Yeah, the rivets are hard (i.e. impossible) to find locally. I ordered an extra set from Justjoseph way back before I even received the kit from AP. I think Pyrates (Aaron?) will be selling them in Canada if you need more. I checked out some of the other Centurion pics regarding the gaps and overlap - yeah, I'm not as concerned as I once was. I'm still going to add the tab/slot connection on the right-hand side - I now have the material I need to do it - I just have to find the time2 points

Coming along and looking good. Yeah Mike TK 1636 is a great resource for lots of stuff. Making bra hooks, brackets and how to navigate through kits. He's been my greatest resource so far as the building goes. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk2 points

Hehe. Good to get some cutting practice on those plastic hand guards, but , don’t forget that you’ll need to upgrade to flexible hand guards (that Tony eluded to) for Centurion. :-)2 points

Cut off the front of the scope for drilling out the lens area. Went ahead and removed the molded on screws (drilled a pilot hole first) after drilling out the lens area. Will paint inside black.2 points

Adding the modified scope from Lee that will hold the BlastFX radar Cut off the end cap from the Doopy and removed some of the internal plastic. Will remove more later, this is just to rough in everything at this point.2 points

I found these washers for the buttons. I wish the inside was a little wider but they will do. So this is a lot of work you are looking to here. I hope it all turns out looking like I would like in the end.2 points

Great news! The 3d printed parts for my pack are in! Because the backpack is supposed to be strapless I'll need to support the weight. I attached suspenders to the snaps underneath and that will hook onto the ab. Hopefully that will prevent the back from sliding down and pushing the chest up, choking me.2 points

For anyone wondering what the various logos, bars, and titles to the left of posts is all about, this is the thread for you! User Ranks Found above the avatar, rank is determined either by post count or other criteria: Private: 0-24 posts Corporal: 25-49 posts Sergeant: 50-99 posts Lieutenant: 100-149 posts Captain: 150-199 posts Major: 250-499 posts Colonel: 500-999 posts Commander: 1000-1499 posts General: 1500-1999 posts Field Marshall: 2000-2999 posts Grand Moff: 3000+ posts Expert Infantry: Users who have received an EIB Award Centurion: Users who have been granted Centurion Status There are also special ranks given to Command Staff and Extended Staff, such as Detachment Leader, Deployment Officer, Combat Photographer, Hall of Fame Curator, etc. Achievement and Service Awards The FISD Achievement Award is granted for exemplary service to, or outstanding achievement for, FISD. Tradition holds that persons currently serving on staff cannot be granted Achievement Medals (or else it can become too self-serving). Thus, if you see a staff member with an Achievement Medal, they've all earned them prior to joining staff. To date only two people have ever earned a second medal, and no one has ever earned a third. Award Levels FISD Achievement Award (1st Award) FISD Achievement Award (2nd Award) ... FISD Achievement Award (6th Award) (and so on) The FISD Service Award is granted to recognize the contributions of Command Staff for their commitment to keeping the detachment running. Each award represents a full year of service. Additional awards are denoted by a star (1 Gold Star = 5 Silver Stars, 1 Silver Star = 5 Bronze Stars, etc.). A frame denotes fifteen years of service, with additional stars for further years. Award Levels FISD Service Award (1st Award) FISD Service Award (2nd Award) FISD Service Award (9th Award) FISD Service Award (10th Award) ... FISD Service Award (16th Award) (and so on) 3D Contributor Award This program, as with others, is an optional Detachment-only award incentive. It recognizes members who have gone above and beyond in contributing to our 3D forum section. The Silver award can be earned numerous times over the years. The Gold award is given to those that have contributed at such an astounding level that it is deemed appropriate. All awards are given at the discretion of Command Staff. Award Levels Silver 3D Contributor Award Gold 3D Contributor Award For more information please refer to this thread. Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award This award is bestowed to those who consistently exemplify the meaning of an Imperial Attaché and have gone above-and-beyond in helping their fellow troopers for at least one full year: For more information and a list of recipients please refer to this thread. FISD Master Armorer The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. Award Levels FISD Armorer (5+ "wins") FISD Senior Armorer (15+ "wins") FISD Master Armorer (25+ "wins") Centurion Badge These are awarded to those who have reached the highest levels of costume approval for FISD. These are awarded only once, to the person, regardless of costumes: Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) These are awarded per costume, thus a person can have more than one EIB award. Stars (like the awards above) indicate multiple awards, and appear above the EI badge (1 Blue Star = 5 Gold Stars, 1 Gold Star = 5 Silver Stars). Award Levels Expert Infantry Badge (1st Award) Expert Infantry Badge (2nd Award) Expert Infantry Badge (3rd Award) Expert Infantry Badge (4th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (5th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (6th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (7th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (8th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (9th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (10th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (11th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (12th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (13th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (14th Award) NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars For more information on the Expert Infantry and Centurion programs, please refer to this thread. EIB and Centurion requirements can be found in the corresponding costume CRLs (as Level 2 and 3), additional information on how to apply is available here for EIB and here for Centurion.2 points

While baby was catching some Zzz's last night, I trimmed my forearms' return edge. [emoji16] Getting to Centurion will take a bit longer, but my wife is encouraging me to achieve that level of detail. Motivation comes from anywhere, you know. Lol Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk1 point

Hey there Wayne, Keep in mind when you do go about your build, hopefully in the near future, that if something should go wrong, you can always recover using 'green stuff'. You will have it as it comes with Tino's Completion Set you purchased. It's putty that sticks to the resin and dries hard. For example, while drilling my scope, I did it quite frantically and blew a large hole on a side wall. With a little green stuff and medium then fine sandpaper, all fixed. That being said, it is always a little nerve racking when you set out on a task not familiar with; but the build community is here to lend a helping hand; just start a WIP - 'work in progress' thread so we can keep up with you. cheers,1 point

Thanks. That first was a pure fluke that I was up late doing it. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Now to move on to fitting and final trimming and sanding. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk1 point

Congrats on your new addition. When you say loosening do you mean the screw from the post? If so just put some lock tight on the screw end this should fix your problem and you will still be able to remove them if needed.1 point

edit: I am over the moon right now, but uhhhhhh..small request, my rank above my pic is Cenurion. Can someone correct it?1 point

Alright Tom, thanks for your patience. Thank you for your Centurion application. Let's get you approved. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required submission photos are present. Thank you for making the suggested improvements mentioned during your EIB application. Looking awesome Andrew and I are pleased to say your armor displays all the elements as set out in the Centurion CRL. Congratulations and welcome to Centurion Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: If we had any suggestions here it would maybe to weather your blaster a bit, it's too perfect . Beautiful work on your armor build Time to get out there and make the Empire and Vader proud.1 point

Yes you can. And don't worry too much about the colour. The ANH suits weren't matching either.1 point

Hi Elmar, As Mathias said, they are both nice in their own way, just boils down to personal preference. Just to ensure a fair comparison though; I'm pretty sure the RS picture that you have posted above was a fully painted lid (beautifully recreating a screen used lid) made of HPDE. The ones that they sell are still bumpy (as per the screen used lids) but would not look quite as 'used' as the one you've pictured and are made of white ABS or PVC. Perhaps check out a few of the RS Propmasters build threads on here for pics of production helmets. BTW, either way you're going to end up with an awesome set of armour!!! :-) Best wishes, Dan1 point
-
It's mostly about personal preference. Both are really nice. If you don't like the "warts 'n all" (which comes from being cast from an original suit that had the same "issues") look of RS, go with TM.1 point

Hi Jack, those lines are looking good, as Dan says, line them both up to double check before you cut. The line on the cap part where the brow trim goes looks spot on . Nice work mate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Unfortunately many promise and don't deliver and whether it be coincidence or not the timeframe to request a refund from paypal generally ends up being exceeded. It does derail threads but sometimes it needs too, if a prop maker won't answer pm's, emails and facebook messages there are no other options. Hopefully you will receive a refund soon, good luck.1 point

I can easily rotate it around when I get home. It seems to rotate pretty freely.1 point

Right I became Impatient waiting for the dremel battery to fully charge so had a little go with it ( first time using a dremel ) Surprisingly easy once got over the ‘oh god going to cut the lid in half’ You can see by the below pic I was very cautious....almost like bambi on ice!! Plucked up the courage and after referencing back to other people’s lids I changed heads and had another go After Stephens advice and getting a little diamond filing kit the teeth are coming on a treat. And here I came to the end of today’s work (that and I am just getting over the flu so hot/cold sweats are still happening) . With regards to the eyes how much more can I take it back? I’m terrified of ‘slipping’ and nicking into the lid. Oh and I decided to start on the lid...why? As once complete it will act as motivation and will sit proudly on my workbench whilst I build the armour. Now I am a perfectionist so may go a lot slower than the normal person but I aim for centurion from the off Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Beautiful job on your build Matthew, I can't see anything that would prevent you from achieving 501st basic. When submitting your photos to your GML provide the following.. Arms down: Front, Back, Left, Right, Front with helmet off. That's it and good luck, see you on the other side.1 point

Alrighty then! Here are a few pictures I have so far. This first one is most of the parts straight out of the box. It took about a week, but I have most of the parts rough trimmed as a start. 20171231_221140 by Chris Stewart, on Flickr 20180107_140614 by Chris Stewart, on Flickr rough assembly of the upper half. More to follow soon. Will keep this thread as updated as possible.1 point

FISD is pleased to announce the addition of a new area in the Advanced Tactics forum dedicated to those ready to submit for basic 501st TK approval. This section will allow future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your completed armor, weapons (if applicable), accessories, etc. and get accurate information from the experts here at the FISD.. the definitive home of TKs worldwide. For more information on this program, you can find the following: TK Pre-Approval Forum Area: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/193-request-tk-pre-approval/ TK Pre-Approval Overview: TK Pre-Approval Requests: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/193-request-tk-pre-approval/1 point

I did order a big pack of short cotton jewelry gloves so I’ve got plenty to use or share when I’m out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Looking good Frank. Good luck! Thin cotton gloves make life easier. You can get them in bulk packs for little money. As far as dressing goes, it is hard to get suited up on your own. Not impossible but hard. My process is almost identical to Brad's (who's given me loads of pointers and help). On a troop with the 501st there should be handlers. Part of their job is to help everyone suit up. Also, other costumed members are always willing to help. My garrison is full of really great, friendly and helpful people. These are the best that I have. The first I think is from Celebration, the second from the "walking through the water" scene that never was and final two are from the visual guide.1 point
