  1. Well, I also really need to thank everyone who helped me, I couldn't do this on my own and this forum has been a real blessing for me! I would like to thank you, Joseph for all your help and tips, but also those sweet handguards! I would also like to thank Dave @Helotech for helping starting this build and showing how he did his. He also sent me some of his spare parts! Thank yous to both Glen @gmrhodes13 and Mario @TKSpartan for all their help as well showing how it's done! And last, but not least, Daniel @TheSwede for sending me some parts and approving my build! If I missed someone, do know you have my gratitude. Now a review of the build. I curse myself for not researching before buying this armour, but it worked out in the end. There where many ups and downs in how it went and I do not think this build was made easier being a re-build. I often wished I had just ordered a kit, it would have made this whole thing much easier (and I think cheaper too). However despite all this, it worked out in the end and I can call myself an Imperial Stormtrooper! Typical this virus thing happened now, so my first troop will probably be in a while. EI coming soon!

  2. This is my first build. A heck of a lot more work than I ever expected, but now that I’ve learned all these skills.. and have lots of tools and extra supplies.. I wouldn’t mind doing another one. It’s completely overwhelming yet oddly satisfying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. The ring looks good. [emoji1303] You could repair that with green stuff, if you wanted to. That stuff is really easy to work with. :-)

  4. Thank you so much. Excellent info and very helpful with guidelines for visual reference. My intention is to try to be in the first 1000 EIB, lol. Ultimate goal would be Centurian . Thanks again for all!!

  5. Tried to put on the D-ring today, drilled with a dremel, bent the ring open and when trying to force it into the holes, broke the holes. Fortunatly found all the pieces and glued them back on with E6000. Will probably paint tomorrow.

  9. Hi all. Matthew from Florida (USA) here. Been a fan of Star Wars since first release; I was 19 and watched it 20 times in theater in 1977 (yea long time nerd). My son and I are starting a mandalorian incinerator build, which is how we discovered this organization. It looks like there is no CRL for this variant and I a quick search doesn’t show any in the works. Questions: If there is nothing in the works which forum should I start my build project in? Incinerator Trooper Forum Rogue One forum (since mando incinerator armor is clearly Rogue One) Thanks!!

  11. Those plastic bolts have sure come in handy. I'm really enjoying your progress, so wish I could build one of these badboys myself.

  12. Hi Thomas, welcome to FISD. I would like to recommend you the following Forum Thread, It would be so useful for this challenging part of your project. Be sure to post some photos of your build to receive some feedback before trimming or gluing. This one would help also. Hope this can help. Cheers

  13. Hi, welcome to FISD. You're right, there's no CRL for the Mandalorian's series Flame Trooper yet. As I have read in this forum the rogue one armor is a good starting point. Keep on posting your advances and I'm pretty sure you are going to be receiving some feedback soon from our so experienced fellow troopers here. Again, Welcome and good luck with your project. Cheers

  14. Got a few more items done today. Sanded up the exterior of the shield parts and began filling them with the XTC-3D like I did with the triangle trim pieces. This will give them some strength and will allow me to recess the bolts that I will be using for mounting them on the shield. I used my small Dremel and cut out enough of the internal honeycomb support structure to recess the bolt, then mixed up the XTC-3D and filled up the interior until it met where the bolt head will sit. On my next pass I will insert the bolt and add the XTC-3D to secure them. The ABS part is to help hold the bolt up straight when curing. While those cure, I worked on securing the holster I got from Dan. Also attached the resin strips to the forearms. And last but not least, I was able to mount the ab boxes. I used the same procedure that others did by using bolts that were glued to the box and mount through a hole drilled into the armor. Seems like a very secure and tight fit. That’s all for now. I spoke to KB a little and it may be a week or a few weeks before I get my hands on the chest/back and shins. Also waiting to hear from 3D-Props regarding my weaponry. He’s been a little hard to get in touch with, but he finally wrote today saying he’ll get me an ETA later today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. Isn't this the truth, spent so much time polishing my TB just to throw a bunch of black spray paint on it to weather it lol.

  17. Hi, It looks good but think you may want to correct the angles a bit: Hope this can help.

  18. What I would do is to start assembling the helmet to see how things are going , them I could decide where more trimming is needed. Try placing cap and face together and let's see how it looks.

  21. Fantastic job on this armor, Daniel, and I see no issues that should hold you back from Basic approval. With a few tweaks I can definitely see this headed for Expert Infantry level if you choose to do so! AWESOME job on the cover strip alignment, as well as the bicep/forearm and thigh gaps! No a huge issue by any means, but if you feel up to it and want to go the extra mile I would suggest re-positioning your right ear if feasible. Ideally, the center of the top of the ear sits directly below the rear angle of the trap, and the screws line up with that line as well (just as you have on the left side). The brow trim should also end at that line. Not a biggie, but just food for thought... NICE! Reference image Again, if you have the time, some white paint could be added to the inside and rims of the Hovi-tips for a closer screen accurate look. Reference image Bets of luck with your submission, and let us know when you get approved!

  24. I believe that's because the visor in game reflects light ALOT. Id say Dark Blue, Dark Grey, or Black could be used. We ended us going with Black for this one.

  25. Testors 1138 is a close match to the Humbrol gray used on screen, it’s what many of us here in the States use.

  26. Ah! Makes sense! Thanks for your insight T-Jay! I decided to get matte black enamel spray paint from Tensors and i'll just use that for the interior of the helmet.

  27. Not a lot happening this past... month? Jeez, where does the time go... Between chemo, COVID, and just a particularly rainy last few weekends, things have been moving slowly, but I try to put time in each day into some aspect of the suit. Many of my updates either don't photograph well, or I just forget to take photos in my fervor. Apologies! Also, the convention (WonderCon) that I wanted to debut this suit at ended up being postponed/cancelled, so... oh well... Hopefully Celebration still? Anyways, I went back and filled any pinholes that materialized from my last round of primer (particularly around the edges of panels), then resprayed primer on top. Most of the main body panels are now FULLY prepared for final paint - the insides are reinforced with resin and sprayed flat white with all noticeable pinholes filled, and the outsides have been primered and wet-block-sanded to 1000 grit to level any dust nibs, small insects (ha), etc. that would prevent a (hopefully) excellent final spray of gloss white once the rain stops (this weekend?). I also was able to finally psych myself up, bite the bullet, and trim several of the panels. I'm about 6ft, 160lbs, so on the slightly tall and slightly slim side - I got Jim's regular height kit, (not the Tall version) and ended up taking 1" off the top of the cod, 1" off the top of the barrel and added the underarm cutouts, and 3" or so off the black side connectors. This kit really would fit a pretty big range of people! Arms and legs are also still in their first coat of primer and will probably get their second soon. I know it's not exciting, but I can't tell you how much time I've spent in paint prep on this suit, sanding and priming - really hoping it pays off! (I totally should have paid someone to do it, but I guess I get the pride of knowing it was my work when all is said and done!). Attempted my first round of glossy white on my first (easy) panel, but got a weird paint reaction already. Unsure what caused it, but I'll sand it out with like 1500 and try again. Everything will likely get at least two coats anyways. My rear zipper closure, ultra thin velcro, and flexible shoulder straps also all arrived, here's some photos IRL! Doing more sanding and priming, spraying final gloss on some panels, and figuring out strapping/test fitting things in the next go around! Belt assembly soon and also gonna try to get my HWT submitted for EIB. On the health front, had my (hopefully) LAST chemo infusion last week and am nearly fully recovered from it. The hospital keeps trying to push out my next PET scan, but my doctor and I have been pushing back to get me in next week - the scan will let me know where I stand, and where to go from here (even if I delay radiation while the world settles down). Fingers continue to be crossed for good results!

  28. If you are on facebook, Walt also has a build video on his TK helmet. Just keep in mind the armor is a "one size fits all" so there is almost always trimming (scary to trim as you are worried about taking too much off). Put the helmet together with blue painters tape (or gaff tape or whatever) and send me a pic to look at.

  29. One thing I would definitely do is remove all the return edge from the bottoms of the calves, This will give you a bit more room and hopefully loosen up the rear connection a bit. Leaving them on will also scratch the bejeezus out of your boot tops. Reference image

  30. Yes, basic should be easily achievable, I’m sure. The other points are just things to do if you fancy a challenge/project later down the line. :-)

  31. I guess for this build it's just putting on the d-ring, I will probably get a better one some other time. This blaster is just for basic clearance.

  32. Additionally to the things that Dan already pointed out, there is one mistake on this blaster: the magazine is inserted the wrong way. Here is how it should be installed:

  33. Cool. I’d check out a few SDS blaster builds here on FISD and see if others have documented this modification. They may have found a simple option for making this change. Personally, I’d be tempted to drill approximately as shown below. The d ring might be a little tweaking and encouragement to get in there. ;-)
