  1. Having the button covers off center is also fine as that is screen accurate Reference (pinched from Mario)

  3. I got @Scimitar's blaster in the mail, did the build, and shipped it back to Eric... and I managed to not post the photos. I'll just share the finished ones instead of the build. It's another Quest Design using identical parts, so they'd be slightly different angles of the same build photos. Parts added/changed: - Real folding stock from @justjoseph63 - Replica Hengstler counter from BlasterFactory.com - Greeblie kit from @justjoseph63 - Some spare upgrade kit parts from @T-Jay - Scratch build sight box - weathering and clear coat This would look a lot like the before photo. I added some brass weathering to the scope and gave everything a ton of clearcoat. The whole blaster got 6 coats of matte clear. The T-tracks and grip got an additional coat of semi-gloss clear. Then the grip got 2 more coats of gloss clear. Sounds like a lot, but the finish is really lovely. I built a sight box using the same stuff I did on mine. Even got to use another of T-jay's threaded rods! I built new capacitors from left over T-Jay stock. There was exactly enough for the two guns. Top scope greeblie from Joseph is looking mighty fine. The counter is a reproduction piece from blasterfactory and is really fantastic. Eric wanted the same Miata odometer guts that I used in mine, as he's also deep in the Roadster cult. The back side of the counter is open showing the labeling. Rather cool feature. Awwww yeah! The folding stock from Joseph and sight box build were the reasons I was doing this build. Since everything was fresh in my mind and all the tools were handy, this took about 25% of the time that my first one required. Both blasters fresh from factory rebuild. Eric's up top, mine on the bottom. From the same assembly line. Ready for action.

  5. Hi Nick. Looking at the canvas belt and ABS belt, I would suggest to try this: 1- The positions 1 and 2 your marked, try to center the canvas belt with the ABS belt as the other side (positions 3 and 4) 2- For the left side of the Belt (positions 3 y 4 ) You could trim a little more the ABS belt to match the canvas belt. Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD David Sack (TA-52568) of Starkiller Garrison departed on December 8th, 2021. Dave was a 501st member since 2015, creating amazing costumes that he and others loved! He was one of the few makers of Rebels armor and LOVED everything about the show. Throughout the years he has helped countless people make and build their armor, hosted armor parties and was an absolutely wonderful person to everyone around him. In the hours just before his passing, he was working on a new Mando and posting memes like he always did. The Garrison trooped for the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins Star Wars night on the same day as the viewing/funeral. There was a lot of emotion in the room. His kindness and joy left a deep impression on everyone. Prior to the start of the game, the team took a moment to honor him. Once that was done, everyone made sure to be upbeat for the rest of the night. It was what he would have wanted, and truly did feel like he was trooping there. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Daniel Murawski (TI-14546) passed on January 9th 2022. He was a 6'8" trooper that LOVED every chance that he had to troop. He has been a 501st member since 2016, and had a TIE Reserve and a Bridge Crew costume. He was also working on an OT TIE Pilot costume during the past year. When he wasn't trooping, he also loved gaming, and all sorts of nerdy things. He was not extremely active of late, because of his career. However, he always made time to interact with his fellow Starkiller Garrison troopers via Facebook and other means. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Calvin Deckert joined the Legion on Aug 22, 2007, and had the nickname Gigantor. He was not in the Legion long as he subsequently enlisted in the military, where he made Sgt. in the US army. He loved helping returning vets reacclimate to home again and also helped military families deal with the unknown. While his time was short in Garrison Carida, many who knew him were shocked at his passing. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Scott Goodvin (SL-52673) was a member of the Imperial 80th Squad of Central Garrison, who passed on due to a battle with long-term illness. Scott was a staple at any troop done at Acme Comics in Sioux City, which is owned by two fellow 501st members. He loved going out of his way to make sure everyone got to have a moment with Vader, and being able to costume as the Sith Lord was his pride and joy. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Mike Galer (TK-8493) was the squad leader for 621st Detention Squad, which is active in the South Dakota Territory of Central Garrison. He served for many years on the command staff for the garrison. Affectionately known as "Pooh Bear", Mike, along with his wife Missy (TX-4839) and their children, were founding members of the squad and trooped faithfully across the garrison boundaries over the course of his 11-year trooping service. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Leeroy Simpson (TI-2541) joined the 501st in 2010, and was a member of Great Lakes Garrison until his passing on 22 January 2022. He enjoyed attending comic cons with his granddaughters. He also owned a collectibles store and was a classic car enthusiast. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. This is my first entry as the new Detachment Executive Officer! First I would like to thank Andrew (Sly11) our amazing FISD DL for thinking of me when it came time make choices for his staff. I first signed up here in 2011 and have loved this place ever since. I was finally approved in 2014 and I never left. Many of your current staff members were all getting started around the same time. I consider this place my home. It has always been a welcoming place and I have met many of my legion friends through this detachment. I am so honored to be able to give back now as the XO. I have loved being your DCOG for the last 5 years and have learned so much about the detachment and its members since then. I want to thank Chris (themaninthesuitcase) for being by my side through most of it. He truly is a very special staff member and I consider him one of my best Star Wars 501st family member nerds. I know he will continue on keeping this detachment running smoothly as he always has. So now what? Well I think Andrew has some very special things planned for this detachment for this year. You all should be very excited about being a FISD member. We would love to have participation on our forums be at an all time high this year. We have always stressed Troopers Helping Troopers and we certainly cannot do it without all of you. So please pass on to your legion friends who are stormtroopers to come over to our forums often. 7. I have no idea what I'm doing! So I'll start off by the first post here as a photo dump of my kit from Walt's Trooper Factory. I've done some trimming on a good chunk of the armor + all of the soft parts on hand. The ANH E-11 holster more or less commits me to an ANH build. Feel free to guide or correct me in my forum-ing. I've been conditioned to MMCC threading. I'm now learning how to use these forums like a normal person now. Praying that the imgur link format for forums is consistent here. I've had these parts on hand since like the summer of 2017? I've been too scared of messing something up and being basically stuck and probably being locked on the off chance of making a critical error in trimming and sizing.

  8. Well the day has finally arrived where I got to see those BBB's at my door. I ordered a set of ABS armor from RS Prop Masters and after about 4 months, due to a fire at the RS shop, it has arrived (minus neck seal which is still en route)! Luckily everyone at RS is ok and all of their original molds are safe. At first glance it looks amazing! Being my first ever build and not actually ever interacting with any armor before, I initially thought it would be thinner, but I am very glad to see it does feel sturdy. First sight Bucket parts. Probably will save for last...if my will power will hold Everything all laid out Strapping pack from RS even though I think I ordered everything separate as well since I want to try and go the double snap way I had done a good amount of research before purchasing, and then even more after and while I was waiting for it to a arrive. I decided to go the route of build it myself even though I have never done this, and have received a good amount of support already before even starting. I have also decided to go the route of Centurion right from the start. I will say after opening it all up and seeing it all...it is a bit daunting. I know this is the place to ask questions and I'm sure I will have plenty but just want to say I am super excited to get started! OK so I already have some questions. 1) I am planning on following build threads, but do I need to necessarily follow a thread to my type, ie RS? I saw the top build thread is for an Anovos set going for Centurion and briefly skimmed through and can see differences. I would guess it is pretty much the same, but maybe finding an RS thread would be better? I also have Diana's thread marked to follow and I think she went Centurion? 2) I got a big piece of what I think is ABS, see in the back of the picture of everything all laid out. What is that for? 3) There are a couple pieces that seem like one is a lot bigger than the other. Forearm and thigh (I think) come to mind. Thanks, Matthew Edit: I just realized that I think the vocoders are missing on the helmet. I have emailed RS and expect they will send them, but if anyone notices anything else is missing please let me know!

  9. You should be ok for basic approval but for higher levels : L3 The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt.

  11. In a perfect world the button covers on the ABS belt should be centered as Mario mentioned, but I would have no issues passing this at Level 3. AWESOME job, sir! The eye openings look much better. What I would suggest at this point is to tape the lenses behind them to see what sort of look you have. That will give you a better idea of how much (if any) more you need to trim. As I'm sure you are aware, the teeth openings could use a bit of "sandpaper love" to smooth out the sides and corners (first photo). The cutouts look great, they just need a some refining, and an easy way to do this is to use a plastic straw with a single layer of fine-grit sandpaper wrapped around it. While sanding, be sure to use an up and down motion rather than back and forth one. The reason being is that if you go back and forth you can create notches on the sides/top of the tooth. Since the straw is flexible, you can do the corners as well. This works on the eye openings too!. (Sorry for the awful graphics, lol) Reference image As seen in the reference pic above they don't have to be perfect. Part of the charm of the original buckets is that no two were 100% exactly the same. You are learning fast, Nick, and I look forward to seeing your progress!

  13. Thanks for this note, Joseph! I was just telling Justin the other day that I love learning about the history for various armors and makers; very interesting stuff! And I agree about Dave's communication--always very good with me. The OCD in me is looking for slightly wider TD end caps than the ones I got from you. =)

  14. It looks great to me Nick. well done. another detail, are the side square buttons . As you can see in the references, they sit a little centered Reference Keep up the great work.

  15. Thank you very much for the detailed response! Before I make the final cut I would like to double check: 1. If I cut along those lines It should be where it´s supposed to be right? 2. The point about centering will be addressed accordingly as well. As you can see the two outer most edges to the left are about 1- 1,5 mm larger than the ones on the right side, which I will just sand down. After that the belt should be centered. (I know.. I know the black lines aren´t straight) Of course the Drop Boxes will be moved over accordingly. And again thank you very much for the help!

  16. It may seem like a pain in the posterior plate, but I have a solution: The canvas belt is mounted kind of low and needs to come up a bit (like 3 mm or so) and the end trimmed down the same amount. This would reduce the length of the 45 degree cut, but that is fine and will meet the requirements. The drop box position (touching the ABS belt) is spot-on, but it would need to be moved over. I know this seems like a small detail and one that no one would ever notice, but it's these kind of things that will set you apart when you reach Centurion!

  17. I might be a bit late to offer some advice, but I also had issues with wide calves. You can see in my build log that I joined my shins and forearms in a V so the openings were sized right. Also with an inner/outer strip and gap filler to make as much room as possible. Also for shins I created a lock to hold them in correct place as I need to hold them exactly the right spot with a lot of tension. One of my last posts trying a new lock pin system, it worked well for troop but the pin needs improvement for removal.

  19. Thanks for the info. I didn’t check and simply followed the airgun’s original 9mm diameter hole. I’ll try to enlarge the hole to 11mm next time I take it apart. Most parts of this build are either screwed in or bolted on to cope with situation like this. Asahi’s outer barrel diameter is 35mm, not the correct 38.1mm so I imagine there must be lot dimensions that are not correct. Anyway, I’ll try to get it right, thanks again.

  23. You’re absolutely right about feedback, in the normal sense of the term. I guess what I was thinking was more the wearer’s spoken dialogue (if using a mic and Aker amp) being picked up by the live listen mic and being fed back to the wearer’s in-ear AirPods. Basically hearing yourself talk, possibly with a slight echo-like delay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. Feedback 'shouldn't' be an issue as the mic is unlikely to hear what's coming out of the buds. Loving the idea.

  25. Shortening the brackets will allow the plate to come around This info is from @justjoseph63in an EIB application: As seen in the reference images below, the plate on your TD needs to come down in the back. The ribbed area should face toward the rear, with the O ring on or near the top. Reference images Doing this is actually easier than you think, should take all of 10-15 minutes, and this is what I would suggest: 1. Remove the clips and trim off the ends (as shown) with a hacksaw. 2. Rotate the plate to where the ends meet the bottom of the plate (like you have it now). 3. Drill new holes as shown. You will have to drill new holes for the other screws as well. 4. Re-attach the screws. DONE!
