  1. I usually use the Rustoleum high performance enamel gloss white but during my latest trip to home depot they were out of it. The store associate suggested I try the universal primer and paint While I am not a fan of the nozzle, I prefer the good ol spray paint caps, the paint finish is very impressive. High gloss. I sprayed two helmets last night. I'll post up pictures of those helmets later today
  2. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm looking for a particular metal screen/mesh for finishing mic tips. The mesh that is available where I have looked is the one used for patching screen windows and doors but its the kind/type where it is made up of metal strands that are weaved. When I cut them down to size and attempt to insert them into the mic tips they get misaligned and even become unwoven. I have one helmet that has the screen/mesh that I'm looking for. It came with my ATA helmet. It is one solid piece not woven together. I'm looking for just the screen/mesh not the entire mic tip assemblies. I have plenty of those available.
  3. If it comes with the Darth Maul full sized statue pictured next to it then maybe it might be worth it.
  4. I love my ATA armor, in ABS. ABS is so much easier to work with. I've built HIPS kits and was able to paint them in an acceptable finish but after making a kit from ABS that requires no painting I wouldn't do HIPs for a TK again. The glossiness is too good to replicate with spray paint (IMO). I have another HIPs kit to make but I'll be making that one into a Sandtrooper. BTW, ATA can make kits in black armor too.
  5. Here's my opinion/answer to question 2. I chose the butt joining method for the TK limbs because it is screen accurate. It looks better to me too. You have to ask yourself what your ultimate goal is with your TK armor project. Do you want to be in the 501st? If so, then the overlap method is perfectly fine. I did the overlap method with my first FX kit (however that kit was built without my knowledge of whitearmor.net). BUT if you want to be in the 501st AND take your armor to the next level by also being accepted into the levels of EIB and Centurion status here on the FISD then butt joining is what you need to do.
  6. You guys looked great. I guess we need to help some brothers out and upgrade their "yellow" FX lids.
  7. You took my idea. I want that music for my entrance to my reception . . . it that ever happens
  8. As long as you are using good card stock paper it should hold up. Here in the states we use 110 lb cardstock for pepakura. I don't know what the Euro equivalent is. Here is a good FAQ page about pepakura http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/3008-The-Ultimate-Pepakura-FAQ
  9. I have a Darman one too. Fast shipping. top quality products!
  10. How big of a person was the suit originally made for and how big are you? Wait . . . has this thing been fully assembled yet? Looking at the second picture it looks like the halves of the legs were shipped unassembled. Are the pieces just laying on the floor in the last shot?
  11. Thanks. I'll try best to have a good Friday where I'm at . . . NOT at CVI
  12. Great. Now someone show us how to put that rivet in the actual place on the armor that it goes; ie right thigh piece Once my thigh piece is already assembled I doubt I'd be able to work with a hammer inside of the thigh trying to fasten a rivet there
  13. I do have coilovers now. I don't have them dialed all the way down because the roads where I live are crap and I don't wanna have to replace a cracked oil pan. My obsession with Star Wars armor is already the expensive hobby I'm dediated too I do though wanna widen my stance
  14. Ask for for the right arms then. The left forearm looks made for a left arm, it would need more work to look "right". BTW, you are being too fussy. Those armor idiosyncrasies are what make a TK a TK
  15. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=8117&st=0 I used the French Blue. I like it
  16. Armor looks really good. Are you missing the plastic belt button covers? I don't see them on your belt
  17. That's what I did recently. I'll post up a picture of them later today. They came out great. 11mm width of the buttons
  18. I just did mine this past weekend. I used a 1/8" drill bit to make the hole into the Hyperfirm. I drilled all the way through. I cut about 15mm from the chain link
  19. I think 6 ft might be the limit for an ATA, (IMO). Do your research check out the other ATA builds that have been done & compare their physical stats with yours. I'll be posting up my recently completed ATA pictures later tonight.
  20. I think the ammo belt on the right thigh needs to have more curve than just a rounded off corner. Other than that, looks good to me.
  21. Agreed. I wish armor makers would just supply their armor with inner drop boxes .
