Hello fellow Troopers. The original post of How to use Magnets in your costume was affected by the recent stunt that Photobucket pulled and now the pictures and video are unavailable to use. TK4205 from Garrison Titan did a great job showing everyone how to get suited up with less hassle. It has helped me a great deal with my build and I figured that I would post another HOWTO with a video and pictures so that TK4205's method might help some one in the future as it did me. I used this method on the Abdomen and Posterior part of my armor but the concept can be applied to pretty much the whole suit if desired. Abdomen: Here is a video link to how the method works: [/url] I was able to get the Abdomen Section of my armor on in about 12 seconds without any help. My Plug and Sockets aren't as clean as TK4205's build, but if you are new to this hobby like me, hopefully you can get jest of how its done from the pictures below. Step 1: I ordered some Styrene Sheet from Amazon. In hindsight I wish I would have ordered Styrene that was a bit thicker but I used what I bought. Link below https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ICMZ7PQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Magnets: TK4205 suggested going Super Magnets at Home Depot so that is what I went with. If you don't have a Home Depot Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets should work as well. https://www.amazon.com/Super-Magnet-Neodymium-Permanent-Magnets/dp/B01LWPHF2E/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1500301280&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=neodymium+magnets&psc=1 I took one sheet of Styrene and cut some squares. I had to cut 4 squares and glued them together since my styrene sheet was so thin (hence the reason I wish I would have went with a thicker size). Then, I cut out a space the magnet to fit inside. After I knew the bottom magnet fit properly, I removed it in order to glue it to the armor. After that, I glued a magnet to the top side of the Styrene Sheet. Next, I marked the spots where I wanted to place the magnets on the back of the Abdomen. I put a dab of glue (E6000) on the Magnet and grabbed some tape I had laying around and tapped the magnet to the appropriate spot: I also used Magnets on the outside of the armor that I later removed to further secure the glue and magnets to the armor while the glue was curing. I let it cure for 24 hours: Step 2: Now that I had magnets attached to the armor, I place the styrene squares I had cut out on the back armor and traced where they would need to line up in order for the armor to close properly. Next I prepped the squares with tape, placed glue on the armor, placed squares on glue. I wanted to make sure the styrene sheets really got a good bond so I got some wood and weights to press it down further. Let cure for 24 hours: Done Put on armor and feel accomplished Attaching Posterior Get Webbing, Glue, Magnets. Glue the magnets to an 8" long piece of webbing. Let glue fully cure to webbing and magnet. Take the Posterior plate and measure the spots you want to place the magnets and mark them. Apply glue to magnets and posterior. Let Cure Attach webbing magnets to posterior magnets and lay on to the inside of your armor and tape the webbing down to the inside of your armor and test fit to make sure that the posterior hangs to just below the bottom of the back of the armor. Once you get it where you want it, trace around where the webbing needs to go and glue it down1 point

Is there anyway to make it so a PM or post shows us who the member is with the real names, like the legion boards do? I get so many messages asking about money and this and that and 99% of the time I have to know a name, not a forum name. IM going crazy having to bounce around and search out a forum post to find out who they are so I can go find out what they have and so on.1 point

Sounds good. I am not going to get my armor until sometime around the first week or two of October. So I really cannot do anything until then. Of course as a pack Builder, I have built 18 different versions of backpacks, I also want to build the Pack for the first order Stormtrooper on jakku. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk1 point

If you look closely, the calves are on the wrong legs and you can see it just below the ammo thigh pack. Looks as if the costume folks missed their morning coffee, lol.1 point

Hi Ted Had a root around and found the electronics. I was right about them being on the quiet side but you could probably fit a louder speaker. Blaster sound with red lights Stun sound with blue lights Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

So cool! I recently cancelled my TFA kit from Anovos and ordered the TLJ kit from Jim. I also started following your (or one of your) FB pages. I don't think I'll do an executioner as I want to see first the different types of troopers in TLJ. Just curious in you can further cut into those tube stripes/vents. I'm thinking of putting the fans there. In general, is it possible to cut holes in the helmet for more air flow?1 point

Thanks for the tips, Michael! Looking at the thighs and butt plate, I think the strapping is just a little too tight, so it should be easy to fix if it's an issue. I left a slight return edge on the tops and bottoms of the butt/kidney/back plates (around 1/4 inch), so they are able to butt together. I'm planning to submit for Centurion as well (everything was built with that in mind), so I'll just make a stop at the hardware store and swap out the TD screws. Thanks again!1 point

Cheers guys. It looks like approx 1mm across the whole surface so I'll just carefully work to remove the excess. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Here's how my end cap came in the mail - no modifications. I hope my use of shadow accentuates the curves on the piece for you. Have fun and hope this helps some [emoji6]1 point

That's exccess resin, mine came pre-sanded. Ideally youd offer it to something like a bent sander to remove that exccess but care with a dremel will do the same job. I don't have a great photo handy but you want to get rid of just the excess. When they molded it it looks like they just stuck that surface to a board to pour the mold so you can see the line where the mold stops, and the part starts.1 point

I use single snaps and have never had one let go on me. Have a word with Ross but I am pretty sure he only uses singles too and is very active in his armour.1 point

The red armor and cape would look great! You should get on the build and do it. If I had a second kit, I'd be interested in that too... With that said, I don't see why with that artwork and story in the new canon, this couldn't be approved. Per the linked rules above you do need the multi angle visual references, however, as noted in the 7/13 McQuarrie update, this would be a good case where that rule could be applied - the backside should initially be "obviously inferred" - due to the cape - as a normal fotk (not withstanding what the novel may describe - I haven't read it.). From the art he looks just plain ol' fotk in red, and a cape... And then, well if something further comes out in comics or he shows up in the movie, then update the CRL - remember we should be encouraging and inclusive to everyone and be common-sense flexible - without sacrificing quality and Legion integrity with all these new characters and canon that are coming on fast... Plus if Phasma is FISD, why would an equivalent character have to be Spec Ops? Good luck! Transmission relayed by my DROID...1 point

By "traitor" are you referring to Riot Control stormtroopers, e.g. FN-2199 (or more widely yet incorrectly known as "TR8R")? The way I see it, neither the Executioner nor the Riot Control stormtroopers are one-off "face characters" but specialists within the First Order Stormtroopers Corps. While they will certainly only be a small number seen at any given time compared to the overall force, there is nothing limiting to them being a one-at-a-time seen character. And yes, FN-2199's wrist boxes are missing. Most likely to allow for added mobility when executing those sick spins with the baton.1 point

I also have read "accompanied by two". "We have learned Captain Phasma appears with two executioners at times." https://makingstarwars.net/2017/03/accurate-captain-phasma-executioner-stormtroopers-kylo-ren-star-wars-the-last-jedi-character-sketches/1 point

I read in some marketing material - and I'll have to try and track it down - that Phasma is usually accompanied by two Executioners.1 point

Good eye, though it's a little too spherical. The 2nd half appears to be more rectangular, but you're match is pretty good for the other details.1 point

Took a quick break to enjoy Force Friday! Was at the midnight opening at my local Toys R Us. I was first in line and stoked to get my hands on that black series Commander Gree, only to find out they didn't have it [emoji24] But the next day I went to another one and they had just restocked! Got my Gree!! Hope you guys had a great Force Friday! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

They are not trimmed too much, in fact, they are not trimmed nearly enough. As Joseph remarked above, the "screen accurate" helmets were all over the map. But, with regard to the ear gap but the the ear disk is usually trimmed tighter... an 1/8" or just a little more. That change would make your ears fit much better. Try trimming just a tiny bit and see what you think. It takes a while to get it perfect. I put a lot of hours into mine before I was happy, about 30 on the helmet and the ears took three or four sessions at about 4 hours each. They got trimmed, bolted and re-bolted at least twenty times and even punched a few more holes to make them fit better. Paul (Troopermaster) gave me the tip he uses which is to trim the disk to a consistent height of about an 1/8" or so against a flat surface and then work the rest of it to make it fit. Mine got completely reshaped from my original cuts before I ended up with something I was happy about. I still feel they're too thick on the lower part and I'll probably go back in one day and reshape them again now that's I've done it a few times and am less nervous about it.1 point

How am I doing? Just going to raise the profile of the 4 clips and it's done.1 point

What would everyone say if I started a thread about the bible? I don't think it would be in the right interests for anyone here to listen to my bible based lifestyle or my political views. It has nothing to do with what this organization stands for or why we spend the time and money to participate in it. I love Star Wars plain and simple, that's why I joined!!! We shouldn't be bringing up subjects that have nothing to do with Star War, trooping of armor related topics.1 point
