  1. Well, it's true that they're not the same... Because they actually exist.

  2. Hi all, Firstly, I’d like to say that Low and higher brow heights are perfectly acceptable and all members are welcome in the legion. I would just highlight that some appear to reflect Stunt or Hero/Promo troopers. The intention of this post is to share educational reference photos with new and aspiring troopers. Based on watching ANH, viewing the many reference photos and additions behind the scenes and historic photos, there is a clear direction regarding various brow heights in ANH. In the spirit of the CRL, this guide would help improve uniformity across the legion. For those that favour a low brow, I would highly recommend checking out the Hero* or Promo Trooper as an ideal option. *please note that not all Hero helmets had a low brow. Below is the Promo Trooper. This features a hero helmet (this is different to the Stunt helmet) and is an iconic look, featuring a low brow (brow trim essentially ‘on’ the top of the eye sockets). There is essentially zero gap between the bubble lenses and the brow trim. There were just six hero helmets made for ANH, made in gloss ABS, intended for close up shots; Luke has a very similar look; Han, on the other hand, had a clear gap (seen here left of shot) 50 Stunt helmets were made for ANH. These were made from green HDPE plastic, then primed and painted. The majority of TKs seen in action and group shots in ANH were Stunt helmets and had a visibly different appearance, including a longer painted ‘frown’ with (for the most part) 4 ‘teeth’ either side, 3 screws per ear rather than 2, flat lenses rather than bubble and (for the majority seen on screen) had a consistent gap between the top of the eyes and the brow. First up is a photo taken outside Shepperton Design Studios and shows approximately half of the 50 Stunt helmets primed and ready to send to the studio. The brow height is consistent across these helmets, each having a clear gap between the eyes and the brow. Note below that perhaps 2 or 3 of 26 helmets have a slightly lower brow. On to screen used, there are a few lower brow stunts featured through ANH, however they are certainly outnumbered by the conventional look. Note the same scenario from ESB (re-using ANH Stunt helmets for the most part); Even quite a few Hero helmets, including Han’s, had the usual gap. I hope that these reference photos help to show the difference with various helmets. This post, and the information included, comes from a passion for the wonderful character that is the Stormtrooper and is not intended as a negative view on those that choose the low brow. Both have their place in our character lineup. I would simply suggest considering the hero or Promo Trooper as an option for those that prefer the low brow. Best wishes Dan NB - credit to StarWarsHelmets.com for a lot of this information. I’ve learned a lot from there over the last couple of years.

  8. No idea, but I'll keep you posted if I find out! Sorry for the lack of updates lately - I've been mentoring a couple guys in my Garrison, helping them finish AM ANH-S suits, so I haven't been working on my projects as much, butttttt... ready to submit one of my mentees for basic approval today! Now that he's done, time to focus on my stuff! Taking the armor to my paint shop today to get a more precise quote to have it automotive-quality painted. Our build group meetup got rescheduled, but I picked up my undersuit from the tailor and it fits much better now. Been messing around with Plasti-Dip and Flex Seal as well... More on that later...

  9. Does anyone have photos of their strapping for Jimm's fiberglass kit? I want to mask the areas for the snaps so I can do the flexseal on the inside.

  11. Interesting insight, Jeff; however, the above references really do show that the majority were constructed in a similar and quite consistent fashion. Especially the shots outside Shepperton Design Studios.

  12. That's awesome thanks brother this will definitely help my overthinking mind. And I was able to find some pleather pouches that pretty much look like the ones from the post.

  13. Boom. Just no antenna anymore. Sourced from @justjoseph63 in this thread. I've seen a fair amount of variation approved, but we should strive to standardize and I believe those sizes look best. Hope that helps! Also, both because they were cheaper and because I specifically DIDN'T want to look like I had Sandy pouches, I went with the ones from Joseph's first post. Dealer's choice.

  14. I need to resurrect this thread as I got cleared with a Shepperton blaster I get really cheap but last week it had a fatal accident, must get my man cave cleaned up. So as I have my induction troop on the 23rd I have been working hard to get my Doopydoos blaster sorted. Will get some progress pics up later when I get time.

  16. Hi again Jennifer - let´s get to it! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to Centurion! On behalf of the DO team and myself, many congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we discuss areas that could benefit from additional improvement. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. And just like in EIB we'll start from the top down. You have done a great job on your armor and it fits you really good. We only have two small suggestions to make. We start with the shoulder bridges and if you want to come closer to screen accuracy our suggestion would be to cut those bigger tabs off. Second and final suggestion is to be mindful on the shin closure when suiting up, this was also mentioned during your EIB. And that´s it! Again congratulations on a job well done and welcome to Centurion

  17. TK Troop 4: Tampa General Hospital Pediatric Unit 8/14/2019 Troop notes: Short troop for such a long drive, but a brother TI made a good point: It’s good that it was a short troop because it means there’s not a lot of sick kids admitted today. This was my first hospital troop and it meant a lot to me because this kind of troop is one of the main reasons I wanted to get into the 501st. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Thank you. As for my other costumes, lol, that's a loaded question. I have the following: ID - Imperial Staff Officer/Warrant Officer IC - Bridge Crew/Scanning Crew IN - Standard/Dress/Rogue 1 TI - Reserve/ANH IG - 3 variants IS - AT-ST Driver (Marauder) SL - Emperor Palpatine and of course now my TK I have had a busy few years. Love being a part of the legion and have done 3 TK troops so far with adjustments being needed after every troop so far. doing some work tomorrow to fix some things.

  24. Just a few more pieces to trim, then I start the assembly process. Still have to build the back plate and cowl/shoulder part. Just waiting on my order of CA glue and filler. ***not being able to directly upload pics here is a bummer. Flickr really sux. Can’t figure out how to add to the album. So, I guess you will have to imagine progress. :/

  25. Hi Dereck, You have done a great job on your armor build. Looking at your Helmet I noticed a common issue, I had the same in my EIB Application. you will probably be asked by the D.O.s to remove some of the paint on the teeth of your frown and add a bit paint to both ends. As stated in the CRLs for Basic approval: Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. reference images. Good luck with your approval. Yous EIB badge is almost ready Sr.

  26. Everything I've heard points to Disney getting priority over preorders for fulfillment. It's entirely possible Anovos has been sending all their inventory straight to the parks while we get to continue to wait.

  28. I agree with the forearm trimming. A lot of the parts are a little too long. I figured on leaving material as apposed to needing to add it back. I'll add it to my to do list. Thanks.

  30. Hi Ardeshir, I thought we'd see you here! Really glad to see your Centurion application. Let's get started! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to Centurion! On behalf of the DO team and myself, many congratulations! Really nice job on all of the fixes from your EIB application. I agree that the helmet looks a lot nicer with the thicker tube stripes. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we discuss areas that could benefit from additional improvement. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. We have nothing more to add beyond the small dressing issues pointed out in your EIB application. Beautiful job on your armor. Congrats again, and welcome to Centurion!

  31. 79. "Weird Al" Yankovic - Strings Attached Tour, Sacramento - 8/11 LIFE GOAL ACHIEVED! I've loved Weird Al since I was a kid and my dad introduced me to his Dr. Demento's 20th Anniversary collection, which featured "Eat It." Many years later, my dad and went to a Weird Al concert and we saw 501st members on stage during The Saga Begins. I didn't know what the Legion was then, but knew the costumes were legit and it was a great addition. Many more years later, I joined the South Valley Squad and found out I was now friends with all those people I had seen on stage. Third from the right.

  32. Hi Adam, I use iComm with Ukswrath system, It's really great and what I like the most is that all is inside your helmet and comes with screen accurate hovi tips so wont have any problem applying for higher levels.---------

  42. So.....I finally finished sanding and priming the helmet and put down a coat of flat black Mr. Hobby 500 grade primer. I use this extensively for some of the professional work I do as its incredibly hard wearing. So this afternoon I will then spray a coat of flat black paint and let it cure and then apply a flat clear coat. Sadly there isn't a lot I can do now until I get the printer running again or the test samples for the paint arrive.

  43. Well its BBD, on first inspection it doesn't look too bad just a few bits of cleanup to do and lots of MODS. But need to wait for a few more brown boxes.
