WTF TK ANH Stunt Build thread - newbie needs help
Sly11 replied to cnsf's topic in ANH Build Threads
The tooth pick and thinners or mineral turpentine trick generally works very well. I have also used the Testors brand of thinners to do this with no issue. Best recommendation I have for painting those Ab buttons neatly is, Don't drink coffee before you paint them lol, I didn't think Caffeine had an effect on me until I tried to paint some very fine details after my usual double shot -
Looking good Alex. Make sure you sand off any of the sharp corners on those cover strips. just a touch so they cant catch or damage anything. The one at the bottom of the shin can damage your boot from rubbing,

TK-19984 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB status (RWA) (1040)
Sly11 replied to Ebio Amisi's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Congratulations Ben, well deserved. Welcome to Expert Infantry! -
This is an interesting one. 1. How tall are you? 2. Please post a photo of your kidney section so we can try and figure it out. There should be a series of tabs at the base which is what you secure the belt and But plate to, kind of like a skirt. it give the separation between it and the but plate and the belt fits between.

The CRL does require some updating and we have quite the discussion thread on what needs to be changed. The big thing is also having the photos of a built costume that can be added to show visual reference to some of the changes we intend to make. Also don't forget, the materials used for the screen assets were vastly different to vac formed ABS so they are more flexible and durable. Not all behind the scenes attributes can be easily replicated using the materials we have, so things like the concealed zipper will not form part of a CRL, just like strapping doesn't factor into them. It's not meant to be seen and is not consistently visible on screen therefore we won't mandate it. It is certainly fun to try and replicate it though.

Searching for Australian made armour for trooper
Sly11 replied to Rudsy's topic in New Member Introductions
Hi Paul Unfortunately not much armour is made in Australia at present. The AAA (Australian Armour Alliance) will eventually have a OT TK kit available, but that is still a way off. At this stage Canada, USA and the UK are your best bet for TK armour, so check out our list of vetted makers. Also use this as a quick go to resource if you are looking to build an Original trilogy Stormtrooper. -
Very nice indeed.

Helmet brow trim -- where and how to cut it
Sly11 replied to A.J. Hamler's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
It has been a preference thing for a long time. Mine are cut vertically as per the reference images I used at the time. We use multiple frown paint references as an example, with the only stipulation being keep the paint off the gums, I see the brow trim as no different with so many references showing a few variations. As long as you don't cut it too short in length and it doesn't look good/right, then everything should be fine. Also note that the last image shared above is cut vertical and not angled and states perfect, so angle or straight you are good to go. -
Welcome to FISD Sean, looking forward to seeing some photos of you kitted up when your RS arrives.

Slight misalignment in left ribbed shoulder strap
Sly11 replied to RageQuit's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
The main reason why the bridges tend to do this is because of the curve. They will always move to the location where that curve lies. Only way to change it is to either heat bend the bridge so it naturally falls to the position you want. I had/have the same issue, so I actually added some industrial Velcro to mine. It is low profile enough to allow the bridge to sit almost flush on the back plate and stopped it from sliding out to the side following the set curve of the plastic. -
Hengstler Counter - Custom TK Number Photoshop File
Sly11 replied to Ebio Amisi's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
Several years ago we had a member who would custom format your numbers and send you the file to print. Go to the last page of my Blaster build to see how I did my numbers and plastic cover. -

Where can I buy a First Order Kit?
Sly11 replied to Purdue Stormtrooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Hi Tom WTF Walts Trooper Factory and KB Props are both currently available. We are waiting on a couple of members to complete their builds and some more feedback before we add WTF to the vetted list, but he makes plenty of other armour kits and is reputable. -
Hey Mike, How's it going?

Good luck with your rebuild of this great version of a TK.

Welcome to FISD Roux, looking forward to seeing a build thread on your new project.

New FISD Tri Fold Brochure now available to all 501st approved memebrs.
Sly11 replied to Sly11's topic in Announcements
Hi Arthur, if you would like to translate it into Chinese please do so but we need it checked by another source and then supply a copy to the Legion PR team. Basically you will need to mock it up then supply it to myself. We will then build the appropriate version and get it approved as all PR material needs to be vetted and sent through for records. The Spanish version will undergo this same treatment. Yes indeed the Sky Trooper was handed over in 2019. -
Greetings all Today we launch our newly revised Detachment Tri Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available. Since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays we have moved this to a "print your own" service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. The thread can be found below for more information and how to access the files.
