  1. Shipping notification received this morning and the big brown box should be arriving on Friday. Waited fourteen months. One fascinating exercise for me this morning was to look back on what has changed in my life since I first placed the order. I adopted a German Shepherd, got engaged, joined a new church, etc., etc.

  2. Thank you very much for both Tony, the approval for Centurion and the birthday wishes. Don't worry about being a day earlier - THIS already is the best present I can think of. Thanks Dan - and send some birthday wishes to your wife, too - from the unknown guy, who kept you busy with your blaster build (hoping she doesn't mind) Thank you Patrick. Very glad it all worked well. Also many thanks for your assistance in setting up the EIB and Centurion approval threads. I really appreciate this and the good relationship we meanwhile have. Cannot wait for our next troop and for looking identically - well, except for your shiny white armor seeming to come straight from the Galactic Academy. No battle damages or what? Take care, mate. And see you next week. Thanks for your trust in me. If your armor build will be on the same level as your blaster build, you will soon get those badges too. That is for sure. Thank you Shane. Glad to finally be here. It took far too long (was distracted by some blasters and the idea, to only build a static TK display ). Looking forward to many events in my area now and in the future...

  3. Alright, I think the scope is just about done. Hollowing now done, had to file out the a little on the smaller end by hand just to get the small lense a snug fit. You can just about see the target reticle in the photo I think, pretty hard to get a picture of it! Looks much better in the flesh, honest! Lol The big lens is sitting a tiny bit off centre at the moment, but I'm hoping to put something down the side to centre it better, then I can fill in any spaces with green stuff and it should all meet up nicely. Just trying to work out the painting plan though: think I'll start just by spraying some paint down the inside of the scope to black it out. Then I can install the big lens, do the putty etc, then go for the full spray and lastly stick in the small lens [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  5. WHAT??? Just checked it and except of one broken link, everything seems to work. Maybe it was just an issue with browsing via phone. Anyway, that PDF file is the most important thing. The broken link belongs to my "HOWTO make your power cylinders more accurate" tutorial, which seems to got lost in the recent forum upgrade. Cannot find it since then... Thanks for keeping him covered so fast.

  6. My E-11 was built by Blaster-Master T-Jay himself following my wishes according to a certain budged Unfortunately this is why there is no build thread There is only one thing which I want to change as soon as possible. The last thing to be changed is the scope including some kind of lenses.

  7. Alright Tino let's do this. Welcome back and thank you for your Centurion application. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required submission photos are present. Thank you for making the suggested update during your EIB application. Beautiful job on your build . You can tell you really wanted this Centurion badge. The Empire would be proud. Andrew and I are pleased to say your armor displays all the elements as set out in the Centurion CRL. Congratulations and welcome to Centurion We also understand birthday wishes are in order for tomorrow but since we're doing your app today, Happy Birthday!!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: Time to head out and make the Empire and your garrison proud

  8. Unfortunately, one factor is how much of their production process they're allowed by LFL and Disney to disclose. My own feedback to them has been to just have a "coming soon" page for things that are planned or in-development, that doesn't go to live "pre-sale" status until everything is in their LA warehouse and has passed QA checks and is ready to get divvied up, packaged, and shipped. From there, it'd be a fairly predictable glide-slope, and they'd have an easier time making projections, and the consumers would have less frustration at delays that would have all happeened behind-the-scenes. I also suggested a "friends of ANOVOS" private list that would get e-mail alerts when they were ready to begin the development of this item or that costume, and those folks could -- with all the caveats and warnings -- do the tiered pre-ordering and such... Just being cognizant that the shipping date when they pay is "someday". That would also cut down the number of casual purchasers who don't realize what a long potential wait they're letting themselves in for.

  11. I picked up this from amazon: Beistle 20731 Velvet Santa Hat with Plush Trim, One Size Fits Most (Red/White) [2-Pack] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077BNW839/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OYYjAb0E4Y2CQ Using a seam ripper I split one of the two hats along one seam up to the ball on top. The other hat I split along both seams to remove one section of the hat. Using some safety pins I spliced in the removed section into the first hat and test fitted it on the helmet. It was a little loose, but close enough along the original seam lines. After that it always as simple as running a stitch line up the original seam lines of the hat to make the addition permanent. My sewing skills suck, but it’ll do for a quick job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  12. I noticed the two colours/sides a while back and should have said something. I have a couple cover strips with the 'other' side out. Not too bad though. At least not bad enough to change them out. I sand the edges thoroughly with 120 grit before applying E6000. I really am amazed at how strong that stuff is. BTW, I am a total OCD perfectionist. Part of my ongoing therapy is 'letting go. Accepting the imperfect.' Yeah right. Whatever. The Empire demands our perfection!

  14. I did velcro for ab to chest so I can get in/out of my suit easier. I would suggest elastic (heavily reinforced) for back to kidney though, I had nylon at first and every time I had to reach forward I could feel it tugging.

  15. So time for another update! I was able to get all of the extremity pieces trimmed! Also I plan on painting in sections. When I did my ANH I did two larger groups and I ended up messing up on my first batch so bad that I had to repurchase the parts again. Anyway I learned a whole lot about using rattlecans to paint and I think I'm set. The only reason I painted the hand plates was because they are pretty much their own section. They attach to the gloves and nothing else. My sections are going to be Arms, Chest, torso, belt, legs, and helmet, in no particular order. Here are my trimmed Kneeplates. The trimmed Shins. I went back to work on trimming the forearms. I'm still a little confused about the side sections but I'll figure it out. Here are the trimmed thighs. I was lucky enough to have KB draw on the correct lines for more accurate thighs when I picked up my armor so it was a lot easier to trim. I'll be working on the Chest/Back/Yoke area next. I have to wait for my gaskets before I get into sizing and trimming again.

  16. Hiya. I found these pics from Tino’s build very helpful. To give you enough room for the cable/wire at the back, perhaps a mil or two poking through. If your greenstuff is still ‘wet’, you could possibly go a little smaller/flatter on those bits, if you wanted. Not essential though. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. I used the brush on method in my fiberglass helmet. If you do dribble, it seems to peel off pretty easy. I put some of the velcro to hold padding in before I "painted" otherwise I would have probably needed to scratch off some of the plastidip for adhesion. It does help "black-out" the helmet quite a bit, and I think it looked better both from the outside and well as the inside.

  20. Thanks for the flowers - but come on guys, you make me blush. There are many people on FISD, knowing how to build good blasters. Please do not put me on that pedestal. I am just happy that this blaster can keep up with that very cool TM armor. A new scope with lenses? That would finally bring your blaster to 100%. Got you covered, mate. Ready when you are...

  21. No need to disassemble. I used the dip (not spray) and cheesecloth. I wiped the inside down with a little rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt. Cut the cheesecloth into smallish 2” squares. Use a sponge brush and dab (not “brush”) a small amount on to make a sticky surface. Put the cheesecloth down and dab more plastidip on top and repeat until fully coated. Then I did a couple full coats all at once at the end to fully coat everything really good. You can hold it up to a light and look through to find spots that need more dip. I did this on 2 Anovos and an ATA helmet. Not sure if the dip would cause any harm to any other maker/material. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. Well, some people do all one or the other. Each has pros and cons: Nylon Pros - Durable, easy to cut (melt) Cons - No flex, more stress on connection points (possible damage to strapping/armor might occur) Elastic Pros - Flexible Cons - Harder to work with (fray check, sewing usually required) If you go with elastic I'd recommend getting the heavy duty thick stuff and doubling it up, personally I used nylon for most areas and only have elastic in a few spots for flex, for example one side of my ab/kidney connection is nylon but the other is elastic so I can actually get the snaps on and off.

  24. Hey Tom. Great work so far. :-) There’s a superb pinned post about power cylinders below the Blaster Reference post.m in the weapons section. Shows a selection of different versions of the cylinders. In the meantime, here’s a few angles of mine, if that helps. :-) Dan :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. Boy I do have to give it to you for your patience with not only cutting and gluing the ABS parts but having to seam and still go through the fitting and painting process. Overall how has your experience been thus far with this kit? Would you do it again?

  30. Congratulations my brother. As I said, today is your Centurion day My Centurion is 360 Your Cenurion is 361 and both are beautiful TM armours. Very cool my friend I think, we have to clarify who is in command during the upcoming mission next week at our cinema event. Two Stormtrooper at the rank of Centurion would be grimly rivals in-universe

  36. Good luck, hope you get yours soon as well. I think they're trying for Fall/Winter with their current orders, so I would imagine they ship them as they receive them from their production company. I'm pretty sure they go by month and fulfill them from the earliest orders, I remember an email from them back in September saying they've fulfilled up to October 2016 orders at that point, and I had ordered mine in November 2016. Also did the payment plan but as long as it's paid in full I don't think that makes a difference on the estimated ship date. My order says the date I ordered, not the date I paid it off. And they recently changed the armor kit from "interest list" to "reserve now," might be a sign that they're finishing their current orders and getting another batch ready.

  40. I have talked to Joe in the past. I went ahead and sent him this email. I'll update you if he sends a reply. "Hey Joe, Reaching out to you since customer service is lacking when it comes to answers on where a product is. Myself and others are a bit upset on the slippage of the release date on the First Order kit I would like to see if you can answer any of these questions to help put everyone at ease when it comes to a date that these could be done. The first notice sent out in September made it sound like you were just trying to produce these when the ship date was less than a month away. Were you made aware of this issue prior and waited till then to inform us? I know I made my pre-order last December. Is there a reason why this issue took 9 months to notice? A lot of us would be a lot less upset if you were more forthcoming on ship dates up front and more frequent emails about where you are at in the process. We are a tight nit community due to forums and such. If you made the community part of the process in where you are at and the struggles you encounter. I think more of us would be okay with the way things are going as long as they are issues and not just poor timing or putting new projects ahead of ones that have already been done. May I suggest having a person from your company part of the forums. A big one would be whitearmor.net. There aren't a lot of companies doing what you do and as a community we want you to succeed. However the vibe we are getting from the infrequent communication, customer service giving vague answers and reps at cons promising ship dates that you can't deliver on is putting ones that have ordered trying to decide if they need to cancel an order and go elsewhere and putting off those that are looking to purchase from you into looking elsewhere. From the hands on demos you have shown me at cons gives me high hopes that you will deliver the best product at the highest standards possible. Though with the poor customer service that I have felt you have given me and the community I am going to give other options a harder look next time I look at your products. Sincerely, Gavin Black"

  41. That's a tough call. Since their shipping estimates are for their customers and their refunds are for ex-customers you can imagine where their priorities lay. My 14 day refund took around 10 weeks if that helps. Others have received it faster, other slower. It's almost like scheduling isn't their forte.

  42. How difficult is it to cancel an ANOVOS order? Do they botch refunds as badly as they do shipping estimates?

  47. Update 03: - weathering the armor People might wonder why an "idealized" armor should get any weathering at all. Well, some color deviations between armor, hand guards and boots forced me to do this. Weathering will hopefully conceal or at least reduce these. But first I concentrated on the armor itself. Decided to go for a weathering which I had seen on the TK from Stefan (Turrican). Old newspapers got soaked with water for a few minutes, then rubbed over the armor. This transferred some black ink and highlighted the edges. It was done on all parts, increasing from the helmet to the boots. It is water resistant, but can get removed with some mild plastic cleaner or with ultra-fine sandpaper. Enough words. Pictures: And the rear side: In case you haven't already seen it, here is the inside view with the standard strapping. I preferred this, because the original strapping has some visible screws in the torso. Unfortunately the camera's automatic mode changed while shooting. This caused some pictures to have warmer colors than others Any comments and critics are welcome. Please let me know, what you think of the weathering so far. Thanks in advance.
