Thank you for all the feedback, I feel like my shins and thighs sit nice on me they don't clip with the cod or butt plate and my shins don't touch expect the sniper knee which I have pushed out and planning to add some foam/sponge to the back of my thighs so it stops it coming under the thigh. it also does not bite me much when moving so I can walk for hours.2 points

Thought I’d share some info regarding a cool weapon that was created for TROS. This 'stun baton' was codenamed the SUGAR CUBE BATON. This deadly looking dumbbell was constructed of cast plastic and resin, with wooden and metal components. When closed it measured 10in L x 2.5in W. When deployed it was 14.25in L. Who knows, perhaps we'll see it in the deleted scenes of extended version if it ever gets released. In the meantime I know there are plans to create a 3D print of the baton. I'm a newly approved Tie pilot at 501st Danish Garrison. First troop coming this weekend. Just browsing here, to find inspiration for electronics and so on, until I get a TK armor. (Yes, I can't help it - I NEED it in my life.)1 point

1. That is really up to firstly your GML (garrison membership liaison) for the basic approval then it's up to the DO's (deployment officers) for L2 and L3 approval, HWT's normally have a small amount of weathering so they will need to decide what is maximum allowable. 2. Remnant trooper, do you mean from The Mandalorian? If so that is a different version of Stormtrooper based of Rogue One armor and your armor is based of ANH (although some additional background troopers did use ANH armor for the show). As to new costumes without a CRL here is some info: New to the Legion Costumes (NTTL) Whenever you begin work on a “New to the Legion” costume, it is always best to connect with the Legion Membership Officer and relevant Detachment before proceeding. It is recommended that a “New to the Legion” costume is not kept a secret. One of the best ways to receive feedback on a “New to the Legion” costume is to make an account with the relevant detachment forum, and solicit feedback from the membership base. An ongoing and regularly updated info-page, New to the Legion Costumes in Progress is kept, listing out costumes with links to their designated Detachments. Effective January 2016, the 501st Legion requires that all “New to the Legion” costumes must have a CRL before being approved in the database. A “New to the Legion Costume” is a costume that has no CRL. Below are the steps for a “New to the Legion” costume and how it is added to the membership database. Contact [email protected] and ensure the costume is applicable for inclusion into the 501st Legion. Please provide the following information: Name (and TKID if applicable ) Name of costume Media this character (in this exact costume) is seen in Links to reference If contact with a detachment has already been made, and links to any WIPs The GML and/or costumer will be guided to the appropriate Detachment where CRL development will then occur. Once CRL development is complete, the costume will be entered into the Membership database, announced, and then the costume may be approved on current and prospective members. Notes to Keep in Mind Typically as much time will be spent researching and looking at reference sources as it will take to make / assemble the costume. Ideally, there are clear full body pictures of the front, side, and back. When in doubt, email and ask [email protected], providing all reference for the character in question. Understand that a CRL undergoes many revisions by many people before publishing and that it is possible that there are multiple people working on the same costume at the same time. There are no guidelines on creating a new costume aside from reference material, and a costumer may be asked to change things multiple times. Understand that a CRL is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather it is a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Detailed instructions, designs, and specific measurements are to be recorded within the detachment forum’s WIP documentation. The costume will not be approved in the Membership Database until all of the steps to create the CRL are completed. The wait period from completion of costume to approval can be lengthy. Pictures of the costume being worn, as well as costume parts may be requested. The first completed costume is not always the CRL model. Sometimes multiple applicants images are used to complete a CRL. Images should be captured against a simple, contrasting background, at high resolution, with good lighting. The Detachment and/or LMO may ask for assistance in writing the text of the CRL, but this is not always the case. Before any CRL goes live, it will be reviewed, edited, and approved by the LMO Team. Once approved, the new costume will be added to the membership database, and the CRL published on the wiki (Databank).1 point

That's up to you. I designed these to flex a LOT and contour to the gloves more than the regular latex type.. this way the sides don't pop up. Just make sure you don't add any E-6000 past the cloth part on the underside.1 point

Just returned from a third viewing and there's lots of fun stuff to be caught when watching the FOTK scenes very closely. There's a scene on Kijimi that is reversed, so the calf greeblies appear on the right leg. There are bendy cod pieces all over the place, a cracking thigh split as Poe et al escape the Star Destroyer, and then there is the case of the shortening TD end cap. As you can seen from the pic below the trooper on screen right has the standard width black end cap (approx. 1in/25mm), whereas trooper left as a much shorter end cap. It's all black so isn't a TFA TD. Given the TD cylinder is an insert it looks like they were prone to getting pushed further in to the holder. I spotted this issue a few times and it can also be seen in the 'Jedi Mind Trick' scene. Can't wait until late Match/early April for the 4K Ultra version. Looks excellent. Aiming high is definitely the way to go. I made that mistake of just aiming for basic and having to redo things that would've been easier from the get go. Keep up the great work!1 point

Okay maybe I should have posted a picture of what I was asking earlier. Just to confirm, is overlaps on both sides accepted, or is it only on the inside.1 point

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the belt height when he's wearing the armor and work on the height at the front. Have been painting boots tonight. I think the tabs on the back will get cut off.1 point

The ‘tab’ you have is your inner shin/calf area for the velcro. There doesn’t seem to be much room on the outer side to do very much of an overlap. Check your clip greeblie to make sure you have enough room to apply it. The indentions as-is are almost the same size as the clip greeblie. I believe from the research I’ve done on these that the outer seam is meant to be fitted as a butt seam with a strip inside to glue each piece to. The other thing I’ve found is that if you use the formed trim lines, it seems that once you put the shin and calf together the spat doesn’t go around them. I wanted to leave the top part where it was and trim around the ankle to help the spat fit, but I have yet to have time to play with it all. The spat needs almost all of its return edge removed. If anyone else had better information or some tips, please chime in. Sent from my iPhone using The Force1 point

Cool, yeah I only thought overlap could be used for the inside of the shin, I didn't know it could be for the outside of the shin as well1 point

I drew that back in ‘15. But I believe I threw the M19 scope on there. That’s the scope used in ESB I believe. The M40 and M38’s were used for ANH. feel free to correct me since it’s been 5 years since I did the research on those.1 point

As for the mic nothing comes to mind thread wise but Lorelei has perfect search advice. I'm just using a the mic with a rigid boom I got on Amazon that came with my PA speaker. That cord runs down the inside of my neck seal out the top of my shirt behind the armor so it's not seen and under the backside of my chest plate where I have one of those chest high radio holders. The cord goes into my TKTalkie (think home built versatile iComm) and then the PA speaker. There's also a small power supply to run the TKTalkie. I second the balaclava idea. Definitely helps keep everything attached to your head when you slide your bucket on. http://www.tktalkie.com/1 point

Thanks to this thread, I've started amassing all the tools, supplies, etc. This was today's haul. Twelve magnets have been ordered, too. Dremel, mineral spirits, hammer, vise grips, etc. are all things I fortunately already own. Note the 1/4" wide white elastic--aiming for Centurion already! It sounds like the AP kit comes with snaps, rivets, and screws, so I am holding off on those to see what I end up with on BBB Day. Off to a good start!1 point

HEY GUYS!! alright so im about to pull the trigger on a RS Prop Masters ABS storm trooper kit..... now.. i really wanted to go with a sand trooper but jus thinking about having to dirty up and paint my armor scared me.. then I realized a few of the pieces such as the knee plate ect... I then thought about the HWT. (new to these abbreviations so i feel pretty cool using them) Now i was wondering... is the HWT same as a regular stormtrooper? only of course more pouches, backpack ect.. Also is the backpack for the HWT same as the TD backpack? Just looking for a discussion about HWT and regular troopers and all that good stuff!!!1 point
