Progress report: So far I have pretty much roughed all pieces together. Going through some sizing and fitting mock-ups. I have placed my order with Geeky Pink for the harness, seals and shiny shorts. Picked up a set of gloves from Imperial Boots. Got my compression undersuit. I’ve also added fans to the helmet, and started to make the snap pieces to attach the cod and butt to the torso. I’ve constructed the belt also. Just need to find a way to keep the back part of the ribbed rubber strip attached to the belt webbing. It’s tricky because it needs to be able to be adjusted for size, so I cannot permanently affix it to the webbing around the back and side near the clip. I’ve tried Velcro but it doesn’t stay attached to the rubber. I’ll have to do some more research. Also, I’m already starting to get some cracks in the sides of the torso and the shoulder areas of the yoke. I’ll have to re-sand, fill and paint again. So far the major flaws in this kit is that the parts that will be flexing the most, from just putting the armor on, are also the parts that have been pieced together and are structurally weak points. I wish that the torso and the yoke was one single piece of material for each. I’ve still got a lot of work ahead of me.3 points

Hello from Australia! Me and my father are building our first armour together (to fit on me) ! I've been asking around on the community for help, which lead to someone suggest we make build thread like everyone else. My dad is very excited to help me build this armour, we are spending more time togethr on it which has been good. Me and my dad used to build heaps of plane/tank models together when I was younger, so it feels just like that again. Everyone has been super helpful and nice on here it's great. (Now I'm starting to think he wants his own armour which I'm thinking he should!) So we've finished (so far) the two forearms and the two biceps before I made this thread, the right arm pieces can be seen below. We are going to start the torso portion tomorrow to fit to my body which will be fun, then eventually moving onto the legs. Help and advice will be much appriciated!2 points

Glad to be of service as always Joseph, it was a shame it took PB so long to get it up and running again. If you see or hear about any missing photos please let me know.2 points

I just checked the Rogue 1 TK out and it is sweet! That may be a consideration added to the list. The reason I was looking at the ANH was just because I saw that movie in the theaters when it first came out. I remember how that movie made me feel back then and how I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So I guess it’s a bit of sentimental value for me.2 points

Still to do... 1. Adjust the strapping on the butt plate as the sides stick out a little. 2. Re-glue the hand plates AGAIN as they keep peeling off. 3. Fill those tiny gaps on the front and back of the thighs 4. Repaint my E-112 points

Hi Troops, This has probably already been done before but I took some photos of the three prop makers side by side for comparison. Hope it helps anyone weighing up the choices on which to buy.1 point

Hi all. I've been lurking here for a bit while deciding what sort of build I want to go with. I've decided I want to do an OT TK build. I'm currently on the waitlist with ATA and I've been advised the waitlist is currently around 10 weeks. I guess I will get started on collecting some of the soft parts and building materials until I can get my armor in. The goal is by the end of the year to have an approved ANH stunt TK. Can't wait to get trooping!1 point

My initial wants were a sandtrooper or snowtrooper. I ended up building a stormtrooper first for three reasons; the opening scenes of ANH when we first see the troopers coming through that door, the fact that almost everyone knows what a stormtrooper is, and the abundant resources available for building an original trilogy stormtrooper (thanks to the awesome troopers here at FISD). Based on that, I decided that my introduction to this hobby should be a classic stormtrooper. There are a number of vendors out there with quality kits and there is a ton of info here at FISD to help you build it. Some of the newer costumes don't have the same resources available (vendor choices, quality, reference material). Also, I've grown to appreciate the wonky, asymmetrical look of the OT troopers - looks like true Star Wars. As mentioned above, RS and Troopermaster are great options. I went with AP mainly because he was geographically closer (Canada) and had quick shipping times. I'm very happy with the kit (I have two - one is a TK and the other is a TD). p.s. the snowtrooper is on order from Troopermaster.1 point

Hi Thomas and welcome to FISD, the time you both are spending togheter is the most valuable part in the building process so far, your arms are looking good. Here you can find a lot of building threads that can give some tips and technics for your project. Also, you can ask whatever you need and I'm pretty sure that some experienced troopers here are willing to help. You may want to take a look to the following forum section : https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ Looking fordward for your progress, cheers1 point

Hello Kevin, Welcome to FISD. If you intended to try put together your suit by yourself, there are several things you can do to get ready: 1) contact your local Garrison (via forum or Facebook), they might have someone near your place or throw armor party periodically. 2) take some time and read through FISD forum, there are a lot of information here can help you prepared, you can start by: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/79-tutorials-tips-and-howtos/ 3) Tony has an excellent thread on building an Anovos kit here, it is THE guide to make your suit perfect: 4) start your own built thread in the ANH build section, that our experts can address any difficulty you might encounter specifically: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ 5) open an Imugur account so that you can post pictures to illustrate your progress, follow this guide: Do let us know if you have more question, Have fun here!1 point

Hey James mine had 4 also seen here. I just cut the tops off, though not required so long as they don't extend past the top of the belt. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-ukswraths-anovos-tk-build-stunt/?do=findComment&comment=4651111 point

A little superglue and some ABS paste, and you can barely tell the button was damaged.1 point

Looks like a much easier repair than mine was! LOL Pro tip: Don't use pop rivets, anywhere you can avoid it. Use Chicago screws, instead, so you can unscrew them if you need to. (use a drop of threadlock or E6000 to make sure they don't accidentally come unscrewed over time) There's two varieties of Chicago screw, one is closed and looks kinda like a smooth-domed snap top (but smaller) on top, and the other is open and looks almost identical to a pop rivet. (except you can unscrew it!) You can see both types here (just before I put the button covers on... you can also see the drop box alignment to aim for):1 point

Hello Joseph and thank you guys so so so much. Everyone. The encouragement is amazing. I have to say, 501st and FISD to me are amazing. Not only amazing direction and organization but people. I have been involved with a lot of organizations but this is outstanding beyond words. Thank you so much for all of the compliments. The DLT-19 came out crazy good and I couldn't believe it myself to be honest. What is even more crazy is that I was able to match my Praetorian to it. So they both are matches. One for long troops and photos and the other for situations that I need something more durable. Just such a cool looking blaster. So I appreciate the compliment very much. As far as the Pauldron. I will admit, after I took the photos, I said DAMN hahahaha I forgot to weather it. hahahaha. So for Centurion I will do it for sure. hahaha. It was one of those moments after putting up the pictures where I just smiled and thought damn. hahahaha I will for sure take it to Level 3. All of the help and advice in previous builds made it a fun process on this. I still have the other kit as well and I have to say, everyone and I mean everyone who sees the other one keeps saying man, that is the ONE, find someplace it will fit. So we will see what I do. I am heavily leaning towards Sandtrooper, but I am going to wait a minute on that as there might be an outside plan on that suit still. So we will see. But this kit is pretty fun to put on and it is so light and so easy to wear so I am super excited about it. Thank you Joseph. Appreciate it beyond words brother.1 point

Thanks to both of you guys! I wrote a dm to @lorddavids asking him some tips. @T-Jay the ANH version is the one i'd like to build one day I'm 6' 1'' tall and 187 lbs. @swibowoj Yes, i'm on low budget about the stormtrooper costume. I'm saving, but i don't have a lot of earnings since i don't actually work and i'm studying full time. Thanks again for the tips!1 point

Yeah, I seem to have just not pulled the forearm enough down and I hadn't pulled on the gloves enough either as I use inner gloves as they are XL size (it's also less sweaty) so it was hard to feel that. Some new pictures:1 point

Thanks @wook1138. I measured mine without my trim on, so we're about the same size on the opening. Funny you mention that you couldn't put your helmet back on. I had the same thing test fitting. I think I was getting hot and frustrated which likely caused a bit of swelling. I looked at re-drilling the holes by using my magnet clamps to hold the bucket without screws. I realized that because of the top cap and the way it fits you end up only being able to pivot the bottom apart a bit. This does make the helmet look a little wonky. Holding the helmet up to a strong light you can see that the holes only get offset about 2-3mm at most and then the holes get a bit too close to the edge. I think I wouldn't be happy with this look for all the work it would take going that route Thank you to @ABS80 at AP for messaging with me off-line about options and ideas. Sent me some info that looks like I can trim a bit more and still keep the proper look. Made me feel a little less nervous about cutting more off my bucket. Hoping to make some more progress after getting over this feeling of "not wanting to ruin my armor" LOL1 point

Definitely no to Jedi Robe, that armor is terrible and very outdated, and is definitely not worth the money. Check out some of the vetted sellers from this link: These makers will be much better quality and will be much more accurate. Good luck with the build!1 point

First let me say it was really heart breaking to cut what I spent hours on painting but I decided to do the chop. http:// by -matthewwormleaton- after some sanding and a repaint I was happy with the result.1 point

Great repair work Eric. I could pay to reduce the amount of return edge you have there, might give you a touch more room to access your amp and less material to get caught and crack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Hi Paul and welcome to the FISD! You certainly did not make a mistake by coming here. This is the 501st forum for all things related to stormtroopers. The UKG is your home garrison within the 501st legion. So you will want to be a part of both. You also mentioned a biker scout, well this is the 501st forum relating to scout troopers: forum.501stpathfinders.com/ Take a look around. I think you will find that the big party is here with us shiny white stormtroopers. If you have any questions then don't hesitate to ask.1 point

Here are a couple of photos I took recently after receiving my new RS armour. Feel free to add them to the original post, if you think they're useful. Don't concentrate too much on any perceived colour difference. The TM is three years old, has seen a lot of dirt and direct sunlight in the Canaries. The RS is brand new (not even trimmed in the photo). My gut feeling says that TM's ABS has a very slightly more pronounced ivory tint. But, if, like me, you mix and match parts, it's hard to tell which is which from the colour. For the record, I own two sets of TM armour and two 3 TM helmets, one set of RS armour and 2 RS helmets. I did own a set of AP armour at one point. Briefly. In all photos: Left: RS / Right: TM And this is what an almost finished (*) set of RS armour looks like with a TM 1 mm painted ABS ESB helmet and TM acrylic capped ESB handguards. The plastic belt parts are also from the 2012 TM kit. (*belt needs to be changed for a proper "sandwich" construction, still need to adjust the shoulder straps and the chest-to-abdomen connection needs tightening)1 point
