  1. Back at it again. Really slowed down while I did some problem solving and had some paint issues (which are extra frustrating at this stage). I'll post some photos and descriptions of my progress and hangups later this week, but as a bit of a teaser...

  3. OK troopers, we currently have the applicant for EI #999 in review! However, several recent troopers have unfortunately not yet added the requested photos needed to complete their submission. What does this mean? While we cannot guarantee it, the next Trooper to submit for Expert infantry (with correct armor details, of course) could very well be # 1000! HINT! Please follow the guidelines as set forth in the CRLs. For examples of the details we look for when doing approvals, look here. Also, it is imperative that you submit all required photographs and information as seen here. Even if you don't get to be #1000, if approved you will still get your EI badge and be one step closer to Centurion!

  9. Sha sha. Thank you for taking the time to review my file. Some pics as requested. I will have to wait for the belt / ab button plate shot as I was working on some belt fixes Eagle Eye Glen picked up.... I do have velcro under the belt, but the belt was not put on properly when I dressed. I'll make sure my beautiful handler checks it during our next photo shoot in a day or two. Until then, please let me know if these will suffice. Various pics rotating around the forearm wrist area. Both arms. Blaster pics. Hengstler counter moved forward about an inch: Cocking handle, you cocky devil you... Left belt button centered. Other fixes: Cocking handle for E11 and moving the counter. DONE The right thigh back cover strip: The cover strip is centered over the split opening. The raised ridge area (seen at extreme right of your red box) is only prominent to the right of the cover strip. On the left it is actually fairly smooth with no step. If I trimmed off this raised area, I would lose about 1" material, which is HUGE. It would then be much skinnier than the left thigh armor, and may be difficult to put on. Not sure if I will address this. Sniper plate can be fixed to a certain degree, but as many know it can be a beast to fit exactly. Trimming it should be easy, but changing placement will be hard due to the contours of the plate and shin. Will work on it if required Thigh ammo and belt strip return edge Next to no return edge on both. Just rounded top edge of the armor. Not sure if I will address. Easy fixes: Belt fabric trimming, DONE Belt button plates DONE vocoder paint Will wait and see butt armor sticking out Working on it placement of belt higher near ab button plates Dressing issue. Will fix it during photo shoot. dressing issues (rotation of arms and shims) Dressing issue. Will fix during photo shoot. Cheers!

  16. Every piece of SW news is sent my way, anything with a Stormtooper locally I get asked if that was me.... Someone hadned me an "ooshie*" this morning as she walked in as she knew i'd appreciate R2.... Its established I have May the 4th off every year as well as any dates for premiere events. Someone called me up and asked if I had a cape at work for something they needed.... I did... as well as a cheap Vader costume to go with it. I was asked about lightsabres, I had two under my desk... I've worked a shift on our service desk dressed as a Stormie.... so yeah I am definitely the Star Wars guy at work.... *limited edition collectibles from grocery store

  18. Progress Report - 9/8/20 Not all progress is plastic! The undersuit that once did not fit, now fits! Good to know the diet is working! Gotta keep it going, even if the bigger undersuit is about to come in the mail. The knee gaskets right now like to slide down my legs, hence why I'm not wearing them. I'm thinking this wont be an issue once its velcro'd to armor. My order of extra neodymium magnets came in the mail, also the mesh for the TLJ helmet and my gloves from Endor Finders. The endor gloves fit a bit better and they are also soft on the inside compared to the gloves from Imperial Boots. But I also like how the gloves from IB feel a bit more breathable. I think I will keep both but that means I need another set of handplates. The velcro is not the same side on the 2 pairs of gloves. As for the Deathtrooper gloves I got by accident, someone in the garrison already called dibs

  19. Hey Dave! Mike, who did your original EIB review, is no longer on the DO team, so I'll be doing your Centurion review. You've done some great fixes since your EIB submission, but there are a couple of small fixes that will need to happen before we can proceed with your application. First, the L3 Hero CRL states: The top of the ABS ammo belt should sit at or just above the bottom of the central and vertical abdomen button panels. Your is sitting *just* a bit low. When you check out the reference photos, it's actually ok for the belt to slightly overlap the bottom ab buttons. On my own kit, I added a couple of small strips of velcro to the back of my belt to keep it from sagging. Reference Images: Next, the L3 CRL states: No return edge on the inside of the front of the forearm is allowed. It's a bit hard to tell from the photo, but I do believe you still have some return edge on the wrist side of your forearm. You'll need to make sure there is no ABS slanting inwards. Could you please post updated/clearer photos of both wrists as well? Should be a fairly simple fix with scissors, a sander, or a dremel. Reference Image: Thanks! Sha Sha

  25. A few colleagues are nerd, too but i'm the only one with the helmet at the desk. (the others havent gone that far yet). Department boss wore the helmet once (got a proof pic) though.

  26. No need to worry. There is also distinction in being part of the second wave. Our ultimate goal is 40% of the Legion TK's as EI, which is the same percentage as MEPD. For 5686 TKs, that would be 2274 EI. Apollo 12 was not the first to land on the moon, but they certainly had fun doing so and it was a solid event. Millennium Duo (or Secundus, or II) certainly will have it's own personality and distinction. So while this is a very big victory for FISD and the Legion membership as a whole, it is not the end. There is still much more to come

  27. Torso with strapping, Posterior, Codpiece and Thermal Detonator attached. I will probably add additional support for the TD but need to finish trimming it to fit.

  28. Codpiece: For those with an OTTK, you know the discomfort having a "fixed" Codpiece. So I opted for a "floating" Codpiece here. First, I created a support system at the base of the Torso using nylon webbing. Snap on the back will connect to the Codpiece and allow it to float. Will probably add a few snaps to the front later to help keep the belt in place.

  29. At my last job I worked with a fair few other Star Wars fans, but people usually gave directions in our office using the giant floor to ceiling Hebrew OT Star Wars poster behind my desk as reference Also had a fair few figures and SW LEGO sets around my desk too which helped cement the image. Definitely got asked “so what did you think of <new Star Wars thing>?” all the time. When I left after eight years at that job, my boss said “when he came to us he was a huge Star Wars nerd, and he leaves us still as a huge Star Wars nerd” (he was actually an extra in Ep I plus worked at LucasArts back in the day so had plenty of SW nerd cred himself)

  30. colleagues know it at my workplace, too. Desk end is used for a TIE-pilot helmet. and at one troop in february i had my armor bin stored at work to avoid a trip back home. colleague tried to do some phone terror to get me to wear tne armor at the department meeting. Nope'd out with a "return false" (programmer humor). funny thing was that the department boss saw me in armor at the troop. it was a concert where he already had tickets for (he had bought them before i ordered my armor) and he didnt connect the dots until after. i only found it out at next day due to office talk.

  32. Well, I spoke enthusiastically about the 501st when I applied for the job (maybe that's what landed me the job...?), so they knew from the start. And any co-workers that didn't know by then, understood once I took time off from work six months later to go to Celebration Orlando. I guess the 32 hour travel time - one way - tipped them off to the fact that Star Wars is something I enjoy.

  33. They figured it out when I change at work into my undersuit and leave early for troops. That and when new costumes arrive and I can’t wait so I open them at work to avoid porch pirates.

  34. My nickname is Blaster and this how I got it. At Toronto Comic Con 2019 (Fan Expo's March show), Dan Fogler was one of the guest. It was arrange the he would come to our booth so we provided an escort: 2 or 3 Stormtroopers, Vader, couple of Officers and 3 handlers. Upon arriving at our booth he started to do his shtick; jumping onto Jabba's throne, sticking DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle into Jabba's mouth. Then shouting out "force hold" a blaster would be handed to him where he would say "pew-pew" then toss it aside, he did it a couple of times. He then turns to me and "force hold", I hand him my E-11; wasn't going to be the "sore-thumb" and not participate, where he then as he's about to do his "pew-pew" I hear him say not this piece of crap or something along those lines and tosses my blaster aside (my blaster at the time was metal and plastic and a gift) it breaks in 3 places. At that point it went dead silent and he realized what he had done and picks up a piece goes to me and offers to pay for it (yes he made restitution for it). Now he did have a video of the incident on his instagram page but all post there have been taken down for whatever reason. Command staff was able to get me a new E-11 through his making restitution but never again will I or anyone else inour Garrison hand him a prop. So if you read this this is how I got my nickname but also be wary about handing him a prop. On a lighter note I made a patch to commemorate what had happen.

  35. Mine is my initials....ish Jessica Lee is way way waaaaaay too common (which is great, I'm practically unGoogleable - there's a figure skater, professional violinist, British politician, playboy bunny, actress, and many others), I sometimes stick my Chinese name in the middle to differentiate. I go back and forth between Tongyong or Hanyu Romanization standards to spell it. Just happened to use Hanyu Pinyin for here. On an amusing note, I sometimes use a deliberate bad translation of my Chinese name in some forums. I have a plan for getting a Mandalorian name whenever I finish my Mando armor. I will find the most Whitest peeps in the clan, tell them my Chinese name, and then have them attempt to say it or spell it. It's going to be great/hilarious, especially considering that the zh (hanyu) ch (tongyong) sound does not exist in English.

  37. I have to agree with Joseph here. From what I can see he has consent to print the files. So long as he doesn't remove the watermark and resell them it shouldn't matter what material they're made from of as a finished product. Bishop has shown no desire to resell them so it's safe to say they are for his own personal use.

  38. I don’t like PLA. I make props so I have the supplies available to make castings in the material of my preference. Like I said, I left the watermarks in so it would be impossible for me to get away with anything shady. I’m being open and honest and my build illustrates that. I do agree that some, perhaps even many, people are unethical. That is a shame but if you knew me personally you would know I would never sell anything based on someone else’s work without permission and without compensation. My reputation is worth more than the few bucks I could make selling these. So rest assured, you’ll not see these on anyone else’s kit. Since you bring it up, should anyone ever express any interest, YOU would have the final say in that. Period. And you would get set the amount of compensation you wanted for each sale. But that assumes there would be interest and frankly, I assume I am the only one who prefers the heavier resin over PLA.
