Well..., it took only one event as a Handler to realize, without a doubt, that I want to be apart of the 501st. I’m hooked on the FOTK and have decided on the TFA styling. I’d also like to finish it with approval as a Riot Control Trooper (I have 3 Z6 RCBs and should probably put them to use). Less one set of tires ($$$), a win at the local casino ($$$) and some saving ($$$)..., I have this much now, $$$$. So let’s go shopping!!! Over the the next few days I’ll be reading all the TFA builds (thanks again for the links in my intro) and taking notes for my build. So far I’ve read that KB, JIMI and Anovos might be the best options. I’m not familiar with all the “preferred” FOTK armor sellers but would love to hear from anyone with recommendations (PM if necessary). With this build I’ll have the challenge of s-t-r-e-c-h-i-n-g it to fit my 6’3” frame and finding a size 14 boot. I did find a photo of a 6’3” FOTK so I’m excited to learn that it can be done. Thank you all for sharing this experience. I’m very excited to be a part, and take part in all the fun. I’m also looking forward to a, most likely, long and challenging build. Thanks to you for all the feedback to elevate my armor to EIB status and recommendations to take it to the next level. Really appreciate the time and effort it takes for you to do what you do and how thoughtful and thorough you’ve been.2 points

Thanks Tim - and thank you for inspiring me from the very beginning to take pride in my armor and do the work to make it the best it can be... or should I say the best it can EIB.2 points

Approved! Got the approval notice on my TK armor from my GML this morning. Actually, my wife and I got our approvals near-simultaneously. The GML noted that this might be a Garrison first for a husband-and-wife team to be approved at the same time, so that's pretty cool. I registered both of us with the 501st shortly after getting the good news. Now, back to the waiting game... <g> A.J.2 points

In the original films, (especially ANH) there were all sorts of costume issues (as seen in this thread). When applying for basic 501st approval, we go by standards set forth in the Costume Reference Library (CRL). These represent the way an "ideal" costume should look. For basic approval, the standards are not as strict as the higher levels. Troopers who choose to bring their armor to closer levels of screen accuracy can apply for Expert Infantry status and even move on to Centurion status if the standards are met. The requirements for each of these is listed in the CRLs as well. Here is a link that will show you a complete list of FISD costumes, as well as the requirements for each. Hope this helps, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask in the appropriate area. http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL2 points

So basically everyone posted so far are being evaluated as currently non approvable to the 501st without some changes?2 points

You are correct. The end cap is not fully pushed on in the photo which makes the detonator look slightly longer than it is. 184mm is the correct length but a few mm's either way should be good.2 points

I mean, that's what I was hoping to do. But I understand rules are rules. And I know there will be enough fights over body size and the way things fit, so I'm not looking to pick any more. If he's animation only, then he's animation only. I'm sure there will be some epic builds of him, no matter how it plays out.1 point

Hello everyone, I can announce joyfully, that my esb stromtrooper is approved TK-39701 is ready for duty1 point

No, I did not. I ended up going with a HfxProductions Hyperfirm, but they are no longer in business. I am very happy with it and recommend it if you can find one from another member. Another vendor that is superb is Praetorian Blasters on Facebook. Both options are good for durability which is important if your primary intent is to troop with it. I’m still not too sure about the one I linked here. I’ve never seen or heard of an E-11 from this seller since I posted this thread. Let me know if you have any more questions!1 point

Thanks, yes, the uneven edges will be covered by the paint. I will use tape to cover the exact size of the display. Before, i will paint the inside black. After the paint is done i will remove the tape and the only thing you will see ist the display, even if you look from the side, as everything is painted black inside.
