  3. Working on placement with as much references as I can get. Started with the rail and rear sight, had to cut down the rail from a different plan to work with this plan. Then adding scope and counter trying to match the blueprint image from e-11 reference thread. Placement of the clip was also a concern and from images hard to exactly tell, although I know it would feet into the barrel a certain spot on a real SMG. Then placement of the handle seemed straight forward but saw a little bit of variance in sources. Hoped that my placement would be good. Adding all the final small pieces and smoothing out print lines leaves the blaster ready to paint. I decide to fix the bolt in place and have the whole blaster static, maybe my next one will be fancier with working selector and sprint. And finally late at night in the bike parking space I hit the blaster with the first light layer of spray paint. It makes an amazing transformation from white to black and goes from plastic to Rebel nightmare in seconds. Leaving it to dry overnight in the morning I can see some missed spots and will keep hitting it with light layers until it is ready for trooping. Once the layers are all done and the end cap with spring added I will post a review.

  4. As of now you have two, ANH Stunt and ANH Hero. You don’t get additional awards for the same costume type.

  5. After 2 years of trooping (as part of the Galactic Academy) alongside my father (TK-72313) and my uncle (TK-17671) in my own TK, I finally became an official member of the 501st this month! Now to get my Expert Infantry and Centurion approvals! Big thanks to my squad mate @DeathTrap for the Photoshop!

  6. A friend is being generous with his time and 3D printer ( prusa ) and will be printing an ANH E-11 Blaster for me. Files are all from the internet and the end result may or may not be worthy of higher levels. It will be printed in PLA and using Dichloromethane to smooth and weld pieces together Rayabear original source of files. There is some details lacking, noteably the knarl on grip, that can be replaced with other posts on the same website. In the comments he mentions refining the models but did not upload those improvements. Slic3r had some issues with faces and sometimes needed to go with an alternate source. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:957801 alternate source ( basically same files ) https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2460290 Blaster grip with knarling https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1924136 This is the box of printed parts, only scope and power rails remain to be painted. The spring I will make with a hanger or look for other suitable alternatives.

  7. Hi there! It's finally time for me to build my a femtrooper armor. I'm doing this for my beautiful girlfriend, @Vicky_Velocipanda. She recieved the BBB yesterday (nov. 16th) and we started right off with trimming and assembling the helmet. Here's the progress so far. Unpacking the BBB... trimming the ears... trimming the rest of the helmet... and assembling it: We will trim the eyes and teeth later today and document it. Afterwards I started trimming the backplate and then... well just went on. So this is what we've roughly trimmed now: Vicky will modify these boots to fit the CRL. The next step is trimming the legs and arms. Is my assumption correct, that we're supposed to use the butt joint method here with an inverted coverstripe? (on the inside instead of outside) Or shall we use the overlap method? p.s.: this thread will be pic heavy.

  9. This will be a long post, as I was locked out of the forum this past week. This helmet gave me so much trouble, mostly because I forgot how much I hate painting. In any event, I attached the brow and realised afterwards that the CRL states that it should be a 1/4 inch above the eyes. I decided to keep pushing forward since taking it back off would have been a major pain. It's a shame as I was aiming to hit all of the level 3 certifications. After that I fought with painting for around a month with numerous coats before I painted on the details and got ready for the clear coat. However, when I put the clear coat, it reacted with the paint and caused it to bubble and distort and made a big mess. I thought about launching the helmet off the balcony but decided against it, and sanded it back down as best I could. I repainted it and took extra time for it to dry before putting clear coat on, and that helped but still left the helmet less than perfect up close. I also painted the interior black and put all of the electronics in and the lenses. I finished up the belt by using snaps and glue, and I'm pretty happy with how that came out. And finally today, I glued on the last of the grey squares on the helmet, so I donned the whole suit and took some pictures!! I think that it's ready to submit and I'm super excited to get approved and start trooping with all of you!

  12. Hi Danny yep your assumption is correct butt joints are required and the supporting strip should be non visible so used on the inside [emoji106], just to say modding the boots can be a painful experience also I’m assuming your going for version A due to the heels [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Placement of all attachment parts looks spot on, Robert. Like Brian already mentioned, you could do some details and weathering to push this blaster even further.

  14. Forum threads are identified by a numeric id. Look at the url and you see the number straight after the topic/ part. that is the only thing that matters for referencing a thread and that should not change at all if a thread gets moved.

  23. Troop #1: Cincinnati Comic Expo 8/21/19 The Cincinnati Comic expo was the debut of my costume! I wore it for nine hours and it was surprisingly comfortable! I know that sounds really weird, but comfort in a costume for me is not having to worry about anything falling of, or slipping down. I also installed fans in my helmet, so it was actually cooler with it on, than off! It was SUPER crowded there and I was stuck in the con floor with people crammed in all around me. I was a little bit worried that people would get mad at me if I stayed in character and I wasn't sure if I would do it, but I got so frustrated because we were in dead stop traffic that I just yelled "Step aside!!". Surprisingly everyone did! I could hear people laughing or saying "That's so cool!" As I pushed past! So for the rest of the day I interrogated people and forced my way around as if I owned the place! Just like a real stormtrooper! The costume also won first place in the Journeyman level of the costume contest! Journeyman is the second of three levels. The Kenner card they had there worked out perfectly! Even though my costume was pretty comfortable, it was still a long day I would also like to clarify any misconceptions about EVA foam not being sturdy. I wore this thing all day and it received little to no damage. I you know how to make it correctly and don't crash around like a bull in a china shop, then it will be fine! There are a few upgrades I am working on. I'm making a new TD because my original one is too small. I will also be adding some more velcro to my TK belt, because it was slipping down just a little with the weight of the holster. I'm also working on a pauldron, R1 style hard field pack and a T-21 blaster for Halloween! I'll post pics of them when I am finished!
