Reviving my old thread here a little... I recall people asking how much the DoopyDoos DLT-19 weighs. I since had the opportunity to weigh it, and it comes in at 2,3 kilograms almost exactly. My resin E-11 weighs 1,1kg, so that's not an awful lot more for a gun double that size. I have a question while at it... Doopydoos puts the cocking handle in the wrong position, too far towards the barrel. They made it removable with a screw thread, which I like a lot, but now I was wondering about how to install it closer to the grip/trigger like it's supposed to be. I have no clue how to find a threaded piece that fits the screw part of the handle, and on top of it I'm not sure how to install such a piece in solid resin. Any suggestions/ideas?

Transitional TK between ESB and ROTJ?

You definitively have a point there, man. -
TK 8316 Requesting EIB (AHN Stunt) [98][FX]

Nice build of the suit! I'm sure you'll make EIB in no time. Thumbs up! -
TK2158 EIB application ANH stunt[97][FX]
ObiHahn replied to hondaboy's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Well, congrats then on making EIB. Just wanted to say...I think the Hengstler on your E-11 sits a little too high for my taste. Any chance you could lower it, to where the plate with 2 screws sits? It should cover that plate, and I don't recall any screen uses E-11 with a Hengstler that high up. Just my 0.2$. -
Transitional TK between ESB and ROTJ?
ObiHahn replied to ObiHahn's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Thanks for your assessments, the overall trashed condition of the suit in the pic fits the "wrongly fixed plate for quick photo op" verdict, so that's a likely explanation. But since the pic isn't dated in any way, maybe this was the first suit made up for TESB just after ANH (would explain the state the costume is in)... but yeah, this is just a guessing game. So, has the fact that the ab detail was flipped for ROTJ explained otherwise then? Does anyone have any input? With all the reference in the Archives it seems unlikely they just f'd up their continuity in the costume department... -
Transitional TK between ESB and ROTJ?
ObiHahn posted a topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
http://worldfamousdesignjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/n671305666_1269352_80331.jpg Hm, it's not the first time I saw this pic but I never spotted the ROTJ type flipped ab button plate on him. It's clearly a ESB helmet and armor (no white trim in sight) but I don't recall any flipped ab button plates in the movie... Is this the suit that all ROTJ suits where cast from maybe? I never understood why the ab detail was changed anyways, but this could make sense maybe. Any thoughts or insights on this? -
Stormtrooper display, what looks best?
ObiHahn replied to LJJNL's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I'd say if you want the most accurate display, go for black rubber gloves instead of Nomex ones. Nomex will be ideal for trooping, but they used rubber household gloves in ANH. And to top them off, glue flexible latex handguards on them. -
Yet another AM build![*AM]
ObiHahn replied to Astroth's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Well, what kind of glue did you use? I never had any problems like this after I let the glue cure long enough... -
My glasses do not fit under a MR CE or TE lineage helmet, the screen accurate stuff. I haven't tried TM yet, and FX is not an option. So what I do is wear contacts - easy as that. I have to say my glasses are more on the large side and stick out quite a bit. Smaller frames might just fit. Trial and error, I say!

Does the E-11 ejector port have to be metallic?
ObiHahn replied to TKittell's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Leave it optional, but let's be honest - it's no biggie top paint the little area silver and it looks way better IMHO. On any E-11 I mean, be it Hasbro or Resin or Hyperfirm or whatnot. Adds a little pop to an otherwise bland color scheme if you're nor into weathering. -
Proposed Change - Side Gap Language
ObiHahn replied to Daetrin's topic in FISD Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Requirements
My 2cts: I think that if you need shims (like I do on screen lineage armor, not so much on FX) then you should resort to plastic or plastic-y material only. I use soft almost stretchy high gloss vinyl that matches my armor and I think rippled fabric goes against the whole "fantasy" concept of armor. I had to use material on my old FX style lower leg armor pieces because I had no plastic at that time, and that always looked kinda iffy looking back now. AND didn't really match the rest of the armor color-wise. -
Yes, you're right. So this would make Adoo's version V.3 really, because my V2 still has the incorrect bottom grip detail. But on Adoo's version the hole in the middle of the round disc detail on the left side grip handle seems to have disappeared...? Also, on the same side, the lever to switch from single shot to rapid fire is missing as far as I can see from the pics, which is strange.

Duty Day at the Pacific Outpost
ObiHahn replied to Femtrooper Julie's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
No, that guy certainly didn't speak for most of the FISD I guess. Don't take him too seriously. I say keep all your femtrooper stuff here where it belongs (in the appropriate section as suggested) and maybe just keep all other pics of your various outfits to your personal site. Slave Leias and Leias and all your partying outfits, nice as they may be, aren't really all that stormtrooper related, huh? Just saying. I guess that's what the community is trying to say IMHO. Why not stick to civilized ways of talking what's on everybodys mind? In a magazine you only read what interests you too, don't yo? Why not here? But the theme of the magazine should be respected. I say all those who want to see Julies various other outfits should go to her page or her flickr account and all the femtrooper pics should stay here and be accepted - or ignored by those who don't like the femtrooper variation. That "Family Guy" is definitely not the voice of the community. -
TK2392 Request EIB for ANH Hero[AP][APPROVED] 2nd
ObiHahn replied to TK bondservnt's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Congrats on the double EIB. I really like the idea with the hero ear bump mod. That's the best one cnn do with the MR CE IMHO. Not much else to do with otherwise... -
Tupperware AM Aromur build[*AM]
ObiHahn replied to Wildabeast's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Indeed, absolutely right - that's what kinda happened on my leg pieces. Now there's too much cut off and it looks a little strange. But hey, I can bend the heck out of my knees! So be careful when you cut! -

TK-3891 requesting ANH EIB status.[94][AP]
ObiHahn replied to Trskel's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Not using any mesh because it isn't screen accurate means using nothing and leaving the holes open and see-through-ish. I still have mesh installed in my helmet but am thinking about ripping it out to get closer to that awesome on-screen look. -
Man, do we hijack each others threads a lot, Shiv.

Here's what I measured on mine in millimeters, I tried to be as accurate as possible: - all t-tracks are 10mm wide and 7,5mm thick/high, with a 3mm "base" and a 4,5mm "fin" - front end of barrel has 8 t-tracks, with a length of 128mm each - rear end of barrel has 8 as well, with a length of 183mm each - bear in mind that the 2 t-tracks on the underside of the barrel have to be split in two parts to accomodate the bipod mount. Hope that helps. It's what DoopyDoos has on their model only, so not claiming any movie accuracy here...

Let's go for 200 EIBs in 2010.

Isn't he the guy who made the original movie costumes? That's what I heard and I find it very plausible. Incredible craftsmanship right there.

The MG34s they used in the movies were late WW2 models, all those had bakelite stocks instead of wood, as far as I know. I have a screenshot of Han somewhere where the stock and the whole gun looks plain black. I'm not sure if I ever saw clear screengrabs of the sandtroopers' MG34s from the earlier Tunisian shoot. Here's Han on the Death Star: http://forum.501stforum.de/upload/storage/...81262970159.jpg And here's the guy searching the Falcon: http://forum.501stforum.de/upload/storage/...w1262970197.jpg It's very hard to tell from both these, I'm afraid. But they're the best TK DLT-19 movie reference I got.
