners. I’ll give that a little tweak. :-) Those 6mm shoulder elastics keep sliding down so I’ll add a fixing under the back plate to jeep them a little lower, thus the bridges floating a bit higher. Good shout on the thermal Detonator. I’ll take a look at some additional references and check the alignment. Regarding the sniper knee, I’m pretty comfortable with the position of it for now. If you are happy to mark up what you guys feel would be “ideal”, I’ll double check it. I’ll have a check over the strapping as you’re quite right regarding the side rivets and butt plate, for example. I’ll do a fresh set of photos for Centurion. Many thanks again to you and the team. Best wishes and stay safe, Dan :-)1 point

Installed the cover strip 1/8" elastic band. Glued to the shoulder elastic with some CA glue.1 point

Hi Dan, and thank you for your EIB application! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armour. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. *************************************************** Great to see one of your awesome builds Dan, It's my honor, and a little intimidating, to review a master armorer work. Let's start from top. Just a small detail on your helmet . Is seems like the rear traps corners are a bit rounded and they could be more angular as the references. One minute painting session make the deal. Reference Images Ideally, your helmet could be a bit lower . I had this issue too and what I did was to remove the top sponge lining and leave just a piece of thin foam. It worked very nice. Reference Images There is a bit overlap in the back plate over the shoulder bell, just to take car every time when suiting up your armor. Reference Images *************************************************** Centurion Requirements; In this section we prepare you for Centurion. Because Centurion photos show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. CRL L3: The plastic shoulder straps need to be held down in the back via a white elastic band to the white fabric that connects/bridges the chest and back piece. Perhaps it could be a light effect but it seems that your elastic band on the shoulders is missing, that may cause your shoulder bridges are riding little up. Placing the elastic could solve the issue or plan B could be a hot water bath for them. Reference Images CRL L3: The top of the ABS ammo belt should sit at or just above the bottom of the central and vertical abdomen button panels. This is the most common issue , the Ab belt is riding a bit low. A piece of velcro behind the plastic belt could do the trick. Easy fix! Reference Images CRL L3: Ideally there no gap between the abdomen and kidney armor. Abdominal and Kidney Plate align horizontally at top. Your Ab/Kidney connection is a little overlapping and this causes the misalignment on top. Perhaps a strapping adjustment could help. Reference Images Moving on your TD , It looks like the button panel is a bit high , rotating backwards could help and may be centering it with the canvas belt. Reference Images Your butt plate is going a bit over the kidney armor, I would suggest doing a strapping adjustment to get it closer. Reference Images Looking at your thighs, they are superposing the butt plate and this could be a potential "armor bites" issue. What I should do? plan A: I could try to lower the thighs down if I have enough space and plan B: Trimming a bit them to gain room. Reference Images CRL L2: Sniper knee plate must be aligned with the ridges on the shin. Finally, this is a more challenging issue Trooper, but we know and are confident in your expertise. Even though the Sniper Knee vertical alignment is perfect, they are running a bit low with the ridges of the shin. Reference Images *************************************************** Congratulations again Dan, and looking forward for your Centurion app.1 point

My wrist is 7 3/4” and the largest part of my forearm is currently 13 1/4”. I’m not sure how to measure my hands but I wear size 2xl nitrile gloves at work and they fit nicely.1 point

Last project of the day. 4x 15mm Arm cover strips cut and sanded. These will be used on the biceps and forearms. As far as I know, this is the last of the cover strips. Ah I forgot, I need to cut a couple for the insides of the front shins as reinforcements. Those'll be 20's I think maybe 15mm since on the inside.1 point

Nail biting stuff folks, can you believe only 8 more centurion approvals and we are at 500 of our highest approved rank. Keep those applications coming in people so we can again celebrate.1 point

Well I went out there. Attempted to slide it just a bit. Nothing doing. It's began to set and wasn't budging. Gave me a chance to trim up the top of it anyways. Applied some glue at the very top for the trimmed edge. Only other thing to do would be to take advantage of it being E6000, pull it, pick all the glue off and reapply, but honestly I'm not sure it's worth it.1 point

Looking for some advice if possible and hopefully this is the right place to do so. I've recently just finished my armor build ( had to wait until Christmas for the last bits from santa ; ) . I've just been cleared by my garrison so my question is, rather than head straight to EIB would it be advisable to post here for feedback? Thanks.1 point

There is a how-to on imgur, once you get the first pic posted it is easy (paging @gmrhodes13 for the link). As to the forearms, what is the circumference of your wrist and forearm?1 point

First $$$$'s spent, ordered TRamp BlastFX latest version. Will be 3D printing, weathering and installing the electronics into an E-11 blaster. The BlastFX functionality has come a long way since fitting into an E-11D blaster about 2 years ago - especially like the barrel heat/overheat ability. Really looking forward to putting this together.1 point
