I can't belive it! I'm DONE!!! Well, no not really, but all the armor parts and accessories are assembled. Still need to go over the checklist and CRL now, paint rivets, fix some things and find other things to fix. And of course get some photos submitted to the pre-approval forum, once I find someone to take them. Though I'll take a look at the requirements and submit any that highlight the armor without being worn. And then I need a blaster. And then?? I guess contact my local garrison and see what they have to say. Cool!!!2 points

Alright, here we go. We call our dog Ma Bookie, or Bookie for short. Lineage: In the extended cut of A New Hope, there is a scene where Han is confronted by Jaba the Hutt in a hanger bay, yep the scene where Boba Fett is standing to the side. In Huttanese, Jabba says "Han ma bookie" which translates to "Han my boy", hence Ma bookie, my boy or just Boy Consequently, now every time my wife or I see a Labradoodle ( our dogs breed) we call them all Bookies lol2 points

Request 501st status changes here. You must be an approved legion member with an official TKID to request higher forum access, or you can request TK higher access if you are an approved legion member with an approved TK version costume. NOTE: we (the site admins) will periodically check the list of people in this forums database against the list of 501st members as kept by the Legion COG. People will be added or dropped automatically, so it's a good idea to ensure that the email address you use for this board is the same you use in the Legion records. If you need your status adjusted in between database checks, please post here. UPDATE 05/04/2026 NOTE: You must include a link to your 501st record as per below, else your request will be ignored: With the recent legion website updates the link has changed. Please add both TKID and the User ID to your request, you can find this in the legion Holocron NEW INSTRUCTIONS There are 2 ways to find your membership profile: In the navigation bar post this link https://www.501st.com/member/85421/ and replace 85421 with your TKID then click enter OR Go to the Legion Forum https://www.501st.com/forum/index.php Then Holocron, (enter your legion forum username and password) https://www.501st.com/holocron/login?returnUrl=%2Fmember%2Flegacy MEMBER SEARCH on left side menu Enter your TKID (in this case 85421) CLICK MORE Copy the link in the navigation bar and paste into your request https://www.501st.com/member/85421/ (this will show your primary 501st costume) A.C. @NoVATie will then check the members costume list for TK costumes and update access accordingly **Please test your link when you post your request to make sure it goes to your legion profile page. We cannot use links for the Legion forum or Garrison pages.** Thanks to @gmrhodes13for pointing this out. Swapping your TKID into the link below no longer works http://501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=4733 Using the link below, replace 12345 with your TKID: https://www.501st.com/members/searchresults.php?searchfield=12345&criteria=tkid Paste that link with your status request post to have your FISD profile updated. Thanks to @revlimiter for pointing this out. 1. Go to https://www.501st.com/members/searchform.php 2. Input your TK number and "Search" 5. On the "Results" page click "More" to the right of your name 6. On this page that lists all of your costumes, copy the URL and paste it into this thread with your request.1 point

The right shin was a real pain, the cover strip kept separating when closing the back. After a lot of extra glue and extra setting time it's all good up front, with the rear strip now also attached. I've also trimmed and started the process to attach the sniper knee to the left shin. Front glued, sides tomorrow night. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk1 point

One of the nicknames I have for my eldest daughter is "Snips". From an early age she showed how similar to Asoka she was, and still is. Kids were offered 2 names for our BC: Rex or Ben. They chose the latter. He's generally more Ben Solo than Ben Kenobi though1 point

Hi Brendan, thank you for your Centurion application I have a few asks of you. The left/right side detail arms up photo is supposed to have you in it also, be sure to close the right side gap when reshooting that photo or paint the tab ´n slot piece black. Remove the sticker on the TD and submit a new photo. Lastly, it looks as your mic tips are black on the inside, please take a new photo to confirm they are white or paint and resubmit. Thanks1 point

I agree, the AP decals don't go pass the raised button, I like the look of the decals much better. I jumped the gun and removed them based on my EIB review. Oh well maybe I can get another set of decals.1 point

We've just launched the new Field Training Recognition program--Our newest PR Officer, Andrew Franke, has a section below about the program. Needless to say it's only been running a few days and is already seeing a buzz of involvement. Be sure to check out some of the fantastic trooper logs and start your own! Speaking of record setting, we're only 65 Expert Infantry troopers from completing the March to 1,000! And we have a new competition for Troopers helping Troopers. I hope you all had an amazing last few months of trooping. Many of you around the world did a ton of summer time troops and it doesn't get any better then that. I'm sure many of you get out and meet up with a bunch of other troopers from your garrison and that time spent together is full of laughter and friendship. I just wanted to reach out this month and remind everyone that September and October are huge months for new members to hit our forums because Halloween is right around the corner. Many people will start heading to their search engines and type in stormtrooper costume (naturally). We can only hope they find us first before some other websites like rubies, jedirobe or eBay. These new members will come to us with a ton of excitement but also some nervousness. Why nervous? Because we have heard it all before. There is just so much information here and it can be overwhelming. Well that is where each and every one of our awesome members come into to play. We all come to their aid and give them the most helpful information we can to put them at ease. This is what makes us such an awesome detachment. We are all here for our love of stormtroopers and we are troopers helping troopers! So I would just like to remind everyone that these new members coming to our forums are going to be yours or some other members future friends and garrison mates. Lets start their experience off right by being as welcoming as possible. After they are done here and they go back to their new garrison homes we want them to always talk about how awesome and helpful the FISD was in their journey. You guys all rock and keep up the good work. As always if there are any issues on our forum then please do not hesitate to reach out to Chris (themaninthesuitcase) or myself at anytime. With Unquestioned Loyalty Steve Sheades TK-10466 "starsaber25" Provost Marshall Deployment Officers Greetings Troopers! Your friendly D.O team has been pleased with the steady stream of EIB and Centurion applications. While I personally have and love the ANH Stunt kit, we've recently had several ESB and Hero submissions, as well as a couple FOTKs and TK Commanders. Keep them coming! We're getting ever closer to EIB #1000. Since it is now September, we'd also like to remind applicants that the CRL grace period for ANH Stunt, ANH Hero, ESB, and ROTJ is over and all submissions made after September 1 will be judged under the new CRLs. The CRL pages were updated a couple of months ago to reflect the new requirements, so hopefully there's nothing too surprising there. As always, please reach out to us with any questions. This section will allow future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your completed armor, weapons (if applicable), accessories, etc. and get accurate information from the experts here at the FISD.. the definitive home of TKs worldwide. Yep this one has been well overdue but we finally thank you for an outstanding contribution and generosity in sharing these with the Detachment. Please also join us in congratulating trooper96 (Bryan) for sharing his E-11 component files. Considering the E-11 is standard issue for OT TK's we are somewhat limited to choice or availability in various parts of the world. Bryan has done a great job to bring you a 3D printable file solution to make the humble E-11 accessible to members in a print at home format. Chris Feehan (TK-6744) was selected from the ECG, along with Taylor Arthur Goodson (TK-12110) and Terry "Bro" Browning (TK-8869) of the North-East Remnant Garrison. 5 First Order Stormtroopers were requested, and we were able to scramble 3 with only 1 day notice between the 2 Garrisons. The call time was 6:00am with the first taping scheduled for 8:00am, so we were all picked up around 4:30am. A secure changing room was provided with some snacks and water, and they treated us very well. The segments involved us marching out on stage when they announced the Galaxy's Edge segment, and during the Weather report taking selfies with audience members. We had fun participating, and taking photos with guests backstage in between segments. Special thanks to Greg Lee from the ECG for guiding us around, helping us get dressed, and taking some great backstage photos. A shout out to Alaric Hahn from the ECG for helping put this all together on very short notice. Report by: Chris Feehan TK-6744 Well done troopers Preview of the Rise of the Resistance Ride TK-10401 and TK-10441 Featured on CNN Headline News! We attended 4 days of DragonCon in Atlanta, and it was a completely incredible experience. If you've never been there, and you love cosplay, this is your home. I can't adequately explain the feeling of being among over 80,000 fellow nerds who all have appreciation for costuming. We bring both of our kids to the event, and they absolutely love it. People constantly stop them to take photos, and it makes them feel like rock stars. So. Much. Fun. I was fortunate enough to be approached by one of the Directors of DragonCon while I participated in an early-morning local CBS television shoot on Friday. He was looking for a cosplay family that would be willing to be interviewed- early Sunday morning in costume- for CNN's Headline News Weekend Express. After some discussion with my hubby, we decided to say yes. During the time that the Director transported us to the CNN studios at 7am Sunday morning, we found out that the segment would be live. Ah, no pressure at all, right? The segment was supposed to be about how families can cosplay together at DragonCon. It started off that way, but then it turned into me promoting the 501st Legion. I hope I did y'all justice! TK-27888 WHAT AN ARTIST The FISD Detachment is just only one of many units of The 501st Legion and we are proud to be part of it. The Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. Because Fire Teams are unofficial groups, they cannot have any 501st or FISD markings, including 501st Legion, 501st, Legion logos, Vader's Fist etc. on their branding or logos. However, Teams will be allowed to use any unique markings at informal events provided they follow these guidelines. Guidelines No 501st or FISD markings. Period. Any active Legion member with a valid stormtrooper costume in the specified geographic area can join. The Team can create a name, logo, backstory, etc. for itself (names usually contain Fire Team, though this isn't required). A list of each Team (with their specific "Teams Name") with a current list their members will be kept in the Fire Team sub-forum on the Detachment website. A Team member must troop at least twice per year to maintain status as a member. Two or more Team members must troop together once per year to keep the group active. Merchandising Again, no 501st or FISD markings. Merchandising will only be limited by the imagination of the Fire Team. Any merchandising should be submitted to the detachment, or through proper Legion channels. A master list of all Fire Team merchandise (with photos) will be posted in the Fire Team sub-forum. If any of these guidelines are violated, the group will be disbanded. Here is a link to the Fire Team area: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/130-fire-team-area/ 501st membership is needed to view this area. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forum. This area lists all those who have gone above and beyond basic approval toward screen accuracy. Request your free Centurion certificate here If you see any of these Troopers around your Garrison or Squad, be sure to congratulate them! As many of you are aware, the FISD is currently in our March to 1000 program. Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal and have just reached the 935 mark! The amount of approved submissions is increasing thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help. You can also contact myself "Pretzel" or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you! Greetings troopers! Pride coins should be shipping in a few weeks, and we still have a small amount of gold EIB coins for those who qualify. Don’t forget to head over to the racing shirt interest thread: These have been submitted to the Legion for approval and we hope to have these for sale as soon as we can. My son is Luke. Funny thing is, the wife clued in and didn't want a "star wars name" so the back-up for Luke was going to be "Benjamin". She also eventually clued into the Benjamin name when I suggested "Obiwan" as a middle name. She finally came around on "Luke" but still insists to this day that he is not named after Luke Skywalker. He totally is. "Leia" was right off the table for our daughter.1 point

Here are some Ab button plates using the AP decals provided in kit, if applied properly people will never guess they are decals and will last much longer than paint which easily scratches off.1 point

Hooray! BBB day arrived last week, super fast from Mark in Canada but I had to go out of town for work right afterward and really didn't get a chance to look at it until this weekend. I went with the untrimmed kit. I've been reading lots of other AP builds here, but feel I still have a lot to learn. Really appreciate all the great builds people have posted. Look forward to standing on the shoulders of giants as I dive into this. For any fellow Russian Ural sidecar drivers, the BBB fits nicely into the hack!: Lots to do! Daunting, but also exciting! I have lots of the tools I need already--plus a few more on the way. Does anyone have versatile rivet guns they really like that they care to recommend? I had a cheap one, but lost it in a move. Would like to get a good one I can get a lot of mileage out of. Still need to get some boots. I see TKBoots.com are no longer around, and ImperialBoots.com bills their boots as "narrow". I have super wide paddle feet, usually wear a EE width boot. Anyone with wide feet have experience finding comfy boots?1 point

So I submitted my application and emailed photos to my GML, and now I'm just waiting to hear back on what tweaks I need to make. A big Thank You to everyone that has given me advice and answered my questions along the way! I feel like I've hit a milestone and started reflecting on it over the weekend. I started wishing I could go back to visit myself back in October when I first started down this road and give some advice. Here are the things I'd say: This is going to take a lot longer than you think. All the steps are fairly simple, but every one of them will take longer than you imagine, and that all adds up. The cost of the actual kit is only the beginning. Prepare to hemorrhage cash for the next few months buying all sorts of tools and equipment. The first time you put this armor on, its going to be incredibly uncomfortable. Don't get discouraged, just focus on the problem areas one at a time and eventually it will feel much more comfortable. You'll even be able to walk up and down stairs eventually, I promise. Even after you get approved, you're still going to be making modifications for months (I can see that coming!), so be prepared to continue to devote time and money to the project. Don't buy black boots and paint them white. Buy white boots, even if you have to go up a size or two to get them wide enough for your fat feet. Dying/painting them is a pain, and the paint will scratch off too easily, meaning you're going to be doing upkeep every time you troop. Don't swap out the Anovos belt for Kittell's belt. I know, and I agree, the Anovos belt looks like crap, but that swapping out of the belt is going to be the worst part of the build. It's also the only part of the build that will draw blood. Save that for an "optimization" project down the road. As strange as it may sound, some of your friends really are going to laugh at you for doing this. Idiots. Don't buy that one-piece undersuit. How are you going to pee? Don't just blindly follow that one tutorial you found that looks like it is all encompassing. The tutorials are suggestions. Take some time early on in the build to look at other build threads or watch youtube videos. You'll get some good ideas from them. When it comes to doing the actual work like cutting and grinding and gluing, don't stress about it so much. I know, the kit cost a lot and you don't want to screw it up, but it really is true that most screw ups can be fixed. Scratches in the armor are inevitable. Just call it battle damage and move on. I'm sure there's more, but that will do for now. Thanks again to all who helped me make it to this point!1 point

The left shin's rear cover strip is glued on and drying. Next will be giving the shins a hot bath if needed and scuffing up the magnet surfaces and gluing them on under the cover strips. I need to reposition my bicep hooks, they aren't quite right and pull my biceps/forearms up too high on my arms. Easy enough to fix after another test fit. That will help me measure for the snaps/straps that I'll be using to connect the shoulder bells to biceps too. I did a test run for making the shin magnet covers since I don't have a spare magnet to sacrifice to the heat gun. Let me see if I can lay this out so it makes sense: - One of my 9mm sockets is just a bit larger in diameter than the 12mm magnet, which is perfect to let the magnet just drop in place in the ABS. - I drilled a 1/2" hole through one piece of wood, this piece serves as a guide for pushing the socket straight down and also helps press the ABS corners back flat after being warped by the heat gun. The thickness of this piece is less than the length of the socket. I was prepared to countersink the hole so that I could push far enough into the ABS for the magnet to sit flush, but the thickness is just right. The socket adapter bottoms out on the wood and the recess in the ABS is just right. - The second piece of wood is the base and I simply drilled a 1/2" diameter recess into it to push down into. And here's the first test piece that came from this crude setup. Perfect fit. I've since marked the wood base with alignment lines and each piece of ABS will get marked as well so that the magnets are as centered as possible when I press them. So I had planned to make a tab/slot connection for the right side kidney/ab connection, but playing with magnets sparked a crazy idea. With a buddy's help, we 3D printed some ABS bases, seen here with the N52 magnets already installed: The alignment when connected is perfect: The N52s have a crazy strong pull and I had to twist the bases to pull them apart, something that wouldn't be possible when they were glued to the armor, so I added thin ABS covers to them and that did the trick. They still have the super strong pull but they don't have to be twisted to pull apart. And installed: I intentionally left a 1mm gap between the ab and kidney just in case adding the belt causes some weird closure problems (didn't want to run into any weird issues I didn't account for), if everything is ok I'll just reposition two of the magnet bases on one side to close that gap. But these work exceptionally well with the existing straps and should those ever fail these will hold that connection closed very well.1 point
