  1. No my friend, as one of the event coordinators for our garrison last year I know we had many events last year. Its just unfortunate that your location is not near them. All the information about our garrison's event participation is on our garrison's forums and is up to date. Don't worry you'll have an opportunity to troop soon as you stated.
  2. could you be a little more clearer as to why your thighs don't fit? what's the situation, your thighs too small? too big? If too 'big' then you'll need to add shims. pics please
  3. Yes pics please. but the kit did come with two sets of ears though?
  4. Looks good so far. Wow, I didn't know the sides of the ab piece flared out so much.
  5. I've built ATA suits in all varieties except ROTJ. No difference in the armor, only the helmets & belts.
  6. You want bubble lenses to make your helmet a hero version right? That helmet pictured, at least from the inside, looks like its a stunt version because of the frown holes currently open. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16270-anh-frown-reference-pix/ You'll have to fill two frown holes for a hero it you're planning to use that helmet.
  7. The temperature of the paint in the can and the outside temperature where you are painting will also effect the outcome of the finish. Its supposed to be winter still but we've been having 70 degree temps in most of California this month.
  8. Very nice build so far. I miss my TX . . . it was my 1st 501st costume.
  9. So you're asking if someone will let you recast their armor? for $100
  10. looks like the same $10.49 one that's available through Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/80-piece-rotary-tool-kit-97626.html
  11. I'm 5'7" and have built and worn both ATA and Ap kits. No modifications done to the lengths of the limbs in any way. I once had an FX kit and that was the only one in which major mods were needed to fit right.
  12. I have an AP helmet and I CAN wear my eye glasses with it on.
  13. I haven't had any problems ordering from doopydoos through ebay. Previous orders I've received my items within a week and a half. Two weeks at most.
  14. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19240-maker-of-things-and-what-to-do/?p=272385 This guy said he did that with a set of MOT armor.
  15. That is acceptable for basic 501st membership. EIB and Centurion status here on the FISD no. You'll need a more screen accurate canister. One which base is a PVC pipe. Metal belt clips.
  16. That would work. First glue a scrap piece of plastic on the inside of the kidney piece, blocking the hole. Then mix up some 'ABS paste' and start filling the hole with it.
  17. Nice armor Mike. Are there still some remnants of TD weathering there? I cleaned mine too but I still have some left in some areas.
  18. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/21101-wire-mesh-for-mic-tips/ I asked the same question awhile back. Here is that discussion. gazmosis sent me the material that he was talking about. I haven't used it yet. I think that stuff is too tight, the mesh that is. Its weaved tighter than the aluminum screen door material. It is really difficult to use, its hard to fit inside of the mic tips without coming apart. But once its in there it looks right.
  19. I'm so upset I missed our 501st photo. I got some wrong info and left the convention center for lunch I did suit up, as an Imperial Officer, and escorted our Vader for a bit. It was a great show. Looking forward to next years and hopefully a return of WonderCon to the Bay.
  20. How tall are you? Your belt looks really wide too
  21. Its up to you. You should hold up the cod piece to your body then test fit the legs. Complete the legs though first. Fit the armor thigh pieces to fit your thighs. Once you start cutting off and trimming plastic you can't get it back. I've never had a problem of my man parts getting pinched . . . by armor. The cod piece works like a "cod piece". Plus you should be wearing underarmor of some sort of compression pant to give you support.
  22. 1/2" more on the brow should look good enough. FYI, the mic tips that come with AP kits are good enough for basic 501st approval but not for EIB & Centurion here at FISD. Looks like he still ships them out with sink/faucet aerators.
