  3. Finally became a TK. Joined the 501st as a Shoretrooper in Oct 2017. I’m also an approved TIE Pilot. I am the 21st TK Rogue One in the 501st and the only one in the Tampa Bay Squad.

  4. Well finally some good news. My armor has shipped and should be here next week. It was a commission build so hopefully I should be able to get accepted quickly. Sent from my IN2025 using Tapatalk

  6. My name is Crystal (27F), I live in San Diego, CA USA. After years of deliberation, I finally decided to preorder my first set of Stormtrooper Armor! I am ordering through ATAWorks (I am new to this terminology, but I believe it is referred to at ANH Stunt Armor?), and I am excited but nervous to go through the process of assembly. I am 5'2" so I know that some serious trimming is in store. Hopefully I can make it into the 501st by the end of it all. Recommendations are welcome!

  8. Ok, I have to say it since no once else did... "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" Welcome. I am new to this as well and waiting for my armor to arrive early next week (provided tracking can be trusted.) This is a great group and I've learned a ton just surfing through the various posts.

  9. For Basic approval, the elastic may not be the biggest deal depending on your GML (the person who will be approving them), but the bottoms would not be acceptable, sad to say. As per the CRL for Basic 501st approval the must have a "flat sole with a short heel". I'm pretty sure they have them in your size, but the Classic 421s (link here) from Imperial Boots are a great option and are acceptable at all levels. A bit pricey, but VERY well built and will last for years. The thing with them is that they sell in "waves" (like once a month), but the next wave opens up on July 2nd. Shipping is actually pretty fast, but one thing I would advise is to order a half or full size up from what you normally wear, as they run a bit tight. This also leaves room to toss in a pair of Dr. Scholl's insoles for some additional comfort. One last note- It's best to have whatever boots you choose on hand when fitting the lower leg (calf) armor. Trust me on that one.

  12. Just seen this one "- Election Archives ????????" That feels like it should be left alone. Given what it is it should be a correct historical record warts and all.

  15. I'm 5 11 so didn't need mobility cuts, can bend my legs/knees quite well but I still can't bend my knees all the way, it's just how it is. Helpful references for mobility cuts here:

  16. Those have a weird curve to them on the elastic sides. Here are a few references, notice the thinner width of elastic Have you tried Imperial boots, not sure what sizes they go down too these days https://www.imperialboots.com/ You could also try Crowprops https://crowprops.bigcartel.com/product/jhodpur-tk-white-short-boots

  17. It just hit me that I never shared the results for this. I'd like to apologize to everyone who was waiting on the data. The results can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KdQHWYeYgjpYsP4saPqEUot2mdRyfqd5OyigSsNuL9o/edit?usp=sharing

  18. First, WAY TO GO JACOB! Congrats on your approval, brother, and I'm glad you are heading for Centurion! I wouldn't take those mobility cuts any higher. Since the gaps are pretty small, my suggestion would be to add a thin strip of scrap ABS (or any thick white plastic) behind the seams and we can see how that looks.

  19. Welcome, Crystal! I'm 5' 3" and an approved Stormtrooper so it can definitely be done. Glen already linked to my build thread above, but feel free to PM me if you have any questions. There's also a Facebook group called A Little Short for a Trooper for Legion and aspiring Legion members who are vertically challenged.

  20. Thank you all for the kind words. Great to see so many friendly people. Thanks for all your tips, I am sure I'll have many more questions in the future. Got a reply from Dave C at [email protected] (armor masters), lots of helpful info about the kits with time frames and costs. The excitement is building :)

  22. Welcome to the TRUE home of shiny white armor, Crystal! While you wait, I would advise getting all your build supplies in order. That way, you can dive right in when BBB day arrives! I would also strongly suggest starting a build thread in the ANH Build Thread forum (link here). To echo what others have already mentioned, some big things to keep in mind are these: 1. Take......... your......... time. I can't stress that enough. Rushing leads to mistakes. Consider your build a marathon and not a sprint. 2. Stay organized. 3. Ask as many questions as you want to, no matter how small you may think they are. We are here to help! 4. Post up LOTS of photos. Doing this is especially important when you have an issue. 5. If you are (hopefully) aiming for Expert Infantry and Centurion levels (hint hint, lol), doing this is easier during your build rather than after, and is easier than you think! I have several tutorials under my signature below that will help, and know that we will be here for you every step of the way!

  23. Arigato Tino! The grip screw is set rather deep and I will try to replace that. The screw was one my dad gave me so thought to use it for this blaster but guess the threaded shaft is a bit short. I can use my resin casted part for this. The bolt paint could probably use some more work but I will leave it for now. The T tracks pretty much fit nicely after I shaped them but there was still some spacing issues. So I wrapped some tape around them all so they were squeezed flush to the receiver and then placed the blaster in my heated shower stall for about 30-40 minutes. It helped get them to sit flatter to the surface. No glue required thankfully.

  24. Hi Scott, and thank you for your Centurion application! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of CENTURION. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armour. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. Congratulations Scott welcome to Centurion 500 !! You have made an awesome work to give your armor the best TKC look . Well done Trooper!!

  26. Well, I am still awaiting my brown box day... Seems like it is taking forever. I'm just super excited to join and getting a bit impatient. It is a commission build and I understand they take longer, but I ordered it back in June and the supplier (Dave's Darkside) noted it takes about 2-3 months from the time he pulls kits. However, now he is not replying to texts or emails from me. Not sure what the hold up is. Anyway, I am continuing to read up on stuff on here and reply as I can to stay active. Hopefully soon I can apply as a full on member.
