I'm not the skinniest guy myself. I wear PT armor with almost no shims, only in the back of my thighs, but I think I can still pull off the look. I'm 212 lbs and 6'. Here's a pic, I'm the guy on the left: ------------

My opinion: whatever you do, don't drybrush any metal colors on the grip or t-tracks. Happens quite often here and makes no sense, since both were plastic/rubber on the "originals". Also, on the scopes, the base color was supposedly brass/copper, so no silver or iron drybrushing there would be more accurate. Here's my weathered E-11: ----------

Depends on how strong you want the connection, I guess. I used 2 rivets per knee detail piece and backed both pieces with a dab of hot glue to keep them both from moving up and down. Works great!

I think he means bending them in a curved way to follow the round edges of the lower thigh piece and the abdomen. Heating them and slightly forcing them around the curve of the piece they attach to does the trick. My belt is flexible enough that I didn't have to heat anything. It just follows the belly curve and stays flat when I take it off.

It's simply because they re-used ANH scenes of the good ole "frenzy on the Death Star" scenario from EPIVs showdown. They felt no need to film all that again. The "ewok drumset" helmet is another thing, the prop department probably just used what they had lying around. I remember putting a screenshot of that scene up here somewhere on FISD...in a different topic.

Well, since the first sentence in the seller's own desciption reads "Up for auction is a set of ANH Stormtrooper armor cast from the well known T*E suit of armor.", I'm pretty sure that yeah, this is a recast. Reading obvious info in the first place really helps avoiding posting topics on questions that have been discussed at length before. MOT means "makerofthings!", the seller's name. Which is also easy to read in the auction you linked to.

Yup, that's MOT. What exactly do you mean by "is it real" though?

Most people shooting for EIB probably think "If I'm gonna add the rivets on the left, why not add the snap on the right as well?". Not a requirement, but easy and even more screen accurate. I have that thingie installed as well BTW. It even has a function.

Do you mean "everywhere" like the whole internet or rather "everywhere" in this forum? The FISD is bursting with information if you take a little time and do your homework. Seldomly has all information been served in one piece on a shiny silver platter if you only wrote 1 post. You do realize that getting a kit also means building the armor yourself? Just asking.

Yeah, Germany does have some nice spots. Is my ammo belt large? Now that you say it...I might trim some more excess off the bottom, the top might be a little harder with it being riveted to the thigh already. 6cm sounds a little narrow though. But I'm sure it's different in between all the armor versions/makes.

Cut the "ammo belt" thingie so that it is rounded towards the bottom back (like 1/4 of a circle). Bend it with heat (hair dryer, or heat gun) to follow the front curve of the bottom thigh opening, then attach with one rivet per side, left and right. Like this: ------------ Easy as that. Or were you thinking of something else?

I guess unless any of you can step into a time machine, take a good look at each and every single ROTJ stormtrooper costume and then bring evidence back with you, this will likely never be resolved. The vinyl/cloth shoulder strap riveted to the chest might very well be an on-set "field repair", who can tell? Plastic shoulder straps keep breaking all the time under normal trooping conditions, so they surely will while filming fights in a forest, with stones being hurled at the troops and constant falling to the ground, hit by "blaster fire" and arrows... I'm sure the costume department had to be quite creative while patching up all damaged parts on location. I mean, background troopers were probably mainly made of white Gaffa taped around nude guys painted black...

Great display, Smitty. That seems to be a very cool mannequin! Is the colour difference as noticeable in person as it is in the pics? Helmet/shoulder straps vs armor I mean.

My armor is high gloss HIPS too, and I'm always one of the glossiest TKs in any troop. So no need to paint, only if you want to dull it or something. I also use score&snap for trimming, works like a charm.

Yeah, I just had to - walking stairs would be near impossible without that mod. And it's screen accurate even: some TKs had quite big chunks cut out in their back knee area, some had only slight trimming. Mine is quite extreme.

Upgrading from my old FX gear with MR CE helmet to my recent, more screen accurate armor, hands down. That's one of the best decisions I made. That and carrying a BFG as a TK. Nothing beats the heft of a DLT-19, gun-wise I mean.

Looks good. Is it possible that your finishing strips (at least on the legs) are a different shade of white than the rest of the armor?
