  1. Mine is similar to Nadas, it was also for minecraft. I didn't really know what it should be at the moment but I knew I wanted 2 nouns and 1 verb in it. First, for the nouns... What do I like? Lego and Pokemon. Verb? Maybe something I don't like? Eating? LEGOdonteatPokemon? To long... LEGOeatPokemon, perfect! Noone would have that name! (Lego uses big letters because thats how their logo has it)

  2. Let the game begin. Today was BBB day. Another lucky costumer. Thanks to 850AW. Great job and very fast shipping.

  3. Got mine back on the old lego website. Wanted masterX but it was taken. Sugessted digits were 244. They stuck to me since then. (sites that don't want digits in their username are annoying due to that. )

  4. Cool to see this thread, had no idea it was a thing! Breaking down the name, it becomes 2 words: Star and Trooper. Star because I’ve always had a fascination with space, ever since I was little. And it’s in the title for Star Wars as well. And Trooper, because well, you know I also wanted a name that sounded something like stormtrooper, but slightly different.

  5. Plain and simple. My name is Frank my badge number is 75-139. It’s just became a “username” for everything. Easy to remember, unique, and meant something. I was just happy they had it as an actual TK number when I got in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Ok, I'll play. Wook (from wookiee) is a nickname from my university days. I had longer hair which I usually kept under a ball cap. When I took said ball cap off... well... I also had a decent wookiee howl. Years later I would meet old Alumni who still didn't know my real name, just "Wook". The 1138 part is because "wook" was already taken as a username.

  7. So in the wonderful days of my childhood minecraft came out I’m 20 so was when I was young I got suggested Nada469. Really close to my real name Nadas take on letter off easy and completely different meaning and no connection. If you want a story for my real name being Nadas, a unique one named after a skater name Natas now you see why there is a d there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Great idea to revisit this thread, Tino. For me, I did nearly 9 years in consumer electronics sales, (TVs, home cinema etc) and really enjoyed installing our demonstration equipment. Lots of cabling, hence CableGuy. :-)

  9. Almost exactly five years ago this thread went through the roof. Who remembers? 139 replies within two months only! Many of us got to know each other a little better because of the stories behind the nicknames that were shared. Scrolling through the pages now, many avatars and signatures bring back good memories. Yes, since 2015 some members (sadly) left, but on the other hand a lot of new members joined. New members, that might not be aware of this thread, so I thought it could be fun to dig this out again. The topic says it all, so get on your keyboards.

  10. Thank you everyone for the help! I can't wait to get out there and Troop. My first troop will be a local Con in two week. My ID is my Father's birthday. He passed away 6 years ago. He was always my hero and my inspiration. He took me to all the Star Wars movies, starting with A New Hope when I was only about 4 years old. I don't remember it, but I do Empire and ROTJ. I took him to see all the prequels. And now I've been passing on my love for Star Wars to my son, who I'm helping build his TK as well (learning from my mistakes). If Only You Knew: Cutting the ABS would hurt my hand so bad. trim/sand slowing ears are hard Ask for help, there is lots of it out there. you will make mistakes, the armor is somewhat forgiving, and most mistakes can be fixed with E6000 and scraps Save your scraps Oops!: Life happens The build done right takes time Cost just starts with the kit, it adds up with the tools, and extras ASK FOR HELP! don't be so gun ho to think you can do it alone. Watch the videos, go to armor parties, take pictures. A funny thing happened on my way to the Death Star: I could not have done this without the help I received from the other members in Garrison Tyranus. I was terrified to cut my armor and they gave me the confidence to get the work done. E6000 doesn't cure well in the cold Always have a spare propane tank for your propane heater. Measure 600 times, cut once (very carefully, and a little at a time). Shout Outs: I could not have done this without the help of the former Garrison Tyranus CO, Stoagie Schwank TK-4863! He helped me from BBB day to Approval. many weekends in his garage, including several Armor parties. Also Reese Ensign (29992) and Tim Allen (10930) for helping guide me through the approval process.

  14. I prepped for spraying the plasti dip by lightly sanding the interior with 400 grit sandpaper. I left the screws in the posts and taped around them since the tape didn’t want to stick to the sugru. I used Scimitar’s plastic bag trick for the teeth.

  16. After years of researching I finally purchased an AP trimmed helmet last year. My Tie Pilot build got in the way and after a year of procrastinating, I decided to purchase the untrimmed armor and get started. I have finished the helmet and will be posting my progress so far in a few posts.I am less confident with the trimming and assembly of the rest of the armor which is why I am starting this build thread. ~Ryan

  17. hello all , and a BIG thank you for all the information provided here, I have definitely gone down the rabbit hole ... I already joined our local garrison here in Oregon , and have emails out to several vendors on prices and options. I currently have it narrowed down to ATA / RS Prop / TM , still awaiting a few replies back before I pull the trigger for my first TK build. ( 2 days ago I would have looked at that sentence thought WTF) ... LOL I am not very 'crafty' so I am leaning toward a more trimmed version ( like an RS prop) , but I am looking at local build parties and frequency so I may go more DIY, time will tell. Availability will also play a part in my decision, willing to shell out a few more bucks for a lesser wait ( amazon prime has spoiled us). Cant wait to get by 'big brown box 'and start a post for my first build , thanks again for all the great resources this site provides! Keep you all posted! Any comments or recommendations for a more a completed TK build for a 5"9" 205 lb male ( rocking the dad bod!) , open to to suggestions!

  20. Thanks everyone for the warm wishes , still reading, reading and reading and getting my inquiries out. One bit of advice that I received form our local garrison here in Oregon is join in as a spotter at a local event, good advice! Be nice to see this armor up close and get ideas and reference points before I pull the trigger, that's coming up in March. Still awaiting responses form TM / AP and RT on kit builds, seems doing my research and from some feedback that TM and AP might be the ticket to help out with the "dad bod" LOL , I am 5'9" and 205 lbs. Appreciate the support, you all are AWESOME!

  21. As a Star wars fan, my favourite droid is R2D2. Put that with the first three letters of my first name Martyn. MAR2D2. I also thought is was a clever play on star wars themed names. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  22. Until you can size them, I would be conservative in my cutting. Obviously the return edge can go. If those bells are anything like my DT bells, they probably have a rough transition (some bumps, lack of definition of the ridge) from the return edge to where the surface is nice and smooth. I would keep some extra to make sure the bells are large enough when it comes time to size them - then you can shave away as much of the outer edge as you need to. So, I would trim less than what you have taped off - probably half of that for now.

  23. The best dog I’ve ever owned was called Echo. (and I’m Jenny). JenEcho is our kennel name (registered with the Canadian Kennel Club) and it pays homage to my beautiful girl who is long gone from this reality, but who lives forever in my heart.

  28. I started trimming the forearms and hand plates. I think I will trim all pieces first and start assembling after that. Instead of putting the two halfs of the td together , I think I'll look for tube.

  38. Prior to applying the plasti dip, I installed t-nuts with sugru following scimitar’s instructions. I used the trooperbay lens and traced the eyes and cut them to shape. I wanted the lens to be flush but with only 2 posts on the edges, the pressure kept popping them off. To fix this, I added a center post and two lower posts. I also used Spyder’s method of using a heat gun to shape the lens on a mixing bowl which relieved some of the tension. In hindsight the inner screws nearest the nose could be eliminated.

  40. I’ve built both his trimmed and untrimmed kits. He does a great job trimming but having the flexibility to size some pieces exactly how you want them is worth the extra work. Bucket looks great! I have a fairly detailed account of how I trimmed the armour in my sandtrooper build. I can send a link if you can’t find it. Good luck with the build.

  41. Definitely saw this effect when I worked on the helmet for the first time. I do plan to lightly weather the armor so a little wear and tear is acceptable, but I will be revisiting some of the bigger blemishes for sure.

  42. One more step! A coat of filler primer is down: I think that covers the major armor work. Going to wait on sanding this until Chrome is ready. I've planned to go for Angel Gilding for the silvering stuff. I started a spread sheet months ago, but will revisit my notes. Very exciting to get here. I think until I'm ready to pull the trigger, I'll be working on the belt, gaskets, and see about attaching the lowers to start. If anyone can offer suggestions for how to attach all this stuff, it would be helpful, but I intend to stumble my way through it the best I can and will share progress. I'm not sure if there's a specific way to do anything. I haven't even really looked at anything yet so I don't know what to look for. I hear snaps are cool, but strategically added to prevent armor lift.

  45. Update: been slowly working on fixes have ran out of snaps so strapping for now is hard to do but still working on it. New S-trim came today and have installed it still have to work on the ears and shins but have decided to add EIB details to my armour and will be adding all the rivets snaps on the ab kidney plate and butt plate. 46. Oh, and this. Mannnnnnn. My forearms are beefier than is allowed in these gauntlets. I need to tone them to hopefully dial back some of my flesh. Dang it. I've also hit up KB Props for a future run and they quoted me for a pair of ABS gauntlets and an FOTK kit. They said they'd put me on the next run's list. Really I just want another set of gauntlets so I can check fitting, but I wouldn't mind an FOTK kit... ugh. We'll see. Gauntlets and glove looks great, feels great. But doesn't fit.
