  1. Welcome to the world of trooping. Not to worry you'll get used to it. Honestly, try and avoid sharp sudden turns, instead make a turn in an arc like a car. That way there will be less surprises as you've seen where you are walking. Unfortunately you will bump into the little kids that cut in front of you as there simply isn't a way to see them. If your lucky you can look down through the holes in the teeth and see whats near your feet. But experience is the best remedy.
  2. You have to get the files hosted on a hosting service, kinda like photobucket for files. There are free ones out there, but I can't remember the names of any off the top of my head.
  3. In addition to that your GML still submits your application and pictures as normal. New costumes don't have to have a CRL to get approved, but it makes the process smoother. The first Rancor Keeper got approved a few months ago without a CRL or detachment support. He is local to me as well so I'm familiar with the process. Also Legion Council has to approve the new costume as well.
  4. Gang, let's keep the discussion on topic. Also if you have something else to share outside the scope of this thread, please start your own.
  5. Don't worry about the scope rail, mine broke regularly. Getting a strip of aluminum stock at Home Depot was $4 and will solve the biggest and about only weakness of this kit. If your looking for a demilled sterling, they have gone up from all of the stormtrooper fans the last few years buying them up. They are running 900-1100 depending on quality.
  6. You can always trim it down, the thighs will need alot. But how are you 5'12", that's the same thing as 6 feet tall?
  7. Thought I'd bump the thread and see who the next batch of elite in progress troops are. I know there are alot of you working hard at this.
  8. Well fan sculpt is completely accepted, but resin would be very heavy and fragile.
  9. No problem, BTW I searched for "foam" to find that thread.
  10. That's amazing work sir . Any chance of sharing your aging techniques?
  11. Most excellent video Jez. Cant wait to see more.
  12. Armor that builds itself when we open the box.
  13. Yep, one of our locals just got a set together. It's really amazing how well it's made and looks.
  14. The Testors versions are gray 1138, blue angles blue for the ab buttons, and model master flat black. Personally to me Humbrol #14 French blue looks too light for tube stripes, but I could be wrong.
  15. That stuff has been floating around for a while. I'd avoid it personally, it seems to be recast FX armor with an unknown kinda odd helmet.
  16. You have amazing skills sir. It's spectacular.
  17. Looks good. Just to make Scott's job easier a closeup side shot of the helmet would be a help. That makes it way easier to see the screws in the ears.
  18. Well RT is generally for larger troopers but you can't go wrong with AP/TE2/TM. I'll let someone that knows more about TM armor chime in, but I wasn't aware that it was larger armor. ABS vs Styrene, we have several of those threads around. Styrene will last for years of trooping just like ABS. The difference is you have to paint styrene and the quality of the paint job is probably what you are seeing over ABS. If your worried about the styrene cracking, just troop normally and you'll be fine, but you can't play football in it like you can with FX armor.
  19. I put a piece of loop/fuzzy velcro over them so the metal doesn't snag on anything.
  20. No need to pay. Just contact your local garrison (Neon City) and see if there is an armor party coming up. If not there are always local troops that will help you out usually for the price of cheap pizza. http://www.neoncitygarrison.com/
  21. You gotta be careful with that. Most of them were extras 30+ years ago and memories fade with time. Also people have asked some of them questions over the years and either Joe Johnston has a really bad memory or lies like a dog.
  22. I have no problems with suggestions, they are always welcomed. I saw the resizing issue in IE. It does not happen with FF as that's what I normally use. I'll have to defer to the tech guys to figure that one out. And yes we accept FX suits for elite.
  23. Good save Paul. I really like rare earth magnets. I've have very good luck with these: http://www.magnet4less.com/product_info.ph...;products_id=56 Make sure to get at least 20 for the crazy price discount, and you'll always need more than you think. Plus if your like me you break one or two along the way. The shipping is high, but it's still the cheapest out there by a long shot.
  24. I'll chime in and say that I'm against post count ranks. It leads to people making pointless posts just to get their count up. A member who makes a few quality posts is infinitely more valuable to the community than someone who makes 1000 BS ones. As to the other suggestions we have a thumbs up, thumbs down and a laughing icon: . As for the forum being cluttered, I think the FISD is one of the easier detachments to navigate. There is no reason to rename the AP/TE2 section elite as you can go elite with any armor, and the request elite status section needs to stay separate as it's regularly referenced by many. When I resize the screen the header does not overlap anything. Sorry I can't see what your talking about.
