  1. POST 68 Photo taken in Miramar, FL on 11/24/20 Something a little different from a troop photo. After a long day and suiting up to take his Centurion submission photos, my son Alex started to take off his armor and I caught him with this candid shot and just had to do something with it. With some editing magic, he became that TK that just barely made it out of battle and is ready to head back to the comfort of his barracks, while at the same time contemplating if he was really cut out for the front lines..... 2. The trooper who guided me through the building process said it normally takes about 60 hours for a normal TK build and that mine took twice that amount because I was so focuses on making sure everything was made to a higher level. Once things calm down a but where I’m at, I’ll get ready to submit a pre-submission for EIB. I’ve already done my first troop up in Flagstaff. Hopefully some troops open up down there so I get to finally troop with you valley troopers!

  5. Attention all Imperial citizens of the FISD We have been working on a project which has been under discussion since the start of this term and are preparing to move forward with this initiative. It will form part of our 15th anniversary celebrations and part of detachment history. We can't announce exactly what it is as yet, but we are sure you will love it. We want your troop photos from around the world. Local troops, Cons, Celebration etc. If you are a TK and 501st approved, you can submit photos. Photos of TK's both OT and First Order, any of the costumes in our CRL to be honest. Can be a single trooper but group photos are very welcome. What you consider your best troop photos or most memorable can add more meaning to this project so select carefully. Ultimately we are after High quality or resolution photos, but for this thread, you need simply only add a lower res version using Imgur or other photo sharing 3d party services. Just make sure you have a good version to supply for the project if requested . Based on how many submission we receive, the final selection will be made by the staff. We are looking for the best and most varied photos old and new. If selected, you will receive a PM from myself or one of the staff requesting you email, share the high res version image (email will be supplied in the PM) Google doc or other sharing services can be used. What info do I need to supply with my image post? You may post as many photos as you like. Date or year the photo was taken and location. (state or country etc) Photographer name if known for each photo. Garrison/Squad/Fire team name. Photos must contain TK's predominantly, we are Stormtroopers after all. Both old and new photos are welcome, history is a great thing specially in our anniversary year and we can't wait to reveal what this is all about in the coming months. If you have any other questions, please ask in this thread to benefit others. Looking forward to seeing some awesome Troopers on assignment.

  6. Hey there guys, as I start to put the final touches on my Anovos TK, im bugging to put together a new set of armor, deciding between a Shadow trooper or an Incinerator trooper. Ive been told time and time again that the words cheap and high quality dont go hand in hand, which I am aware of, but seeing as im off to college this month, I have to keep financials in mind. I got my Anovos TK for $400, which in retrospect was an absolute bargain. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some more "affordable" kits. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Blue Bantha

  8. Id like to build a kit, not buy a completed one. I already have all the necessary tools, undersuit, blaster, and stuff like that. All i need is the plastic kit. Not a member yet, as I havent had my TK approved, waiting on boots. Ill check the for sale/trade page as well

  9. Thanks Glen! I will try the hot water bath and keep that in mind when adding the cover strip. M

  11. Keep in mind, too, that the Shadow Stormtrooper is actually from the Spec Ops Detachment, so you may also want to post on their forum. That was certainly a good deal you got on your Anovos TK. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Hey guys, when it comes to adding ABS Sludge and then sanding, how do I restore the sanded area back to the glossy state of the rest of the armor?

  14. Trimming the ears is pretty much everyone's fear on their first armour build, but dont stress. The ears should have trim lines on them. Trim short of those leaving some room for fine tuning and further trimming and adjustment. Once you have some of the excess removed and you hold them against the sides of the helmet you will get a better idea of how much more you need to remove. There are a few other tricks to employ when you start getting closer to those trim lines but just take it slow, trim carefully and keep testing against the helmet for high and low points. Here is a great tutorial on Ears for you. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/29238-my-helmet-ear-tutorial/

  16. Next year? Sure whatever. We’ve waited 5 so far, what’s one more? I agree it’d be really nice to finally get my kit, but definitely not holding my breath either. I too wonder if they’re gonna use the original molds that are shown in the ANOVOS assembly instructions or if they’re going to use more screen accurate chest plate and yoke pieces. Either way we’ll at least have something to show for our patience (if we get them).

  17. Well it is what it is... Another year 2022... :')'A new hope?' or 'Empire strikes back?'... I kinda lost interest with the First order... But we shall see if it rekindles... Or might just trade it off for whatever Instock store credit they have of any Instock item

  20. Well, it's only for higher levels of approval. And even so, its fairly easy to correct in most cases by simply taking away a bit of the side: That's what I did with my belt after making a similar mistake EDIT: you should probably cut a better (straighter and parallel) line than the one that I added to the picture

  21. The notch is fine as we see it in the movies, BUT not all on screen troopers had them, it was an adjustment for height, the taller troopers didn't need these mobility cuts as they had a bigger gap between the thighs and shins. We always recommend to finish off a build and try out the suit before making any mobility cuts

  26. Normally you need to add a little heat to get them to sit right, the better they are from the get go the better they will close. Even using velcro I find if you don't use some heat they won't fully close. A lot of people use the hot water bath, submerge for a short period in hot water then hold to the shape you desire until it cools. If they still don't close fully you can glue a piece of abs behind one side so when closed it will pull the other side flush. You may also notice with RS on the left back of the shin towards the bottom that the left side is smaller than the right and the split is not central giving a slanted appearance, to help this you could add the coverstrip offset to this side, so instead of fully gluing half the cover strip just add 1/4, this brings the covestrip over a bit which will make it look more central. Quick example of what I mean

  27. This is really a hack for people who already have a helmet and are working on the next one. If you already have a helmet and are pleased with the way the ears look (even if there is still a gap), your next set of ears can come ridiculously close to perfect! 1. Tear a wide sheet of aluminum foil about square. Fold it several times (for rigidity) until it is a little larger than an ear cover with good margins. 2. Press the foil tightly around the ear cover on the existing helmet. Capture as much of the detail as possible, as this serves to index the position of the foil template on the new ear cover. 3. Take a narrow implement with a straight edge and really press the foil to the edges of the ear cover that mate with the helmet. Be careful not to tear or puncture the foil. The curve at the cheek tube may require a little extra persuasion to conform completely. 4. Press and shape a second time to ensure the foil did not shift. 5. Carefully remove the foil from the helmet and place it over the new ear cover. 6. Trace the trim line. 7. Be conservative and trim close to the outside of the line first. Make small adjustments as needed. 8. Rinse and repeat with the other side. 9. You should have little to no gap with the new set of ears. 10. You're welcome!

Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD It is with great sadness that we share that Jeff Ritzman, TK-423, passed away on February 24th, 2021. Jeff was one of the founding members of Old Line Garrison, and served as the CO of the Maryland Squad when the territory was part of Empire City Garrison in 2001. While the territory was part of Garrison Carida from 2002-2003, Jeff was instrumental in the transition of Maryland Squad into Old Line Garrison as it is today. Jeff was a talented designer and created many of Maryland Squad and Old Line’s first logos that are still used. Additionally, Jeff had one of the most accurate Episode IV Vader costumes and was an avid prop collector of screen used items. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" On 23 July 2021, our dear friend and trooper Marc Lim (ID 70666) passed away. Marc fought bravely, and never gave up. He will be deeply missed by all of us in the Singapore Garrison, and also by those whose lives he touched. Your zest for life and ready smile will not be forgotten. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow members What a huge month July was, with our anniversary kicking off and the special edition coin run. Almost 1500 coins order from our membership making it one of FISD's largest coin runs based off the legion coin data base numbers. Hopefully in a few weeks these will be arriving in the mail, putting smiles on faces. We will continue to celebrate our anniversary through to June next year, and are currently working on what other special anniversary merch items we can bring you, so please keep an eye on the forums as this is where all the announcements and juicy information is posted. We have plenty of merch slots left to fill, and some really nice ideas for different items we hope you will love. All runs will definitely have interest threads posted in advance so make sure you visit the boards monthly and remove the possibility of missing out. August is here, and we continue through the year with great attendance on our forums and chatter in our social media channels so thank you to all who participate. August brings with it the start and ramping up of CRL work. This will continue through the next several months with varying degrees of change. Some of this work is simple maintenance of existing CRL's, the rest will be considerable overhauls and also new to legion CRL creation. There will be notification and grace periods for any amendments that may effect approval on some costumes, so those working on any that do undergo treatment will have the option to run with the current version or the update. Members Database update I have been working with the LWM team (Legion Web Masters) to assist in some bulk updates to clean up our data base. I don't expect any issue to arise from this work, and it should yield some cleaner results on how many members FISD have. These updates mostly took place at the start of the month so there is only minor adjustments now left to complete the task. Something new We have been working on an Idea/project since February this year, so keep an eye out for a post requesting good quality troop photos. I shall explain more when the post goes live in the Notifications section of the forums. Thanks again to all of you for keeping our forums busy, interesting and exciting. The team look forward to bringing you as much fun, information and improvements we can over the next 6 months. Lots more to come so stayed tuned. See you on the forums. In the latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, an early George Lucas idea is finally paid off with familiar Ralph McQuarrie armor designs for the Empire's first Stormtroopers. In the new episode, the Bad Batch receives a request from Captain Rex to rescue the Clone Commando known as Gregor who's been held against his will on the planet Daro. While there, Clone Force 99 gets their first real look at their Imperial replacements, the recruited Stormtroopers that make up the bulk of the Empire's forces. However, their armor looks to be in an early and almost prototype stage, resembling the earliest pieces of concept art created for the first Star Wars film. In the new episode, "Project War-Mantle" is underway, and the Empire is making preparations to leave Kamino after shutting down their operations and taking their research and lead scientists. Not only that, but they've been using highly skilled clone troopers such as Gregor to train their newly recruited Stormtroopers who've enlisted from all over the galaxy to replace the clones. However, Gregor is trying to escape his new Imperial masters, which is where the Bad Batch comes in to attempt an extraction. While using unused art and ideas from Lucas for the new Stormtrooper proto-armor is pretty fun, it's not the first time showrunner Dave Filoni has integrated Mcquarrie's work, as several elements in Star Wars Rebels were directly inspired by specific pieces. For example, the series' central planet of Lothal was based on several pieces, including one that depicted Lucas' vision for the Capital City of Alderaan. Not only that, but discarded designs for R2-D2 and Chewbacca made their way to becoming the core Rebels Chopper and Zeb, both crew members of The Ghost piloted by Hera Syndulla. In any case, using Mcquarrie's work in this latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is a great nod to the past while providing a brand new chapter that aids in the transition between the Republic's fall and the Empire's rise. Furthermore, it's more than likely that these proto-armored Stormtroopers will be seen again, seeing as how the Bad Batch's Hunter was captured himself by the episode's end. As a result, it's more than likely that a new rescue mission will be staged as the new Star Wars animated series reaches its finale on Disney+ Story from Screenrant Concept Data sheet Currently (as of 5th August 2021) there are 31,911 approved costumes in the legion, out of these homed under FISD there are 5,783. Interestingly the larger the legion costume totals grows the smaller amount of TK's there are with now only 18.12% of all approved 501st costumes.
