Yes, we make a certain amount of sport of those with kits like this, but let's face it, not everyone can afford to spend $1000 + dollars on TK armor/accessories but still want to live the dream we all had of being a Stormtrooper. I bought my first kit from ebay to use as a Halloween costume. Did I make mistakes on my build? Good GOD yes! When I got it done I thought I was the coolest cat alive, but being an accuracy nut I did some research, found out about the 501st/FISD and it opened up a whole new world I never knew existed. I have seen many folks with ebay type kits while trooping (especially at SW movie premiers). I always hand them one of my trading cards and tell them a bit about the 501st in case they want more information. Some people are happy-as-clams to wear non "approved" armor and just want to get out, have fun, (I say more power to them) and don't care about being approved, then there are the rest of us, lol. To put it another way, what if a person with wonky looking armor decides to check out the FISD in hopes of joining and sees their photo(s) posted with deriding comments. Ouch. Just something to think about....

And people wonder why we get elitist shamed. It's cause of this. Nothing good comes from these threads. Every person in those photos is a fan of Star Wars. Just like you.

Hey all! Got an early Christmas present in the form of a receipt for an ANH stunt kit from Paul over at TM! This is my first kit and I'm BEYOND excited to get to join the ranks of the 501st as well as make some great memories for myself and others. I do have some trepidations, however. In a nutshell, I fit the height for the kits at around 5'10", but am way on the skinny side, especially in the waist at 30". I've seen talk of people padding armor, and others bending it w/ a heat gun. What would you folks reccommend for someone in my position? If you're in the same boat as me, what did you/are you doing to offset it? Thanks in advance!

Good to know, I didn't think so. I just know this hobby is a never ending quest to try and find accurate solutions and I thought this experiment could help the community in the future. I had everything on hand except Option 2 and Option 3. Small price to pay if it helps someone out down the road. -Dana

008 — [Dec 21 2019] Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - Sherwood Park, AB I finally got my troop fix for the month. Three days in a row, with 4 troops total for the movie premiere.

23) 12-19-19 --- Millersburg, Pa., Rise of Skywalker Twin Valley Colonnade (1st of two Episode IX Troops this weekend...) The theater treated us like royalty and started us off with our own private screening, after which we suited up to greet attendees for the first public showings.

Welcome, Joshua. and great to see that you are going to get some help! If I could suggest a few things, they would be as follows: 1. Set up an imgur account (imgur.com). It's a free photo editing/hosting site which will come in VERY handy. Click here for help on that. 2. Make sure you have all your build supplies in hand and ready. 2. Start a build thread here once you begin. This will serve a few purposes... It will allow you to ask as many questions as you like (no matter how small) all in one place, and you can post lots of photos of your progress, as well as pics of any issues you may have. We LOVE photos, and they really do speak a thousand words. 3. Take... your... time. I'm sure you want to get approved and get out there and troop, but rushing a build usually leads to errors. Consider this a marathon and not a sprint. 4. Look over build threads. There are a ton of fantastic ones here, so take some time to check out what others have done, as well as learn from them. Tony has an incredible one here. 5. Measure twice (or 3-4 times), cut once. 6. If in any doubt, ask here on the FISD before cutting or gluing anything together. I cannot stress this enough. I have a few tutorials below my avatar which may help, especially this one. Best of luck on your white armor journey, and know that we are here to help every step of the way!

Wow! I put my armor build on hold for almost 2 years. Time flies and life certainly puts gets in the way sometimes, but it feels really good to be back. Quick... let's make some progress before I disappear again! So I jumped back in by starting my Thermal Detonator. I measured the Anovos tube, planned a cut that would give me the proper length with the caps on (I'm shooing for 7.25" overall length when assembled). I taped of the tube so I could sand down the ends to help get the caps on easier. See below: And here's a closeup of one of the ends where you can also tell that the edges have been rounded significantly: I also recently ordered and received some TD clips from @ukswrath which are beautifully made. Thanks a bunch for these! I thought I'd share a photo of an original Anovos clip (left) next to one of ukswrath's clips (right) so that you can appreciate the differences in accuracy. I've also finished trimming and sanding all of the TD plastic parts. I did a bit of hot water bath work to also stretch the caps (in addition to my sanding the tube). I've prepped the tube for paint and my next post will be about the particular gray color I'm going to use. I'm doing a bit of extra work (me as usual) to try and see what other paint options there are that come in a spray paint can and come close to the Humbrol 5 color that is said to be accurate. I'll be showing photos of 4 options compared to the Humbrol itself and picking one for my tube. So if you're interested in that topic, stay tuned. Thanks for having me back , -Dana

As Justin said, we will tell you all we can which should be pretty much everything after the final episode as far as costuming goes. I would just like to add that we should not discuss any of the story or plot points since this has not been released in all markets and I would hate to ruin the story for our international brothers and sisters.
