So it's starting to look like a thing! I was just test fitting the white plastic styrene bits, so those aren't glued down just yet. The EVA foam is all adhered together with contact cement. I'm fairly happy with this so far. It's incredibly light! Once everything is permanently attached, I'll hit the whole thing with a good coat or two of PlastiDip. Not only does the PlastiDip protect the plastic, but it also seals the foam to give it some serious protection. PlastiDip also smooths out the edges, so everything on the sides will look more like one piece.3 points

I did this for a promo video to support the BC Lung Associations Stair Climb for Clean air fundraiser. This is an event where participants see how long it takes to get up a 48 storey building in Vancouver. Funds are raised to help those with lung conditions, and as a tradition - firefighting teams from all around come to compete in full gear! Yves Ho TD 9815 has done this for years IN COSTUME to compete with the firefighters. And yes, he is fast in armor! I did this event last year without armor and it was tiring! Anyways, Yves challenged our garrison to see how fast we could gear up. Here's my submission, complete with distractions.2 points

That's the usual culprit. I need to take a fresh look at how we deliver mail.2 points

I use traditional TD clips that I make. I just put a tiny piece of Velcro on the inside of the bent tab to prevent it from falling off etc. I was at this one troop where these kids kept knocking my TD off so I just modified it. Plus them it always stays centered and I don’t need anyone to help align it.2 points

ROTJ is great for these. My favourite has always been this guy, far right. With that droopy brow trim, he looks so sad!( and he should be super happy seeing as he's just inherited a bowcaster!) Sent from my SM-J320FN using Tapatalk2 points

Stormtrooper Oddities - What have you noticed? There you are watching your favourite Star Wars movie and then you notice something odd with a particular Stormtrooper that you hadn't seen before, there are a lot of oddities seen in the movies, some are really common, here's one of the most recognisable "Mr No Stripes" Now that doesn't mean you can rush out and pull off your tube stripes and get approval for another version of Stormtrooper, CRL's are made with consistency in mind so if you only see one of a particular thing it's an oddity and won't be in the CRL's Seems the more times you watch the movies the more you notice and especially once you research a particular costume/character, so what have you noticed?, let's see the obscurest you have found so far. I'll start the ball rolling, I thought I'd seen them all but I must admit I hadn't noticed this trooper's oddity until just recently, seems to have been in a hurry to dress and forgot which shin goes on what side. Now lets see your most obscure oddity, post away.1 point

My standard when building this was "If I were 6 years old, and some Stormtrooper handed this to me, would I care about that blob of paint or be too busy freaking out?" My resin one on the other hand.... LOL.1 point

Update time! We are close! Actually so close, that I plan to cast the first kits next week. Today I did the first half of the helmet mold. Insert piece and nose plate are already molded :-) All the best, Dino1 point

Chicago rivets/Chicago screws are a 2 part where 1 side looks like a flat headed screw and the other half is a threaded tube with a head. When screwed together they're basically like a rivet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_bolt For the TD you want, if going for Centurion, to have (from UK's build) " They should be pan head and slotted, not "V" shape, Philips. Those shooting for L3 I strongly encourage you to replace them with something similar to canon. I'll be using #6 x 3/8". These are slightly larger then what's seen used on the canon TD but are the correct shape. " You'll need to paint them black. Here's a pic from my build thread:1 point

Still a couple of paint touchups to do, but I have to go to work. Here's what I've got (bottom is my resin E11)1 point

Hi, Dave, and thanks for the kind words. Documenting my TK build so thoroughly was not only a pleasure, but it forced me to work in a strict one-step-at-a-time manner that really helped to minimize mistakes. Note that I said "minimize" and not "eliminate" -- I made plenty of mistakes! A.J.1 point

I put Tony’s mesh in mine too. It was a little challenging to get them in, but they will look awesome when you are done.1 point

My idea was with a bit of shape work I could reduce the trench between pieces but maybe not completely. I think I will connect one forearm as planned and after hot water consider reducing the trench.1 point

Given Cricket's track record of awesome builds, I would not back myself in that wager hahaha I'll be watching this with interest! The one drawback to the T21 has always been weight after a couple hours of trooping, I really hope this turns out awesome! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk1 point

It's my hope that this post will reach other Vets that are out there wondering about Joining the 501st and have PTSD / Anxiety issues. I had my 1st troop the other day. My wife came to be my spotter and get suited up. I'm not gonna lie, excitement and anxiety was kicking my @$$. We got suited up and headed to where we were doing the photo shoot. Mind you I was not expecting the amount of people that were going to show up there or be in the Venue after we came in. (Roughly 500 per 30 min if I remember correctly) we were in there for about 2 and 1/2 Hours taking photos of the 20 of us in Armor against the Icy back drops of the park we were in. Not to mention the 100's of others that we took with people. I will say that it's the largest crowd that I have been in the past decade, with ZERO Heighten alertness going off and almost no Anxiety (Except for falling and busting my 4th point of contact on the ice.) There is something about the anonymity that you get looking through green lenses and your head in the bucket. I cannot tell you how rewarding of an experience this was for me. To be able to get out in public and not feel that crushing anxiety and have your body go in to overdrive. If you are a Vet and are wondering about getting a shiny white white suit, 2 words DO IT!!!!!1 point

The vocoder was the last mold I needed to make. DONE! Everything is painted and weathered. It is less than perfect but I just had to keep telling myself 'the OT helmets are also hand painted and not symmetrical.' Still very proud nonetheless. I'm hoping to get some pictures this weekend of the costume on me. Till then1 point

Nice job Rodney, don’t let the negative side track of this conversation, which should have been done in private take away from what you’ve accomplished. You’ve worked hard on your armor, it shows, you’ve earned this, enjoy it for a few days then on to Centurion, that should be easy as well. Just make sure you get all the pics the first time around, lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

My trooper should be 501st approved anytime now so here's the final pics. He's 6'1" @ 175lbs Note: I'll be changing out the pop rivets for more accurate cap rivets after approvals and post the change. As Germain noted earlier cap rivets are more accurate. At the time of the belt assembly I didn't have any and my trooper was anxious to get in his armor and get through approvals. Brackets are shown with the additional ABS support pads. The support pads are not screen accurate and are not required. They we're installed to help prevent chronic stress cracks in the armor due to the wearers height, which was putting a lot of strain on the mounting screw to armor connection. This concludes the build portion of this thread. The following pages are questions, comments, corrections, suggestions, general chat, etc. Thanks for following and hope this has helped you with your build.1 point
