Like I said in the other thread - lose the chrome foil and you're good to go! There never was any chrome or silver on the movie prop, there were only metal clips to hold the tube to the belt. BTW, using FX or other kit pieces isn't really "from scratch", is it? But yeah, it would be a pain to build it from scratch anyway with so many kit suppliers to choose from.

Very nice blaster! It's especially great for a first built. And I like the weathering.

A great substitute for E6000 is Henkel Tangit PVC-U for all of you European troops having a hard time finding E6000. You can get it in almost every DIY or hardware store and it works for ABS as well as HIPS. A little better for HIPS though IMHO, but use only very small amounts! It's powerful stuff and might melt the plastic if you use it excessively.

Never heard of velcro being used for any on-screen suits. Do you happen to have a pic/source?

Heat would be the way, but move carefully and don't overheat the material.

I never had this problem, neither with my FX style calves nor my current screen lineage ones. I never heard anyone talking about this, actually. Nice solution though.

One more thought: maybe you could paint the areas in question white rather than scraping/wiping it away? Since the helmet is already slightly weathered, you'd be able to get a matching look even if the painted white was slightly off.

I think more grey has to go off the frown for the base ANH stunt requirements. No grey in between the teeth whatsoever is the way to go. You know, each tooth seperately grey and only white in between. Like this:

Well, with the ANH stunt/hero difference, the ESB and ROTJ versions and the way each individual movie helmet was assembled in slightly different ways (higher/lower brows, differently cut out holes for eyes and frowns, different ear trimming), it's not really possible to say which version would be the stormtrooper helmet. Stormtroopers aren't as standardized as people tend to see them. Which version are you trying to replicate? That would be a more realistic approach, methinks.

So this will have electronic effects in the end? Yeah, I'm interested in your progress as well.

The paintjob looks quite awesome. Makes the best out of a toy blaster.

This looks like it's coming together extremely nice, I like how accurate you're going along. All the little details incorporated! The ab buttons are probably a tiny bit big like you said, but hey.

Too many inaccuracies for me. Doesn't beat the looks of a good resin copy of an original sterling IMHO. Might have a better, more hefty feel to it, but the wrong details kill this for my taste.

Looking good, definitively ready for EIB I say. She makes a good Luke height-wise. Put a hero lid on her head and a grappling hook and comlink on her belt and voilá: Luke in TK disguise!

Hm - ich hatte immer den Eindruck, die Leute mit den unterdurchschnittlichen Englischkenntnissen kämpfen sich schon irgendwie durch. Aber warum nicht, der Versuch eines deutschen Unterforums kann sicher nicht schaden. Werden denn noch Übersetzer benötigt? Ich kann auch gern einen Teil übernehmen (sowas wie die ganzen CRL- und EIB-Kostümrichtlinien zum Beispiel).

This looks like an okay fix if the part is broken. But I prefer the seamless, on-screen look if possible. Why not get a replacement part?
