  1. Took pictures with the legs off so you can see the contrast. I did add some more glue to make sure they don't move. Front view Side view

  8. CRL's are always evolving TFA and TLJ are ones on the list for changes BUT there has been a backlog from other CRL's which should have been updated. by now so they are a little bogged down. You'd be surprised what some can pick up with not even having a particular costume for a CRL, it really depends on how much research they do. Others don't seem to want to provide images for what ever reason until it suits them, this is seen on a lot of occasions even with 40 year old references. TKC went under review last year and was open to comment and suggestions, as was ANH and ROTJ but all takes time. Wrong. you can take it up with the LMO team if you believe there is something wrong in the CRL, they have to power to over rule your GML and GCO you just need to provide screen evidence

  9. Not sure I fully understand the issue but this D.O team har yet to receive an FOTK application for EIB or Centurion and for what it´s worth I have an EIB cleared FOTK (would be Centurion if I had received the latex gaskets)

  13. Still tweeting mine. I’d sand down the thighs keeping the natural curve, I did it to mine. I also sanded the indie top return edge on the sniper knee which helped with the clanging as will shortening the thigh. Lastly I’d say invest in a hard hat liner for the helmet. It’s a huge difference. I’ve found it keeps the helmet a bit more steady on your head Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. I guess the CRL is under review, but after being told that should have been acceptable by others and my bad from new staff members on an issue with troopers ab boxes I think it's time for all of us as a community to work to make a better CRL. The CRL should not be decided by people that don't even have an FOTK done, it should be a community driven tool that is accurate. I was told lots of things were assumed just to get approvals knocked out. But we now have a wealth of resources from all the movies so far. So let's discuss and remain civil, this is mostly a reminder to myself because I'm still mad that even after showing supporting evidence my leadership said there was "nothing they could do until the CRL was changed"

  18. I know, progress is slowing down. Lots of other things to do in my spare time, but don’t worry I’ll get there! Hopefully temperatures will rise so that I can start painting the Hengstler counter black and hotglue the display, speaker and switch in there. The frosting hides the LEDs from direct sight and spreads their light. The main power LED will be mounted at the front of the barrel, so its light output is not affected by the frosting. Glad you like the result! Cheers mates!

  21. When building my TK I had the same idea for storage (keys, cash for subway,etc...). Now that I have trooped in a few different situations, I would not feel comfortable having anything of value in a TD. For spare parts, I keep mine in the car along with tape/glue because if something can't wait until the end of the troop to fix, I will need to remove the armor to fix it (TD just would not hold enough). If keys/money is a concern, get a passport bag to fit around your neck and hide behind the chest armor https://www.amazon.com/Travel-Wallet-hidden-passport-Luggage/dp/B01N30R8CX/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=113E5BDQCOP0B&keywords=passport+pouch+neck&qid=1553005313&s=gateway&sprefix=passport+po%2Caps%2C236&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1 If you want the cap to be retained, use a small bungee cord attached to both caps. Doesn't take up a lot of room and the caps are always pulling against each other https://www.amazon.com/Shock-Cord-inch-Diamond-Grip/dp/B07HQBHV88/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=small%2Bbungee%2Bcord&qid=1553005542&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&th=1 HTH, Lou

  23. I did this for a promo video to support the BC Lung Associations Stair Climb for Clean air fundraiser. This is an event where participants see how long it takes to get up a 48 storey building in Vancouver. Funds are raised to help those with lung conditions, and as a tradition - firefighting teams from all around come to compete in full gear! Yves Ho TD 9815 has done this for years IN COSTUME to compete with the firefighters. And yes, he is fast in armor! I did this event last year without armor and it was tiring! Anyways, Yves challenged our garrison to see how fast we could gear up. Here's my submission, complete with distractions.

  25. Okay, so I went over the vocoder and made the 'bumps' on the top more pronounced by going past the moulding. And I scratched back the teeth a bit (screwdriver, and gently - I don't have any toothpicks!) I labelled 'em up to make it easier to feed back if it needs more tweaking...

  29. This is the kind of reply I was hoping for earlier when I pondered storage. This looks great but the elastic might take up some storage space or get in the way of larger items. The caps are already a super tight fit and I have read some hot bath them to relax the plastic and avoid stress on the plastic. My tube has thick walls so I've got room to sand them down for a smoother fit. Might consider a locking ring or something with magnets.

  32. OK, the CRL was written before that info got known and the CRL pic has abs-pasted the seam. If you do as Q suggested you have a strong case in getting approval. Hopefully there will be a new wording were both are acceptable - ab boxes are flush to the abdomen with or without a visible seam - or something similar so you can go either way, screen accurate or idealised. Atleast I think so.

  33. While we (honestly) appreciate your views, Dustin, at the moment (with a few exceptions) the D.O. staff are bound to follow what is written in the CRLs which we know are ever evolving so we are not "dismissing" your evidence. Details that may have been missed when they were initially composed are noticed, which is why we are in the process of performing updates. Please realize that updating the CRLs is not a simple task, and that those doing so are volunteers, so things take time. We will be doing the CRL updates in "batches", with OT TKs coming first, as those make up the vast majority of level 2 and 3 approvals. Immediately after those updates are approved and posted, we will be starting on FO TKs. We have several troopers who are current FO TKs (including one or our LMOs) that have an incredible working knowledge of these costumes who will be advising on prospective changes when that time comes, so yes, we DO have FO TKs who will be involved. At some point during the proposed changes there will be a discussion opened up for all members to contribute, and I hope your voice will be one of those. Also, consider that we are the largest Detachment in the 501st, and therefore the D.O.s have 19 TK costumes within the FISD that they are expected to approve at higher levels. No one can honestly be expected to be an expert in every single one, so they depend on the CRLs to supply this information. As a former D.O., I can assure you that they certainly try, though. In closing, bear with us, voice your opinion when the time comes, and know that it will be heard and considered. I promise you that.

  35. Hello all! It has been a while since I've been active over here, but I'm happy to be back. With a name like "stormtrooperguy" you can probably guess that I'm into stormtroopers. My first suit was an FX kit bought in 2004. I replaced the helmet within a couple of months with a GF2. Eventually I replaced the body with an AP kit, then an ATA after that. Eventually I added a second suit... the highly controversial Death Trooper aka Zombie Stormtrooper. I absolutely love this suit and wear it as often as I can (which is only 2 -3 times a year). My ANH stunt was starting to look as messed up as my zombie suit, so I converted it to a sand trooper. I'm hoping to pick up a new kit this year and get a shiny suit back in rotation. So here I am, ready to help out!

  36. Certainly all true based on a TFA Riot Baton but the Black Series was marketed as a TLJ Riot Baton. Given there are no images to verify any changes it is somewhat in a grey area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  39. Strange that the glue is failing like that. You can try a slight bend in the strips to match your shape before gluing, and also try roughing up each surface with an aggressive sandpaper before gluing to help give it something to stick to.
