The paint on the vocoder ridges should go all the way to the top of the ridge. Easy fix!2 points

Regarding the black/brown debate. I don't know much about this strapping but having worked a lot with photography, I can say it is very hard to determine dark colours. Black - and near black - are the hardest to determine IMO. Various materials will catch light differently and because of the very non-reflective nature of black (hence... black) the interaction of the material with various light sources can greatly alter how we (or the camera) perceive said black. That combined with the fact that some black material does fade to a brown colour with use (sweat and sun are awful) also doesn't help. So, unless these straps can be observed in person, I would say that black is our best bet right now - with brown being possible but less probable. My two cents.1 point

Hi Jimmy and welcome to the FISD! Take some time to read through the links provided above and ask questions. We are here to help. The whole thing can seem a bit daunting at first, but it will make sense eventually.1 point

This isn't a screen-used costume, but Paul's replica. The thing is, the elastic used on the shoulder for the screen-used costume has a very peculiar width, weave, and color. The three combined makes it extremely difficult to source and I know Paul couln't find one that was perfectly ticking all the boxes. He settle to the next best thing that was black instead of brown. Now maybe the elastic for the stormtrooper is black indeed but the one for the shoretrooper is dead brown, and I'm don't see why they would bother using two different types of elastic for similar strapping purpose. Also I just can't understand how you can so confidently assess that the elastic on the R1TK reference picture you posted is black? You have two very strong references of items we know are black (necktrim, and undersuit) that determine the black levels on the picture. The elastic doesn't appear anywhere that range. Seems hardly black to me. Also, ABS is a type of plastic, yet are the armours made of ABS? No. So using the general term of "plastic" doesn't cut it for me. You might not be wrong but the term is so broad that it doesn't really mean anything.1 point

I think the wire thing is for use with DLT-19, I haven't seen people do that with a E-11. Looks ok as is.1 point

Lore-wise, yes, this version of Stromtrooper is canon, but here in 501st we are heavily focus on making our costume true to the visual materials available. You will have to be that particular version Stormtrooper to wear / carry that particular set of add-ons. As Paul and others have indicated, if you want to wear it to official events you will have to make the effort to create a new CRL based on your research and supported visual references to make the set accurate enough to clear Detachment staff and LMO. For non-offical events always consult your GML first to see if the Garrison permits it. From the visuals of the Fallen Jedi it seems there will be some work to create one. By the look of it the version of trooper featured is a cross between ESB and ROTJ, it will not be a simple add-ons and additional texts to create a new CRL, a new build is called for I am afraid.1 point

The new modernized version of the helmet is done, and I'm in love with the finished result! Time to get this printed https://imgur.com/a/Lzw7XJ91 point

Well that was quick! Congratulations! Way to go on getting Centurion! The HWT corp has a great # of Centurion. Now we have one more!1 point

Congratulations trooper for achieving Centurion, good work!1 point

Hey everyone! Samll update. We have pretty much everything we need for cert 3! Our local hobbyshop happened to have the correct Humbrol paints too. And we also got lots of canvas for the belt. In even bigger news my dad is now also getting his own armour, which we will be ordering soon! Looks like 2 new troopers will be joining the ranks instead of one. He will also be going for cert 3! Is it possible to make the hand plates out of EVA Foam?1 point

only if you are making a fallen order or mandalorian tk. canon is only canon for the specific source and costume. just build your shiny white anh stunt tk to centurion out of the gate: you wont need that other crap :-) or, build a heavy, and you can have all the accessories your back can bear. i own a garrison pauldron, for special troops, and have made parade pauldrons for st. pattys parade, pride, xmas. but otherwise i like to look like the costume appeared on screen. ive never understood accessorizing with other costumes' bits. want pouches and a bfg? theres a costume with those somewhere.1 point

Have you thought of removing some of the return edges, you have a bit there, you could also add a slightly bigger cover strip on the back.1 point

and remember that the buckle slide inside the original small pouch to hide it properly...1 point

So I have to take a moment and say something very important about 501st and FISD. Last year on the 4th of February I was accepted in the 501st and FISD. I didn't know what to think or how this was going to go. Was just happy to have a Stormtrooper outfit. Centurion was something I thought would be near impossible. Well, I kinda set myself a goal to get one. And maybe think about the ones that I want, which were Stunt, Hero and HWT. I can't believe the timing. So I wanted to take the time here in this approval to post how special and important it is to me. All of the help and guidance from EVERYONE in the FISD has been beyond my expectations and I am proud to be a part of all of you and look up to your guidance. Thank you everyone for all of the help and encouragement. Ardeshir1 point

WOW thank you Daniel. What an honor. Thank you beyond words. All of your notes and guidance and help is beyond appreciated. Thank you for the honor. Ardeshir1 point

Sorry was not arguing just giving the information as to what was required for inclusion into the CRL's. Basically screen references need to be seen, but YES I have seen a sling used, NOT a holster which was originally the question of this thread1 point

Forearm Rail: As previously noted, I wasn't happy with the included resin rail. Modeled a replacement and 3D printed. I don't feel PLA is a resilient material for trooping so I molded this and will be casting using semi-rigid resin. I included the original kit rail for comparison.1 point

Made my belt with removable dropboxes, and the holes are not easy to see with my pouches on but due to my back armor. I personally don't like it to much and covering it up til I loose enough weight where the back looks good.1 point

First off, nice work, looking good, just a couple of tweaks you could address. Notice your left shoulder is sitting up more than the right, is should also sit over the bicep, not quite correct on the right either, just compare to the CRL image below, you may need to shorten those straps. Also the forearms need to rotate inwards, the cover strips should line up on the biceps and forearms. You have one drop box being pushed backwards. Slightly different gap at the top of the thighs, rotate the right thigh inwards. Left shoulder strap on rear sitting under back plate, could be the issue with your shoulder sitting up high Everything else looks pretty good to me, trying to get the correct look while wearing the costume is hard and does help if you have someone on had that knows the costume. A couple of tweaks and you should be ok, good luck with approval.1 point

Thanks for that! I was just confused! I'll be updating the pictures in a little bit! Just got done taking them!1 point

As many have said, it just depends on the garrison. Like others, mine is that for formal events it's canon only, but for others you can break out the fun. Cons are an excellent example where people just go nuts at times. As for those book references, if you ever want them to be official you'd have to create the costume and help get the CRL done. It's certainly possible and we have several that are from games, etc. (e.g. Battlefront). In the end though, if it's just various add-ons but the armor is the same, that you'll likely find is that there is a single base URL with "options" for various looks.1 point

I recently started my ANH Stunt TK build and then discovered the Heavy Weapons Trooper (HWT) from the Battlefront games (EU). They are sorta a combo of a normal stormtrooper and sandtrooper, and get to wear orange pauldrons! You may consider something like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Firstly it depends on your garrison/squad/outpost requirements, some do not allow non canon accessories at events so you will have to check with local command. But other garrison/squad/outposts do allow them, for canon troops you can only use those accessories listed in the CRL's for non cannon troops they can be used. Personally I like to match the accessories to the version of Stormtrooper I am portraying, but it's a personal choice (with command blessings of course)1 point

Hello everybody In case the video does not play, here is the text: Almost 2 years after building the first E-11, it is now time to bring a new one to the next level. The FISD members were always helpful and encouraging. Last time, this turned the build and documentation into real fun. For the same reasons, this new build will be shared here soon. The plan is to combine a resin kit with many upgrade parts and to integrate a lot of the modifications, as shown in the FISD E-11 Blaster Reference.
