  1. I first bought a HIPS ATA kit three years ago. It was good, the difficult part was that it needed to be painted. My second ATA kit is made of ABS and I LOVE IT! Easy to assemble and no painting.
  2. Wow, great job! It came out really good. If you could, post up more pictures of the full suit (profile shot, back, front). Is she going to join the 501st?
  3. Is this the kit that came with snowspeeders and a canon/turret? I had one of these back in the day.
  4. Yes, John Danter from the UK. He has the hero ears and helmet lenses.
  5. It is true. There are armor makers that will pull specific parts for you. I've had to do that several times.
  6. You can make brackets to hold the thermal detonator with aluminum strips sold at Lowes.
  7. Your ammo pack on the right leg does not look correct. The third block should be centered along the bottom of the thigh. The center strip basically aligns with it.
  8. I used to be a Revenue Agent. If I came across a situation like this I would not allow it. If you're attempting to write off the cost of a TK suit (or any other costume) you need to prove that the sole purpose of it is for charitable work. You need documentation for EVERYTHING. You need a calendar of every event you attended, record of mileage, receipts, etc.
  9. Are you done growing? 14 years old I'd hate to see you spend money on a Stormtrooper suit only to have it not fit in a couple of years.
  10. Well said. Make total sense. I experienced this. The male snap on the right side of my ab piece is functional. I used webbing instead of elastic and after three troops in a new set of ABS armor have created a crack. The crack is repaired but I should switched out the webbing for elastic.
  11. -----------------Three 8oz bottles (all three levels) + polishing cloth $14.99
  12. Well done. Get ready for all the "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper" comments/remarks. I'm the same weight and height as you and I get it all the time.
  13. Outsides over insides
  14. Good looking suit. Do you have a blaster?
  15. This looks nothing like the armor used on the original movies.
  16. I have a neck seal and holster from Darman. I sewed the belt myself.
  17. The same wear and tear is happening to my boots. I've trooped with them only twice. I think it is a good idea to make sure to have smooth bottoms at the edges of the lower leg armor and add some material at the bottom (ie velcro or felt). I think you could repaint the worn areas on the boots if it bothers you that much. It takes awhile to acquire TK boots so I understand your feelings about wanting to care for them
  18. My first 501st approved set of armor was a Black Hole Trooper. I wanted to be different and stand out from the crowd of white armor . . . but I got tired from it. The general public is not familiar with it and so I was called "tie pilot" & "little vader". I don't have that armor any more but I would get another set again some day.
  19. Good find. They should work fine. Paint them white.
  20. The helmet looks strange. The front trapezoids on the cap and back look too big. They look as big as the back ones.
  21. I usually use the Rustoleum high performance enamel gloss white but during my latest trip to home depot they were out of it. The store associate suggested I try the universal primer and paint While I am not a fan of the nozzle, I prefer the good ol spray paint caps, the paint finish is very impressive. High gloss. I sprayed two helmets last night. I'll post up pictures of those helmets later today
  22. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm looking for a particular metal screen/mesh for finishing mic tips. The mesh that is available where I have looked is the one used for patching screen windows and doors but its the kind/type where it is made up of metal strands that are weaved. When I cut them down to size and attempt to insert them into the mic tips they get misaligned and even become unwoven. I have one helmet that has the screen/mesh that I'm looking for. It came with my ATA helmet. It is one solid piece not woven together. I'm looking for just the screen/mesh not the entire mic tip assemblies. I have plenty of those available.
  23. If it comes with the Darth Maul full sized statue pictured next to it then maybe it might be worth it.
  24. I love my ATA armor, in ABS. ABS is so much easier to work with. I've built HIPS kits and was able to paint them in an acceptable finish but after making a kit from ABS that requires no painting I wouldn't do HIPs for a TK again. The glossiness is too good to replicate with spray paint (IMO). I have another HIPs kit to make but I'll be making that one into a Sandtrooper. BTW, ATA can make kits in black armor too.
