  1. Sculpt is done! Its by no means perfect, but I'm happy with it. Every time I touched it i was changing something and at some point you just have to stop and say "enough is enough". Now I'm starting to make the mold. This is all so new to me and I'm super nervous to ruin what I've been working on for so long.

  2. Hello FISD! I ordered Jimmi’s V5 armor last November (after well over a year of waiting on Anovos) and am finally getting around to acquiring all of the needed supplies. It’ll be the first FOTK in Alaska, so I hope to continue the influence of the Empire in the great white north! I’ve already put together a Centurion-level Anovos ANH TK and a WTF Snowtrooper, so I’m looking forward to this build, having had a bit of experience and practice.... not to mention practice mistakes and then having to fix them... more than once! I’ve not documented either of the builds before, so I thought I’d keep track of this one a bit more thoroughly. I’ve always had GREAT support from those who have built before me, so I hope to continue that trend and share my experience with others. I’ve got the armor, and I’ll post the unboxing photos in the coming days, as well as listing where my other supplies came from. Thanks all for your support, guidance, and inspiration bringing this world to life! For the Empire! TK38991 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  4. Really it's not, so many builds here will all of us having to glue/join/fill/paint our yoke/backs, no difference with this new area. The stickler is that it needs painting, perhaps enforcing the underneath sections and using ABS paste will work out better, touch up just that line with paint and it may not get noticed, otherwise you have to paint the whole yoke/back, then will it match the rest of the armor? Or you could just wear an ammo vest, straps would cover those areas I really hate chips and cracks on my FOTK, I don't get that many though and I have every piece kept in a material pouches so they don't get damaged in transport, but it is time consuming to get everything out and pack away after the troop. I was hoping that the new kits wouldn't need any paint at all and would save this work, but at this stage it just appears it's the yoke/back that needs paint so really it's won't be that hard to protect

  6. All you have to do is look in the build sections for WTF in the headings and you'll be able to see the kits in person, to my knowledge everyone who has purchased a kit from Walt has been happy with them.

  7. Yes, I was planning on the wash. I have gloves and a mask as well. That’s a great idea to have specific clothing for fiberglass work.. Thanks for the advice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. Ok. I’m officially motivated to head for EIB. Hoping I can get there before Celebration. On my to do list— -@justjoseph63 handguards on the way. - have the supplies to rework my slightly wonky TD - have a few fit issues I need to work out - gotta fix that drifting left shin. I have a stirrup, but it looks like I need to add a snap too - D-ring onto E-11 I’m gonna see if I can rename this thread so that I can keep all my build in one place, but either way, see you on the March to 1000! 12. Congratulations! Great job on your armor! A few easy fixes and we'll see you at Centurion! Well done Trooper!

  13. No, this is no problem for centurion, the internal strapping is up to you. There are a lot of centurions with a snap system for internal strapping. All that is needed is the outer appearance. If you have the movie accurate strapping, this is the countersunk screws, that have heads that are painted white.

  15. Congrats on the Jimmi v5 kit! I have the same setup you have and his armor is amazing! His fiberglass material is very strong and those cracks are easily fixed. I’m 5’4” so you should not have any problem scaling the armor to your size. Be prepared to sand and fill a whole lot. The more time spent on prepping, the better the end result! Good luck and don’t hesitate to reach out for any help or advice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. The other battlestation. I started with 200, but eventually boosted it to 250. Time to attack that wobble Started with a more focused tip for the curved section. You can see in the background it's flattened out. For this I ended up using my fingers for the most part. Switched to a wider tip to concentrate on the flatter, longer sections. Curve is a lot flatter now. And I was able to push down the bulge in the middle Flat once again. For the edge, grabbed the wood block, heated up along the edge and pressed it out a bit Used some curved, wide, flat pliers to grab and bend the plastic without removing the heat The gloves allowed me to hold and manipulate the part with my hands or the pliers without any risk to my flesh. Managed to get the cut out curves into shape again too. Heat gun allowed for much better control. Even if I end up cutting more off, it was good to get more comfortable with the use of the tool. I had to mess with it a bit more, but I was able to maintain the overall curve. Matching it to the back, it looks like I'm going to need to do a little more shaping further from the sharper parts of the curve. Also, thank goodness for the editor saving input. I would have had to have rewritten so many posts by now XD

  17. The real question is how much is Tony@ukswrath going to charge us to do a how to on how to fix this seam? Lol.

  18. So...Heading to bed soon. Left shin cover strip is solid. Right shin is clamped and gluing now. Do I dare try to tackle to sniper knee? I will research it tonight and tackle it freshly rested tomorrow morning. I hope to get the belt done tomorrow as well. ROb showed me a good method of doing the snaps. I also want functional ammo cases on my belt so I'll rig up some kind of magnetic system for them. Oh - and I may even get to the thermal detonator tomorrow. It's been too cold here to use the spray paint.

  19. Yeah I almost had mine last November but didn't pan out as I had hopped a major snafu on my side. My plan is trying to get it this year and start tropping with my squad, I'm really looking forward to it.

  20. Can't go wrong with a TK most recognisable bad guy after Vader, and the second most asked for costume in our event requests. You'll learn a lot from a TK build which will help when you go on to your next build. Good luck with your decision, hope to see a build thread from you soon.

  21. You can also use two small blocks of wood to shape and hold an edge while it is hardening to help keep it straight. ABS isn't the most friendly to heat and does take some practice, years ago I would never have dared to use a heat gun, now I have people standing around me at armor workshops in awe and disbelief of how I nonchalantly attack their armor with heat, hey I just turn around and say "it's not mine"

  25. Initial thoughts - armor is well made and already quite smooth. I live in Alaska and have limited use of a garage, so sanding may have to wait until warmer weather when I can use the deck. There are four small cracks in total. I have not worked with fiberglass, but it seems like it should be easy to fix. Most of the pieces are going to have to be cut down for my frame (5 foot 7 inches, 140 pounds). I’ll have to order some ABS to help bond these split pieces, unless there is another suggestion? I’ve ordered decals from Trooperbay and will pick up some bondo and new Dremel saws. Obligatory photo dump.... Small crack Two small cracks R2Dan’s holster (top) next to Jim’s. I’ll be using R2Dans. JAFO’s belt and Imperial boots and gloves. All fit perfect and are of excellent quality. Ukswrath yoke brackets Anovos bucket with Vaderpainter aerator. Good quality, but not sure how to get the plastic one in the helmet out... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  26. The HWT in the game only uses the pistol and the rocket launcher. All the other weapons are CRL shenanigans

  27. Bump. Since you will need to wait until after the 19th of Feb., I would recommend those of you who are ready to go for 501st basic approval submit your photos here first: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/191-tk-pre-approvals/ This will allow you to get some constructive/positive feedback and make any corrections if needed, which will make your submission go smoother. Good luck, future troopers!

  28. Ok guys, the test of the shoulder straps was successful; however, the Velcro attacked to the front top section of the shoulder strap to attach them to the inside of the chest armor was not sufficient to hold the straps in place. Although, they stay tucked inside the chest armor, they did move and displayed a gap between the straps and the chest armor. This is not a serious issue and I am considering adding a snap to the strap and inside of the armor to hold the straps in place. Here are some pictures taken when I test fit everything the night before my troop. And here are a few pictures from the troop. So, in the coming weeks I will work out the remold and how to attach the straps. Once all this is done, I will put a feeler out to determine how many of you Rogues are interested in these. As always, thanks for the interest.

  29. I made my own template by putting a piece of paper inside the helmet covering the eye holes, then use a pencil to trace the eye holes from the outside. Then you will have the shape of your eye holes on the paper. Just cut those out - you'll want to cut out a larger size than what you traced so that they will cover the eye holes and there will be enough room for screws. Test the cut out paper in the helmet to check the size. Then tape them to the lens and cut them out. I used tin snips which worked well to cut the lens.

  30. So, unfortunately I started out with a set of fiberglass eBay armor. Man, do I regret that. I had to do a lot of work just to get it wearable. Now I plan to upgrade each piece to better armor. Sorry I didn't take more photos along the way. This is the armor after the coat of red paint, but before the final weathering. In between working on the armor I made a pauldron, a pouch (made out of foam), a sandtrooper style backpack, and the flamethrower. And finally, here is the finished armor. I know the Incinerator troopers don't wear backpacks, but I'm not applying to the 501st, and I like sandtroopers...so there.
