  1. Thanks man, I've seen some of your gear and it's top notch, so coming from you that really means something. The barrel came drilled out already on the DoopyDoos that I got. I believe older models were solid, but this one is hollow. We think that Shiv's weapon might be an older DoopyDoos blaster. Still mine is very, very sturdy. They seemed to have upped their ante with the BFGs. Great detail, it was a blast weathering it and bring out all the dents and dings and the tiny writing and stuff.
  2. Yeah Shiv, nice German! Dankeschön! You mean paint the stock black (as in leave it black) or paint it brown? I'm looking forward to your WIP pics!
  3. One last thing had to be added, now I think I'm done with the gun. The left hand side of the receiver was missing one more detail above the box, so I made that out of sheet HIPS: Top: my BFG without the detail in question Middle: reference pic of braksbuddy's excellent gun Bottom: my BFG with added detail That's how it looks now:
  4. Congrats on making EIB, not too many more and were at 100! Yay!
  5. Just want to chime in and say that I too have a full PT set of armor, am very happy with it and couldn't find any dishonesty in my transactions. I feel it has to be okay to speak freely and give the guy a break. He provides quality and is extremely helpful and friendly when communicating with customers. Think of recasting what you will, but be fair towards the person if he's friendly, stays true to what he promises and is not in it for some inappropriate profit. I'm all for the community, but I love me some affordable quality armor. That's my 2cents. End of short rant.
  6. Great hero helmet and armor, Terry! I already see you joining the ranks, nothing seems to be missing. You wrote "trooping blaster", does that mean you also have another one for display?
  7. Whoa, hats off to you, Amanda. That looks awesome, plain and simple. Must have been one of the easiest EIB passes, I reckon. Very clean build and great eye for details. I saw one tiny little detail...does the trim on the bottom of your helmet leave some white showing in the back? Or is that just some flash effect on the pic? Other than that - I guess that's how it's done! Congrats!
  8. Women, huh? Gret looking rig there, Adam. RT-Mod seems to be a great choice, you make it look very good!
  9. You can pose with my gun any time, Julie. I'll give you a holler when I fly or swim over to Hawaii. And thanks, troops! @Shiv: yeah, it's on there. That eagle is very hard to photograph, and is has some tiny, tiny writing underneath. Something like "WOA-08"...and next to the eagle it says "dqc.", is that on yours too?
  10. I've been busy. Since the DoopyDoos DLT-19 does not come with a rear sight on the barrel (due to the 2-part design with a screw-on attachment point), I built one myself from scratch. Definitely not 100% accurate, but it does the job. Here's a couple pics: It's attached via 6 small but very strong Neodym magnets, 3 on the gun, 3 on the rear sight: That way, I can always take the sight off and still de-assemble it.
  11. What's that exactly? I never heard of that despite being German. Sorry for the off topic.
  12. For the tube stripes, you could always use decals, e.g. those from TK-4510. Painting those on is a real pain, you're absolutely right. It takes one heck of a steady hand! Your brow is fixable, try and get a replacement. Maybe someone here on this board can provide one. Looks like you have the exact right build for a TK, the armor fits you like a glove!
  13. There's definitely something wrong with your brow and the tube stripes...you might want to reconsider these details, and the return edge situation. And there are way too many rivets showing IMHO, and there's the lack of the ab buttons. But to each his own! I understand you rushed this for Halloween and are now planning on redoing things a little more accurate and less...well...sloppy, right? After all, it is a very nice base suit, it would be a shame to kill it because of some easily fixable details. The most important part is that you had fun, and it sounds like you did. So hey, thumbs up!
  14. Jawdroppingly awesome, that's what this is. I am sooo impressed by skills like the ones it takes to come up with something so freaking cool!
  15. Congrats on making EIB, that looks like one fantastic ESB trooper. I noticed how your side gap shims look exactly like mine. So same armor size there.
  16. AFAK that's no ItchyNuts blaster, but this one is made by Kai, leader of our German Garrison.
  17. I'm 1,83 meters and about 100 kg right now, so yeah, bordering on fat. And I still fit into my screen accurate ANH TK. It sure looks bulky but can be pulled off. I used covering strips for all the seams visible on the front view with measurements true to what stukatroopers' flickr tutorial suggested and went with broader covering strips for the rear seams. And I had to shim the side gaps, but only about 5cm on each side. --------
  18. You should leave return edges on the chest armor on the sides where your shoulders meet the chest and on the bottom edge that overlaps the ab plate. ------------
  19. Hey Shiv, thanks for the info. Then mine will stay as it is. I prefer the brown over the black stock. Be sure to post pics of your weathered blaster when you've finished!
  20. That's an interesting point with the stock color... There are no strict guidelines as of yet for the DLT-19, right? I mean, from official 501st high command or something? I guessed a brown stock will do since I've seen so many fellow troopers paint theirs like this, with a Bakelite stock as a reference.
  21. Looks absolutely stunning. Natural weathering is the best! I say leave it like that. It looks spot on for a Tantive Raid trooper... Is it all from your gun?
  22. Thanks a lot guys! I wouldn't mind a couple more of these babies on a rack as a display peace. If any of you guys come to Germany - bring your BFGs and we'll make a stack photo. What might be the problem with a brown stock?? Too realistic?
  23. Here's my weathered DoopyDoos MG34/DLT-19 in direct sunlight. I was going for a well-used worn gunmetal/Bakelite look, since that looks more realistic than just plain black as it was before.
  24. Well...thanks! We had English in school since 5th grade. And then I studied English for 5 years, so that helped. And on English speaking boards like these...well, you gotta learn to write as well as speak, right? But I guess the best strategy for really learning a language is watch all DVDs in English. The dialogue and voice acting is better anyways, we always get some kinda crappy dubbed versions here in Germany where they get all the voices wrong. @dougefresh: I wanna know your 6 dirty German phrases, man.
  25. Thanks Shiv! It's all just drybrushing with gunmetal, and some bronze for a somewhat rusty effect. And it's several coats of metallizing effect/black/metallizing/black... etc. After I was satified with the result, I sealed it with a semigloss clear coating. The stock I painted with a brush for a rougher appearance. It's brown REVELL enamel paint No.84 which I then darkened with some black overspray. It's supposed to be Bakelite, not wood. Wood I couldn't pull off, it's too hard to simulate. Although hollow, mine still is pretty heavy and feels very solid. I dropped it once, and nothing happened. Not that I recommend dropping resin guns too much, but I was surprised (and relieved) with the sturdiness.
