  1. Hey Shiv, then they definitely are different. Mine doesn't have a number on the stock. Didn't you say yours has a hole for the cocking handle? I have a feeling that mine is too far forward on the receiver than on the original MG34. Maybe yours is an older doopys model? It looks more like their current product pics on their homepgae than mine does... I finished weathering mine, it came out pretty good I think: And sorry for hijacking your thread, buddy.
  2. Thanks! Much appreciated! We're 5 now in the German Garrison! And I guess there are more to come...
  3. Thanks Paul, but... I'm sorry to bother you AGAIN... ...but it's "ObiHahn", with a 2nd H like my last name.
  4. TK-7580 requesting 501st stormtrooper status: http://www.501stlegion.org/members/display...php?userID=9428 A buddy told me this had to be done via PM to Daetrin...but since I just saw this thread, I figured this was just as good.
  5. It's actually only 16 to go, you still forgot to put me on the list. We should be 84 counting my buddy Daniel as of yesterday. So there's something special planned for #100? And what's with the coins, that sounds awesome!
  6. See, I told you. Frown and screws. Congrats, Daniel, and welcome to the ranks.
  7. More pics of mine coming up after spraypainting. It's my project for the week, I wanted to start today but I was all out of paint, I didn't check before... <_<
  8. Here we go again! German EIB No.5 on the radar! Go Daniel, looking good. See, we told you you should apply as well!
  9. I sure can, here's a couple pics with a prop/original comparison image. I kept it very simple... These details were built from mostly scrap white HIPS parts and the whole gun is going to be spraypainted with an even coat of black and then weathered. left side: simulating this: right side: simulating this:
  10. You're right! Wow, these almost look like twins separated at birth. I missed that yours does'nt have the barrel venting holes drilled open and the muzzle seems closed too...whereas mine are open and show the hollow design. But hollow doesn't mean lightweight with mine either, it's at least 3-5mm thick and has a small hollow core. Oh, does yours have a screw-on cocking handle, too? What stamp marks do I have to look for? I didn't find any on mine. Are you going to weather yours?
  11. It is the Doopys blaster, I'm sure. I got the exact same blaster in the mail 2 days ago. I think it's awesome, I already added the box on the right side and some greeblies as detail on the left where the ammo is fed on the real MG34. But other than those missing details it's perfect out of the box. It's made of very high quality resin with metal screw threads for connecting the parts. Not brittle or anything, and it has a decent heft to it!
  12. That has got to be one of the most bad@$$ blasters I've ever seen. Great work with weathering the additional parts!
  13. No, he didn't, you're mistaken. And PT sold out of Denmark. It's a shame though that the blanket isn't included.
  14. Judging from that pic, this seems to be in excellent condition still. I wonder what kind of rich person ended up owning this helmet....and what they do with it.
  15. The little list never seems to get shorter, right? I have "come up with a way to remove the 2 rivets from my hero belt" on my list, and a couple minor fitting nits. You never stop fiddling!
  16. I just noticed something and thought I'd make a suggestion since you're going for maximum accuracy: I'd place the detonator clips a little more to the outer edges of the deto. Yours are very close to each other, in the middle of the tube. Like so, vintage reference pic is on the right: You could also "hang" the tube inside the two clips, bent as round hooks on the bottom, and then secure it with 2 rivets per clip. Just like on the movie suits.
  17. Ah, thanks for pointing this out. ROTJ, that's where that came from. I never saw any pics from ROTJ troopers showing this though, but that seems like a possibility. Anyone have a movie reference pic? You keep seeing people using the 1" distance for their ANH/ESB style armor. Maybe they really are going for greater flexibility, but I have mine installed almost flush with the belt and they still are flexible enough for all kinds of crazy movement.
  18. Hi all, I love to browse through these and other armor boards and just check out everybodys progress and efforts. You can never have enough TK input IMHO. But there's one thing that always made me wonder...when it comes to the topic of attaching the drop boxes - no matter what movie style you are after - there is some confusion about where to place the drop boxes exactly. There seems to be a lot of talk about 1" away from the belt, with the straps visible. Where did that come from? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recollect any movie or any publicity still, not even any photo taken from any props&costumes exhibition where this originated. Did someone just come up with this inch and then spread the word? It's just that after I amassed so many reference pics I start to ask myself "Did I really miss something?". In all pics I've seen and collected, the drop boxes almost touch the belt, with 1-2 millimeter of strap showing at most. Any thoughts?
  19. Congrats on making EIB, I just got mine a couple days ago. You fit the ANH armor well, man!
  20. Whoa, thanks Pezza for the photoshopping! Great idea. And yeah, those harsh studio lights really do shine through the armor in places, in a way sunlight doesn't. But maybe I'll paint it inside soon, but rather white than black - I was told that painting it black might give the armor a greyish tint from the outside. Thanks everyone for your feedback! I really recommend trying this out, what a blast that was!
  21. Yup, it's a full set. Thanks, I'm being used as reference. Nice!
  22. Hi there, today I celebrated my EIB status approval by having professional photos taken. A buddy of mine works in a photo studio, so that was the obvious choice, roght? This is us recreating the best known ANH TK promo shots, all I was missing for them to be more exact were a hero bucket, a short range blaster and maybe a little less of a beer gut... We did a couple other poses too, of course: Elvis-Trooper, look out, there's a new kid in town: Bucket off, trying to give the evil stare - while my blaster falls out of my holster...
  23. Please use this as my "action shot". Okay? And ignore the old action photo...
  24. Thank you all for your congratulations, guys. That makes me 4th German Garrison elite, if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure there's more to come soon. I have a DLT-19 coming, just to upgrade things a little.
  25. Ah, him again. This guy has a website somewhere claiming he was an extra on the set of ANH and that he was in the Death Star hangar scenes with the Falcon. People are debating whether he's fake or not, since the armor in that pic has all kinds of wrongs on it (knee ammo belts for shoulder straps, biceps for forearm pieces, ammo knee belt on the shin instead of the thigh, strange ear pieces, forehead trim doesn't reach the traps...). It also seems that some kind of cape/glove was retouched out of said picture (Vader perhaps?). Has there ever been any official or otherwise revealing clarification on this? Edit: Found the page, there he is: http://www.horstedkeynes.com/extras.html
