Next up: Gloves! After MUCH research, we decided upon these Carhartt work gloves. The reference photos we went off of show the fingers were full 'leather' (or pleather) but the thumbs were fabric (except for the thumb pads) They also have stitching/fabric on the palms, which were a level 3 CRL requirement. Hot Glue really fit the bill for attaching the finger plates, and we used velcro for the hand plate. This allowed for greater flexibility. The velcro closure was then reinforced with a snap, for a better fit and secure closure.

Just a tip, although the press studs are accurate many find them difficult to use, I prefer snaps and double at that, I found one let go at an event and if not for the spare my trooping would have been done for the day. Another tip is to mount the press stud (or snaps) further to the front on the shoulder chest/backplate elastic it helps bring the shoulder bells inwards on the front when you move your arms

OK Paul.. so.... WOW! You are nailing this build, sir! SUPER nice alignment on the shoulder bell/shoulder bridge connection (no gaps) and a fantastic job on the ab/kidney rivet placement! Not sure if you are aiming for higher levels of approval (E.I and Centurion) but I think I can speak on behalf of the entire D.O department when I say I (we) hope so! Keep up this solid job, sir, and keep those photos (and questions) rolling in!

Great tutorial right there, nice work. For anyone following Humbrol paint does not like to go on thick, it can wrinkle when drying so two light coats are the best option, also letting the coats dry fully before applying a second coat. Not sure if you have a similar tape in your neck of the woods but stumbled across Frog Tape and my local hardware a few year back, this has a finer layer of adhesive and great for fine masking and less bleed, could be something to keep an eye out for.

Hello. I'm a little late on introducing. My name is Alex and I'm 24. I from the lovely state of Texas. I have always loved star wars since I was a little kid. I always wanted to be the stormtrooper. I have finally acquired a set of armor for Captain Phasma. While this is my first set of armor I have done costuming for a while. I am excited to learn how to create the character and bring it to life. I am also excited to meet other people who enjoy this as well.

I don’t think ESB decals have a left and right, do they? The stripes leaning forward is more specific to the Set for Stun trooper. The below ESB screen used is pretty much the same as Tim’s decals.

I guess I kind of already did this on my pre approval thread but figured I would post in the proper section as well. I was approved last week and really could not have done it without the help of many people here at the FISD. It was a long road (and not completely over) with some bumps, but in the end it was way worth it to build my own armor. I have learned a lot and competed something I dreamed of as a kid, so thank you all very much for the help! Can't wait to get out and start trooping. TK66007 ready for duty! Thanks, M

Hi Georgia We apologize for the delay in reviewing your Centurion application, but unfortunately we cannot proceed and get that Centurion badge under your name until all the L3 requirements are met. Please post up the updated photos and we will get right on it! These are the things (as listed in your E.I. review) that need to be corrected so that we can move along.... 1. The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt. Also, drop boxes should be vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box. Reference images 2. The top of the ABS ammo belt should sit at or just above the bottom of the central and vertical abdomen button panels. Reference images 3. The back was overlapping your kidney quite a bit, so it looks like you have lowered the kidney. This has caused the back plate to go too low, covering the upper thighs. The bottom of the back needs to be trimmed (no return edge, like Luke's,). Thus, the back plate can be raised a little and everything will return to its correct place. E.I. app Centurion app Reference image No return edge(Luke´s) 4. In your E.I. app the cover strips on the thighs were perfect. However, in the new app the right one is facing to the side. We need new photos where the cover strip is correctly positioned... E.I. app Centurion app Reference image 5. We also need you to include an updated close-up photo of the of the ab/kidney connection (no belt, and without overlapping ). Something like this... That's all Georgia...We know it's a little extra work, but we're confident that you'll be able to make all these fixes, and thus get the Centurion badge under your name.

I will refine the side elastic and Velcro in the future but for now these are connected. moving on to the kidney - ab side connections. marked out my rivet hole placement I'm not going to use these rivets for the actual connection, I will be using snaps. the original holes where patched and are not visible under the blue tape at the moment. so far I am NOT pleased with ABS patching. it's ugly. I needed just the heads of the rivets to go in the holes, so I dug out my wire saw and vice. and now I have 6 rivet heads! I pre painted them (not pictured), so they will be ready to add once the armor patching and extensions are polished up.

Helmet Paint As this is an ESB there weren't many areas that needed paint: the ears, the frown and the vocoder. Due to a need for two layers of paint and the high air humidity we got right now this took me a bit longer than I anticipated, but still got done easily enough. As I already had my paint out, I also took care of the ear screws and gave them a coat of white paint. I got the outside of the brow trim at the angled look you got to see in the previous pictures and as I had left the inside straight, it was a simple matter of putting the brow trim on the other way round to fix this issue and give it those straight edges. Hope this looks better No full bucket pictures of this yet, gotta wait for me to add the green lens foil (and the fabric behind the frown) next. Almost done, this went quicker than I had hoped, even though I stretched the work out a lot just to have something to do for a bit longer

I just downloaded the TK Chatter from YouTube and after listening to it, I think I need to do some editing. Nothing too bad on them. With my luck some little kid would walk up right when Han Solo says "See you in Hell" or I'd be taking a picture with a family when the "that's what she said" line was played. Funny, but not appropriate imo when they can pop up at random moments.

I got my blaster finished about 3 weeks ago. I didn't post because I managed to lose the pix... heh. I uploaded them to the wrong folder. Anyways, here we go! Both LEDs glued to the muzzle with their stock holder. I considered some sort of light pipe to make the whole barrel light up, but this method was easiest and brightest. The Blaster Factory handle doesn't actually have clearance to allow the rotary switch to work in stock condition. All of the pins make contact with the inside of the housing. I dremeled the flat side like crazy (as seen above) and created just enough clearance to allow the selector to work. This was the first photo of my blaster actually blasting! It might not look like much, but that blaster makes pew-pew noises! I then shortened the wires up, built up the handle, and sealed the brain inside a protective wad of electrical tape. It lives just behind the bolt cover. I drilled and hollowed the back end of the blaster enough to allow the speaker and battery pack to fit. It pressure fits in there nicely, yet is easy to pull out for battery changes. The speaker is wonderfully loud in the back of the blaster. well... sorta. More on that in a sec. AAA battery pack from a flashlight. One of the many things I borrowed from Tino's excellent Lucky #11 build. This is the same voltage as the factory battery pack, but much much smaller in form factor. The one downside of this conversion - this was my only real option for battery placement. A small bit of spring was sacrificed. It's barely noticeable to anyone else, and enables fantastic PEW PEW noises, so it's a sacrifice I was willing to make. And then I got everything put back together and put the rear cap on and.... (pew pew). Yes, it was no longer PEW PEW. A lot of the speaker noise was coming out the back of the blaster. With the rear cap in place it was muffled quite a bit. I didn't want to further weaken the blaster by moving the battery farther forward either. So I started looking into tiny speakers. I got these tiny 20mm speakers off amazon which fit PERFECTLY in the 20mm recess inside the Quest Design blaster. I wired it inline with the factory speaker. There's no extra voltage going anywhere, so no extra sound is produced. I'm just splitting the amount of sound between the two speakers. The speaker goes nicely in the front of the barrel. It is also FAR less muffled. Noise actually escapes the plastic tube now! I made a decent fitting bolt cover out of thin aluminum sheet and started work on the clearing strip. Having that rear bit still in place let me get the angle right easily. One clearing strip! I then cleaned out the back piece for a metal inlay. BAM! A little glue and I have a metal bolt. It reflects the light so much more nicely than the painted resin. I gave it a little weathering and then... Finished! Again! For now! I'm seriously digging the metal handle and rubber grip. A bit dirty and in need of fresh clearcoat, but it's back together. And WORKING! So tasty. And here's a crappy vid showing it in action.

The positioning from the cheek is good ("pencil width") but they are on the wrong sides. The fall should lean forward, so just switch sides and you are good to go!

Welcome Martin! Good call going with RS. I got a commission from them last year and they are absolutely awesome! Some things to look into while you wait would be a voice Amp system like an Aker 1506, a wireless headset if you think that's a route you'd want, and possibly a static burst icomm from tk products. And of course, what costume you'd like to build now that you'll have one you can't mess up[emoji6] You could also look at some of the higher level submissions from other RS commissions to see what common tweaks you might do in preparation for EIB and Centurion.
