I dig the gaffa. I see you're going the extra mile. Not that I'm surprised...
-
You're the man, Dan. Coming along nicely! Looks like you'll be the missing link between TKs and TDs.
-
Be bold and go dirty. Regular trooping dirt (natural weathering, if you will) just doesn't have the same effect some of the Tantive IV TKs show. But the way your Hyperfirm left marks on your armor would be a great start. After JediCon, my armor was a little scuffed up as well (you saw what my holstered blaster did to my left calf armor!) and I'm lovin' it!
-
The reference you're using isn't the most accurate - that reenactment MG34 is only an interpretation of the real deal. You might want to keep that in mind, Rob. I recommend using pictures of an original machine gun instead to work from.
-
I'm a grappling hook! (Sorry, couldn't resist...) Looking good, Daniel. Finally you got rid of the old arms and shoulders. Looks very good. And now go and mod the BFG!
-
Wow, who is so bold and steals a whole set of armor? You don't exactly slip that in your pocket and leave... Sorry to hear that, I hope justice comes to those who deserve it. But more important, good luck in getting back your armor!

HOWTO: Build a E-11 from scratch V1.0

That thing is just 100% pure impressive. Awesome work, Carsten! You're a blaster building god. -
TK-6599 Requesting EIB ANH Stunt[106]
ObiHahn replied to TK-6599's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Nice one, Valentin! You'll make EIB without any problems, I'm sure. We need more German EIB! That helmet looks very familiar...is that DarthChridan's old MR CE? Dann sag ich schonmal: Willkommen in den Reihen der Elite! -
I heard this project is on hiatus or even dead? Wow, that would be sad news...
-
Well...this is the Stormtrooper detachment after all. So I guess the TK buckets fit, don't you?
-
In the above pics, the magazine and holding shaft look straight instead of curved. I've never seen that on any real Sterling pics or pics of known replicas... strange! Or is it just the angle of the pictures?

Pipe blaster build: Hole drilling
ObiHahn replied to Sonnenschein's topic in General Weapons Discussion
http://www.originalprop.com/blog/movie-guns/star-wars-episode-iv-a-new-hope/ Loads of pics of some screen-used blasters. Some of them reconditioned, but since it is the original manufacturer who did the reconditioning, I reckon it's quite accurate to the original version. -
So Eric, you decided to get RT-Mod armor? I think that's a good choice from what I've seen and read.
-
Thanks for not taking this the wrong way, it may have sounded/read as a little rude. But since my DLT-19 weathering is version 3 or 4 by now, and I've taken quite some advice from others serious to improve it, I thought I point out what I see. BTW, it's always a good thing to re-watch ESB! Great detail work with all the holes drilled. One more thing, you could drill out the front sight and then shape it with a file. I did this for my ESB E-11 as well since my front sight was a solid piece, just as is yours. Easy mod! BTW, here is a pic of mine:
-
Little over the top weathering for my taste, and it doesn't look "random" enough, if you catch my meaning. But that's just my personal opinion, to each his own. Like DarthChridan pointed out, the t-tracks and the grip pieces were rubber/plastic on the original and shouldn't show metallic wear coming through. But a lot of people do that anyways. I hope I'm not to straightforward. I mention this as constructive critique only!

Yep, super glue works just fine for resin.
-
Would you or someone else with that SWI issue be able to provide a scan? I'd be very interested in seeing that pic!
-
Here's one that shows the screen used ANH style E-11: ----------- And another one: --------- Resin E-11s are popping up on eBay from time to time, I have one of these myself, made up in TESB configuration (without mag cylinders and Hengstler). Here's my resin version which I got via eBay UK: -------
-
Just take a screen accurate ANH blaster and remove the mag cylinders and the counter box for ESB. Easy as that! The other blaster you might be referring to is the so called ESB promo blaster, the one with all the crazy knobs and doodads. I'll see if I can find some pics as reference.

When in doubt about some costume detail, check some screengrabs from the actual costume or pop in the DVD, press pause and zoom in on the desired detail. Other fan costumes often don't provide the most accurate detail IMHO. That's where the chrome trim confusion came from in the first place.

After quite some time I now finally finished modding my DoopyDoos DLT-19. I added quite a bit of details, changed things around and gave it a whole new weathered metallic paintjob since I unpacked it from the delivery box over 5 months ago. It's a great base for an accurate BFG, but some things bugged me and I had to remedy that... Things I modded: - opened all necessary holes with a dremel (like under the front sight or drilling out the cocking handle) - repositioned the cocking handle - added the details on both sides of the receiver - added the rear barrel sight - dremeled the missing detail into the raised middle part of the barrel - added wire to the t-tracks - removed the strange square disc on the bottom of the grip and added the correct holding ring detail Here's the final look and some close-ups on the details: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4061/4422812355_9448c8c52d_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2722/4423578266_8d0bebc014_b.jpg Barrel detail and t-track wires: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4012/4424720098_488d4070b1_b.jpg Rear barrel sight: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2759/4424722298_c8408bf86a_b.jpg Receiver box detail: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4017/4424725058_3b4efd6527_b.jpg And this is what it looks like in direct sunlight, showing the metallic effect: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4054/4420289164_f433931953_b.jpg

Outstanding, man. Not that I didn't expect it to turn out great, but that is really something. Filthy!

Whoa, a couple questions arise for me here: I can't click on any of the troopers on this EIB page ( http://www.whitearmor.net/eib/ ), is there supposed to be a profile link for every entry? Doesn't work for me...at all. Only static pics and text underneath them. What "EI profile page" is gordonator referring to? And what pictures? I never saw those anywhere! And lastly, there is a link from this legendary EI profile page to the members' matching 501st profile? Never saw that as well. What am I doing wrong?! Edit: Nevermind - I'm stupid, sorry. Was probably only my pop-up blocker...works now. And with "works" I mean "doesn't work properly" exactly as Gordon described.
-
Now let's tackle 200 EIBs this year! Congrats all! Let's all have a party some time soon!

Thanks Terry, these are good suggestions. The hole is in the receiver, the handle has the threaded bolt. Only question is, how do I cut a thread, what tool will I need? And will the resin thread alone be sturdy enough to hold the bolt/cocking handle after repeated unscrewing? DoopyDoos cast a metal nut into the receiver to hold the handle bolt. I guess placing another nut in the appropriate spot would be the most stable solution...I'll see if that is doable and if I'll find a nut with the correct sized hole.
