  1. Att all our 501st Detachment members! We mentioned we would hit the ground running so here is our first official initiatives for the new term. It give me great pleasure to announce the opening of a couple of new Sub forums today. These can be found in the Detachment Merchandise area in the 501st section of FISD. Before I get into the details, I would like to thank @starsaber25 (Steve) TK-10466, not only for this fantastic idea, but for putting these sections together and accurately compiling their content. This is the first time we have made this information so easily accessible, and possible we are the first detachment to create this style of initiatives in house. FISD Coin and Patch repository We have one each set up for coins and patches currently which contain all FISD coins, and patches. These have been made easily accessible to all 501st detachment members to peruse without having to log into the Legion collectors database looking for FISD specific merch items. These will be updated every time another run is done so you will have a quick reference archive at your finger tips, where in the past we only kept basic archives in the background. TK Trading Post Want to trade or sell 501st approved merch without the cut throat masses that exist in the social media trading groups, well here is your latest opportunity. We have created FISD's own "in house" trading platform, the "TK Trading post", open and ready for action as of today. This forum has a strict set of rules, so we please ask that if you wish to participate in the sale or trade of legion merch, that you read and adhere to them. They do follow the Legion guideline, and the forum will be moderated to keep it a safe and honest platform. Keeping it on a smaller scale and in house than what currently exists should be great for our community and newer members whether you are just setting out on your first collection or looking to complete and existing one. Yet another reason to visit FISD and become a member of the legions largest detachment. We hope you enjoy these latest additions to the FISD forums. These new areas can be found here. 2. Greetings fellow Stormtroopers I would like to announce your Detachment staff for the new term. Many familiar faces but there are some changes and a new addition. This is the first one of these announcements due to the size of the plans for this year, we will indeed be adding more bodies as we move through the term and start new projects. We will be looking to increase our extended staff on the IPM team in the next couple of months so if you would like to help out, please send me a PM. In the mean time we do keep our eyes on those we see that are immensely helpful to others on our boards and do look to recruit form there as well. 4. My canvas and ABS belt are connected with rivets. So when I gave the ABS belt a water bath, the canvas got wet as well. Of course I could have removed the rivets, but I don't have any spares and they are hard to come by during lockdown -.- Anyways, I already got an answer from Ross, he's got me covered and he'll also sent me some new rivets

  5. Hi everyone, let me tell you a little bit about why I'm here. Along time ago , especially in dog years, in a galaxy far away, the next county over, I began volunteering for Special Olympics. I have really enjoyed the times I have spent with my ladies and gentlemen over the years and learned about the joys of giving. Along the way I started liking comics and after awhile I went to couple comic cons.. I would see a lot of people in all kinds of costumes and loved getting my picture taken with them and to talk to them about their costumes and what it took to make them. Also around this time I was reading a lot (far more than I do now) and found a wonderful source of books called a public library. I went to the library for a couple of years and got to know a couple volunteers and regulars.. One day one of the librarians and I were talking and she mentioned that one of the younger volunteers wanted to have a comic con.. I immediately volunteered to help out and helped organize some Magic, some D and D and got a hold of my local comic store owner then of to the races we went.. The small town pubic library con was a terrific success.. Soon after I went to a con in Pittsburgh with my daughter(her first con at the age of 15) and I told her that there was gonna be a bunch of Star Wars people there.. We got to the con and we bumped into a couple of Stormtroopers and she got her picture taken with them ,this was my first interaction with the 501st. I got the chance to visit at the table with other troopers(while my daughter waited in line to meet Jenny Weasley) and learn about what the 501st was about.. The next year I was head of organization for the library's con and I knew just who to request first.. The 501st showed up and made the small town library comic con so much better.. The next year we expanded into our local high school and along with more vendors , a bunch of new tabletop gamers willing to teach anyone who walked through the door how to play and of course the friendly 501st( the high school band marched then through the hallways to their table playing the theme from Star Wars). We have had 3 years of cons with the 501st and I have finally decided to join up and have fun with another charity organization that is so cool.. Last spring bought a MTK ANH trooper kit and I have made good progress so far but I still have a long way to go.. first I have almost finished my helmet and would like to post some pics so I can get some feed back from the White Armor Forum along with my local garrison members.. Thanks for being patient and may the force be with you.

  6. Thanks @MaskedVengeance and @gmrhodes13, I'll be happy to share the files when they're done.... "when" is the question LOL While I should have been modding and printing pack parts, I got a wee bit distracted and accidentally printed a DLT-19 instead. All parts taking longer than an estimated 16 hours to print were split in 2, which means more time finishing but less time listening to the missus moan about a noisy printer in the early hours of the morning. The model is off Thingiverse (Star Wars DLT-19X blaster (MG 34) by surfinbird132), minus the scope, plus the bipod. Whilst it's certainly no 3DPropsNL model, it's close enough for the occasional troop. All parted printed in PLA+, 0.2 layer height, 4 walls, 25% infill. I've already started giving some of the parts a light sand with 400 grit wet/dry. Thereafter they'll get a coat of UV resin, another rub down, and a final coat of resin.

  7. Hovi mic tips I had trouble getting the ears to fit on the overlapping helmet parts. Because the ears are trimmed flat and the helmet is curved. I found in a build thread about sanding the ears with a notch cut into it for a better flush fit. I was very nervous about doing this because the helmet is the most important part of the build and I so afraid of screwing it up. But, I took my time gradually trimming a curve shape on the tops of the ears and a notch for the overlap, and found this to work out well. They fit in much better now and the ear screws are aligned with the trap line. Now I paint the inside of the helmet. S-trim ''Thank you Trooperbay'' Here is the result, and it's been well worth it. There are probably some details that need fixing which I might have overlooked. Please let me know if any adjustments are required, I am open to all suggestions.

  8. Tube stripe stencils that I printed off, carefully cut out and tape many times over and over again to get the position just right and even on both sides. After 2 coats and some tooth picking later, the tube strips are done. It took me about 1/2 hour on each side to carefully remove the paint bleed, and I am very pleased with the results. Now the last detail to paint is the vocorder. It was a little tricky to see where the vocorder lines would be on the edge, so after looking at several reference images, I used a pencil to draw the lines in. That helped me a lot and it made painting easier. That's all the exterior detail painted on the face plate.

  9. Hey all! So, I finally got my ATA kit ordered, and he was kind enough to send the bucket out before the rest of the kit so I could get started on that. Not my first TK bucket build, but after my last one ended up as more of a display piece than anything approvable, I’m taking this one a tad slower.

  12. Hi Rodney, Do you have any photos? The black elastic on the bells does indeed “cup” them inwards. This is correct. I would certainly consider adding some elastic inside the bell to the bicep. Here’s how I did mine: The bicep hooks were not very common on stunt stormtroopers. Han had them but they were not commonly seen elsewhere. Personally, that’s why I prefer to have some discrete internal strapping. :-)

  15. Did you give your canvas belt a hot water bath? The ABS belt is good.. it just needs a bit of trimming so not to worry. GREAT to hear you are jumping on this!!

  17. On to the most crucial part of the build...the helmet. It's been fun and exhausting all at the same time, but that's what makes it all worth it when it's completed. I am so glad I had the helmet trimmed, because I would be so nervous about cutting and drilling the faceplate myself. I did not want to use the decals supplied, so I went down the 'paint everything' road. I started small an worked on painting the ears. Then I painted the frown. And the traps.

  18. Thanks, I try to be detailed in my build not just for me, but to help any future troopers with AP kits. Although it is not as descriptive and photo heavy as other build threads, I still want it to be helpful for those soon to be troopers. I've fixed the thigh ammo pack as you have recommended, I trimmed 2mm off the top and bottom so it looks more screen accurate. I got to work on drilling the holes for the split rivets; the ammo belt I measured 10mm from the top and from the edge. The thigh measured 7mm from the top and 15mm from the back edge. I used a dab of 6000 to keep the ammo belt in place. I took your advice Glen for the back coverstrips and trimmed to follow the edges. Are they good or should I remove some more?

  21. Yes ATA's wait times have definitely reduced with the influx of other armor makers, when I first purchased the wait time was 6 months, it went up to 9 months the following year but now down to around a month.

  22. Hey Chris, Just signed up today and saw a fellow Central Floridian. A few years back, I bought a TK from Jedi-Robe for Halloween. I'm not an expert but I think it's ANH trooper. Anyway, I'm not sure how much tweaking I'll need to do to it but seeing the great things the 501st does has made me want to get involved.

  26. "Holy necro resurrection Batman!" I'm back to be building this. I have been long absent. Too many moves to count. But have finally landed at a stable place. Much have have changed. For one thing, I have sorted through a lot of boxes and found that I have parts for at least two full E-11s. And a lot to spare. Almost... I need some the metal hardware. The pibe I made myself is too inaccurate. And need some new ones. Plus scopes rails. Can anyone point me to a good reliable source, preferably within the EU? Thanks!

  27. So I got ABS pasting my thigh seams, but I think I should've gone the thinner seam route - I didn't know how bubbly ABS paste could be - I think I have a density problem - the shade of ABS on some of the areas seem a bit darker - would it be better to paint at this point? I thought polishing might help it, but not really
