  1. Hi folks, Checking in today and I’ve just noticed I’ve reached 3000+ posts on this wonderful forum!! Wowza... For me, this all started back in 2017. I wanted to renovate my yellowing SDS helmet and stumbled across “whitearmor” on google. I followed some excellent videos by Mike of Trooperbay and resprayed that helmet. Following that, I read more and more on white armor and, not too far down the line, I bought my first helmet kit from Ross at RWA. I documented that here on FISD and received excellent support and advice. That was a big part of the build, helping and supporting the build. After finishing the build, along with the armor kit, and clearing it up to Centurion, I was asked if I’d like to join the Imperial Attaché team - “HELL YES”, I said. :-) I later joined the DO team, helping troopers reach THEIR goals of EIB and CENTURION. If it weren’t for the changing of the guard that year, I’d have likely carried on in the role, along with the legends that are Joseph and Tony. Alas, things changed, however, this year the FISD is back on track under the exquisite leadership of Andrew. Anyway, enough waffling from me. I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to the FISD community. I won’t get into shout outs as I don’t want to exclude anyone, however, I’m pretty sure many of you know who you are - people that have made this forum, this community, so welcoming, supportive, and knowledgeable. Keep up the great work, everyone.---------- Best wishes Dan / CableGuy

  6. OMFG!!!! YAY!!!!! I see I already have my tab! Thank you so much for your time and patience Sha. I truly appreciate your help. And thanks to Glen again. He rocks as usual. I will address all the final corrections you mentioned to make Mannie (my TK mannequin nickname) be as close to 100% as possible. Thankfully most of the fixes are easy. As an aside note. Does anyone know?: a) How many Centurion TK's there are b) Where we can get high res Centurion and EI banner pics. My wife wants to make some decals for my case. Thanks again. You made my week!! Cheers Dave

  9. Great work, just a couple of things you could address, looks like your smaller ab plate is on a little bit of an angle. I would also try to bring your thighs down a little, they are just hitting in the front and the same in the back On this shot you can see our right calf is open, may need to heat to help it conform a little better Good luck with approval, not that you will need it

  16. Betrayed by the booty yet again! hahaha It's a common one with my submissions (I really do need to mess with that strapping a bit maybe) and was the first thing I spotted..... after I suited down haha I'll probably plan to retake photos for Centurion (maybe do my ESB at the same time?) but hopefully it'll squeak through EIB - I'll of course be adding more photos then. Our GML is notoriously tough (he sent back one of my Officer costume submissions recently because the pants weren't ironed flat... it's in the CRL though!) but I'm hoping it breezes through Basic shortly and I can put it up for EIB soon. I always appreciate the input tho!

  17. Correct you will need the silver/nickel for the detail specific outer snaps, cod and single upper ab. No requirements as to what you use inside.

  18. You could still completer this helmet and give it a really funky paint scheme as a display piece

  19. Just keep taping pieces together, wearing them (whilst wearing compression wear) and moving around the house. You’ll get the feel of how tight or loose they are, and where the little armour bites are likely to be, and be able to make those small adjustments before you glue it all. Particularly since you’re adding inner strips, which can be a bugger to pull out later to make adjustments.

  22. Great, thank you. I'll put them on the "assembly line" - waiting for other glued parts to cure is a suitable pacing device to ensure I don't rush [emoji6] Sent from my Imperial Communicator

  23. Looking good, definitely have the front aligned. Mine are a little loose so I added some foam inside. A couple of references showing overhang and angled cover strips

  25. Hey there Trooper, Welcome to the FISD. :-) To give you a really good head start, I’d start by reading through this: http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-stormtrooper-helmets-sub-submenu.htm This talks in detail about how the original suits were designed, created and used on screen. It runs through quirks of the armour and also the differences between “stunt” and “hero”. This is all based on the original, screen used source material. In my view, the source material is your best place to start. After that, you’ll have a better understanding of what the armour should be and look like, and this might help your decision on an armour vendor. :-) Best wishes Dan

  26. Hiya. Look okay, however, it’s harder to tell when the parts are separate. I’d tape them together with something not to sticky, like masking tape, and start seeing how they look and fit on you. :-)

  27. Umm, hate to be a pest, and I'm feeling a bit dense at the moment, but I don't see where my Centurion and EI approval numbers are located. And where is the IPM? Searched the forums and can't find it. My wife purchased a Cricket vinyl cutter for hobbies and I get all the decals I need Thanks.

  30. Hi Dave, Thanks for your application and for the fixes with your belt and forearms. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to Centurion! On behalf of the DO team and myself, many congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we discuss areas that could benefit from additional improvement. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions Starting from the top, the vocoder paint is nice and clean, but it looks like it could be extended some to better match the shape of the plastic: Reference Image: Moving on, your right shoulder strap seems to want to sit higher than the left. A hot water bath to curve it more should help it stay in place. Reference Image: Next, you appear to have a very slight overlap between the back and kidney plates. Not enough to block you from Centurion, but worth double checking the strapping in that area. It could also just be that your back piece sits away from your body a bit, causing it to look like there's an overlap. Reference Image: Similarly, you appear to have a possible slight overlap between the right side ab and kidney. Ideally these would meet but not overlap. Reference Image: Next, your butt plate could use some adjustment as well. As pointed out, it's sticking out a bit on the right side, something that could be resolved with some heat bending. Next, the back of your right thigh and the butt plate are running into each other some, so you could consider dropping the thighs just a touch to resolve it. Reference Image: Moving along, ideally the gap where the lower rear ridge of your thigh armor meets would be filled, or you could simply back it with a small square of ABS so that the black of your undersuit doesn't show through. Reference Image: Finally, a minor dressing issue. It looks best when your cover strips are aligned, so next time you're getting suited up, just double check the rotation of your shins. Some troopers also add velcro to the front of their boots to keep the shins from rotating or otherwise shifting around. Reference Image: And that's it! Congratulations again from the entire DO team on reaching Centurion!

  31. Using nylon will work, I do prefer doubled over elastic, just allows a little give when bending and stretching.

  33. Yeah as Glen said, there is very limited screen time. I believe I read somewhere that only four were used/produced. You might have better luck using MG 34 images for modeling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  36. Hey thank you! I was really leaning on ATA as well, they got back to me within a day. As well as I did join the LA Squad on FB and those guys are so nice made me feel right at home in their barracks. Today I’m going to talk to them about the companies they went through for armor and what their process was. Good luck on your build and I’ll be checking in to see your progress!

  42. I'd like to do the helmet first! Michigan had a ban on certain products issued due to COVID 19 so I have yet to obtain my paints and glosses to use. I want to start, but due to COVID I am out of a job, so I've been focusing my time on alternative income with my 3d works. I also am in contact with someone who might be able to 3d print my Phase 0 darktrooper armor I modelled out, so perhaps after this is all over..... I'll have two kits i have to build! haha
