  1. On a positive note, the biceps are more accurate than the FX ones, and the armor does have "lines of illusion".
  2. Most plastic suppliers carry sheet HIPS, but the strips have to be cut. Check the phone book.
  3. There are no detailed requirements for the detenator, so don't loose any sleep over that detail.
  4. It looks good. Just remember generally TD helmets have a higher brow, but it's your bucket. I'd also tough up the black lines in spots if you have a steady hand.
  5. Also ping TK1491, he worked velcro into the sides of his and they hold.
  6. Just the fact mam, just the facts. CAP armor is pulled from 80 gauge HIPS, 100 gauge for the face, and 60 gauge for the ears. It's TE recast armor, with a sharpened faceplate that is sharper than TE helmets. The belt, right knee pack, and 4 button strip are scratch built. After handling some TE2 armor, the TE2 is thicker after it's formed, and is a little sharper.
  7. I really can't add anymore than what has been posted above. Just wanted to say thanks for your service to your country .
  8. The strip should run up the front of your thigh. When you see thigh pieces rotated out it means that they need to move their strap point or add a strap to keep them in place.
  9. This thread and others about recast helmets will not become a recast discussion, the FISD is a place of learning. If you want to talk about recasting please start a new thread. Please do not continue the off topic discussion.
  10. There are several excellent methods to attach the shoulder straps, but in my opinion they should never be riveted. ABS glue or E-6000 in the front, a little velcro in the back with a support strap is a great combination.
  11. Not if you know about the resistor mod.
  12. Well the FISD usually gets a bit quite on the weekends since everyone is out trooping, same goes for most Legion forums. As to what's new, I'm going to vote tomorrow, and take my son to the zoo Wednesday since it's supposed to be 70 instead of 40 like it usually is in November.
  13. As far as threads that involve recast helmets go, there isn't an uproar here, just people posting their opinions. First off it's your money, so only you can make the final decision. A few simple questions are do you have pics of the helmet? That way you know if it's a good pull or not. You can ask for a picture of the inside to give you a hint as to how well it's assembled. Just make sure you do your due diligence before you make your decision.
  14. Search through the sale section. There were a couple guys selling it a few moths back.
  15. In your tools>options>privacy do you have allow 3rd party cookies checked?
  16. I know what worked for me on the MEPD, our sister site, was to login and use the url after you login as your bookmark web address.
  17. My mistake, I guess with the many accurate helmets I've finished for friends and garrison mates putting the face inside the dome is just second nature these days.
  18. A MRCE is 501st acceptable without a repaint. You need to add ear screws, replace the lenses, fill the chin gap (most use white silicone), and clean up the teeth if needed.
  19. If you add an elastic strap from the bottom of the chest plate to the bottom of the back plate, it will force the chest piece to lay flatter.
  20. It goes like picture one, where the face plate is inside the dome.
  21. Wow, I wish I had a cool dad that did that for me as a kid. Looks great.
  22. Each detachment has the drafts posted that they are responsible for, and most have reference pictures. We do .
  23. Like I said, honorary elite member. But his goal is to loose enough weight to get the side gaps closed. The armor is his motivation.
  24. For the last several years he is LFL's premo SW artist. He did the 25 anniversary EBS, 30th ANH, and 25 ROTJ posters. He also illustrated and co-wrote the you can draw star wars book, and did the webasodes of you can draw star wars. Plus a whole lot more. http://www.mattbusch.com/starwars.htm
  25. They exist, but not publicly yet. Getting a requirement list has been an ongoing project for the Legion and many of the costume reference guides are in final review. There are draft versions stickyed at the top of each movie version subforum.
