The original helmets had gaps you could drive a truck through, you're probably fine with those as is3 points

You are absolutely correct with the left ear angle on the AP, it will not follow the line/angle of the trap, but the right ear does. (left and right as you are looking at the helmet) I managed to get the height almost identical on mine and the 2 other AP kits I have built, but in saying that I had aligned them early on in the construction. If you are not 100% confident that you can get the holes right, it is not worth risking the potential damage on something that is not CRL enforced. I agree with Joseph that you can counter sink the lower screw more as it does appear to protrude quite a bit. Great work on the build Mark.3 points

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what sort of new characters and creations will come out of the film; and which characters will wear the white armor! We're putting the final touches on our newest CRL addition from an all time favorite video game, The Force Unleashed Stormtrooper! While not quite ready yet, keep an eye in the next few weeks for the final details. The troopers didn't fare too well in the video game, but I'm sure they'll be a big hit at troops! First off, a personnel update. Christine Lee, aka "Cricket", has decided to step down from the DO office. Fear not, though, she is still an Imperial Attaché and will continue to be active on the boards doing what she loves, which is helping troopers one-on-one with their builds. Daniel, Mike, and I want to thank her for her help over the past couple of months. As always, we appreciate your patience when submitting EIB and Centurion applications. We have a very good system to ensure every application is seen and reviewed in the order submitted, rest assured that none of you will be forgotten. Overall, we're very pleased to see the steady flow of EIB and Centurion applications. While ANH Stunts are still by far our most popular costume, we do see the occasional ANH Hero or ESB application, and with Episode IX coming later in the year and Anovos finally fulfilling some of its FOTK orders, we're expecting to see some more First Order applications coming in the next several months. A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. Being active on the boards on a regular basis , welcoming new members and helping out where you can is, though. Some of the benefits: 1. Access to exclusive Attaché merch., including patches, etc. 2. Having the Imperial Attaché title under your name. 3. Being a part of the team that welcomes new and prospective members of the FISD. 4. Being the "go-to" person in your Garrison, Squad or Outpost. 5. Exclusive access to the Attaché HQ area, Imperial Propaganda Machine (newsletter) and merchandise discussions. Have an awesome July! and make sure you use that sunscreen at the beach troopers! With Unquestioned Loyalty Preston Christman TK-91488 "Pretzel" PRO Lead - Attaché Ambassador So what exactly are EIB (Expert Infantry Badge) and Centurion levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forum. This area lists all those who have gone above and beyond basic approval toward screen accuracy. Request your free Centurion certificate here If you see any of these Troopers around your Garrison or Squad, be sure to congratulate them! As many of you are aware, the FISD is currently in our March to 1000 program. Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal and have just reached the 923 mark! The amount of approved submissions is increasing (over 80 this year alone) thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help. You can also contact myself "Pretzel" or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you! ****PLEASE NOTE**** Although I try to add any new merchandise to the monthly newsletter not all merchandise runs coincide with each issue, it is always best to keep a watchful eye on the forums and especially on the merchandise area for any new runs as I am not privy to when they may be posted, as such some runs may not be included. Good afternoon all. Derek here from the Orlando FL area. Finally accepted to 501st Legion member status after a quick approval from my GML! Thanks for everyone who had a hand or comment in my build. In total took about two months between taking care of two kids and work...Hope to see folks at Celebration 2020 of if anyone makes it to a troop in the central Florida area. Very excited to get out there and start trooping!2 points

Congrats on your approval, Derek! Now that you are good to go, you are fortunate enough to be in Makaze Squad territory (my last Squad). They have well over 200+ troops a year there. so you have the opportunity to attend a ton of events. If when you meet Gary senior (or junior) please give them my best. One thing I would suggest is applying for Legion Access here at the FISD. It;s easy to do, and it will open up many new areas here that you can check out. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16-501st-trooper-status-requests-include-link-to-your-501st-profile-in-your-request/2 points

Thanks for the feedback, pulled bucket apart and drilled more holes earlier today, without reinforcing (woops). I can get the angles right but I have created a new issue with the ear gap particularly on the left now being pretty big 4-5mm and showing the join below. I’ve tried to drill the lower screw to try and reduce the gap, but I don’t have much space there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Overall a really nice job on this, Mark!! The only thing that jumped out at me was the difference in the height of the ears in relation to the brow. The right one overlaps it a bit at the top, while the left one sits farther down. Not the biggest of deals by any means (and Heaven knows the originals had their own peccadilloes) but something to consider. I doubt many will notice (except for those with OCD like me, lol). If you do feel up to the challenge of adjusting them, you could also center the tops a bit and bring the bottom(s) back if you have the room without exposing the join. In an ideal world, the screws should line up with the angle of the trap above them and the center of the top of the ear should be right below that. Again, not a huge deal, as many of the originals were far from perfect but just food for thought. Keep up the great work!!2 points

-> Thank you Tino for the t-tracks tutorial -> Hassan, for the paint job (the more difficult job for me : I hate painting ), it'll be a flat black, with just a little weathering. I wasn't satisfied by the screw fixing the hengstler counter. The head was too big and touch the main tube when fixing the rail. The counter wasn't strictly vertical. I also wanted the counter not to rotate on the bracket. So I decided to had a nut in the counter in order to tighten more the screw. The nut is fixed with bi-component epoxy glue for metal. I also changed the screw with a more curved head one. The result is more solid and the screw is less visible.2 points

You are correct on those AP submissions, and as mentioned it's not the biggest of deals so it shouldn't affect Centurion status as it is just the way they are made. I can't say I blame you for not wanting to drill extra holes as it can weaken the area if they are too close together, but if you do decide to do it I would suggest gluing on a small ABS patch inside to strengthen the area before drilling. You may also want to countersink the bottom ear screw(s) a tiny bit more. It will help the S trim fit tighter in that area. Again, just my OCD kicking in, lol.1 point

Great news, as mentioned shoulders could come in a bit, thighs up also and if possible try to drop your ab/cod, will reduce the gap around the tops of your thighs.1 point

Iv’e done a couple of these. For a smaller child, cut the Chest from the Ab. Allow that to overlap, also cut the Cod and slide that up and under the Ab. At that stage I would recommend using Velcro for the strapping. Kids grow quickly and the kit can too. Once the overlap is grown into, you can remove the Velcro and switch to a maxed out sizing conventional strapping. Great job BTW suttontech!!!1 point

a little E6000 around the rim of the eye socket, bubble lens that come with the AM kit are installed blue painters tape will hold for 24 hours. trimming this kit like I did on my Sandy & ESB. So I’m making a 20mm cover strip. So this means all the leg fronts will be trimmed 10mm on the front edges. Clamp a straight edge down then lightly score about 4 to 5 times with a sharp razor. Then carefully bend and snap it off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
