Hi there! I've been on the fence about doing a Phasma build for about a year now, and I finally decided to go for it! While this will be my first build for the 501st, I've got some decent experience that I hope will help me create the costume I've been dreaming about Reading @LadyInWhite, @sharkbait, and @Soulart posts (along with others of course) have been such an inspiration for me - I'm really excited to get going!! From what I can tell, there aren't many Phasmas around ... I live in Southern California and would love to know if I've got anyone near me who might've gone through this whole process. I've been reading threads here without joining because I was nervous, but you all are so helpful and supportive to fellow Phasma builders in the past that I decided to take a chance and join in on the fun! I've been researching armor, and I'm curious - is KB Props out of business? Seems like a lot of people went through them but then stopped a little while ago. Any recommendations for the best place to get my armor from? I'm putting together a list (similar to Sharkbait's original post here) of what I need/where to get it, so any ideas or input is super appreciated. I'm 6'1 and a little concerned about getting "big enough" items too. Before I go, I just want to say to anyone reading this -- I've been a Star Wars fan for years, and although I always knew the 501st existed, I was too scared/nervous to join. This past weekend, however, I was volunteering at a Make-A-Wish event and saw the 501st in action for the first time ... and was completely amazed. You all are awesome, creative, and so amazing with kids (and adults!). I saw people who not only love and appreciated the Star Wars universe like I do, but who also used that passion and created something magical with it for the rest of the world. Call me cheesy, but I think you all are really special. Looking forward to getting to know y'all going forward!2 points

Yes they have a bunch in boxes and filled with each individual piece all the way up and they just grab an go and put it all together but I mean a bunch of armor pieces filled to the brink !!! Lol the armor is not comfy and it’s hot ! That’s why only 30 min in suit and then rotate the pieces are made very strong and durable as well but a lot is over sized like their buckets ! Nice work, a couple of extra photos the DO's like are: Inside and outside close up rivets thigh ammo strip Sides and front close up sniper plate attachment. Close up of the teeth area, be aware paint shouldn't leave the teeth and be on the gums. Close up of the side ab/back rivets. A couple of accuracy adjustments: Hovi/mic tips mesh on Anovos helmets are too fine Larger Ab plate could be trimmed a little more and lose the rounded edges of the smaller plate Just a note on your blaster, T tracks and main handle shouldn't have weathering, these where plastic and painted either gloss or satin black. Good luck with approval2 points

Hi all! I just wanted to show off the progress on my EVA foam Rogue One TK build. This is all I have so far. I am using a Black series helmet. I do have a EVA foam helmet, but it looks more like a OT helmet than a RO. This is my chest plate. It's made out of 8 pieces of EVA foam, not counting the shoulder tabs. I filled in all the seams with wood filler, then coated it in Kwik Seal to keep it from cracking. The back of the plate is coated in paper mache to keep it rigid. This is the back of the shoulder tabs. Sorry for the blurry pic. Note the slits for the shoulder straps to insert. This is the back plate. I made sure to add the indent on the top of the box. I will be adding the shoulder tabs and the hole in the right top corner soon. Here is the ab/kidney plate. I still need to add a few more details. I need to make the cover plate in the back too. Side view. I'll continue to post my progress. Thank you all!1 point

Ok lets try this again. Greetings folks! I am new to all of this but very excited. Been wanting Trooper armor since I was a kid and now I finally have the means so here we go!!! Still not one hundred percent if I will be doing a Battlefront Shadowtrooper or just the Shadowtrooper. I really like the white Imperial logo on the chest but not sure if I like the blue on the helmet or not. So for now, I will just be making it a Shadowtrooper. So day 1 in about four hours, I trimmed all the extra off all the parts and then using painters tape, I attached it to my mannequin. Unfortunately my mannequin is six feet tall but I am only five- eight. Didn't think that one through when I first bought it, but back then I also didn't think I'd be using it for an actual project. Oh well, it'll work for now. I didn't take many photos but here is what I have so far. I used the score and snap method which ended up being pretty easy once I got a rhythm going. I am currently waiting on underarmor I ordered from Amazon so I can start getting things sized and whatnot. Hopefully Weds it will show up. Ok, lets see if i got this photo thing finally figured out! image 1: blank mannequin RUNDMC style and yes, I am also building an HIC!! it worked! sweet!! number 2 mmmmmmm box of joy! 3 me loving the spread! 4: just wanted to see something on me! the rest are each time I added more to the mannequin. that's it for now.1 point

mine is already done. I'm trooping with it since a couple of years1 point

But is it really a real project if you don't have to go to the hardware store at least twice? Welcome aboard!1 point

The undersuit will stop you getting armor bites (pinching) but as mentioned won't make a lot of difference. Off to a good start, looking forward to the progress1 point
-
There are no seams on screen version so no seams in the CRL's, the costume is based of screen references not what is best for wearing or comfort or the way a manufacturer makes them. There are other sections which will need to be glued and filled also which I've gone in to in this thread like the sides of the ab section. If you join and add support under the chest/yoke shoulder section this with reducing cracking, a lot was not known before the alpha kits had been built and what sections would get stressed but by time we beta's started assembly we added supports. Yes I still have a couple of cracks but that's from constantly flexing open to get your arms in, cracks can form in any armor even OT TK's1 point
-
As already mentioned in this thread a lot of the helmets had the trim cut straight on the end as you can see in these references so either is acceptable1 point

They were too scared to publish the one I submitted asking about the flat gaskets in the photos lol.1 point

I agree that it is a tiny difference, if any at all. I wore my undersuit when fitting, but I think you could get away without it.1 point
-
I did to my skin for sizing, For me the compression suit did not matter for fitting. I suppose it would really matter pending on what your undersuit is made of1 point
-
yeah it's just a few people have said to wear the undersuit when sizing. The one I currently have is a large but I need a Medium.1 point

Removing the paint scared me, but found out how to do it. Hopefully getting that done this weekend. I did wear it to a local Con this past weekend. I must say that it was so much fun. Everyone was so nice, the 501st group that was there. I am anxious to be approved but also want it done right with the best of my abilities...which is limited, lol. I appreciate everyone's input very much. Thank you! [emoji846] Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk1 point

For basic you might not need to fix anything. It´s up to your GML and the one thing that might be a requested fix are the tube stripes as they are quite far down the cheeks as mentioned, they are also on the opposite sides but again, that´s up to your GML. The other things mentioned like drop boxes and ab buttons are just suggestions to make you look even better and to prepare for the higher levels EIB and Centurion. I say send in your application and see what happens - good luck1 point
-
If you want screen accuracy then you don´t cut the brow trim at an angle, screen useed helmets had them cut more straight. Same helmet from a sligtly different angle and you can see it´s not cut after the trap. Some other examples:1 point
-
Don’t butcher the elastic push the over as much as possible and then just add a dab of E6000 behind the elastic and clamp it in place to align the boxes up with the end of the belt.1 point
-
they work perfectly fine and I'm happy to have tony's speakers in my helmet aswell. But for crowded events where I need a loud voice, I still use the good old Aker MR15051 point
-
looking forward to more of that! I got the very same blaster and very same conversion kit Using the blaster especially for events with kids. You can give it away for a photo and don't have to care too much if they drop it. Great to see these conversions are still happening!1 point

What most people do is find a screen used helmet and model theirs off that, the photos that Q posted are a good reference, then you have a reference point.1 point
-
Nice job on your kit, just one thing with the brow trim, the ends could be cut to align at an angle with the traps like in the photos of the screen used helmet, also just watch your sniper knee as it appears very close to the thigh and could get caught under it if the thigh drops.1 point
-
Thank You ! I have since trimmed the ears way down and left the gap. Also i do have the original tips that came with the kit thank you for the heads up!1 point

You will also need to get some gray paint (Humbrol # 5 or Testors # 1138) and redo the teeth as shown:1 point
-
Yeah, it seems that Anovos went from one extreme to the other on the frown paint. They used to carry it all the way into the gum line, and now it's too short! I would grab some Humbrol # 5 or Testors # 1138 gray paint at a hobby shop and re-do them all. Hint: Use a quality, soft bristle brush with a fine tip for painting, especially in the small V on the sides.1 point
-
I'm not an expert but I do have an beta Anovos kit, I've not had one of the new kits in my hands yet to check the differences but if Anovos are shipping these kits as TLJ then I'd gather that is what they would be easier to be approved as. At the moment there aren't many difference in the CRL's between TFA and TLJ, helmet being the obvious main difference, with both CRL's it's acceptable to use the TFA cod piece, but that being said this may change, when the CRL's had been made there wasn't an armor maker offering a TLJ cod but for higher levels a TLJ version was needed so some made their own as did I. So could you use a TLJ cod for TFA?, perhaps I don't think many GML's would pick that but I would suggest it would be noticed for higher level clearance. If you really want to get picky there are quite a few minor differences in the versions so it just depends on what will be reviewed and changed in the future, CRL's are on this years calendar for a review so I'd keep an eye on the boards as well as check the CRL's while building1 point
-
So far what do the experts think? If your goal with this kit is to join the 501st, is it going to be easier to shoot for TFA or TLJ approval?1 point
-
Thank you. You're right. I guess I can finish the helmet. Maybe it will look better with all the embellishments. The chin is adhered with hot glue, so if it still bothers me, I can remove it and make another one.1 point

When I ordered it, I ordered "Star Wars, The Force Awakens First Order Stormtrooper armor" and selected the "with standard helmet" option. I have let them know through e-mail and chat, since seeing the test pulls, that what they advertised was TFA armor, not TLJ armor. I ordered TFA, I want TFA. Bad enough I now have to figure out what to do for the cod and forearms, but if they alter the helmet to the TLJ version without communication or approval from me, I'm going to raise a little hell.1 point

Hi James! Congrats on an awesome start!! Your bucket and paint job look great. I had quite the struggle with trimming my ears into shape. It took me three tries! Definitely worth it in the end, though—they look much better when they aren't sticking out quite so far. Also, I note that you're using Ukswrath's Hovi-Mic speakers - which are awesome. Did your kit also come with regular Hovi-Mic tips? If so, you'll want to hang on to those since you're planning on building for L3. I'm working on my L3 application and I've been counselled that Ukswrath's Hovi-Mics aren't L3-approvable (because of the white plastic behind the mesh). Simple fix if you still have the originals—just swap them out for the application photos and then re-install afterwards them for trooping. Again, that is only to do with L3 approval. The Ukswrath mic tips are perfectly fine for basic and even for L2. Keep up the great work!1 point

Sean was the Commanding Officer for the 501st Dewback Ridge Garrison and he championed the inclusion of local costuming groups in events. Sean lived to serve and always made others feel welcomed. He loved to laugh and enjoyed helping others do the same. Sean often told others he had their backs, a promise he never failed to keep. Sean is survived by his young son, Jacen. As I was driving down I remember feeling nervous; this was after all only my second troop. What if I forgot my gloves that I had double checked were in my bag at least 6 times? What if I slipped and fell down and looked like a fool, or heaven forbid broke my helmet? That and a million other silly things were racing through my head on the drive down. We arrived, dressed up, and headed down to greet folks coming into the library. Not even 15 minutes into the troop something unexpected happened; I felt something I hadn't seen crash into me! Like a cart or something. I tried to figure out what it was, and why no one around me seemed to be panicking, and when I finally managed to look through the meshed teeth on my helmet I realized what had bumped into me and why no one was worried. A little girl, maybe 8 at best, was in front of me, hugging me as hard as she could. We talked about all the important things: Her favorite characters were the Stormtroopers, but Darth Vader was pretty cool too. Her favorite movie was Return of the Jedi, because of all the Stormtroopers. She liked the Star Destroyers (even had a shirt of one). But most importantly, I was her favorite Stormtrooper ever. Why's that I asked? "Because you're a girl, just like me!" That little girl became what I think of when I think of Star Wars, the fandom around it, and just how big of an impact we make on others when we take part in this hobby of costuming. With election season over we're joined by a couple of new faces and a lot of familiar ones. One I'm certain everyone in this detachment knows is Joseph, and I am so happy for the opportunity to venture into this new and exciting year working along side him and every member here! So what exciting stuff is coming up soon? We've been planning for Celebration Chicago! We'll be having a our detachment group photo shoot at 9am just before the main Legion photo shoot, and anyone attending should be sure to drop by and join in the picture! Keep an eye out for further announcements regarding Celebration activities on the forums, as well as 501st events on the main website. We're also finalizing our merchandise planning for the coming year. More announcements to come on that in the coming weeks from our Branding and Merchandise Officer @Harbinger. Finally, with Episode 9 around the corner we'll be getting in gear to start accommodating those costumes with CRLs, as well as updates to the pictures and clarity on many of our existing ones. FISD thrives off the amazing community, and as always, if you have a cool idea you'd like to share and see implemented we'd love to hear all about it! Thanks for your time, and I'm looking forward to a marvelous year. With Unquestioned Loyalty Sarah Bailey TK-20466 "Alay" Detachment Leader Greetings to all! It looks as if we have an exciting new term coming up. As you may have noticed we have more than a few members who have changed roles, and several who have been added to the Command Staff. As I am stepping down from the role of Deployment Officer, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the newest members of the team, Daniel (Theswede), Andy (First0rder) and Mike (msouza). I will be remaining on for a time in an advisory position to assist in the transition and help with the training, but I have complete confidence that they will continue to keep up the traditions and high standards of the office and will all be up to speed quickly. Sha Sha (shashachu) continues to do an outstanding job, and will eventually take over as "Senior" D.O. once the dust settles and I'm sure it's a position she will shine in. Please know that while their attention to details is way above average, there is an incredible amount of "behind the scenes" information to learn in the form of policies and procedures. In order to keep our standards up to par, I have asked them to take their time when reviewing EI and Centurion submissions for the time being. This means that it may take a little longer than normal for your costume to be approved, so please bear with us. My main focus in the next few months will be the CRL updates for Expert Infantry and Centurion levels. Some of the requirements currently listed can be a bit unclear, and due to their ever-evolving nature we are always finding things that need to be added/refined. Many of you have strong opinions on these, and you will certainly be welcome and encouraged to share them, but there comes a point when we have to move forward. Please know that exceptions to these updates will be made for those who have already posted their requests at the time when the new CRL changes take effect, and plenty of advance notice will be given. In addition to the actual requirements, we will also be going over the CRL models. Many of these are outdated and do not reflect the "ideal" look we are aiming for. I have approached several of you whose armor is truly outstanding to submit photos, but if you believe your costume goes above and beyond I encourage you to get in touch with me via PM. Be aware that all future CRL models can have holstered weapons, but cannot be holding them, as in many cases they obscure a lot of costume details. We have a lot of great things coming up this year, and I sincerely hope that you will all be a part of them! They’re currently trying to occupy Black Spire Outpost … and they welcome new recruits. Just buy a uniform, and pledge allegiance to the dark side." *Note this is not one of them* Stormtroopers first debuted in the original Star Wars in 1977, with each subsequent film finding new ways to reinvent the terrifying military squad with new armor to accommodate various environments. A new report about the upcoming Disneyland and Walt Disney World attraction Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge might have confirmed early reports about a new type of First Order Stormtrooper that is set to debut in Star Wars: Episode IX. WARNING: Possible spoilers below for Star Wars: Episode IX Various rumors have circulated in recent months which claim that Stormtroopers with red armor will be appearing in Episode IX, indicating a more elite form of infantry. When discussing Galaxy's Edge and the characters guests might encounter there, one Disney representative may have confirmed these red troopers. “The 709th, the Red Fury,” Scott Trowbridge, the Imagineering creative executive in charge of Galaxy’s Edge, shared with Entertainment Weekly when discussing the First Order Stormtroopers that will be exploring the attraction. “There are some stories to be told about those folks, and why they’re here, what they came looking for — or who they came looking for.” The outlet also noted, "This elite squad from The First Order has arrived on a new ship — the TIE Echelon, which has a cockpit similar to Kylo Ren’s bat winged shuttle but the curved foils of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1." Image has been leaked on multiple Star Wars news sites. While "Red Fury" might seem like an obvious name for elite Stormtroopers who wear red armor, the various other details, such as them being a specific squad as opposed to an entire garrison or that they arrive on a new ship, would lend credence to rumors that these new troopers debuting in Episode IX. These descriptions sound similar to what we learned about the Death Troopers in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, who had very minimal screen time despite their intimidating appearance. Another representative from Disney explained that the various narratives that will unfold at the park will take place between the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Episode IX, adding more fuel to the fires of speculation. “We want to give the impression that this planet has always been around, and that we’re coming into it as travelers for the first time onto Batuu,” Margaret Kerrison, managing story editor with Walt Disney Imagineering, explained. “There are layers and layers of history and all of these other characters, familiar and new, who have come and gone to this planet.” Between this confirmation that a new squad of elite Stormtroopers will be lurking Batuu, the events of Galaxy's Edge taking place before Episode IX, and the nickname "Red Fury," Disneyland and Walt Disney World guests could come face to face with these new Stormtroopers when the attractions open later this year (for those of you who can get in). Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on May 31st, 2019 in Anaheim. Walt Disney World will see the park open on August 29th, 2019. However, the park is going to have two phases. Phase One will have the Smuggler’s Run aka The Falcon Ride. But Rise of the Resistance will not be open until Phase 2 later in the year. Stormtrooper Oddities - What have you noticed? There you are watching your favourite Star Wars movie and then you notice something odd with a particular Stormtrooper that you hadn't seen before, there are a lot of oddities seen in the movies, some are really common, here's one of the most recognisable "Mr No Stripes" http://www.starwarshelmets.com/2007/ANH_HD_stunt10.jpg Now that doesn't mean you can rush out and pull off your tube stripes and get approval for another version of Stormtrooper, CRL's are made with consistency in mind so if you only see one of a particular thing it's an oddity and won't be in the CRL's Seems the more times you watch the movies the more you notice and especially once you research a particular costume/character, so what have you noticed?, let's see the obscurest you have found so far. I'll start the ball rolling, I thought I'd seen them all but I must admit I hadn't noticed this trooper's oddity until just recently, seems to have been in a hurry to dress and forgot which shin goes on what side. Being active on the boards on a regular basis , welcoming new members and helping out where you can is, though. Some of the benefits: 1. Access to exclusive Attaché merch., including patches, etc. 2. Having the Imperial Attaché title under your name. 3. Being a part of the team that welcomes new and prospective members of the FISD. 4. Being the "go-to" person in your Garrison, Squad or Outpost. 5. Exclusive access to the Attaché HQ area, Imperial Propaganda Machine (newsletter) and merchandise discussions. We are currently in need of Attaches in many units, especially International Garrisons/Squads and Outposts. For more information on this program, please head here and if you should have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at any time. (Pretzel) For a complete list of Imperial Attaches, go here IMPERIAL ATTACHE AWARD Imperial Attaché Award for those attaché's who have gone above and beyond [minimum 1 year of service] You can find a list of prior recipients here ATTACHE MERCHANDISE Attaché Patch NOW AVAILABLE For those of you on the Imperial Attaché staff, I am pleased to announce that the official I.A. patches will soon be available... again! Here are the details.. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! Patches will be limited to TWO per person, and will only be sold to those who are current FISD Imperial Attaches. These patches have been graciously DONATED to the FISD, so all you will need to do is cover the cost of shipping and PP fees, which will be $1.00 each for those in the U.S. and P.R. and $1.50 each for those outside the U.S. What a deal! You can find the thread here Attaché Ambassador Fellow Attaches. Happy February. The Attache Check-in Process for 2019 has begun a little earlier than last year! As your ambassador, one of my primary roles here is to make sure you are active. It is vital to the Attaches on this board to be the continued beacons and light to the new troopers joining the boards. You all have been those beacons, and I am damn proud of you all. If you have not checked in yet, the 2019 check-in thread can be found here: Thank You! With Unquestioned Loyalty Preston Christman TK-91488 "Pretzel" PRO Lead - Attaché Ambassador So what exactly are EIB (Expert Infantry Badge) and Centurion levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just ask away here on the forum. This area lists all those who have gone above and beyond basic approval toward screen accuracy. Request your free Centurion certificate here If you see any of these Troopers around your Garrison or Squad, be sure to congratulate them! As many of you are aware, the FISD is currently in our March to 1000 program. Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal and have just reached the 900 mark! The amount of approved submissions is increasing (over 80 this year alone) thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help. You can also contact myself "Pretzel" or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you! Greetings, troopers! We are still finalizing our merchandise plans for this year and hope to have more information soon. If you have any suggestions, feedback, or concerns, now is the time to let us know! Hello again. Well well well. This post has turned the unexpected milestone of 4K+ views! That's AMAZING for me! Never thought it would get so much attention BIG THANKS to you all. I'm flattered beyond limits. To celebrate it, I've gathered myself and decided to take it a little farther, the last step... so I've built a 3d printed stand, ordered a nice plaque and done the numbers on the henglster counter. Come and see! Finally I managed to tame the technique for the methacrylate glass. I was doing it all wrong all the previous times. I used too much force on such a delicate material. This is to be done gently and slowly. I cut a stripe twice the length needed to cover the numbers from a methacrylate sheet I already had. The reason to make it so long to give me room to hold the piece on both sides and have some extra glass done just in case something happens. For this I used a hobby saw and went slowly. Then, I roughly rounded the long side corners on one just one side of the piece, using a big file with minimal grain, those used to soften metal edges, and worked like charm... Then I spent some good couple of hours dry and wet sanding the thing with 500 sandpaper to smooth it to my limit. After that, half an hour more of elbow grease with "krafft scratch remover polish cream" until I got it transparent again. In the picture you can see that some nasty cracks occurred inside the plastic at some time during the process. Happily, having a long piece saved the day, allowing me to spare the flawed end. I've chosen this particular pic despite the general blur cause you can see clear the background through the piece... nice! After the piece was done, I carved just a little the slot on the hengstler to make it more regular to accommodate the numbers and my new glass. As for the number, I googled images and came up with a site with one I liked. You can track it here: http://www.501st.com.mx/foros/viewtopic.php?t=6198 Then I colour-printed a few different sizes of them in a glossy paper and see which one fits best to my liking. Then just mounted all properly. To fix the glass cover I made, I used Humbrol Clearfix glue. This was recommended on my regular hobby shop. It's an ultra clear glue, cures slowly and is not as a strong as CA glue, but doesn't lose any nasty vapours or fumes and doesn't fog or blur transparent surfaces. I've been told this stuff is what's used to glue cockpit on plane models and things like that. And here it is! Now I have numbers on my blaster! Just as PS, I've also printed a 3D stand from thingiverse so I can rest properly the blaster until my armor is done (sometimes in a near future I hope!). It's my first 3d printed project. I printed it directly with no scaling involve, and had to mod it afterwards to fit my gun. Here is a link to the files: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2741481 I've also ordered a nice plaque from Rich at PLAQUES4PROPS for my bigger blaster, a DD, but in the meantime will be displayed next to my rubies... Rich is a nice fellow, very communicative and his work is awesome, despite the fact I found him on a rebel scum forum [emoji854]. If someone is interested, you can see his work and contact him trough his Facebook site: http://facebook.com/plaques4props Thank you all for your interest. Now I can call this really done.
