^THIS^ Since it's "abrasion resistant", trying to sand or polish it off SUCKS, so absolutely mask well. Just wanted to state that again for the sake of this thread haha2 points

Probably still a little premature for a build thread, but I'll share a quick update. Still on the ATA wait list and should be 2 to 3 weeks out before I'm up. I have a completely empty/unused bedroom to use for this build and have set up a 30"x72" table as a work space. This past week I have gotten all the elastic, strapping, and velcro I should need for this build. I have also picked up a bunch of snaps, rivets, tools for both, clamps, new razor and hobby knives, steel rulers, Goo Gone, E6000 adhesive, china markers, and acrylic scissors. That table is filling up fast! Things I have on order: Hellhound: E-11 blaster so hopefully that will be here in a few weeks. UKswrath: Audio system with voice modulator, cooling fan system and TD clips which should get here this week. Trooperbay: Paint and paint brushes, helmet decal templates, holster, gloves and hand guards and a neck seal have also all shipped I believe PilotBay: TD kit (wanted one larger than the ATA 2" kit) Applied Magnets: 20 each of 2 sizes of rare earth magnets. Should be here this week. Thinking I might need more if I do magnetic closure on the calves/shins. Amazon: Airbrush kit - Delivery tomorrow (Yes... I know it isn't needed, but I don't want to use decals and my painting skills are sadly lacking) At this point, the only things left that I know I need to order are the boots which I can order March 5th apparently and a canvas belt but I want the waist measurement from my armor after it is cut and shaped so that will wait. Might also order a garter system... still mulling that one over. All in all, I think I'll be ready to hit the ground running once BBB day arrives.2 points

Hello Rasario, welcome to FISD. If you are on a budget, the most logical course is to take it slowly, read up on all the tips and built threads available on this forum (this is some real digging and heavy reading, so much knowledge here) and save up in the meantime. Twice in a year there are windows / openings that makers will likely to offer limited discount on their kits, keep watching for the news here about such opportunities (just before May 4th and Black Friday). Have fun here and good luck~2 points

I did this. Its magic. I admit I needed to clean up a little of the edges, so taping off correctly is the key. I have not decided to do the inside of the armor for two reasons. 1. the RSP authenticity stickers with my suit ID and name in it would be an issue... And 2. I have had to modify slightly and or repair some snaps etc. already. I know that once I am awarded Centurion (Because I will... WILL have it), that perhaps I will change my mind, but I can not do the armor until I have that rank first.1 point

Been doing this to my ABS helmets for years! Velcro sticks just fine. I wonder if spraying the whole suit adds a noticeable amount of weight or not, and if it protects the edges from cracking - I notice the OP has ROTJ-style trim around it... Either way, I'm very open to gathering more info if anyone else wants to try!1 point

I would suggest starting by being very clear about which property you are referencing, specifically, and sharing any photos/screenshots you may have. Each video game may potentially be a different base costume style, and therefor separate CRL. I would narrow it down and focus on one if you really really want to wear that red pauldron. I'm not certain there is a 100% official answer, but the Wookiepedia article on Canon Pauldrons, lists the below: Again, we never saw any troopers in the original trilogy movies wear red pauldrons, so they would not be considered to be added to those CRLs in really any circumstance. Same with orange pauldrons for non-Sandies. But, an example for more context, we DID see non-Sandy Captains wearing orange pauldrons in the Rebels animated show, so it is an option for that CRL. Gotta have solid reference, then someone has to build it! https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_rebels1 point

After years of making excuses to not join the 501st I've finally decided to take on the challenge. Life long Star Wars fan so mixing that with doing charity work is too much to pass up. I've decided to go with ATA ANH Stunt armor and am on the waiting list now. I've been going through the different guides and am stocking up on all of the recommended supplies and tools that I should need to make everything happen. I'm lucky enough to have an unused bedroom in the house that I will be setting up as a work area. Hoping to have the build done and approved in time for the world to open up again. Huge thank you to everyone that has worked to put all of the guides and links together. Without all this information I wouldn't have the courage to even attempt a build like this!1 point

I would recommend, start your Build thread with this info. This helps new members who are starting their builds, to see the prep work and the forethought put into simply getting the plastic and getting a E11.1 point

Thanks!!! I'm starting on the thermal detonator just to get used to cutting and gluing. Next will be gloves - all the low hanging fruit. Chest and abs will be next.1 point

Just sold my Sandtrooper to a fellow trooper yesterday and he's been off work since Covid began here, I asked would you like to try it on and he said he'll need to loose some Covid weight first as he won't fit into his own TK armor anymore, seems it's hit a lot of troopers so you are not alone. Good luck losing those pounds, easy to put on, not as easy to get off again1 point

Man thank you brother that means a lot1 point

SO. I worked some more on the bucket, installed the lenses, messed with the ears a little (Although I think I’m through trying to get them perfect at this point) fixed the aerator screens, made the eyes sharper, and cut a bit more out of a few teeth. Then I trimmed the chest some more, the ab plate, butt plate, and kidney plate and did a (very) sloppy test fit. I’m very happy to report I very likely won’t need shims thanks to quarantine weight loss and with a test fit of one of the thighs I likely won’t need them there either! Very happy. (Excuse the mess, I just moved!)1 point

I've seen a number of new stunt helmet builds out there and I've bookmarked the good ones but if anyone out there has links they would recommend, please share and post here - thanks!1 point

Yes squeaks and clanking is pretty common. The largest knows was you sniper plate hitting the thigh, you could try some foam behind the sniper plate which should help hold it away from your thigh. Once you try your mid section armor you can work out how much gap you have at the top of the thighs I added a little foam inside my thighs as they were a little loose.1 point

So I'm thinking the legs are done finally. Camera lost focus towards the tail end unfortunately. Bit of a sharp edge on the left cheek. Will have to remedy that.1 point

Thanks Mario and Brian. Many thanks, that is what I indeed hoped for. And after these years your MUJI box made it onto that helmet and soon into my collection. Closer to the finish line but the aim is to put the maximum possible additions / alterations onto a single helmet, so yes, there is still something more to come...1 point

New stickers in place! I've also thickened the rank bars.1 point

Well I'm not an expert, but at the least using velcro is an interim solution. Heck that is what we had for years before someone thought to use snaps instead.1 point

So here's my next problem with the belt. It utilizes some button snaps that honestly just seem inadequate. I press them on, they then pop back out. So first I considered replacing these with Line 24 snaps. Something a little more beefy. However, examining these button snaps a little closer, I'm wondering if I bent those internal pins inwards a little more, would they tend to snap on and hold better? I've not encountered something like this before. Anyone found a solution for this or am I on the right track of replacing them with line 24's?1 point

I found one already! Question about these decals, do they need to be shiny paper/plastic, or are they regular matte adhesive paper?1 point

Hi Glenn, and thank you for your EIB application! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armour. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. An awesome build and CRL addition , well done! Centurion Requirements; In this section we prepare you for Centurion. Because Centurion photos show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. Nothing to add Trooper, you're golden straight to Centurion Level !1 point

okay, so it looks like I'll be going with the Stunt and I want to make it look as screen ready as possible. I just go word from AKA Works that he just got the plastic in so should be shipping by the end of the month. I've already got dremels (two different ones) drills and bits, etc. so I'll be coming back here frequently once the Big Brown Box arrives.1 point
