  1. TK-92019 Reporting for duty. So proud to finaly reach this goal and be part of this awesome organization. Having a busy life, it has taken me 2,5 years working on my TK to get it finalized. The dream of joining is a lot older then that, so the road has been long. I am in the Outer Rim of Norway, and the foothold for the Empire here is fragile. In my city we are only 4, me included, to uphold the order in this region. Working hard to increase our numbers - in this part of the Nordic Garrison - the great city of Bergen. My wish TK ID was a risk - but i asked for 92019 becuase i had the Episode 9, 2019 premiere as my goal to finish. I made it with just a few days left, and the premiere being my first troop. We had great fun and my armor held up, didnt pinch too much and looked great. Photo of yours truly included. Btw: I have perfect aim!!

  2. It’s the rubber gaskets that are impossible to find. From what I understand you’ll need a mold to form them. The regular gaskets are easy to find. I got all my stuff from GeekyPink until rubber ones are available. But from what I’ve been told on here, rubber is still and hot. And you don’t particularly need rubber just to troop in. 3. Here is a link that has illustrations that outline the differences - these are a bit dated but give you the idea. There are a bunch of images there but this is the one that sums up the differences between ANH and ESB.

  4. Smaller shoulders are actually an advantage, Jonas. Those with large shoulders often have trouble getting the bells to sit close to the chest/back. The front looks to be in good shape (could actually ride out a bit more) so you should be just fine. Before gluing the strapping onto your bells, you should post up a pic of the front/back views showing the spacing.

  8. Not directly FOTK related, but I wanted to follow up on my mentioning folks were getting shipping notices for their Han TFA jackets with one guy on the RPF's review of his, now in hand (he's in Sweden and paid for the DHL express shipping). Even if you're not interested in it, personally, maybe check it out to see what is going out after all this time. As I said above, the main reason I've had such an interest in these notices going out and seeing what people end up getting is that the FOTK kit is currently still listed in the same shipping window. I'm not saying I'm expecting to get my notification this afternoon -- there are still a lot of orderers of this jacket who haven't gotten their notices yet -- but I'm crossing my fingers again that something will be in my inbox within the next couple weeks... As far as the lawsuit... No one has said anything even hinting at this, but I have a feeling about all the stuff going to Disney... Those who already knew about ANOVOS are a fairly small minority of the general public. While there's some increased exposure from their being at conventions, that's still fairly niche, even if it probably does put them on more people's radar. But a lot of people go to Disneyland and Disney World. A lot of people are likely going to Galaxy's Edge who like Star Wars, but have never been to a con, who have never done a Google search for "cosplay" or "high end Star Wars costuming" or anything like that, who maybe didn't know they absolutely needed a Luke Skywalker helmet or a set of Stormtrooper armor until seeing it was a thing in one of the Galaxy's Edge shops. I have a hunch, an instinct, so much of ANOVOS' recent stuff is going there in part to counterweight all the negative press with a number of people whose first experience with ANOVOS is a positive one. And also generate a new revenue stream to aid ANOVOS in pulling themselves out of the deep pit they dug themselves into without Disney having to potentially front the money themselves. I have more thoughts about the stonewalling and lack of transparency, but not right now...

  9. Haha. Yes, incredibly lucky. :-) Thanks, Tino. I’ll be looking over your thread again when it add my light weathering. Yours is still one of my favourite finished suits out there. Kudos. :-)

  10. If you want to discuss the series then start a thread here and lable it appropriately. And for browsing this thread, there is no indication that content of the series are beeing discussed here such as a "spoilers ahead" in the title, only a mention of "some of our own". Lastly, please mind the tone as no one should be at fault for staying on the legal side - thank you.

  11. Thanks! That is the best compliment I can get. The main reason I started FISD back in 2006 is because there was complete lack of transparency around armor in the 501st at the time, and it wasn't uncommon for new members to be led astray to bad recast armor, or only to find that once in the 501st people would tell them where to get the good stuff (by which point you had already plunked down $1500 on armor from eBay). Providing current and prospective members with accurate information so they can make informed choices has always been our mission, so I'm glad to hear we are still achieving that 14 years later

  13. No..I still troop in my armor despite offers from some out there to buy it for incredibly inflated offers... My suit is nearly 8 years old and is getting close to being retired...but not just yet..it's staying with me.. I joined the 501st to give back to the Community...the drive to do this came from losing my Mum to liver cancer at 62...none of us knew what this last minute gig was about until we showed up and started signing paperwork.. All the stunts in the show were NOT performed by 501st...that was all LFL...we were hired as background and to make up the numbers that the LFL R1 and Solo suits were missing.. We did run around, but were never in harms way.. I can discuss how we participated, but am holding off on specifics until others on these forums have seen the show...I am a native Australian (dual US and Aussie citizen) and I know over there, and in some other parts of the world...they are still rolling out...

  14. Welcome from Garrison Tyranus and Inferno Squad (i.e. Northern Virginia) territory! Here in NOVA we troop often and have a wide variety of trooping activities, and we encourage new members to gain experience as handlers before diving into their costume builds. We also host armor parties on a regular basis. We have 3 active FOTKs (out of 6 total in the garrison) here in NOVA, along with a ton of OT stormtroopers. Please be sure to sign up for an account on our forums. http://www.garrisontyranus.com For more real time interaction, join our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1014990031897377/

  16. The best thing from this is how nice everyone was from the bottom to the top. Jon Favreau hit the nail on the head at the Mandalorian panel when he said he didn't know we knew nothing about why we were there and that we worked so hard. The first morning they jumped immediately into filming and most of us had no clue what to do and the crew seemed a little surprised. I think that it was Dave Filoni that told everyone we were 501st not extras then the crew realized we needed a little more direction than normal. From that point on I think our group nailed it and that we knew how to hold a blaster and move like a stormtrooper should as Jon said. The union extras kept having to be told by the crew to hold their blasters like the 501st. Towards the end of the first day we were doing some pretty involved work and one of the production assistants started to get a little frustrated with us since we were not catching her cues. Myself and a few other 501st said, "we have fans running and we can't hear you". She was surprised and asked, "what fans?", so we explained we had bucket fans so we can see. So from there she used hand signals for us and away we went. In the end I think we were in armor for well over 12 hours at a time, to the union extras it was just another paying job and no big deal to us it was a once in a lifetime experience. And yes, some of us now know how to use the restroom in full armor without making a mess.

  17. I think that the flashing that still needs to be removed is messing with my perception of correct button size for teh small button plate. I drew a circle (1/2"? Can't remember right now) using a template to ensure that size and alignment was good. I also found spinning the plate as you're painting helps keep things smooth and steady as you're approaching the edge.
